4/5 For some of you who might not know, CHAYAN is: * Chayan -- a UK / London-born tea brand * Origin: London, United Kingdom, originally known as Tastetea * Specialty: Modern-style Chinese tea, frappes, and "chappuccinos" topped with cream and nuts * The brand has also expanded internationally, including locations in Canada such as British Columbia. LOCATION & PARKING This CHAYAN is located inside Pacific Plaza on Colima Rd. The parking lot is shared with the other businesses in the plaza, and it's not very big, so parking can sometimes be a little limited. The shop is on the ground level, right next to the stairs that lead up to the second floor. ORDERING & ATMOSPHERE Once you walk into the store, there are two self-order kiosks on the left where you can place your own order. You can also walk straight to the counter and have one of the staff members help you. The staff members I interacted with were nice and friendly. Usually, there aren't too many customers inside, so the atmosphere tends to be pretty quiet and relaxing. PEACH OOLONG MILK TEA I've visited this place twice. The first time, I ordered the Peach Oolong Milk Tea with their chestnut boba--or whatever their specialty topping is called. Sorry, I forgot the exact name, but it's definitely not the regular black boba. The drink was pretty good. It wasn't overly sweet, and I liked how the peach flavor blended nicely with the tea. You could still taste the tea instead of the peach flavor completely overpowering it. DA HONG PAO MILK TEA The second time, I ordered the Da Hong Pao Milk Tea with the same chestnut topping. This one was decent as well. Nothing crazy or mind-blowing, but still an enjoyable milk tea. OVERALL Both times I came here, I had a good experience. I'm giving CHAYAN 4 stars because while none of the drinks really "wowed" me, they were still good enough for me to consider this place above average overall. Friendly staff Nice and quiet atmosphere Drinks aren't overly sweet Good tea flavor Easy ordering with kiosks or at the counter The drinks just need a little more of that "wow factor" for me to give this place a full 5 stars. Will definitely come back again and try some of their other drinks!
The staff was very fast and efficient. You can tell it's pretty authentic Chinese because everyone and the customers were speaking full Chinese. There's seating indoors with the ordering kiosks. Unfortunately, the tea flavor wasn't very strong and it was more milky. Not too sweet even at the Recommended levels so that's good. Black Tea Cold Brew: not strong enough and just tasted generic. Da-Hong-Pao Tea Frappe: very milky with a hint of a nutty black tea. The cream and crunchies on top were a nice addition. Osmanthus & Lychee Lemon Tea: very refreshing and sweeter than the other drinks. I'd definitely recommend it. With so many boba places in the area, especially with ChaHalo down the street, it might be difficult to succeed.
Matcha lovers, this one is worth the stop I visited Chayan not too long after they opened, and this was such a good find in Rowland Heights. First of all, the space itself is beautiful. The traditional Chinese-inspired aesthetic gives the shop such an elegant, calm atmosphere. It isn't overly flashy or trying too hard to be trendy--it just feels peaceful and thoughtfully put together. Definitely the kind of place where you can slow down and actually enjoy your tea. But let's talk about the reason I came here: the Matcha Green Tea Frappe. SO. GOOD. What immediately stood out to me was that this didn't taste like one of those drinks where the actual matcha gets completely buried underneath sugar. You can genuinely taste the matcha and the quality of the tea. It has that distinct matcha flavor while still being creamy and enjoyable. And the topping?! Instead of just throwing regular whipped cream on it, they top it with whipped matcha and roasted peanuts, which gives it this really interesting combination of creamy, earthy, nutty flavors. The peanuts add a little texture and complement the matcha surprisingly well. It tasted intentional rather than just sweet for the sake of being sweet. That's probably my biggest recommendation before coming here: if you're looking for an extremely sugary, dessert-style matcha, this may not be what you're looking for. This is much more about actually tasting the tea. If you want something loaded with sugar where the matcha disappears somewhere in the background... Starbucks is right there. But if you appreciate a more balanced drink where you can actually taste good-quality matcha, I absolutely recommend giving Chayan a try. Beautiful atmosphere, quality tea, unique flavors, and an overall really relaxing experience. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

