I took a bite out of a burrito from here and first I identified the amazing pulled pork, then I noticed there was something special in the burrito, an added flavor and texture. IT WAS FRITOS!!!! Fritos are the last thing to be eaten in a frito-lays variety pack and nobody typically wants them, so how do they work so well in this burrito???? My wife and I have already made a couple visits to Topo and it's only been open a couple weeks! The menu is deliberately small as it's solely a walk-up establishment. We both got the Loco Topo burrito which was excellent. We have also tried the prickly pear soft served dipped in lime topping which was SO good on a hot day. The soft serve was a little pricey and the lines can be a little long (perhaps intentionally?) but those would be my only complaints. When I first saw this go up I was somewhat horrified. Having recently visited a theme park, this looked like something gimmicky that belonged on a boardwalk, NOT in Gilbert's Heritage District. Reports of great food came in, though, and I decided to try it. Ummm....NO! Joe's smoked meat is fabulous---in Joe's BBQ. It doesn't belong in a burrito. The Elote was overspiced--still quite tasty, but it was served in a condiment container. The only thing I can really give them credit for is the tortilla. The 2 stars are for the tortilla! If they sold them by the bag, I would wait in that ridiculous line. In the meantime, could we please move this building to Castles and Coasters or Sunsplash? read more

We had to stop there with the family for some soft serve. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they have old school dip cones. They had a steadily line down the street but the wait was minimal. Everything is so good at this place! Shared a burrito, elote and finished off with prickly pear soft serve with a lime dip, can't really decide which was my favorite. Anyone giving this 3 stars or less is just being pretentious. The minimalist menu is refreshing. The smokiness of the meat, along with the Fritos and elote, is a nice twist. You can sit in the covered seating outside Joes if it's hot out. Staff is nice. I've thoroughly enjoyed every visit. read more

It's good but after finding out it is a "no cash" business I will no longer support or go. Cash is the currency of this country, for a business to not accept is ridiculous. The receipt says Joes BBQ and I'm pretty sure they accept cash. No business should deny service to a person that wishes to pay in cash. read more

Had a topo loco burrito and a prickly pear ice cream. Both were delicious and the burrito was definitely original tasting. The crispiness of the chips matched with the soft pulled pork and the sweet elote made for quite the mix of flavors. The ice cream was sweet and welcomed with the 100 degree weather. I was not really a fan of this food. The place is so cute, and the ice cream was good. But the burrito was way too rich for me. I think that it just comes down to preference. I tried the loco burrito and I felt really full and gross after. I also tasted my husbands topo burrito (both chicken) and I felt the same about his. The tortilla was delicious though. Life changing! All major restaurants that want to expand should have a "Topo" type of addition. Simple and enjoyable in every way, including the area behind it with seats and a play area. Kids or not - you have to experience Topo like a kid would. Long line is to be expected but the experience diminished the line for me. We will return often! read more

Absolutely love this place, Joe had the right idea with this simple and amazing stand. Have to get the topo loco with pork, the pork is smoked like the meat from Joe's BBQ, the fritos give it the perfect crunch! Can't rave enough about the prickly pear soft serve that I love dipped in lime!! Its fast and easy to just pick something up and either hangout or take home. read more

Where do I even start? This place is absolutely incredible from the concept to the food. I love that you can grab a quick affordable bite to eat in Gilbert. We were really excited to try Topo today. I got the Elote and the Topo pork burrito. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. The tortilla was delicious but the burrito itself was so greasy that it fell apart. It had no flavor other than grease and the cheese wasn't even melted because the ingredients were not hot. These burritos are my favorite around. I really love the simple menu that nails every item they offer. I also love that they offer a unique take on the burrito you won't find anywhere else. I think the meat is from the sister BBQ spot next door. But everything in the burrito works super well. The Fritos add a perfect bit of crunch and the elotes in the premo burro are awesome. I am giving this place a 1 star because of the customer service we received lastnight when eating here. Lastnight (11/2) my friends and I went to grab some burritos, this was the first time eating here for all of us. We ordered burritos, sat at the little tables and ate. The burritos were a little spicy, so we went to ask for some water. My friend went up and asked for a cup of water and the employees laughed, and said "no, sorry we don't have water." She was confused and walked away.. as she came back to the table, they had then turned off all of their lights inside. My guess is that it was closing time and they didn't want to go out of their way to give us a some water. Although, at the time my friend asked for the water.. it was still open. As paying customers.. we couldn't believe this happened. We were forced to go into a nearby restaurant and grab some water. I am very surprised that this establishment doesn't carry water? Odd. None of us will be returning. read more
