Challah has a window at Woodlands Tavern, so that's what I'm reviewing, but it sounds like it's the…read moresame stuff as on the truck. Lots of sandwiches on the menu, but I wanted bar food, to go, so I got some pastrami wings to start. Good wings, not great- pastrami spices, fairly meaty, not bad. I also got fried brussels sprouts. Yowza! Small sprouts, fried in, I believe, brown sugar and prosecco. So, a little sweet, a little sour, very good. Finally, some schmaltz potatoes. I wasn't sure if they'd be mashed or what; they were essentially potato wedges, but the best potato wedges I have ever had. Soft inside, a bit crispy outside, great fatty flavor with a little salt. Man, they were good. I'd go back here, or the truck, to explore the menu. They know what they're doing.

We have been waiting to play at this venue for awhile. Come here all the time for shows and wanted to get our foot in the door, to be able to play this venue again. I guess I should start out with some general info. Challah is actually located inside Woodlands Tavern. I will definitely be back to Woodlands if not for the food it will be for the beer and their happy hour prices. But the food was incredible. It was hard to believe that it came from a bar. We shared our food of course. We got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Greg's Pastrami Wings which are brined, dry rubbed & smoked. Both were insanely great and are worth coming back for again and again. Which of course we will do. It also helps that this location is just around the corner from my job. I could actually walk to it from my work building, but I usually don't. I would be interested in knowing if there is still a food truck that goes around. I am only aware of the location at Woodlands. Please update your website with updated info on this for your customers & to get new ones. Some people do not visit bar or establishments that serve alcohol, yes believe it or not. So it would good to be able to provide locations to friends and family members.

Pretty standard menu, but it all looks good. And it all was good. I got a birria eggroll, some esquites, and a pastor torta. The torta was absolutely excellent. Great bread, great meat, fresh veggies. A combination of flavors and textures that was just right. I wasn't even super hungry and polished off the whole thing, and it was pretty big. The equitos were very good. You can also get elotes. The birria eggroll was also very good. A very good eggroll, and very good birria, and a cup of consommé on the side. To me the two don't really go together well, but it's a fad now. There has to be birria in everything. The wrapper was great and fried up perfectly, the meat was tender and tasty. It does work, don't get me wrong, but it's really pushing the eggroll boundaries for me. I also got a horchata. Cold and sweet and huge. Service was friendly and quick. Prices are good. I will definitely be back. Notes: oddly, even though it has Machete in the name, those are not on the menu. I didn't ask, but I'm sure they can make them. And the credit card machine and their social media point to a restaurant with a different name, Los Catrines Antojitos Mexicanos. So I don't know if this is connected to the Machete in Obetz, or is it its own thing and they've just changed the name of the restaurant, or what.

The taco birria and esquites were AMAZING! I savored every bite, both were perfectly prepared. Friendly and quick service as well. If half stars were an option, I'd probably give Dog People 3.5 stars. But, I had a positive overall…read moreexperience, and they were fast and super nice. So they get rounded up to 4 rather than down to 3. Dog people does two things: hot dogs with lots of toppings and fries with lots of toppings. They're both good, with room for some improvement. Start with the fries. I had the poutine, which was a perfect rendition of what poutine should be: a heaping mound of hot fresh french fries, smothered in tons of gravy, loaded with cheese curds. I know poutine is all the rage these days, and certainly comes dressed up with fancy flourishes elsewhere. But this is the heart of what poutine is: rich. flavorful. comforting. The fries themselves, while cooked to perfection and piping hot, were nothing overly special. They seemed to be of the fairly standard frozen variety. Next the dog. I had mine with slaw, siracha, and added bacon. The slaw was quite good. It had great flavor and there was plenty of it. The downside was that it obscured some of the other flavors. If I were to order it again, I'd probably ask for extra siracha and maybe forego the bacon (most of the bacon flavor was obscured anyway, so might as well be a little healthier, right?). The folks running the truck were super nice, and the food came out incredibly quickly. The latter is no small feat, and it's one of the things that made them stand out. It's definitely something to remember if you're in a rush or trying to choose between multiple trucks.

Had Dog People again this evening. It wasn't on par with the first time I had it. I'd eat their…read morefood again but I don't know if I'd go out of my way for it. Maybe it was an off night.