I took a sip of the "Fei Zi Xiao Lychee" and instantly couldn't stop smiling--it's a flawless blend of fresh lychee sweetness and crisp tea notes. It literally lives up to its name and makes you happy with every sip! What touched me the most was the cultural vibe. The walls are lined with exquisite framed displays detailing different tea bases--like Wuyi Da Hong Pao, Jin Jun Mei, Jasmine Snow, Yunnan Pu'er, Taiwan Dong Ding Oolong, and Osmanthus Tieguanyin--complete with real tea leaves packed into the bottom! Reading through all those cool tea facts while waiting for my order actually made the wait feel super meaningful. The two melon drinks I tried this time totally blew me away: Melon Milk Tea The ultimate combo of sweet melon and refreshing tea! It's unbelievably smooth and packed with natural melon aroma, but thanks to the tea base, it's not overly sweet at all. A total summer must-try gem! Melon Lemon Tea Freshly muddled lemon + sweet melon + roasted Oolong! The first sip hits you with bright citrus sweetness, followed by an explosion of fruity melon and deep Oolong notes. Acidic, sweet, and crisp--it's the ultimate heat-buster! If you love authentic, high-quality tea flavors, you can thank me later!
The Osmanthus and Lychee Lemon Tea was nice and refreshing after such a hot day in the sun. I couldn't really taste any of the lychee flavor, but I think I could sense a hint of the osmanthus under all the lemon. I kind of wish the seeds had been strained out of the drink because my first sip shot a seed right to the back of my throat. I also bit into another seed and it made my whole mouth bitter. I had to remember to lift my straw up to only drink from the top whenever I took another sip. I like that they are trying to be eco-friendly with their straws, but the paper straw sadly disintegrated in my drink and left paper on my tongue after a while. May I suggest a slightly more durable option like bamboo straws? The sign inside was a little too bright. All the seating faces the giant sign, so my eyes were tearing up from having it burn my retinas. Otherwise, I think the design is really nice.

