Fun, little shack offering elote, burritos, and soft serve. I went with a twist of vanilla and prickly pear soft serve dipped in chocolate! It was a bit messy but delicious. Service was fast. There's no indoor seating but lots of tables outside around.

Sometimes a sweet treat is perfect on a warm day. Eating dinner next door and seeing signs for this small, walk up window completely caught our eyes. I went with a basic swirl soft serve that hit the spot. The consistency was perfect and never melted. Vanilla mixed with Prickly Pear (which tastes like Raspberry) was delightful. There is a large patio behind which was very relaxing. Bench seating, round tables, and rocking chairs were all available. Parking was easy and free right around the corner.

Delicious ice cream! You have to get the twist of prickly pear and vanilla - sooooo creamy and the perfect level of sweetness. They pile on the ice cream for your cones and offer great dip options. Line moved very fast, staff was friendly, and lovely area to hang out afterwards with good shade from the trees.

Easy ordering process and the desserts are delicious! Depending on the time, the line can get long but worth it especially after the new tropical twist sundae they just released! Honestly exceeded my expectations. It is a seasonal so stop by before it's gone!

Downtown Gilbert's favorite grab n go & soft serve spot! You can't miss this kiosk especially with that huge gopher on top. They're known for their burritos - Topo Locos chicken or pork burrito ($11 + $2 for brisket upgrade). Elotes with brisket, and their soft serve. But since I was visiting, all the locals pointed me to the prickly pear soft serve dipped in chocolate and man was that divine. It is refreshingly delicious and only for $5.50. I also tried their watermelon agua fresca. Friendly staff. Great service. Highly recommend this place. There's a huge patio with benches and lawn games in the back to enjoy your treats.

I've driven by it dozens of times but until today I haven't had the pleasure. The lines are always long so I figured it was worth a stop. I chose the soft serve Prickly Pear. Then the young man taking my order suggested the lime dip when I asked which would be best with it. Good call. Nice combo. A nice area behind the shop that's shady and shared with the BBQ joint next door.

I had been wanting to try Tapo after seeing an Instagram video that made the food look absolutely delicious. I finally decided to give it a shot and ordered the brisket elote and the Tapo burrito with pork. Honestly, I'm not sure what the hype is about. The brisket elote was $13 and was basically Frito chips with very little meat. For the price, I expected much more substance. The Tapo burrito was $11 and was mostly beans. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough protein in either the burrito or the brisket elote to justify the cost. I'm pretty disappointed and, unfortunately, won't be back.

Came for the prickly pear ice cream & it did not disappoint! I generally love picking up prickly pear flavored treats, so when I saw they had ice cream I knew I had to stop by. We swung by on a Saturday after grabbing dinner somewhere else, there was a line out front, however it moved quickly. Our party tried the brownie sundae, the prickly pear ice cream with chocolate dip & a prickly pear ice cream with orange dip. Plus, a family member ordered a burrito for later and I grabbed one of the new watermelon aqua frescas they were promoting. The prickly pear ice cream dipped in chocolate reminded me of the chocolate covered cherries that are popular during the holiday season. I thought it was delicious & I was happy with the amount they give you for the price, some ice cream spots over charge & give you the smallest portion. Everyone really enjoyed their ice cream, and it was nice there was seating right next to their stand. The only thing I didn't like was the watermelon drink I had ordered, it didn't taste quite right instead of the sweet watermelon flavor I was expecting it tasted more like the rind had been blended up & added to the drink giving it a bitter taste. I look forward to visiting again for their ice cream!

Stopped at Topo for dessert after a great dinner at Joe's Real BBQ next door. The line was long, but the wait wasn't too bad. The cashier/server moved very quickly and efficiently. Their current special cone is called "Joy to the World" - looks like a dipped cone with crushed peppermint. I went with the Prickly Pear Twist soft serve in a cup. It was so good! Tastes almost like my favorite ice cream growing up, raspberry vanilla swirl, but not tart. The texture was smooth and creamy. Don't be deterred by the long line - it's honestly worth the wait! They also sell elote and burritos if you want something savory. I've had both, and they're pretty good too!

Cute little shack. Great quality and prices! Lots of patio seating around. The burritos are huge and the dipped cones are delicious. The dipped cones are pretty messy so I would recommend extra napkins and maybe a bowl on the side! The workers are always friendly as well.

Topo is a solid switch-up from the typical Mexican food spots around gilbert. Definitely not the best mexican food in the state, but it feels different in a good way. The brisket burrito is really good, especially since you can get it with lean brisket which I liked a lot. the ice cream is also surprisingly great and one of the highlights for me.

Genuinely one of the best burritos I've had in a long time! The loco version makes for some fun flavors inside- I definitely recommend! I really want to come back and try their elote and ice cream. The line for Topo is frequently long, so be prepared to wait but know that the wait is worth it! Also, the seating is frequently packed with it being right next to Joe's, but I've always been able to find a seat. I love this place!

