So honestly the tacos are ok and a bit overpriced for what you get... the burrito however, was better... tortillas were soft and the Churros off the da chain! Service good! read more

Finally got a chance to try this place. My buddies I went with, had them previously in Austin, TX and they raved about them. I went with 2 tacos, a Brushfire and a Crossroads. Water to drink, my total was about $12.00. A tad steep for 2 tacos. How were they? Pretty good. Brushfire was Jamaican jerk chicken, pineapple, jalapenos, sour cream and cilantro and a diablo sauce (not sure if it was the jalapenos or the diablo sauce, but one bite I took lit my whole mouth on fire). Taco was good. Chicken was seasoned well, and it had a lot of pineapple in it. The tortillas are kind of weak though...not that pliable and a bit "stiff". Crossroads was beef brisket, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, cheese and avocado. This was ok also. Same thing with the tortilla...a tad "stiff". Beef brisket was nice and tender and they gave you a whole slice of avocado which was nice. My buddy got an order of chips and queso. I actually liked this better than the tacos. A bit skimp on the chips compared to the queso they give you, but the chips were thin and crispy, and the queso was nice and hot with great flavor. I would definitely get this next time I come back. Overall, thought it was ok. A bit pricey for what you get. Not racing to come back anytime soon, but one day I would like to try their breakfast tacos, and the chips and queso was pretty solid. read more

Damn good tacos & queso. The trailer park taco (get it trashy) was the best. The salmon one was good. The queso is GREAT. Also, they brought out my food so fast, it was amazing. Management is doing a good job. read more

I really enjoyed my time at Torchy's. I absolutely love the decor. The whole places vibe is really "torchy"! We went because Hash Kitchen was so packed the wait was 1:30 hours. I was too hungry for that. I googled places that had breakfast tacos and Torchy's came up. I was pleasantly surprised!!! The food was ready much faster than I was expecting it to be. I ordered quite a bit of food. I got a taco with jerk chicken, the democrat, & some other that I can't remember off of the top of my head. The food was so good. Really good. I will definitely be returning when I go back to Phoenix. read more

Visit 11/17/22 Time ordered: 12:45pm Food received: 1:13pm Ordered carry out, to go Order: 5 tacos, chips and guacamole $39.18 total price for all items Walked in Thursday afternoon to order take out because my wife fell in love with this place when we lived in Houston. It's nice to see if they have come to Phoenix. This place is not your traditional taco spot. Do not expect to see items like Carne Asada or Al Pastor on the menu. The words Tex Mex come to mind when eating at Torchy's. Chips & Guacamole: The Chips and Queso is probably the most popular item on the menu. You see just about every table in the joint with an order of their Chips and Queso... that's what I was supposed to order but I accidentally ordered the guacamole lolololol! Either way, guac was fresh, chips are good and salty! I spiced my bites by adding some La Victoria Orange Sauce i just brought back from the Bay Area lol!! SAN JOSE ORANGE SAUCE IYKYK Probably the best thing I had today 4.2 out of 5 star Trailer Park Taco: Take a look at the picture I posted to see what I saw when I unwrapped my taco shortly after receiving my order. I knew what I was getting into, ordering the most wedito item on the menu. Don't get me wrong, it was good... but not the great. This like the McDonald's SnackWrap older brother than went to college and thinks he's better than you and your blue collar buddies. Trailer Park Taco coming in at 2.3 out of 5 stars for me Washingtonian Taco: This was a Taco of the Month menu option so I gave it a go without knowing what was on it before ordering. Turns out it was another super caucasian version of a taco lol. I enjoyed this one more than the trailer park but this one was different lol. Pulled pork, cheese , sour cream, avocado, paired with a bbq sauce as a salsa. Oh there was pickles on it also. It was essentially a pulled pork sandwich on a tortilla. Taco of the month 3 out of 5 stars... pulled pork was flavorful Mr. Orange Taco: This will be written by my wife. "The taco was fine." 3 out of 5 stars she said lol! I didn't even want a bite so I let her sum this one up for ya. Crossroads Taco: Bang Bang! The saving grace taco! This was the best one I had today! The Brisket on this jawn was fire! Paired with a normal style salsa also, this one was the one for me! My next visit, I'll probably just get multiples of this taco. Solid 4 out of 5 stars The Bottom Line: this a great spot to bring folks to that come visit you in AZ and want to eat tacos but would be afraid to head to the barrio and get it in on the authentica!! Or If you lived in TEXAS and want a reminder that real tacos didn't exist out there but Torchys held us down! Either or Torchy's has you covered! Also their breakfast tacos are solid if you the type that want a big ass bacon and egg taco. Torchy's Taco 3.3 Stars out of 5 read more

