I came here back in September when they were still in their opening stages and it's crazy to see how much they've grown. They have a waitlist now (either on Yelp or in-person) and just opened their second location in San Marino. I went in person at 5 p.m. on a Sunday and there was virtually no wait. I was the second group on the waitlist and was called in within 5 minutes. Their tea remains one of my favorites from any boba shop and the quality control is great. I had my mind set on ordering the cassia milk tea this visit but they started offering samples of the misty oolong pure tea and my mind was changed. I've tried the misty oolong milk tea before, which I loved, so I changed it up by ordering the pure tea with Himalayan sea salt cloud. The cream top was not my favorite but the tea was pure bliss when I ordered it less sweet. I also sampled some of the ember milk tea, which had a robust nutty taste. Their most popular drink, the popcorn milk tea with brown sugar tapiochi, also had a nutty undertone. However, it's reminiscent of buttery caramel, similar to that of kettlecorn, hence the name "popcorn" milk tea. I highly recommend visiting at an off-time because I've heard of many stories where the wait is insanely long. Highly recommend the koan-im milk tea!!! It has such an interesting taste to it. Popcorn milk tea is pretty good too, but I would definitely choose koan-im if you're a tea person. The place is so aesthetically pleasing, but it is pretty small and it's an in and out type of place, not good for sitting down and chatting. The employees are very nice. I love their drinks. It is really, really good. I would love to try all other options on the menu again if I can. But! The biggest downside of Torotea is its location. It is far from where I live. Here's a thing, though. If it is just far, I understand. If the food or drinks are really, really good to my liking, I will sacrifice the long drive to go there even if it is far, only if it is close to the freeway exit. Torotea is situated in, like, the middle of a residential area by a school, and so even after I exit the freeway, I have to drive miles and miles to get there. That is a big no-no for me. I wish they had considered another location to open, but this could only apply to me. I had the Ember Milk Tea with Barley Jelly, and it was sooooo good. I love the roasted, nutty flavor from the jelly as well as the milk tea itself. I personally love this kind of flavor, and I look for it whenever I am out and about. I also got my friend a Roasted Barley Iced Tea with a little sweetener as he preferred, and he enjoyed it as well. The line was pretty long, and I did have to wait about 15 minutes to order and another 15 minutes to get the drinks, so if you are in a hurry, it's not the best option for you. First time I had toro tea was at my house in the first there was a bit left over that I stole from my brother when I came back to visit LA from NYC. I was like woah! This tea is really good. The next few days I was heading to Pomona/Diamond Bar anyways so I stopped by to get my own cup of tea. My brother calls this the weird little plaza. But when you walk into the tea shop the lights are dim and it takes you into a way trendier warm calm vibe. The interior of the shop is well thought out and designed to let you have a specific experience. The workers know their product well and will answer your questions since the teas are very unique. Each store also has its own special location tea. The marketing is very good. Anyways but the star is their unique teas. Their milk tea and pure teas are all really unique. We bought 4 different milk teas and had a blast comparing them. I really enjoy the bamboo milk tea and Uva. Im not a huge boba person so I really enjoyed the teas not feeling super heavy. All the creamer is non diary creamer. The 2nd time I visited was with a friend on Thanksgiving noon. There was a wait list to get into the store where you can order 10 drink max. I guess people order it for their parties? We waited about 20 minutes and got our teas promptly. It was nice since we actually got to sit down inside and enjoy our tea since we went to hangout and catch up with some friends. Torotea has been my go-to spot since its grand opening in 2024! Their drinks are all so fragrant, and I have most likely tried every drink the key. My favorite milk tea is the Koan-I'm with the black tea jelly, and for fruit drink, it would be osmanthus citrusy refresher, which is a very refreshing and light drink. The ambiance is very calm, and it's a very modern interior. There's limited seating though, and more of a grab & go spot. Torotea has been my favorite tea spot the past year-- I think it's dethroned Chi Cha San Chen and 3Cattea in terms of tea quality and selection. Definitely stop by to try their high-quality drinks: Torotea's teas feature drinks with several different flavor profiles (varying levels of sweetness, astringency, tartness, etc.). This includes florals, creamy blacks, roasts, einspanners, and cocktail-like