I took a bite out of a burrito from here and first I identified the amazing pulled pork, then I noticed there was something special in the burrito, an added flavor and texture. IT WAS FRITOS!!!! Fritos are the last thing to be eaten in a frito-lays variety pack and nobody typically wants them, so how do they work so well in this burrito???? No idea, but I've found a new appreciation for Fritos after eating here. Once you're done with your burrito, get a prickly pear vanilla twist cone dipped in chocolate. read more

My wife and I have already made a couple visits to Topo and it's only been open a couple weeks! The menu is deliberately small as it's solely a walk-up establishment. We both got the Loco Topo burrito which was excellent. We have also tried the prickly pear soft served dipped in lime topping which was SO good on a hot day. The soft serve was a little pricey and the lines can be a little long (perhaps intentionally?) but those would be my only complaints. Can't wait to come back with some other family and friends! read more

When I first saw this go up I was somewhat horrified. Having recently visited a theme park, this looked like something gimmicky that belonged on a boardwalk, NOT in Gilbert's Heritage District. Reports of great food came in, though, and I decided to try it. Ummm....NO! Joe's smoked meat is fabulous---in Joe's BBQ. It doesn't belong in a burrito. The Elote was overspiced--still quite tasty, but it was served in a condiment container. The only thing I can really give them credit for is the tortilla. The 2 stars are for the tortilla! If they sold them by the bag, I would wait in that ridiculous line. In the meantime, could we please move this building to Castles and Coasters or Sunsplash? read more

We had to stop there with the family for some soft serve. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they have old school dip cones. They had a steadily line down the street but the wait was minimal. My family loved the soft serve. The portions were a good size. Can't wait to try it myself soon read more

Everything is so good at this place! Shared a burrito, elote and finished off with prickly pear soft serve with a lime dip, can't really decide which was my favorite. They have a cute patio area they share with joes bbq. Be advised there's no inside seating for this place. During the summer, might be best to go when it cools down read more

Not sure why people find this place amazing. It's just mediocre food at a food stand type of set up that actually takes a while to get your order. I hate how close to the street it is, too, especially when my little one is with me. I'll only go there for the soft serve and only when the line is short. read more

Anyone giving this 3 stars or less is just being pretentious. The minimalist menu is refreshing. The smokiness of the meat, along with the Fritos and elote, is a nice twist. You can sit in the covered seating outside Joes if it's hot out. Staff is nice. I've thoroughly enjoyed every visit. read more

It's good but after finding out it is a "no cash" business I will no longer support or go. Cash is the currency of this country, for a business to not accept is ridiculous. The receipt says Joes BBQ and I'm pretty sure they accept cash. No business should deny service to a person that wishes to pay in cash. read more

I was not really a fan of this food. The place is so cute, and the ice cream was good. But the burrito was way too rich for me. I think that it just comes down to preference. I tried the loco burrito and I felt really full and gross after. I also tasted my husbands topo burrito (both chicken) and I felt the same about his. The tortilla was delicious though. Had a topo loco burrito and a prickly pear ice cream. Both were delicious and the burrito was definitely original tasting. The crispiness of the chips matched with the soft pulled pork and the sweet elote made for quite the mix of flavors. The ice cream was sweet and welcomed with the 100 degree weather. Life changing! All major restaurants that want to expand should have a "Topo" type of addition. Simple and enjoyable in every way, including the area behind it with seats and a play area. Kids or not - you have to experience Topo like a kid would. Long line is to be expected but the experience diminished the line for me. We will return often! read more

Absolutely love this place, Joe had the right idea with this simple and amazing stand. Have to get the topo loco with pork, the pork is smoked like the meat from Joe's BBQ, the fritos give it the perfect crunch! They have fast speedy service! The corn and the soft serve was good! I got the prickly pear twist w prickly pear dip. It was a little tart but with the dip and twist of vanilla it complimented the tartness really well. The burrito I got was okay. I'd definitely go back for the ice cream and corn though! Where do I even start? This place is absolutely incredible from the concept to the food. I love that you can grab a quick affordable bite to eat in Gilbert. The menu is simple but the food is anything from basic. The burritos are truly top notch! Guy Fieri where you at!?!? The ingredients are very thought out and the flavors are so good. I wish I could get a 5 gallon bucket of elote and take it home with me. If I was on a deserted island and I got to choose one food item it would be a chicken Topo loco. Hands down! (With tons of pepto). Seriously best place in downtown Gilbert. Don't walk...run there and then get back in line while you eat your first burrito. No shame in getting two read more

We were really excited to try Topo today. I got the Elote and the Topo pork burrito. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. The tortilla was delicious but the burrito itself was so greasy that it fell apart. It had no flavor other than grease and the cheese wasn't even melted because the ingredients were not hot. These burritos are my favorite around. I really love the simple menu that nails every item they offer. I also love that they offer a unique take on the burrito you won't find anywhere else. I think the meat is from the sister BBQ spot next door. But everything in the burrito works super well. The Fritos add a perfect bit of crunch and the elotes in the premo burro are awesome. The biggest disappointment here was the customer service. My friend ordered a milkshake for her two toddlers to share and politely asked if the extra half could be poured into a second cup. The employee had to ask the manager, who immediately said no. My friend explained that other Handel's locations have happily done this before, and even offered to pay for the extra cup. The manager still refused and told her she'd have to purchase two separate milkshakes instead. The request wasn't for extra product--just a second cup for two small children to share. What made the experience worse was the manager's attitude. She came across as rude and dismissive rather than trying to help find a reasonable solution. We understand that every location has its own policies, but customer service goes a long way. Unfortunately, between the cramped space and the poor experience with the manager, we won't be returning to this location.

I got lunch there once or twice; pretty good sandwiches, but the real highlight is the ice cream. My most recent visit was in Jan. 2022 with my dad. We decided to pop in for ice cream. I hate the go against the majority of people, but I have to be honest. This place has lots of great features: ample seating, great location, super quick service, easy to find, cute curb appeal, etc. But I got a bowl and it was just okay. My friend got a burrito and said it was pretty tasty. I will definitely give this place another try next time I'm fixing for a burrito, but overall I would say I was underwhelmed. I was also disappointed it came with corn. I'm not sure if that was something I should have assumed, but I don't eat corn, so it would have been nice if that was somewhere in the description. read more