I enjoyed the drinks here. Chayan was open late and we came in late on a weekday night after dinner. The lot has plenty of spots in the late hours of the night. The location does kiosk ordering and there's about 3 tables inside if you want to enjoy your drinks there. The staff interaction is fairly minimal until it's time to pick up your drinks. They do offer a pitcher of samples to pour for yourself. I ordered the Matcha Coconut Milk Tea and my wife the Da-hong-pao Tea Lemon Tea. The drinks were done fast as we were the only ones at the time. As far the flavors, I was a fan of the Matcha Coconut Milk Tea. It was light and flavorful with balanced sweetness. It must of had a decent amount of caffeine because I was awake for a bit longer. Lol. My wife's lemon tea was also a good selection. Especially, if you don't want any matcha or latte drinks this was a great Tea option. The location is cool and they have info about each of their teas on the wall. Originating from China, this tea shop is known for their Chinese-style milk teas, fruit teas, and tea frappes, which have strong brewed-tea flavor profiles instead of overly sugary drinks. I really like the vibes from this shop. It feels like a modern Chinese tea lounge with seating rather than a grab-and-go boba shop. The store itself as well as the cups and packaging are aesthetically designed and visually appealing. I had the Black Tea Frappe, which tasted smooth, authentic, and lightly sweet. The whipped cream and crushed honey-roasted pecans on top were delicious when mixed into the tea. I also tried some of my husband's Osmanthus Milk Tea, which tasted creamy and had a light floral finish. Both drinks were very aromatic with the perfect balance of tea and milk. I would definitely recommend both of these drinks.
3.5 rounded to 4... I ordered online and it was ready for pickup pretty quick! The store was aesthetic and it seems like people order on the tablet. There's a good amount of seating and it's a good hangout spot. I got the lychee osmanthus milk tea and it was alright. Theres barely any tea flavor. It was more milky than anything. I got it less sweet and it was good enough for me. The aroma of lychee was there but I think it's just the lychee syrup. Overall maybe if I was in the area I might be down to try another drink but I have a feeling it might be too milky for me.
Even though this plaza has like 10 different boba spots around Chayan, I think this place is pretty standout. The drinks were so good that my friend and I bought another one for the road... We got the Osmanthus and Lychee Milk tea, which had the right amount of peach flavor without overpowering the authentic and fresh oolong tea they had in this drink, and we also got the Black Tea Frappe, which was my favorite out of the two. The crunchy bits that come with this drink taste so good and are addicting LOL, and the flavor of the tea itself is very strong and enjoyable even after a hefty meal. The interior is very modern on the inside and pretty standard for a boba shop, but it was really fun to be able to sit and chat here. The drinks are made very fast, and ordering is through a kiosk system, which makes it very efficient and easier to order.
I was in the area and stopped at this shopping center for tea. There are several options, hot, cold, sweetness level, plus add- on toppings and Boba. I chose Peach Oolong tea. I added whipped cream and some crunchy chopped nuts on top. I realize it's been awhile since I've been here. I will make a note to go by in the coming week to see what the flavor of the month is. Had to check this spot out after hearing it was opened so my wife and I visited on a busy weekend afternoon but our drinks came out really quick. First impressions is that they have two self ordering kiosks. Already a HUGE plus. Space is pretty standard for a grab and go combo with hangout spot. Couple of tables inside and all pretty spacious. Very clean as well which is a nice plus. I love the subtle light green deco all around the shop, which gave of chill vibes overall. Parking - Free in a large outdoor parking lot. Some spots can be a bit tight so watch out for that. One thing I always look at when I visit new tea shops are their cups. Chayan has great cups, sturdy, cute yet simple design, and easy to hold. It's also pretty unique compared to other shops when you think about it. -- WHAT WE ORDERD -- -- Peach Oolong Milk Tea -- ($6.29) - This might be the perfect drink on a HOT DAY. It's refreshing, not too overpowering when it comes to the peach. Very standard and to the point. Very easy to sip and finish within seconds! -- Black Tea Frappe -- ($6.89) - Love this drink. It comes with an option to add Pecan nuts on top of your whipped cream thats above some fresh milk tea. Made the drink very creamy but also very savory to a sense. Refreshing and perfect on a hot day. It's also one of their most popular options, highly recommend. Overall, a wonderful tea spot addition to SoCal. Loved the vibes here and it's certainly one of my go to tea places now whenever I'm in Rowland. With similar vibes to Molly Tea when it comes to quality, I'm excited to visit again to try other drink options. They do seem to have BOGO promotions along with other promotions often as well which is nice.
I had Chayan in my bookmarks and was excited to try since I was having dinner nearby. I went with the black tea frappe but I personally wasn't super impressed
Came around 9 pm at night on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. The interior of the store is nice and it's also very clean. The only downside to this location is that the outside of the store and the plaza itself is very dark. Some nice lights where the stone tables are or fairy lights outside the store under the stairs would be nice. The drinks we got were the: Osmanthus lychee lemon tea Melon lemon tea Da hong pao tea with cream foam on top. Overall the drinks were all good I've seen people say the milk teas weren't good but I didn't have any problem with the drinks I got so I was very happy with that. I'll definitely go again if I'm around the area. read more

I ordered the Osmanthus lychee milk tea with oat popping boba. The Osmanthus flavor was very light but the lychee flavor was strong. I prefer a stronger tea flavor but the drink itself was not bad! The popping oat boba was interesting, but I liked it. It has a nutty flavor and the same texture as popping boba. My friend got one of their lemonades and it was delicious! I think they're better known for their lemonades than their milk tea drinks. Service was good. We got our drinks quickly! Plenty of seating inside the store. There is also plenty of parking out in front of the store. read more

My first visit here was great. I had the jasmine milk tea and the genmaicha milk tea, and both were exactly what I want from a milk tea. The tea came through strong, the sweetness was spot on, and it just tasted well made. So I came back. Twice. And both times were a letdown. The tea flavor was much weaker and the drinks came out milky instead of tea-forward. Even the sweetness level they recommend didn't taste right anymore, which is frustrating when you've already dialed in your order. I also tried the osmanthus lemon iced tea and it came out bitter. Not a subtle bitterness either. That one I wouldn't order again. I don't think the recipe changed so much as the consistency slipped. When they get it right, it's genuinely one of the better milk teas around. I just wish I could count on it. Still rooting for this place. Hoping the next visit is like the first one. read more

