It was to the point where I couldn't read the menu because he just wouldn't stop talking. If you are one of those people (like me) where reading the menu is a sacred and difficult decision making time, read it before you go! I ordered a Coney Dog with a side of German potato salad and my husband got a box that had a Coney Pup, Mac N Cheese, and Cole Slaw. The owner told us that the Coney sauce was a homemade recipe so I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, I didn't find it to be impressive. My first experience with Bowzers was as a delivery. The driver spent five minutes telling me about the gregarious owner and his big dreams. The most memorable visit to the Brice Igloo was when I went for the Bison dog. This thing was impressive and still is one of my most commented on Facebook photos. I heard about Bowzers through Groupon and decided to try something new. My fiancé and I live in Dublin and we were going to be in the area today for shopping, so we decided to stop by for lunch. The owner is a delightful man who is very helpful and enjoys talking with the customers. I ordered the Super Reubey Jr. combo, basically a Reuben sandwich style hotdog (it was excellent), and my fiancé decided on a cheese coney and a junkyard dog. Staying outside Columbus for the night and we needed something quick. My husband found this place and what's another hotdog on this trip :) We looked over the menu and picked out what we wanted. We got 2 plain dogs for the kids. I got the Mutt Hot Dog and my husband got the Phuphu Dog. We also got a medium side of mac&cheese. Both were delish. The phuphu is definitely hot, but the combination was impressive. The mutt dog was great. I loved having some cool condiments on a warmer dog. I ended up not eating most of the bun, but only because I needed a fork and knife to eat the mutt. The online ordering was easy and made pick up even quicker. My husband picked up the order while I waited at the hotel. The owner shared the story of the stand with my husband. It was a good story and nice to meet a small business owner. The food is fantastic don't get me wrong. However, someone else also said, the owner talks way too much. Some people don't need to hear every detail about your day or what your plans are, or your bowling league. Also, you post too much information on Facebook, asking for handouts and such. You were closed because you went on a vacation that was paid for but you couldn't update anyone? You bid on a soda machine and won but didn't have the money for it? Don't bid on something you can afford, and maybe if you were open when you should, you could afford it. Another issue is the amount of time he is closed! We love the hotdogs but we have decided to go to other places because at least 10 times in the past year we've wanted it, checked their Facebook to see if he announced a closer and didn't see anything on there, but they were closed. Just got Bowzers for the first time and I will definitely be back! So many times I've driven past the little igloo and it's been vacant... so glad it's occupied now! I ordered the coney and phuphu dogs! Both were rather tasty! These aren't your ordinary hotdogs... they're 1/4 pounders! The coney sauce was sweet, the cheese was piled high, and the bun was perfect for the toppings. The phuphu was truly unique! Loved the mac n cheese! We've driven past this place several times, but never stopped. We made it a point to go there today and I have to say that we're very impressed with their hotdog choices. I chose to get the Fat Cat and boy I double dog dare ya. We waited more time than expected, but it was worth the wait. Wifey chose to get the Coney which isn't pictured, but it was awesome as well. Though it did take me awhile to give this place a second chance, i'm glad that i did. I have a ordered food from this place a handful of times since, and every time it has been spot on. I get the Doxy, which sauerkraut, and brown mustard, simple and delicious. I do also enjoy their mac n cheese. The coneys are also very decent. I've had their coney dog maybe 5 times now. The chili has a sweetness to it that's subtle, but delicious! I think it's a great little hotdog spot to quickly stop in as a you drive by or wait out the traffic. Give them a shot! Watched this vacant igloo for a decade until I finally saw someone fixing it up. Stopped to chat and got an enthusiastic earful about the plans. A month later, Bowzers was open and I had to give it a shot. I have been stopping by for a dog periodically for the last 8 months or so. The coney is delicious. The phuphu is more delicious, and the ghost pepper cheese is awesome (NOT unbearably hot, don't be scared of the name). The Hangover? Dude shoves a Slim Jim THROUGH THE LENGTH OF THE DOG. It sounds horrifying, but it's so good. Also, I dunno who didn't like the mac & cheese, but they are not well-versed in mac & cheese. It is awesome. Also also, if he ever makes a mistake, he will immediately make another dog correctly and let you keep the first one free of charge. Great customer service (though I'm a fat guy, and that extra phuphu barely fit in me! BIG DOGS). I dropped one star because while the owner is a very nice guy, and I love that he shares the (non-financial) details of his business, sometimes his chattiness means I have to wait like five minutes to get one hot dog, and I'm HUNGRY! I've passed this unassuming roadside igloo for a few years, but until I noticed the business pop up on Uber Eats, I would have never noticed it was open. First off, the service is great, the owner/operator is just a down home friendly guy that's trying hard to be the best hot dog stand in Columbus. And let me tell you, it is. One of these days I'll step up to the massive Reuby, but until then, there's a lot of choices on the menu to go through. Decided to swing by here for lunch after shopping at Lowe's. We're it not for the paint job on the igloo, you'd probably wouldn't notice it. Surprisingly there were a couple people waiting and a person placing his order when I arrived. I debated between the Coney and the pizza dog. Went with the Coney. The guy in front of me had a large order. Why am I mentioning this? Because he got his order before a guy that was sitting there waiting for his order when I arrived. He (the guy waiting) was not very pleased. When he got his food, he made it clear that