fruit teas. All of their teas have a subdued, but clear and pronounced flavor-- which are excellent indicators of perfectly steeped teas that are devoid of added flavorings. (The only drink that is an exception to this is the popcorn milk tea, which is probably the sweetest drink on the menu.) Torotea doesn't include boba in their toppings-- instead, the topping of choice are jellies that are made in house. They're firm, but also have a nice gelatinous "chew." The black sugar tapiochi is great with milk teas, and they also have other offerings like osmanthus and barley jellies. (If you aren't sure what jelly goes with which drink, order from their signature menu.) You cannot go wrong with any drink-- my favorites include the Mulberry Oolong (sour and refreshing), the Uva Milk Tea (a smooth and sweet black tea), and their Barley Tea (order it with barley jelly). Service is quick, the interior is tasteful, and there's free samples and spa water to try while you wait. If you're visiting on the weekend-- join the waitlist before arriving to hold your place in line. read more

My second time here and went around 2:50pm so the store wasn't too packed and service was quick. Went to try their roasted barley tea and i absolutely love it! I really love how you can taste the nutty from the barley and mochi gave a nice touch sweetness as well. If you want something tea flavor and not so sweetness, i recommend this! read more

3.5 Stars but will bump down to a 3. I don't really get the hype. I wanted to love Torotea so bad--especially with my friend's glowing recommendation, but maybe I just need to try a different drink next time. Is it good, yes. Is it amazing to warrant the craze and a 30 minute wait to just go into the store? Maybe not. Before you can even go into the store, you will need to add yourself to the Yelp waitlist on an ipad in front of the store to even step foot in the store. From there you will have to wait in another (shorter) line to then put your order at the register. Pro Tip: Add yourself to the Yelp waitlist on the Yelp app while you are driving there for less of a wait. Crème Brûlée Milk Tea - Firstly I am not a huge milk drinker in general, so this wasn't my usual choice. The milk tea was good, and perfectly sweet! Just right. My issue is that the milk tea didn't have a strong tea flavor, so it tasted more like milk. Also the crème brûlée on top did not have a nice thick sugar crust from the blow torch. Crème Brûlées are known for that sugary crust that cracks and mine was just a light sugar crust. I would also add that the crème brûlée was a weird consistency. A bit similar to a thick paste. It did not incorporate well when I broke the custard down into the drink--the custard with the tapioca jelly at the bottom didn't go together at all. Cool concept, but the execution isn't as good as it sounds. Some things are just meant to be enjoyed separately. Calamansi Oolong Twist - I love fruit teas, and this didn't deliver for me. The Calamansi was strong but the tea flavor was lacking. Felt as though I was just drinking calamansi juice with very little oolong flavor. What they do amazing here though are the Jellys! If you are a Jelly person this place is the perfect spot as they have perfected the art of boba jellys. Perfect texture, sweetness and flavor! Overall, I would like to come back and try it since my friend raved so much about Torotea, but I hope it can deliver next time. read more

Can't believe I haven't written a review about this place! This is a pretty good boba place in diamond bar! Torotea is known for their strong, quality teas and their drinks are unique! Now I don't know it I should call this place a boba spot since they don't actually sell the boba tapioca balls, instead they have tapiochi (like boba mochi) which I find really good! This mochi is still soft the next morning after refrigeration! I like their popcorn milk tea which is an Assam milk tea with popcorn syrup! The flavor of the popcorn is subtle and the brown sugar tapiochi pairs nicely with it. I've also had the misty oolong and the manor milk tea which is also great drink options. I've love this spot and I've tried MANY boba places. It's not your traditional drinks but my favorite is the popcorn milk tea and the Osmanthus . Two completely different drinks but if you like a bit more savory go for the first and something fruity and refreshing the latter. The tapiochi is light, sweet, and the texture is velvety. I prefer it over tapioca now! It's my go to spot now. Just know for the Diamond Bar location there is a yelp waitlist when it's peak hours. Love it so much I cone weekly. There's no need to gatekeep the g.o.a.t(ea) - Torotea. We all know, or maybe don't know, how insanely addictive their brown sugar tapiochi (Tapioca Mochi) is. The texture of the tapiochi is the softest jelly my brain could not comprehend. What have I been missing out on all of my life? I'm not even a tapioca pearl girl, but I love this! Think of a jelly and mochi fused into one and that's