This review is for the Torchys on Camelback in Phoenix. We have been going to Torchy Tacos to get the plant based Mo Faux tacos. So good! My husband was put on the WFPB lifestyle because of cancer. We went there today and I noticed the menu had changed. They no longer make the Mo Faux Tacos. Their substitution was an avocado and refired bean taco. The problem with refined beans is that a lot of times they add lard or some other animal based product in them. Unfortunately I am allergic to avocados and hubby hates it. I told the lady that we will never come back. They ruined it for us. So disappointed. read more

Despite being about 5 bucks per taco and not even having any Taco Tuesday specials, these tacos might be worth the occasional visit. The trailer one basically had a chicken tender with various toppings while the smoked brisket was the better of the two choices. Each taco had their own different sauce. You might need three tacos to fill you up, but nobody wants to pay $17 for three fast food tacos. read more

Delicious New Find This was the best unexpected local find. Torchys has a great variety of tacos that can fulfill anyones appetite from chicken to shrimp tacos and everything inbetween. My personal favorite is the trailer park & crossroads tacos (get it trashy). The place was crowded but our food was brought out fast. All the entrees at Torchys are made fresh to order and layered with flavor. The shrimp and chicken tacos were moist and had such wonderful flavors, some of the best tacos I've had in a while. If you stop by Torchys make sure to get an order of the chips and queso, absolutely delicious but the Churros were the star of the show and a must try. The staff at Torchys is very accommodating. They will happily substitute flour or corn tortillas, leave off or add ingredients and they even have half orders of sides. Great Food, Service, and prices. Stop by you won't be disappointed. read more

I have eaten here a few times, it never got anything better. The only thing good was, the beer is very cold! I advise if you decide to venture in, sit at the bar. You will get served and not have to stand in line to order. The service at the bar is better but only more or less :/. Prices are reasonable, quality is not great, flavor needs help!!! read more

Stopped in for three tacos. At other locations, this doesn't take long. For me -- not even during a rush -- it took 30 minutes and delivered mediocre, cold food. I think the chain expanded too quickly. Really not worth it for the cost. read more

