Customers primarily order on the self-service kiosk. Staff is quiet and polite. Staff appeared fatigued and going "with the motions," but Staff worked diligently. My drink took two minutes and 34 seconds. Good time. As mentioned I ordered the Banana Pudding Matcha Latte ($7.95). YUM! It's silky, chill matcha! I especially love when the earthy matcha is properly balanced with something sweet. The taste of vanilla and banana is much welcomed. It all tasted very fresh, and it was common hearing the other ordering customers whisper aloud... "This is good." On ambiance, Danzzan (Rowland Heights) is charming. There's cute knickknacks and comfortable seating. However, I recommend a more thorough sweeping once in a while. For example, I had to crush a small bug crawling under my table while I was waiting. The corners feel slight neglected, but the place does feel relatively clean. Danzzan (Rowland Heights) also has good utility. There's about five electrical outlets. While this location is small, it is beautifully decorated, and feels very homey. We got the black sesame hojicha and black sesame matcha, and they came out so prettily! The nuttiness of the hojicha works better with the black sesame cream, which wasn't very thick. The black sesame matcha was more black sesame-y than matcha, but still both were a good sweet treat. The interior of this place is not too big, there are a few spots if you wanted to use a laptop/study but some of the spots have pretty hard seating like metal stools. The way you order is through a kiosk and there was maybe only 1 person working there when I went. All they do is make you drink or get you your snack if you ordered a snack but there is no service. They did have a variety of cookies but they didn't look that appealing so I didn't want to try it. Parking for the place isn't too bad, they have shaded spots that you could park under. I love the vibes, it's a little dark more towards the back, but I think it's still super cute. I also love the wooden finishes, it's a nice place overall. However, the drinks were just okay. This was an interesting place with fun drinks and desserts. Danzzan is a Korean drink/dessert Cafe offering flavorful high quality matcha beverage. The taste palette aligns with the Asian preference where flavors are on the lighter side and less sweet compared to the American counterparts. The interior is cute and pleasant, the parking slightly limited but not terrible. Customer service is friendly and nice. The two pain points for me, which maybe to others are negligible, is the seating and the prices. I'm used to drinks being pricey but I'm starting to feel the fatigue of paying $7+ per cup especially for small drinks. I understand and appreciate the quality of the ingredients used, along with acknowledging CAs high prices for operations in general, but I feel this could be priced better. I enjoyed the snowy persimmon It's very light, refreshing, delicious, and cute but it's also like the size of a boba cup for $10. The life is matcha and matcha danzzan were good as well but I'm not sure if I could justify their price either. Maybe as a once in a blue moon experience but going to my next point, seating. If I'm paying a premium for a drink, usually it's either i really enjoy that beverage, to enjoy the environs, and/or I'm also there to work, study, or get something done. There are some tables/benches that look like i could work on alright but others are ergonomically uncomfortable (maybe by design since the shop is small). When we got here, it was slightly crowded with only the small seat and table available. We came here to try the place out as a hangout rather than a work station and the ergonomics still felt awkward. The short stools were taller than the small table so reaching for your drink felt strange, i felt hunched over, and it felt a little cramped in general. I would say 5 stars if price isn't an issue and if you either are getting it to go, don't care for the seating, or can grab a good seat. 4.5 stars for me in terms of how I like the experience and flavors, but closer to 4 stars when I factor in my preferences and expectations as a customer. I think this place is nice but I don't think this could be a spot I visit often (outside of the drive for me) as it isn't feasible for me, and while I like matcha, it's not high enough on my priority list where I would go out of my way and pay a premium for it. I feel like the Life is Matcha Latte was much less vanilla-forward this time, so I really enjoyed it. BUT not as much as their current seasonal special: Black Sesame Matcha Latte. They perfected the black sesame foam. It's creamy but not too watery, and nutty without it being overpowering. I hope they keep this on the menu permanently. I also tried some of the Little Forest Latte, a hojicha latte topped with hazelnut chocolate cream. This one is also a must if you're a fan of hojicha. There's a shared restroom located in the back of the store. When it came to ordering, there was a kiosk with a photo menu for reference. We got (1) gochujang sea salt cookie, (1) chestnut tiramisu, (1) spicy so tteok bites, and (1) black sesame hojicha latte. There are tabs located on the left side of the menu that make it efficient to browse between sections. American express is accepted as a payment option. Once the order was ready, you'll need to grab it at the front counter. Gochujang Sea Salt Cookie - This was pretty good and lightly salted. It did fool me a bit since it had a hint of spice. Toasted marshmallow was a bit sweet. Chestnut Tiramisu - Tasted as expected and not too sweet! Chestnut added a nice crunchy texture. Spicy So Tteok Bites - Perfect combination of spicy, sweet, and salty. Sausage is a nice addition to the dish. Black Sesame Hojicha Latte - Great profile of flavors here. I decided to finally check out Danzzan on Tuesday since it was pretty hot out and there was the $5 matcha. Parking was a little tricky since the parking lot is small. My friend came closer to opening to grab us a table, so I brought my laptop to get some work done. The decor was nice and understated, a mix of cozy neutrals with a splash of green and the exposed industrial fixtures up top. I ordered the Little Forest Latte, and it's absolutely delicious. Order can be easily placed using the giant kiosk tablet. Although there was no line when I arrived, I had to wait at least 10 minutes or so for my order to be ready. The inside of the cafe has decors, and ample seats to sit down. Voice can echo loud and clearly there. So if someone is chatting loudly about one's life problems, everyone in the cafe can hear it no matter where they choose to sit. Something to keep in mind if you want a quiet space. Bring earbuds if you are sensitive to sounds. The actual drinks and the much hyped gochujang cookie was quite underwhelming. If I hadn't already driven off the car park, I would have wanted a remake or get it exchanged with something else. The strawberry matcha had very little to no flavor of either. All I tasted was iced milk. Visually it looks like it's green enough to at least have SOME semblance of matcha taste to it. Nope. The Little Forest drink was even more underwhelming. I tasted none of the matcha flavor and very little to no chocolate flavor. It was strangely very similar tasing to the strawberry matcha despite its appearance. Tasted like straight up iced milk. The cookie itself tasted stale and salty. Very weird flavoring as one wouldn't expect something like this to have such a salty forward taste to it. The texture was overbaked and greasy. Not something I would want to eat it again. Overall, this is a good cafe to go to for aesthetically pleasing Instagram stories or posts. Maybe an outing with a pal to talk her ears off about all your life's problems. But if you are wanting a quiet space to study, get some work done, or take a moment to relax, this won't be a good place to do so. If you also actually care about the quality of food and drinks, this is a place you can skip altogether. I ordered the Matcha Coconut Cloud through their kiosk. If you're looking for something light and not overly sweet, this is a great choice. The matcha top had a subtle bitterness that balanced nicely with the coconut, and the coconut flakes on top were a nice touch. The space itself is cozy and functional, but there isn't a ton of study space. There's one long table that could fit 4 people and one circular table, along with about 2-3 outlets.