tapiochi. It even has a cute name. How can I resist?! I'm obsessed!! Enough raving about the tapiochi. Their drinks are top tier. I ordered their Popcorn Milk Tea which comes with the tapiochi. Life changing! It's perfectly sweet, milky, and smooth. Another favorite of mine is their Osmanthus Citrus Refresher! One of my new favorite boba places!!! My favorite was the tapioca mochi as the topping. I'm personally a fan of all things mochi so pairing this with the milk tea was delicious! It was my first time here so I asked the staff which black tea they recommended. I ultimately went with the Uva milk tea and I'm so glad I did! I love my milk teas so when I first heard about torotea and how delicious it was, I knew I had to try it out. I think gone are the days where the wait is like 1-2 hours (luckily you can wait around the area until it's your turn) but a typical wait is around 15-20 minutes now. You can either put your name down via the Yelp app, or if it's really busy, you may have to show up to put your own down. Once you're called, you check-in and then head inside to place your order. I love how they always have something new to sample. I've been able to try several of their teas but I keep going back for the drink each time. My favorite drink here is the Koan-Im Oolong Milk Tea + Brown Sugar Tapiochi (perfect ice, perfect sweetness). I love how you don't have to make any adjustments which shows they really know their drinks. The flavor of the tea really stands out and I love how the tapioca mochi is still even good the next day. It's good. I got the Jasmine Oolong. The jasmine flavor is very delicate, so I'll recommend getting no ice. Perfect sweet is a little on a undersweet side (hence perfect). I got extra sweet like a plebeian. The popcorn milk tea is very in-your-face in a good way, it's like liquified caramel corn. A great drink for movie nights or something. I'm not a fan of tapiochi, but they don't have regular boba. The inside of this place looks and feels like an art gallery, complete with fancy painted recessed walls and art exhib. I might be the last person in Diamond Bar to try this now famous tea spot that has been voted one of the best in San Gabriel Valley. Located in a pretty old school plaza next to Dominos in is Torotea. This place has had an hour or even two hours of a wait time since they have opened. It feels more like you are trying to get into a club than actually getting a drink. But trust me it is well worth it. You can Yelp Check in from time to time to see how long the wait is and also put yourself on the wait list. The interior is very clean and has a great vibe of being on vacation somewhere on an island with the ocean waves. The tea itself is lovely and they seem to make it when you order it so you can customize what you want with the ice level, and sweetness. Finally got to try this place out. I first thought it is just another tea shop but it proved me wrong. The strip mall offers plenty of parking. The had one of their employee to sign in customers outside. Once the customers receive the sms messages, then can enter inside the shop and order the desired drinks. The interior decor was plain and clean. Reminds me of the cave hotels in Turkey. The order process was fairly speedy. The preparation time was slightly longer than most shops but it is worth the wait. The tea was very tasty and the jello they used offered yummy texture. Every sip was very enjoyable. Came here to try the Jasmine Matcha Latte. Unfortunately, as soon as I saw the dull yellow-green color of the drink, I knew I wasn't in for a good ride... It tasted very chalky and powdery. I'm also surprised they don't add oat milk as an option, especially since that's such a popular milk alternative for matcha lattes. I also got the Cassia Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Tapioca Mochi. It was okay- mostly just tastes like milk and I couldn't taste the tea flavor very much. I tried their popular Popcorn Milk Tea during my last visit and it was pretty true to its name, but was too sweet to me, so I was looking forward to trying a different milk tea here. For their drinks in general, I don't like that the ice options on their online ordering is either "perfect ice" or none. Their "perfect ice" is such little ice that it melts and waters down the drink so fast. I would love if they added more options. Friends have been raving about this new boba shop in Rowland Heights. Not like any regular boba shop, this place is pretty unique with their concepts and creativity. And the one thing I always hear from friends is "line is mad long", but I'm curious. Torotea specializes in different tea or milk tea flavors along with their tapioca mochi. This is probably my most favorite topping in drinks. I got the popular Popcorn Milk Tea with Tapiochi and Mulberry Oolong with Osmanthus Jelly. Milk Tea was delicious, not too sweet. I could smell and taste the popcorn scent. Mulberry was quite similar to Raspberry and Blueberry combined, but the highlight was the Osmanthus