his order took 23 minutes and that he wouldn't be coming back again. I don't know how long my order took. Did not feel that long, but it did feel like it took longer than one would expect for a hot dog. I have waited much longer for food trucks, so I won't give them too much grief. As for the dog, it was a nice big meaty hot dog with good flavor. The Coney sauce was pretty good too. I don't do Coneys very often, so I can't say how it compares to others, but I liked it. My only suggestion (besides making sure they finish the orders in the order they arrive to prevent 23 minute guy situations) is to put their menu on a sign instead of having people come up and grab a menu before ordering at the window. Came here because I read somewhere a few others recommending this place. Ordered a few different dogs for us to try out. So here is my take in a nutshell then I will explain: a good quality hot dog and lots of toppings does not necessarily mean you are getting an excellent sandwich or more importantly a restaurant quality hot dog sandwich. Explanation: After 10 minutes of reading nearly all of the menu choices, I was told they didn't have any dogs ready and it would take about 8 minutes. On this particular day I didn't mind. Had ordered a basic coney, a junkyard dog along with one other. The prices were on average $5-7 each. As the owner explained, they do have some weekly specials. Got the dogs and 2 minutes later we are trying each one to learn that the dogs weren't hot. None of them were hot. Not even close, in fact we couldn't even tell they had been warmed at all. The quality of the dog itself was good. The dogs are served on hoagie buns. Ours were not fresh and immediately came apart at the bottom making it difficult to control the toppings. The coney was served on the same large hoagie bun but with hardly any topping. I suppose their homemade coney sauce was fine. I didn't dislike it, it just appeared that it was almost all liquid and was absorbed into the bun, so there wasn't much to taste. Basically it was a dog on a huge bun with a splash of red sauce and a bit of cheese...mostly bun. The other 2 were ok but nothing to bring me back. Final takeaway: No I won't go back, but I wish them luck and hope they learn from these reviews to make a go of this place. I am there to get good food. In the time I stood there looking at the menu, while the owner talked with me, my dogs could have been cooked. The menu is too large. Choices are good, but I would rather choose from 5 that are excellent quality with fresh buns and ingredients cooked correctly every time than 20 that are just - not. Any inexperienced person could make these at home, just pick up a package of good quality dogs. Other than the dog itself, there was nothing restaurant quality or even fast food quality IMO including the pre-shredded cheese that didn't show the slightest melt, but of course why would it melt when my dog was never hot to begin with. 3 stars for effort and big dreams of bringing us lots of choices, but I highly recommend perfecting the cooking/serving and quality process. This place and location are very quirky. With that being said, the owner was very kind, obviously enthusiastic about his product, and development of the igloo in which his business is located. I snagged two plain hot dogs (for the gremlins), and they loved them. My partner loved hers, too. I got the hot dog with coney sauce, and while it is sweet, it's delicious. The bill was a total of $16.00, but we also got a couple of drinks, too. They're comparable to other hot dog places within Columbus, but honestly, Bowzer's food is fresher, hotter, and has a better taste. I do wish them well and I want them to succeed. The proprietor here makes this hot dog stand a 'must-do' if you find yourself on the far east side. For one, his instinct is to always satisfy the customer. I'll give you an example: I ordered a PhuPhu dog. He said he thinks he is out of the tortilla shells needed and went and checked the cooler. Yep, he was out. He told me he knew he was going to have an issue today as he had just two shells when he opened and he had already sold two PhuPhus. Yep, he KNEW he was out before he went to check. The only reason he went to check was because instinctively he knew that action would satisfy me (as my first question would have been if he had some shells in storage). He anticipated what I wanted. And THAT is something you rarely see in customer service. Rare and very valuable. Second, he's super friendly. Within moments of serving me my order, his great conversation skills made me feel comfortable and like he really did appreciate talking to me. We talked about gator dogs, cajun cooking, and food colored relish- things I thought I had no interest in but found myself easily talking about with him. Bowzers is a place where you could spend an entire Sunday afternoon just whiling the day away, chewing the fat. And to me, that is gold. I am always looking for a new hot dog place and Bowzers came highly recommended to me from a co-worker. My girlfriend and I decided to make the trip over to Brice Rd. from Hilliard a few weeks ago and I'm glad we did. This little igloo is so small that we actually drove past it at first. Once we found the place it was all good from there. The owner Shawn is a very nice and approachable fella. He talked about how they got started and his coney recipe which we found interesting. He was more than willing to answer all of our questions and even brought the food out to our car, which he didn't have to do. The food itself is very filling and tasty. Shawn really pays attention to quality in his products and although I don't agree with all the different offerings of dogs, the Rueby is the most unique and flavorful option around. Tried the Rocket Dog and the PhuPhu. The Rocket Dog definitely brings the heat and I like hot stuff. I felt that one for a bit. I didn't care for the relish (black beans, corn, sweet relish) but only because I don't care for sweet relish, not because it wasn't good. However, aside from wanting to try other dogs on the menu, I will definitely return for the PhuPhu. Oh em gee.....That thing was so delicious. I don't care for ketchup on much other than french fries but the sriracha ketchup on this just topped off an already great hot dog. The mac n cheese was really good and I'm a Mac n cheese snob.
