I happened to be nearby and decided to give Chayan a try. I have seen some pictures on Instagram, and being me, I am always down to try new places for tea drinks. Inside is pretty spacious with 4-5 tables and looks very new. I went right when they opened, so it was empty. I got myself an Osmanthus Lychee Milk Tea. That is something I don't see too often elsewhere, and I think I made the right choice. My drink was so good. It was subtle, not too sweet, and you can still taste both lychee and osmanthus in the drink pleasantly. The drink came out really quick in an aesthetically pleasing cup and packaging. Though I live far, so I can't come too often, I will occasionally think about it and come when I am in the area. I am hoping they open another location in SGV so I can be a regular. read more

Probably due to my love for London and milk tea drinks, I was really intrigued by UK-based Chayan when its first SoCal store arrived to Rowland Heights. Although we initially aimed to get some of their cream topped signature drinks, we settled on a matcha latte and classic lemon tea, both of which were light, high on flavor, but also not too sweet. I also really love the novelty of getting the "red envelope" cup, which is a beautiful cup in which you can tear off a character symbol on the surface to reveal whether you've won a prize. As of the time of this review, you can get this cup by following the @chayan_losangeles instagram account and in subsequent visits, show the store staff you are still following the account to keep getting the cup. Yes, we didn't visit the beautiful mahjong set they have displayed but we definitely would come back and try our luck again (and again). The staff was very friendly and the store also has this comforting shade of green that makes it incredibly pleasant to sit in. This is a new boba place that popped up in the area, and they deliver! They have a small, curated menu but every drink is made with top quality. My go-to drink is their Osmanthus x Lychee Lemon Tree - it is so refreshing and tastes like a perfect type of lemonade (neither too sweet or sour, and reminds me of an incredible sunny summer/spring day). There are lemon/lime slices and seeds in the drink, which may deter some, but I appreciate because it shows that they're using freshly squeeze lemon juice into the drink. The lychee flavor isn't as prominent as other boba drinks I've had, but I don't mind it since the overall drink experience is super light and balanced. The drinks are priced reasonably - my drink (with less ice and standard sugar) was $6.29 at the time of writing this review. It was a regular size and enough for me. The parking is also plentiful, although be wary, it's easy to turn into the wrong parking lot because the entrances are so close to one another. The store is a long rectangular shape, with light pastel tea green accents and rattan lamp and chairs, and a big light-up sign with their logo. The ambiance parallels the drink, as it's light, clean, and airy. The use of lighting in the store is minimal and intentional! Great for working with solid wifi as well! The customer service is also great. You can either order from the two screens or at the counter, where they're attentive and helpful when recommending drinks based on your personal preference. read more

I unfortunately was disappointed at the milk tea here. Ordering is via a self service kiosk and drinks came out fast. I usually like my milk teas with strong tea flavors. However the two milk teas we got tasted like straight up whole milk plus a tiny bit of tea flavor. The ratio was not how I typically enjoy milk teas. The genmaicha milk tea tasted like whole milk. Such a nice addition to the Rowland boba scene!!! I LOOOOVE it when my milk teas taste like tea!!! Like yes yes, the tea is nice and strong and fragrant and it's just so satisfying. I've tried the Puer milk tea (my fav) but I do admit it's a very acquired taste so you have to make sure you like the Puer tea. It's super earthy and together with the milk blends into something soooo satisfying for me. Also who else is out here making Puer milk tea I haven't seen very many around !!! Major props!! The black tea frappe is good too! I forget the name of their specific blend of black tea but that was good too! The whipped cream on top is more like fresh cream (think of Korean fresh cream cakes with the fruit in them) and so it doesn't taste jarring like whipped cream from a can. They do sprinkle pecans so be careful if you have an allergy!! The peach oolong tea is super refreshing. Like VERY peach forward. Not that artificial peach syrup kind either!!! I'm more of a milk tea girlie but had to respect it. Peach oolong frappe uses the same peach oolong tea but adds milk and fresh cream on top!! I've been using your self ordering kiosk to order for drinks and the whip cream with pecans on the side for my toddler. And every single time, the system failed to print out the ticket for the whip cream and pecan for your staffs. I normally would obtain a receipt from the kiosk to show the staffs because that pecan can whip cream was always missing when they handed me my order. Today your self ordering kiosk did not print out a receipt for me so I couldn't show the staffs what I paid for. Instead of trying to figure out what was wrong, they acted like they were doing me a favor and gave out $2.5 whip cream for free. Please fix this error and save your future customers a headache. They are still in their soft opening phase so they were running a BOGO promotion when I came which was such great timing. Luckily there wasn't a long line to order. We ordered the Matcha Green Tea Frappe ($6.99) less sugar and less ice, and the Osmanthus Lychee Milk Tea ($6.29). They only have one cup size option so the prices are a bit on the pricier end for their drinks. They have a few tables inside for seating and the interior was chic and modern. The drinks were ready in around 5 minutes or so and they add the whipped cream on the frappes right in front of you. The matcha frappe is one of their top sellers so I was looking forward to it but there wasn't any matcha taste and the consistency isn't really a frappe. It tasted like a typical green tea but with whipped cream. The whipped cream was also the normal whipped cream and is on the sweeter side so it made the milk tea sweeter once mixed together even with the sugar level adjusted. It was just alright 4/5 My friends got the Osmanthus Lychee Milk Tea ($6.29) and one of them thought the lychee didn't taste good with the milk tea but the other enjoyed it. My favorite tea spot in London made its way to the SGV! The first tea shop where I had tea with the whip cream and candied pecans as a topping. I got the black tea frappe. Creamy whip cream and love the sweet crunch the pecans add. Strong tea here but when mixed with the cream gives a good balance of tea and creaminess. Good service here once you arrive at the counter for your drink they start adding the foam and pecans to it. They are in soft opening right now and not much people on a Thursday afternoon. I'm so excited to have a new tea spot open up in Rowland Heights! Since they're still pretty newly opened, I hadn't heard much about them before visiting, so I was going into it blind. The shop is located in a plaza with a large parking lot, so finding a spot shouldn't be an issue. The interior of the shop is nice and clean. There are a few small tables and chairs available for those who want to sit, chat with friends, and enjoy their drinks. During my visit, it was pretty busy though, so most of the seating was taken and most people were just standing near the pick up counter. Even though there were about 20 orders ahead of mine, the staff worked quickly and efficiently and I didn't have to wait too long for my drink. I decided to try the Osmanthus Lychee Milk Tea, which is listed as one of their top drinks. It was really delicious! The lychee taste is subtle, not overpowering, and blends nicely with the floral osmanthus. I also liked how they don't make the drinks too sweet when I ordered at 50% sugar. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu, especially the standard Osmanthus Milk Tea and a few of the other drinks from their menu. read more