I was in the area and stopped at this shopping center for tea. There are several options, hot, cold, sweetness level, plus add- on toppings and Boba. I chose Peach Oolong tea. I added whipped cream and some crunchy chopped nuts on top. I realize it's been awhile since I've been here. I will make a note to go by in the coming week to see what the flavor of the month is. Had to check this spot out after hearing it was opened so my wife and I visited on a busy weekend afternoon but our drinks came out really quick. First impressions is that they have two self ordering kiosks. Already a HUGE plus. Space is pretty standard for a grab and go combo with hangout spot. Couple of tables inside and all pretty spacious. Very clean as well which is a nice plus. I love the subtle light green deco all around the shop, which gave of chill vibes overall. Parking - Free in a large outdoor parking lot. Some spots can be a bit tight so watch out for that. One thing I always look at when I visit new tea shops are their cups. Chayan has great cups, sturdy, cute yet simple design, and easy to hold. It's also pretty unique compared to other shops when you think about it. -- WHAT WE ORDERD -- -- Peach Oolong Milk Tea -- ($6.29) - This might be the perfect drink on a HOT DAY. It's refreshing, not too overpowering when it comes to the peach. Very standard and to the point. Very easy to sip and finish within seconds! -- Black Tea Frappe -- ($6.89) - Love this drink. It comes with an option to add Pecan nuts on top of your whipped cream thats above some fresh milk tea. Made the drink very creamy but also very savory to a sense. Refreshing and perfect on a hot day. It's also one of their most popular options, highly recommend. Overall, a wonderful tea spot addition to SoCal. Loved the vibes here and it's certainly one of my go to tea places now whenever I'm in Rowland. With similar vibes to Molly Tea when it comes to quality, I'm excited to visit again to try other drink options. Stopped by here before heading home, my sister bought me a milk tea and it was really good! I already knew it would be high-quality because of the fancy cups, the insulated carry-out bags, and the tiny stirrer-straws which usually indicate it's a higher-quality tea house, and I was right haha! The flavor carried through sooo well! My classic milk tea was rich, creamy, and the perfect level of sweetness! Service was fast! Staff were friendly :) read more
Chayan was fairly fast with the ordering and prepping process, I found no issues with the wait time between ordering and getting my drink. The service was pretty good overall, it was pretty straightforward, the staff made sure everything was all right, and offered me a bag. The tea shop itself, is pretty cute. It's in one of the Rowland Heights Plaza, so given the situation, they did their best, and parking should not be an issue, as, you have plenty of options from front to back. The jasmine green milk, tea, was a bit confusing? I wasn't sure what to expect? What the green means? This was the most recommended item on their menu, we thought it tasted like a banana milk tea for some reason. A bit confusing, but I do see the hype. read more
Chayan is one of many newly opened tea focused shops in Los Angeles that uses teapresso machines and apparently the brand originated from a tea shop named Tastea (now Chayan) in London. Besides United Kingdom, Chayan also has locations in Vancouver, Toronto, and Seattle. [Parking]: I had no issue finding an available parking spot within the plaza on Saturday at 9:30 PM. [Ordering & ambiance]: Customers place orders via kiosk machines and there are no outdoor tables. The shop offered free samples and it was Pre-Qingming Milk Tea on the day of our visit. [Menu]: The top recommended drinks on Yelp are Osmanthus Lychee Milk Tea and Black Tea Frappe; however, the shop offered one-day only BOGO (buy one get one free) deal for Pre-Qingming Longjing Milk Tea and Matcha Pre-Qingming Longjing Latte. Our party ultimately went with both drinks. Just like Chagee and Molly Tea, this shop offers mini straws that make drinkers to take small and slow sips. *** Pre-Qingming Longjing Milk Tea ($6.29) & Matcha Pre-Qingming Longjing Latte ($5.99): Both drinks weren't overly sweet at regular sweetness. The matcha drink wasn't too bad and not watery & it was a solid option; however, I personally preferred the milk tea as it had a really nice and smooth finish. *** I like Chayan a bit better than Chagee - slightly better quality and more drink options to choose from. First time trying out this spot. Not a fan of the selection. There wasn't good options for any specialty drinks. They're more simple. The The Osmanthus and Lychee Milk Tea has a potent flavor but can't really taste the lychee in it. read more
They had another BOGO for pre-Qing Ming Festival so we went and tried both drinks available for this promo. We came about an hour after they opened so they weren't busy and there was no line to order. -longjing milk tea ($6.29): creamy milk tea with tea flavor but couldn't tell it apart from other green milk teas. (4/5) -longjing matcha latte ($5.29): smallish cup and not very strong matcha flavor. Leans more on the milky side but wasn't quite creamy either. (3/5) read more

