I was craving a coney dog, and thanks to Yelp I ended up here at Tony's mostly because I saw the prices compared to the other coneys in town and no way I am paying $8 for a damn hotdog somewhere else. LOL. You pull up to an older house that's been converted into the restaurant, and it could use some maintenance :) but these are the kinds of places I love to find. Small dining area, maybe 6 tables seating 2-4 people each. It was warm today (Saturday around 1pm) and it was pretty busy both for dine-in/to-go and drive through. Unlike alot of other reviews everyone was incredibly friendly and service was reasonably quick. My onion rings and my son's tenders were HOT so they were fresh. Onion rings were pretty well done, but I like them that way. Others may disagree. I had a coney w/ mustard, chili, onion and it looked pretty unassuming. However, it was a little flavor bomb. I found the chili to be flavorful, and they use the tiny diced onions that were perfect for a coney. I went back for a second one with cheese. They were a little stingy with the coney toppings, but at least is was easy to eat. Maybe a little more cheese would be nice. Like someone said, the chili needs to be hotter, it was luke warm. PB and banana shake was awesome, with real chunks of banana in it. It was a hit with my picky 10yr olds and the price was definitly right for a tasty filling lunch. I love this little local ice cream and sandwich shop. I ordered a cheeseburger and my all time favorite ice cream Cappuccino Crunch! They serve Hershey's hard ice cream. They also have soft ice cream. Order at the counter or at the outside window. They also have a drive thru window but the wait is sometimes long. There is one TV playing in the dining room so it is pretty quiet. My husband ordered a few coneys and the same ice cream. Prices are very reasonable. I will be back! read more

First time at Tony's, I've passed this place a few times and have waiting to try it. It was so convient that they had a drive thru, however the food was sub par. The sauce was not super hot and didn't have much flavor. The fried pickles was good, I usually like mine in chips rather spears. We love coming here for lunch and a treat. It is affordable with plenty to choose from (hamburger, hot dogs, pork tenderloin, french fries, onion rings, fried mushrooms, and so much more). Happy to try Tony's Coneys in West Columbus, I got 2 coneys, little extra for fries to substitute chips, got me a special Peppermint Oreo milkshake, and Diet Dr. Pepper. Delicious coneys milkshake sauce, mustard and onions; but will get cheese on it next time. Crispy fries, but next time onion rings. I enjoyed the Peppermint Oreo milkshake, but will get a chocolate or/and Oreo milkshake. Tony's Coneys is a West side institution since the 1950's. Always wondered about this place so I decided to go out on limb and give them a try because there's always a line of cars wrapped around the building. When I pull up I discover that the line of cars is not because their food is mind blowing or word of mouth but because they don't have a modern drive thru system. They have a all seasons menu board or sign and then you order from your car to a person who takes your order, you pay, then you drive to the next window and pick up your food. You might as well walk in and order yourself because it's the same difference. Not too much digital, kiosk, or speaker systems going on here as the place screams serious MAGA vibes. Nevertheless the guy taking my order was extremely friendly, courteous, and professional. Now to the food. These chili dogs could be made at home with items picked up from ALDIs or Krogers which is not a bad thing but it's like for me if I'm eating out I'd like to taste something unique and not run of the mill. For example, yes you can get Skyline Chili Dog sauce from Krogers but if you order chili dogs from one of their restaurants it's something unique in how it's prepared and executed that just can't quite emulate at home. This point brings me back to this place where you can clearly pull of their dogs, and probably make them better and cheaper if you put in the effort by going to the grocery store and doing them yourself. I prefer an all beef hotdog like a Hebrew National and the hot dogs were definitely your standard fare with the filler/pork/chicken mix etc I guess to keep the cost down. The bun on the one with the works with the Krogers tasting coleslaw on top was extremely soggy. They've got other stuff like malts, fries, onion rings etc but I assumed they'd taste like Krogers or Gordon Food Services items and didn't feel like trying because my expectations were not high. I could be wrong. 4 Stars because even from outwardly appearance of the place it evokes a sense of nostalgia for the surrounding community and looks to have been a staple here for generations which is why I guess people from the surrounding community regularly patronize this place. A few years back they opened up a Franks a little further down on West Broad and nobody gave a damn and it closed down pretty quick. Although Franks is a FAR SUPERIOR and way better tasting hot dog joint, unfortunately it didn't register with the west side of Columbus area community. I have been on this side of town a little more often due to a school rotation and drive by this place multiple times. Everyone in the office gave it a thumbs up so I decided do try. 1. Prices seem ridiculously low so I was not expecting the amount of food I got. 2. Someone else has mentioned not to expect anything but soft serve so I was extremely delighted to see hand dipped ice cream when I walked in. 3. The