When life gives you lemons, you must plant the seeds...well, let me plant a seed! We came here opening weekend and held up from rating thinking I would come back. As it pains me to leave such a low rating, I just couldn't find myself in being unhappy again at my own expense. I am being upfront with my experience. Trust me food is very subjective and it can slap to some and not to others. When I pay money to enjoy a meal, taste ranks first and customer service is a close second. My family and I had the following items. The Mofaux tacos, Green Chili Pork tacos, Grande burrito(not pictured), two margaritas and a fountain drink. The line was out the door that weekend. Never heard of the place, something my daughter wanted to try. As we waited we learned it's a Texas chain and has a following. That explains the line. Our overall feeling on the food was very overrated. The service was very subpar. It was opening weekend and know most folks who are permanent staff where probably not coached up well enough. The staff in "authority" should be the folks who step up and handle situations that fresh staff cannot/should not yet. We place our order with an obvious newbie who did not know the menu. We were very descriptive with our preference of corn tortillas versus flour tortillas on the tacos. One by preference and one by allergy. The new order taker did not understand how to make the changes in their system. A "coach" steps in and makes the change in their system and did not use it as a teaching moment. Our food comes to our table and my Grande burrito came out to me in a bowl. I told the person who brought our food out that I ordered a burrito and to just bring me a tortilla. I would just pour the bowl into the tortilla and roll it up myself. The food runner said they would correct my meal in the kitchen. Then a person of "authority" came out and said the bowl was correct because of the allergy. I then explain to this person the the allergy only involved the tacos. This person goes back into the kitchen. A second person of "authority" came over to confirm that the person eating the burrito did not have an allergy to flour. 20 minutes later the burrito comes out to the table. My daughter and wife were pretty much done with their tacos and margaritas. I refilled my cup with either old brew tea or they have some really bad tasting water. I just went out to the car and brought in my own bottled water. Throughout this entire fiasco, not one person apologized for the ordeal or the time it took to correct it. They have a following and know they will always have their loyal base. I am not trying to sway anyone from not coming here. All I can tell you is, it's the most expensive Taco Bell dinner I've had. $80ish to be in the ballpark. read more

My son moved to Austin last year and we were told to try Torchys. It just never happened, so when I heard they were opening in Phoenix I had to laugh. My son still hasn't tried them in Austin, but I got the chance. Bring recently opened I figured they would have hiccups and they did, but no big deal. Service was quick and pleasant and they were staffed up. Tacos were good. I think the brisket was the best. The heat was lacking a bit. Meaning the tacos were a bit cold by the time we got them. Which was strange as it didn't take long to get our food. Wouldn't think they were pre made, but who knows. read more

So I have been to torchys in Texas and I thought I was going to walk into a small place like the one out there. As I walk into the door I realize this place is way much bigger and brighter, the colors, the theme, was really nice and I was impressed. I guess not everyone appreciates it because they are use to the Mexican food out here and not open to try other flavors. We sat at the bar and ordered margaritas, the bartender said he couldn't do doubles in one drink, just one shot and a half, that was the policy there. We thought it was a little weird considering it's a full liquor bar, but the bartender was super nice and attentive so I can't complain. We order the green chili queso, the street corn, the brisket taco, jalapeño sausage and the tipsy chick, they were delicious. This is not your topical small taco. My boyfriend called them "fancy tacos"; they are a little bit bigger than usual, but I loved them. The sauces were great and you if you are a spicy lover like us you might want to ask for their "torchy sauce" it's fireeee. We walked out of there super full and very satisfied so good job torchy you get 5 stars. read more

This is an order at the counter and they bring it to your table kinda place. Get this though.... It has a FULL BAR and they have specialty drinks on top of that. I had the Trailer Park and Green Chili Pork tacos along with Lil Nookies for dessert. It was difficult to eat both tacos because they are so large and glad others were sharing the dessert. Attended Torchys grand opening party. I ordered a blended house margarita for drink and it was delicious and boozy. Chips and queso are a must and I like that the recipe is different and better than some of the other restaurants in Arizona. I also ordered the Trailer Park Tacos and ordered them "trashy" which adds extra toppings and they are so good. I am absolutely addicted to this place. The staff was awesome! Everyone is so nice and helpful. I am extremely excited for this restaurant to come to our community, you will love it. This food was soooo good. So good that we went two weekends in a row. I had the salmon tacos and I couldn't believe how delicious and well seasoned they were. I also ordered the plain queso and chips it was also really good. Hubs had the fried chicken tacos and said they were also good. We both ordered a frozen Sangrita that was very tasty. They were fairly crowded on a first visit but not so much the second time. I would highly recommend this place and try the salmon tacos if you love salmon! read more