jelly. Surprisingly fragrant, tasty tea as well. Obsessed with this place. If we are ever in Rowland Heights or Diamond Bar, we now make sure to go to Torotea every chance we get. We have waited close to an hour before for this because of how much we like the drinks here. If you are looking for a high quality, refined boba place, torotea is for you! Our family and friends all loveeeeee the popcorn milk tea. I typically will forgo boba in my drinks but the tapiochi here has such a good texture and taste that I get it in my drinks all the time. I've tried 3 of their other milk tea varieties and they were all good. You can ask the cashiers and they will be able to tell you which ones are more floral, tea forward, or on the sweeter side. They really have a drink for different preferences. I'm a huge matcha lover but their matcha einspainner was a little too sweet and creamy for me. It was borderline milkshake-y for me. I would get it when I'm craving something super decadent every now and then but would pass on it being my regular-go-to drink. The barley tea here is really great. It tastes like a sweetened Korean barley tea that is good quality tea. If you are in the area, check this place out. This place was popping off on social media so I wanted to check it out. We came here on a Friday evening and there was a wait. There was an employee standing by the door outside, putting your name down on the waitlist. Our wait was roughly 45 minutes, and we just waited in the car, as there was no line outside the store and it looked like everyone else was also waiting in their cars. The cafe is located in a plaza, so there is free parking available although there's a bunch of other stores located in that same plaza so parking may be limited during peak hours. Once it was our turn, we had to check in with the employee standing by the door and they let us in. The aesthetic of the store is really nice, minimalistic with some indoor seating available. There was some milk teas that we could sample along with their jellies. Jasmine matcha latte (3/5): I was excited to try this drink since I personally love matcha and jasmine. This drink was decent but I wasn't blown away. It tasted like a regular matcha latte and was on the sweeter side, but I did like the brown sugar tapiochi. It was really chewy and brought out the flavor of the drink. Ember milk tea with barley jelly (4/5): The jelly was definitely the star of the drink, as I really liked the texture. I normally do not write these types of reviews, but the inefficiency at Torotea wasbeyond frustrating.To even enter and order, you are forced to join a Yelp Waitlist. When I signed up, there were 4 "ghost" names ahead of me, but no one was actually present outside the shop. A group of four arrived after me and signed onto the Yelp iPad right in front of me. Despite me standing directly by the door with my 6-month-old baby, the employee ignored the queue entirely. She didn't bother calling names listed on the waitlist; she simply saw the group, asked for their name, and let them in right in front of me. When I pointed out that I was ahead of them, she just said "sorry" and asked me my name. If you are going to force every customer to sign a digital waitlist, the bare minimum is actually using it to manage the door. To be skipped while standing right there, when the shop wasn't even busy, was the breaking point. This is a boba shop, not a sit-down restaurant. Forcing a digital waitlist for a simple order is a "dumb" system, and the lack of employee execution demonstrates poor training. I wish this review was about the actual product, but the service was so frustrating I left without ordering. Save your time and go elsewhere. read more

Plus: love that they offer samples of their teas in case you want to try something new! Great place to stop before heading out on a road trip, almost no line at 12pm on a Friday. Strangely, every time I've been here, there's been no line! Lucky me, but that definitely skews my rating to be a little more in favor of them. Their milk teas take the cake for me. The popcorn milk tea is great, but nothing special. I prefer the dalgona and the teas with cream. Usually, the flavor of the milk tea is so light and delicate, not too creamy!! I appreciate how the flavors are so fresh. Their matcha is just alright. Honestly, I have high standards for matcha and their matcha could definitely be less grainy. The fruit teas are tasty and refreshing, thankfully none of them are too sweet. The service is always super friendly and helpful with explaining different recommendations. Got their matcha tea which was great! Will definitely be back to have it again and try some of their other drinks. Drinks were great only downside is it does get really crowded, the cafe itself was super crowded and loud making for a slightly overwhelming ambiance. Had to wait on the waitlist for about 20-30min which wasn't horrible but surprising as I've never been on a waitlist to simply place an order. Staff was super kind and helpful though!