Stopped by because we were curious about the "Best milk tea from the UK"! The store is very clean and organized. You can self-order on the two kiosks. Drinks were made very quickly. GENMAICHA FRAPPE: the frappe is just the whipped cream on top. The drink itself is not blended, but the tea is fragrant with notes of rice tea. Pecan bits on top are a fun crunch. PEACH OOLONG FRAPPE: real peach flavor which is unique from other places. My favorite drink in the rotation. DA HONG PAO MILK TEA: fragrant tea as well. I like how they have the small skinny straws to allow you to savor the drink slowly and get all the notes Saw on their wall that if you bring in your pet, you could get a little treat for them too! read more
Chayan was exactly what I was looking forward to in Chinese-style premium tea. I was missing these drinks badly after my trip to China, and stores like Chayan are exactly what I was searching for! The teas are high quality and uniquely crafted with a rich taste in every sip. Not to mention, their cups and the interior of the store are so fancy! I got their Peach Oolong Tea Frappe. It had a pink whipped cream and sprinkled atop were honey-roasted pecans. It is one of their most popular drinks, and for a great reason. These teas are pricy, so I will always miss how cheap these teas were in China, but they literally brought it here in RH for you to enjoy. I really suggest Chayan if you have never had Chinese-style premium tea drinks before. read more

This time, I ordered an osmanthus and lychee milk tea with regular sugar. We had our drinks inside the cafe, and they were prepared relatively quickly. I enjoyed the floral taste from the drink. It was just right with regular sweetness. The cafe was bright and empty, but a few other customers eventually arrived and stayed inside with their drinks. The music was a little loud, but it wasn't overwhelming. However, the music choice was a little unconventional for a cafe as it was a rather niche and amusing type of electronic dance music. read more
I can see why people like the drinks from here. The tea flavor was strong and aromatic. I got matcha cloud jasmine tea, and it was not too sweet with a punch of jasmine tea flavor. I really liked the pecan added on top of the matcha cloud, it was nutty and crunchy, a perfect pair with the tea. The interior was pretty standard for a new tea shop featuring 2 kiosks to order drinks. I'm looking forward to come back to try other drinks. read more

I had their Da Hong Pao tea lemon and it was on the sour side. The Jasmine Lemon Tea tastes like a very sweet lemonade. It had no Jasmine flavor. I was looking forward to try a new tea place but the drinks did not leave a good impression. The coffee straw was so hard to suck. It got stuck many times. I even tried the paper straw and they were no good as it became soggy. Both drinks had seeds that surprised me so this would not be good for any kids. read more

We ordered the Osmanthus Lychee Lemon Tea and the Black Tea Frappe--both were absolutely delicious. The lemon tea was especially refreshing and PERFECT for these warm days we're having. Service was amazing too--everyone was so nice and welcoming. And major bonus points for being dog-friendly! They even give pawpaw cups for our doggos, which we absolutely loved. Such a cute touch so our dogs could enjoy the visit with us :) Definitely coming back! read more

