The restaurant itself is pretty small and it was very busy the entire time we were there which says a lot about how popular this place is. They do have a large outdoor patio but it was way too hot to sit outside even with the misters. I ordered the brisket taco and elote, both of which were excellent. The elote was equally satisfying, perfectly cooked and generously seasoned. My husband opted for the birria taco and made quick work of both the taco and its accompanying consommé. Service was warm, attentive, and impressively efficient. We spent around $42 for three tacos, a side, and a drink, which felt reasonable for the quality. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the Mexi-Q Twinkies, but I suppose that's as good an excuse as any to come back!

The food was delicious, fresh, and a huge hit with our guests. So many people commented throughout the evening on how good everything was, and just a few days later, one of my friends was already asking me for their contact information so she could recommend them for another event. That says it all! Alex and Adán provided excellent service. They were professional, friendly, organized, and made everything so easy for us as hosts. It was such a pleasure having them be part of our celebration. Our family just moved from Canada to Arizona in January, so we are still discovering local businesses we can trust, and Tacos Calafia is definitely one we will happily use again and recommend to our friends. This location is large and has a lot of tables inside and outside. There's plenty of room for large parties to congregate together and not bother other customers. There's was also a lot of sunlight pouring into the building which I enjoy. They have a large Arizona-themed wall mural and many other decorations throughout the restaurant. The menu board is both simple and diverse, as you have a choice of proteins (carne asada, pollo, al pastor, cabeza and grilled cactus!) and an assorted way to enjoy them (tacos, burrito, quesadilla, nachos, vampiro, and more). Once you place your order at the counter, they have a nice salsa bar with multiple salsas/sauces, guac, onions, radishes, cilantro, limes and more. There's also a table for all your other dining needs (utensils, napkins, salsa cups, etc). I enjoy places that trust their customers to take what they need and not take advantage of their hospitality. I ordered 3 tacos and grabbed 3 salsas to mix and match. I really enjoyed the Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos, but the Pollo wasn't to my liking (had a rubbery/slimy texture and didn't taste to my expectation). The salsas/hot sauces were fine but I didn't find a favorite. Overall, this was an enjoyable lunch at a fair price and at a nice setting. Thanks Tacos Calafia!

I hate the go against the majority of people, but I have to be honest. This place has lots of great features: ample seating, great location, super quick service, easy to find, cute curb appeal, etc. But I got a bowl and it was just okay. My friend got a burrito and said it was pretty tasty. I will definitely give this place another try next time I'm fixing for a burrito, but overall I would say I was underwhelmed. I was also disappointed it came with corn. I'm not sure if that was something I should have assumed, but I don't eat corn, so it would have been nice if that was somewhere in the description. read more