As an Arizonan, us foodies can have our own little sense of superiority complex when it comes to Mexican food, and it is never so acute as when you talk about tacos. I know, I'm an Arizonan, and yes, I think I know where all the good taco places are. And I know the good places for a given style of tacos. So ya, I get it. We are picky. But Arizona, it's time to take off your "taco expert" hats and try something. And that something is Torchy's Tacos. Torchy's hails from Austin, TX. They started in 2006, locally, but have since grown to 90 locations across 13 states. But this last week, they opened their first establishment in Arizona on Camelback. And? It. Is. Awesome! I heard about Torchy's from coworkers in Austin who couldn't stop raving about it. So, when I heard one opened here, I had to try it. My first visit was today at around 5pm. There was a line up, but not too long. From that point on, the line only grew longer, till it began wrapping through the building. To get a good sampling of the menu, I tried 5 items. Don't judge :) . First, was their top selling Trailer Park taco. And yes, "get it trashy" is good advice. Wow. Phenomenal flavors, super combination of crispy, crunchy, gooey and spicy but smooth. You *must* try the Trailer Park on your first visit. Second, I ordered the Brushfire, which is a jamaican jerk chicken-filled creation featuring a diablo sauce that has all the bite, but still retains flavor as the main goal. Seriously, this is my fave! Third, I wanted to try thier barbacoa, which goes by the title Democrat (yes, they have a Republican too!). Politics aside, the barbacoa is excellent. Flavorful and juicy without being watery. And the salsa it comes with excellent. Fourth, I had the street corn, which as my good friend said, is the absolute big surprise on the menu. It is stellar! Perfectly cooked, this isn't the elote style exactly, but does feature an amazingly rich cotija cheese cover that knocks it out of the park! Wow! Lastly, I ordered the fresh made churros as well. They were good, but on the whole weren't a standout like the rest of the items. Let me just say this- tacos come in a wide and varied styles and tastes. If you want amazing taste, you will find it at Torchy's. You may need to let go of your AZ bias to give Torchy's a try. But do it. You will thank me later for trying them! read more

Definitely all hyped. Tacos are basic. My one taco was literally a chicken tender with toppings on it. My Other two tacos, parts of the meat was so hard(burnt) it wasn't chewable, the veggies on the taco weren't grilled or anything ( as if they cut the peppers up and just throw it on the taco) The corn and flour tortillas taste like Walmart brand directly out the pack. I thought the tacos were going to be small but they were decent sized. Only one register so the line to order moved very slowly. The green chili queso was good but the chips were very salty. read more

Like many other reviewers have pointed, I too was excited when I first heard Torchy's was coming to Phoenix since I used to live in Texas and loved it. Unfortunately I was very underwhelmed when I recently stopped by for takeout. I ordered 2 tacos and I was told my order would be brought to me so I sat on a table and waited. I got my order in not too long but only to find out it wasn't mine and they had given me someone else's. Luckily I had not drove off so I returned to the restaurant to get my order. This time it took them a while and by the time I got my order it was over 25 mins. I got the democrat which was one of my favorites one and it was not as good as I remembered it. I also got the green chili pork and it was okay. I understand that they are very busy right now however they need to fix their takeout system, they give you a buzzer which they didn't actually use and when I finally got my order I had to go to one of the employees who was just walking around with a bag of tacos and circling the store. Still don't know what the point of the buzzer is if it's not going to be used. I might consider going to eat at the restaurant to see if the service is any better however it definitely fell short of my expectations. read more

The line to order moved quickly and we received our chips and queso within 5 min of sitting down. The queso was delicious and the chips had just enough salt on them. The tipsy chick was unique and tasty. The democrat was not as good as I remember but that's probably because the meat was over cooked and had a too soft consistency. My wife and I met my son and daughter in law for dinner there tonight. By far one of the worst tacos i've had in a long time. We were so disappointed when we got our food. All the meat was cold when it came out, and the birria wasn't made right, it tasted like the seasoning was wrong and the meat didn't even taste like beef. It was severely disappointing since we are tight on funds and it was the one thing we chose to spend our fun money on this month. read more
