    Popcorn Milk Tea
    Andrew N.

I was surprised to see all the raving reviews for Torotea, especially for the popcorn milk tea with brown sugar. The tapiochi in the drink was good, but the drink itself tasted just like a nutty milk. There wasn't much of a strong flavor of tea at all. I thought they were supposed to be famous for their tea. The drink was average at best, but definitely not worth the nine dollars. The vibe inside was pretty cool and the service was normal. There is a small free parking lot so you don't have to worry about paying for parking.

I love the jellies at ToroTea. I think it tastes better than boba. The popcorn milk tea is a popular drink here, and I do think the buttery flavor is so interesting. But I think I prefer their teas. I like that the specialty ones include toppings already. Mulberry was a bit too sweet for me even though I got zero sugar. I prefer their roasted barley iced tea with osmanthus jelly. Drinks can be easily close to $10. Service is great! Queues can be long. Parking is easy. Bathroom available. Credit card/tap is accepted with no surcharge. I like to stop by when I'm in the area.

One of my favorite boba spots ever! I love that they do not do traditional boba. I much prefer the jellies and tapaochi! The texture is perfect, if you like jello you'll like this. The drinks are also the perfect amount of sweetness. Normally at boba shops I adjust to 50% sugar, but here 100% is just fine. I do feel the tea quality has gone a bit down since they have expanded. But overall, it is still good. The service is always great & they always have a sample to give you when you enter. My personal favorite is the misty oolong. The first time I came I tried the popcorn milk tea and it was a little over rated. I think great for people that love popcorn flavored things but not my vibe. Their cassia is also good if you're looking for a non-caffeinated version.

YUMMY!!!! The Popcorn Milktea is soo smooth and buttery, I've never had anything like it! And omg the tapiochi!! 10/10!! I shouldn't be drinking dairy because I'm lowkey lactose but it will forever be worth it for a milktea boba LMAO!! :') Went on a Saturday afternoon, even though it was busy, didn't have to wait very long. Definitely a cool little boba spot!

    * a passion project created by a physician * rather than traditional boba, this tea shop handcrafts unique toppings in-house, offering different flavored tapiochi (tapioca + mochi) and jellies (my favorite is the osmanthus jelly!) * each location has store exclusive drinks 10/10

Torotea has really fragrant drinks. I highly recommend the Double Matcha!! It's like Super Matcha on Steriods! The Jellies are made in house!

One of my favorite milk tea spots! Bummed at their recent price hike - one of my favorites the popcorn milk tea is now around $9... I tend to get their fruit teas like the calamansi oolong twist as their milk teas, albeit incredibly fragrant, are not as strong as I'd like after milk is added. The interior is very aesthetic although quite small- I was occasionally able to snag a spot to enjoy the drinks inside with friends. Service is friendly.

Famous for their popcorn milk tea. I got it half sweet so perfect sweetness for me but the milk tea was decent, wouldn't be my favorite but the mochi jelly texture like was very unique and I would go back for that topping. It wasn't chewier than regular jelly but not boba jelly. Good try and good toppings.

Really enjoying the uva milk tea with black tea tapiochi. I get it less sweet and it's perfect. Hoping they add more black teas to the menu in the future! They mostly have oolongs on the menu currently. Definitely on the pricy side, especially since their toppings are an extra dollar on top of the $6-9+ for your drink. I don't think any drink should be close to $10 so that part is a little off putting. Still don't recommend their matcha, especially since they're $8.55-9.85 and taste pretty bad and chalky to me. Would recommend trying out their other tea drinks instead.

I've tried toro tea out a few more times and realized their non-viral drinks are so much more my cup of tea (pun intended). I've had the ember milk tea and cassia milk tea my last two visits while sampling the jellies that could come with each drink. I do appreciate Toro tea for unique, low/no caffeine options. That being said, the price is still crazy high and it really sucks if you get a drink you don't want. If you're new to toro tea, I'd go with a group so you can try each others drinks to know what works best for you.