appetizers were much more filling than I expected. Hot dogs/Coney: About what you expect. It's a normal sized hot dog with plenty of cheese but I was missing a bit of chili for it to be a decent chili dog. Appetizers: Got the sampler and for $3.50 was expecting small onion rings, and less than quarter sized poppers and mushrooms. Much to my delight it contained full sized mushrooms, large, thick onion rings, zucchini fries were crispy outside and soft inside and poppers were a decent size. The basket of them was overflowing and well worth the price. Tony's Sub: - ended up giving this away so I didn't get to try it but I'll be back and update this section when I do. Shake: I got a chocolate, peanut butter and banana milkshake and I LOVED it. Hand dipped ice cream and fresh (non-green) bananas. I could taste all three flavors equally and the small was 16oz. Love the concept of this place. Cheap food, made relatively fast (they can get busy at times so there can be a wait). I've tried their coneys and they're the typical coney (a small hot dog and choice of toppings). The prices are up to par for the casual type of place it is and they have a lot of menu options. We come here a lot for this ice cream. The kids soft serve cones are $1 each and are a nice size. They have vanilla, chocolate, or twist. I've tried it once with the chocolate dip shell and it was delicious. I will NEVER again in life come to this place. We ordered our food and it took almost an hour for us to get our order. Not only did we wait, patiently (on the ouside) I might add, but we done so as we saw customer after customer order and have their food given to them and leave. We even waited so long a whole family came in, ordered, ate and left before we got our less than $20 worth of food (receipt attached). My wait allowed me to witness the staff attitude towards customers while they were there, but the nasty stuff said when some left. They did not seem excited to work there or have a job period for that matter. To add to the disappointment, we got home to food that was not tasty and a sandwich so soggy it had to be thrown out. The family room or maybe the all season room with a fireplace is where you eat. Take a look at the paper menu at the counter, place your order/pay then go have a seat. YIKES This place is one block away from my mom's house. I can't really say I'd heard anything good about it. The best recommendations I got were "it's been around forever!", "small business!", and "cheap eats". Not exactly promising when the few times my brother ate here he ended up with some unpleasant digestion issues. I forgot to post about it when it happened but after a 25 minute drive back home and a good dinner, the experience got filed away in that "typical racist shit in Lincoln Village that I can't deal with" box I keep suppressed somewhere in the deep corners of my memory. But my youngest brother just informed of some nonsense he witnessed go down there so it inspired me to write about what happened when I went. I also wanted to confirm that the racist yelling guy was actually the owner, and after being shown a picture I can confidently say yes it was the same man. It had been a long time since we'd been to Tony's Coneys. We used to live pretty close to it and visited more often, but since we moved, we haven't been back. So we were over on that side of town one Saturday and decided it was time to revisit. My husband and I got a 5 coneys with cheese deal for $7.50. The sides are a la carte, and we ordered fries and mac n cheese bites. The cashier asked if we wanted sour cream with those, and we both thought it sounded odd, but we both really liked it. The fries are seasoned nicely and don't require any assistance from ketchup. I'm not a fan of ketchup, so this is the kind of fries I dig. The coneys were great! I ate 2 of the 5, leaving 3 for my husband, which was a perfect amount of food for us. Every time we go, we think we should try the ice cream, but then we forget to leave room for it. Again this happened, so I have yet to try the ice cream, but the flavors sound enticing, and one day we will go in there just for that! Arrived at Tony's at about 8:35pm (they close at 9). The drive through lady, Susie, seemed upset that we arrived 25 minutes before closing. To be fair, I'm only off on tuesdays and Wednesday's so this was the only time I had to get shakes for my family. We ordered 1 small hot fudge shake, 1 small cookies and cream shake and 1 large cookies and cream shake. We got our shakes and only the hot fudge shake was correct. The other two were cookie dough shakes, no biggie right I can go explain and they'll fix it. Wrong. My wife took them inside and dealt with Susie repeating over and over about how we got it wrong and it's all our fault. Another female remade the shakes but this time they came out like water. Crappy customer service by Susie. That was an embarrassment on how to treat your loyal customers. We have been coming here for years and no we'll never return. Tony's is my office work lunch staple! My kids also love their mini corn dogs and milkshakes. I cannot say I've ever had a bad meal from Tony's. From their known coney dogs to the Tony's sub (aka Italian sub). Their milkshakes are a must any time you go. No matter how cold it is outside! The pricing is cheap for the food you get. Only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because it sometimes can take awhile ordering food is there is a line in front of you. When they take an order, they fix your food and get it to you before taking the next order. However, there is space to wait inside or outside.