Very cute small boba place. Their tea quality is very good. We got the Osmanthus Lychee Lemon Tea and Camellia Oolong Frappe. All the flavors in the tea were very distinct and were refreshing. The Frappe is seasonal and was very floral and light. Drinks also came out quickly! Definitely try it if you're in the area! read more

Second time visiting and the quality didn't change from the first visit. We came back to try out the new drink flavors. Peach Oolong Tea A refreshing peach tea base that is light and creamy with a slight oolong taste. You can opt for whip cream with pecans on top. Aftertaste has a slight fragrant taste of peach. 9/10 Da Hong Pao Milk Tea Refreshing Oolong tea base that has a light taste. Aftertaste has a slight hint roast flavor and creaminess. 8/10 Ordered on the kiosk and we got our drinks pretty fast. Staff kindly asked specifically for optional whip cream and nuts for the Peach Oolong tea. Clean and spacious with tables and seating for hanging out with friends. read more

Once you step inside the shop, multiple staff greeted us with welcoming smile. They were super friendly and helpful. Ordered 2 drinks via Kiosk. Da-Hong-Pao Lemon Tea Guava Lemon Tea (Jasmine Tea) Both drinks were delicious with fresh fragrant. Cute cup cover like a trending teddy bear. Service was great. Ambiance is nice. Few tables inside or you can just grab and go. I will definitely be back to try non dairy latte next time. read more
Chayan is a very aesthetic boba shop in Rowland. When you walk in, the space is decorated with a festive Lunar New Year theme. As soon as I entered, the worker asked if I needed help, and I gave her my online order number. She was efficient, friendly, and I noticed they were offering a few special deals for Lunar New Year, which was a nice touch. There's plenty of seating, making it a good spot to hang out with friends. A group of six was sitting near us, so it did get a bit loud, but the space overall feels open and comfortable. As for the drink, it was just okay for me. The flavor leaned more toward milk than tea, so the tea taste wasn't as strong as I prefer. read more
Super cute tea store! We made the trek from Alhambra and it was so worth it! It's like a mix of MoonTea and Molly Tea. Interior is very well decorated with samples at the front. The samples are in a very clean container (compared to a typical press lever dispenser) and it was super cold and yummy. We ordered the -Da Hong Pao Milk Tea (7/10) -Da Hong Pao Lemon Tea (7/10) -Matcha Green Tea Frappe (6/10) -Camellia Oolong Tea (8/10) Teas averaged from $6-$8 dollars. I liked the flavors but the gripe was that the frappe wasn't really icey moreso a matcha latte. Otherwise it was a fun experience. Staff were really sweet. read more
Another overseas tea franchise enters the fray and it's an all out boba battle since so many of them are popping up nearby and within the same time span. I initially got try Chayan since my boyfriend brought back one their milk tea pouches, but I finally got a chance to visit recently when they were having their BOGO free for their Gardenia series, which is either their Gardenia milk tea or their Gardenia tea frappe. The pouched milk tea I got was just a standard milk tea. Reminds of something you can get at an HK cafe with the dense milky flavor of it. Pretty good. Sadly the same cannot be said for the Gardenia series drinks that I got during their BOGO. If I paid full price, I don't think I'd be very happy, but at the very least I got BOGO free. For both the Gardenia Milk Tea and the Gardenia Tea frappe, I got it with less ice and 0% sugar. I usually order at this level to get more of the actual tea, floral, etc. subtle notes to the drink that isn't just sugar, but that's what really made these drinks fall behind in the boba wars. Both of the drinks were really light in flavor and honestly tasted just like their standard creamer milk if it was brewed next to a gardenia flower. I think La Croix has a stronger flavor than the drinks that I got which was pretty disappointing. Maybe the tea wasn't steeped long enough due to the high volume of orders, who knows? The tea frappe had foam at the top which was pretty to look at, but this, along with the thin trio straws, are the newest trend in all of the tea franchises opening around and sadly Chayan didn't stand out. Their cat stickers are pretty cute though and the bag is aesthetically pleasing. read more

Ordered teas through DoorDash from this place. I have tried peach oolong tea with soy milk and matcha coconut milk latte. The teas weren't very strong but still refreshing. Not my top choice for teas though! read more