The chino location seems to be more convenient to me only because they have a larger parking lot. I got the creme brulee drink which is always very good. I also got the matcha duo einspanner which i felt like wasn't as good as the regular matcha einspanner. I'm used to the toro tea in Chino making that one a thick texture so I assumed the duo einspanner would be the same but more matcha but the flavor and texture just wasn't as good. This location is a lot brighter inside compared to chinos which I did like. I also liked that The workers felt more eager to serve you compared to chino.

I used to love coming to torotea from OC, but after today I probably won't visit as often or at all. While the drinks have remained consistent as far as I can tell, there has been a SIGNIFICANT price increase across all drinks on the menu. The lack of a rewards program also makes it less enticing to return, as they used to have one in the very beginning. I am aware that a new location just opened in Santa Ana, but it doesn't have the Yelp waitlist system just fyi, so the line is incredibly long.

My all-time favorite drink spot! I've been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. My go-to is the Osmanthus Citrus Refresher--it's so refreshing and always hits the spot. I've tried a lot of their other drinks too, and they're all delicious. At this point, I'm honestly just a hardcore Torotea fan. If you're visiting for the first time, I definitely recommend giving the Osmanthus Citrus Refresher a try! The shop is clean and inviting, and there's plenty of parking, making it an easy stop whenever you're craving a drink.

What I love most here is the ordering experience. There are multiple large touchscreens where you can fully customize your drink -- sugar level, ice level, add-ons, substitutions, you name it. I almost always go for zero sugar, and the fact that I can do that easily is a huge plus for me. It's the kind of flexibility that modern boba shops should all offer. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, which is refreshing compared to some other spots in the area. Is it the most amazing boba I've ever had? Honestly, no -- but the ability to build your drink exactly the way you want it more than makes up for it. There's also a large display screen showing order status, so you always know when your drink is ready. It's a small touch, but it makes the whole experience feel smooth and stress-free. I'll be real though -- I probably drink more coffee from the Starbucks across the street than boba from here. At the end of the day, coffee feels like the healthier daily habit. But when I'm in the mood for something different, this place is where I'll be.

My wife and I visited during lunch on a weekend and it was no wait whatsoever. Easily placed our orders and it was about a 5-10 minute wait for our drinks, very nice overall. Staff is friendly and quick which is always nice to see for a tea shop. They have plenty of options to go around, usually they'll have a sample for you to try which is nice if you can't decide on your drink choice. I absolutely love the mango or lemon condensed milk series, it's a mix of yakult style drinks on top of a bit more of a gushy feeling when you're sipping. Mix that with a bit of kick and you have the perfect drink for a hot day. Absolutely recommend trying it. Overall, a well maintained shop, although can get really packed during the peak hours, it's absolutely worth checking their store out. Very high quality drinks, consistent across all San Chen locations and definitely my choice of tea shop whenever my wife and I are in the area.

I usually order the taro slushy with light ice and less sugar because I don't like my drinks overly sweet. I've always enjoyed the drink itself, and I also like that their cups feel sturdy and higher quality than the thin plastic cups you get at many other drink shops. The fries were also good. It's a bit pricey $7 for the fries. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a horrible experience. I placed an online order and saw my name on the drinks that were ready at the counter. No staff members were around, so I reached over to grab my order. An employee suddenly appeared and told me that I couldn't just take it. There wasn't a sign telling customers to wait, and at places like Starbucks and other drink shops, completed mobile orders are normally left at the pickup counter for customers to grab. I understand if they have a different policy, but it should be clearly posted and communicated politely. I also requested no seasoning on my crispy tofu because I don't like their seasoning. The manager rudely told me they couldn't do that because it was supposed to come with seasoning. However, I contacted their customer service team afterward, and they confirmed that the tofu could absolutely be customized without seasoning. They even offered to replace it with a complimentary order prepared the way I originally requested. When I returned and explained the email I received, the manager acted very skeptical and almost seemed like she didn't believe me.
