Wanted to find a "real" Mexican restaurant and found them on Yelp! They were an 8 minute drive and loved the comments as well as the bacon wrapped poppers! Being diabetic, I let them know and they were very accommodating and eager to cater something for me which turned out to be the Japaño Poppers and Ribs! They were both fantastic. The ribs were tender and delicious and the Poppers were awesome too. My daughter got a chicken quesadilla and she loved that as well. The owner's were so inviting, kind and helpful. This will be a mandatory stop every time I'm in PHX, a must have! Oh, they are a food truck between the 2 buildings for when you go try the out! Tell them the diabetic sent you, you'll thank me! This is literally a hidden gem between two buildings!! We just visited for the first time and tried three amazing dishes: jalapeño poppers, steak tacos, and camarones a la cucaracha (shrimp), and they were absolutely delicious! The jalapeño poppers were perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with creamy, cheesy goodness inside. The heat from the jalapeños was just right--not too overpowering. That's a good thing since I don't do spicy. Paired with a dipping sauce, these poppers were the ideal appetizer to start the meal. Next up, the steak tacos were a standout. The steak was tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection, with just the right amount of char for that authentic, grilled flavor. The tacos were topped with pico and cabbage, all wrapped in soft, warm tortillas. Each bite was a mouthful of rich, savory flavor with the freshness of the toppings balancing it out. Just a little red sauce and you have the best tacos your mouth ever tasted!! Finally, the shrimp was cooked beautifully--juicy, flavorful, and seasoned to perfection! Our favorite taco place, hands down! Delicious, fresh street tacos, burritos, nachos, quesadillas (and even steaks on Wednesdays)! There are vegetarian and gluten free options, too. Fonzy's also caters, too! We've had them cater events for us and all of our guests/friends have come to love them, too. I love that now they are next to the 1227 Taproom and we can sit down to eat Fonzy's while enjoying a delicious craft beer. Phenomenal tacos and service!! I can't believe it took us this long to discover Fonzy's! We hit 1227 taproom for some beer and just wanted a little snack. We tried the potato, carne asada, and fish tacos and we loved every bite of each of them!! My husband loves spice (he eats habeneros straight). Incredible tacos! I tried carne asada and pollo asada! Both were fantastic but honestly the tortillas were the absolute best. They were literally so good that I firmly believe they have exceeded the quality of most places I have been impressed with in the past! The only thing that would make this delicious taco place better is if I could order it for delivery when I'm at work. Lol I'm officially an addict for this place! I go to their food truck close to my house that is connected to the 1227 taproom, so I'm not sure about the main restaurant , but Wednesdays steak night was some of the best steak I've ever had. 30 dollar tomahawk steak, the size of a plate.
