PEACH OOLONG FRAPPE: real peach flavor which is unique from other places. My favorite drink in the rotation. DA HONG PAO MILK TEA: fragrant tea as well. So this tea place is actually from London and it is the first location that is opening up here in California. I opted to order from Fantuan for pickup while I was waiting for my order (of delicious veggie rice at No. 1 Rice) and decided to stroll over slowly since the app said it would take 15 min. First, for a rainy day, the place was surprisingly busy. Service was super friendly, with staff asking me if I need any help since I entered and just stood to the side. When they heard I was picking up an order, they asked me for my number and let me know the order was ready to go and asked if I wanted a bag; something I super appreciated since sometimes I don't need a bag and feel bad when it's already bagged. Grabbed the drinks and headed home to try; here's what mummy and I decided; all teas were less sugar: Peach oolong milk tea, less ice - solid peach flavour, but more of a "kids drink" feel for us. Could see my nieces and nephews liking this one. Gardenia milk tea, cold (no ice) - very solid gardenia flavour, not overwhelming but definitely gardenia-y. Another overseas tea franchise enters the fray and it's an all out boba battle since so many of them are popping up nearby and within the same time span. I initially got try Chayan since my boyfriend brought back one their milk tea pouches, but I finally got a chance to visit recently when they were having their BOGO free for their Gardenia series, which is either their Gardenia milk tea or their Gardenia tea frappe. The pouched milk tea I got was just a standard milk tea. Reminds of something you can get at an HK cafe with the dense milky flavor of it. Pretty good. Sadly the same cannot be said for the Gardenia series drinks that I got during their BOGO. If I paid full price, I don't think I'd be very happy, but at the very least I got BOGO free. For both the Gardenia Milk Tea and the Gardenia Tea frappe, I got it with less ice and 0% sugar. I usually order at this level to get more of the actual tea, floral, etc. subtle notes to the drink that isn't just sugar, but that's what really made these drinks fall behind in the boba wars. Both of the drinks were really light in flavor and honestly tasted just like their standard creamer milk if it was brewed next to a gardenia flower. I think La Croix has a stronger flavor than the drinks that I got which was pretty disappointing. Maybe the tea wasn't steeped long enough due to the high volume of orders, who knows? The tea frappe had foam at the top which was pretty to look at, but this, along with the thin trio straws, are the newest trend in all of the tea franchises opening around and sadly Chayan didn't stand out. When I picked up my drink, I was asked if I wanted a bag. Inside the bag were two plastic cup holders to keep the drink from spilling -- such a thoughtful touch! The Guava Lemon Tea was sooo good: super refreshing, not artificial-tasting, and perfectly balanced between tangy and sweet. I highly recommend it. I ordered at the kiosk and got the drink quickly. The cashier gave me a stirring straw that had three holes. I realized this was a great way to drink the tea because the narrow straw helps with savoring the drink. It helped with my tendency to finish a drink quickly with a normal-sized straw. They had a buy-one-get-one-free deal for their genmaicha drinks the day before, so I wish I knew about that deal then. Service was nice and offered us samples of the jasmine MT and osmanthus MT. I decided to get the jasmine MT since that's usually my go to for comparing new boba spots. Their regular sweetness is half sweet already so I would recommend just sticking with this if you usually get half sweet. Unfortunately, it was quite diluted and watered down and didn't have a very strong tea flavor. They also have a foam top that has pecans in it but they did not make the allergens clear and I'm allergic to pecans so hopefully they make this clear for other customers in case of any accidental ingestion! read more

That is something I don't see too often elsewhere, and I think I made the right choice. My drink was so good. It was subtle, not too sweet, and you can still taste both lychee and osmanthus in the drink pleasantly. The drink came out really quick in an aesthetically pleasing cup and packaging.
