I ordered the chicken shawarma bowl combo and a slice of chocolate cake. I would spend my last $5 buying that chocolate cake. It was so good! There was a perfect ratio of cake to frosting/ganache, and I liked that it wasn't overly sweet. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the rice was perfectly cooked. Palm & Spice is located at 5710 Cleveland Ave in the Columbus Square Shopping Center and it's definitely a spot worth checking out. I ordered a few different items, and the Lamb & Beef Bowl was hands-down my favorite--super flavorful and cooked perfectly. The 5-piece Jerk Chicken was also really good, with just the right amount of heat. They also run monthly specials, and right now they're serving up Walking Doritos. I went with shrimp and chicken, and trust me this one is going to be a fan favorite. It absolutely does not disappoint. Of course, you've gotta wash it all down with dessert. I went with a Carrot Cake, and couldn't resist grabbing a Chocolate Cake to go. No regrets at all. If you're in the area, Palm & Spice is definitely worth a visit. read more

Tried Palm and Spice for the first time today with my wife. Had a Falafal Wrap with fries and both were amazing! Super fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Heard about this online, and happened to be right beside it today. Used to be a Tim Horton's, I think. Completely revamped, bright inside and out. No sign out front I don't think, but look for the little green building. There is a drive-through. Basic menu: chicken, chicken sandwiches, salads. I saw jerk chicken, so went with that, plus rice and beans. And I had to add flan. 6 jerk legs, but not BW3-sized, home-cooked size. Big, meaty, tender legs. Coated with jerk, which was flavorful but not spicy- so if you want to try jerk but don't like heat, this might work. I like spicy, so I got some of the sauces they offered (rojo, verde, guac, I think one more.) The rojo was plenty hot. I got the yellow rice, and it was excellent. Again a big portion. And black beans, also great, also huge. The flan was very dense, really like a cheesecake. Good, but not what I expected. Drinks are bottles and juices. I should have gone with pineapple maybe, but Mexican Coke (for flavor and caffeine, in the AM) stood out to me. Great service. Nice inside. Decent price for the portion and quality. read more

Yesterday was my birthday wanted to try something new.First time trying Palm & Spice the waving chicken is what reeled me in. The chicken was good and juicy but the lamb was burnt over cooked and chewy. The yellow rice was good but had onions inside I don't like vegetables. The drink was amazing it was mango mixed with pineapple and hibiscus. I also got a cheese cake that was really good. I love gyro's and saw the place today and thought what a really good looking location and what they've done with the remodel. It's bright cheerful and happy.. I ordered their regular euro and I had to wait five minutes out in the parking lot, which wasn't a big deal . When the sandwich came, I sat in the car and opened it up and looked at it. It looks like it's pre-sliced gyro meat. It wasn't like the ones that are sliced off of vertical rotisserie and has various stages of browning and thicknesses. This thinly sliced same shape. and size. No apparent browning of the meat. Just warning people don't expect a normal gyro meat. And the portion is smaller than most places.. on a positive note they had diced onions, red onions that were a little bit spicy, which I love, and the pita was really good. I ordered what I said was a in-house made pineapple drink. It was a very watery pineapple something more like pineapple water, not juice. . When I pulled around to the drive-through after seeing the beautiful building redo, the drive-through window was gross. The soffit was all in disrepair so sometimes don't be enamored by a catchy look we'll see. This new Mediterranean restaurant on Cleveland Avenue is a welcome addition to North Columbus, replacing the spot held by Tim Hortons. While I've only been once and that was through the drive through, what I had was absolutely delicious. I ordered the quarter grilled chicken, which included black beans, rice, and salad. The chicken and black beans were seasoned to perfection. The have a hibiscus drink that I will be getting every time that I visit this establishment, which will be when I'm not cooking. No more Wendy's, Popeyes, Taco Bell, or other Fast Food joints that let you down more than satisfy you. I am anxious to try their other offerings, but first impressions mean a lot to me!!! read more

The Order - First time visiting Palm & Spice so we ordered several appetizers and an entree, ordered but didn't get them all. An odd situation because I ordered by phone, they repeated the order correctly but, somehow, they didn't include the baba or samosa in the actual order. I was told 20 minutes until pickup, showed up on time, but had to wait at least another 10 minutes until the sorta order was ready and didn't feel like waiting around any longer for the missed items. The Food - 1) Hummus. Bland. Love hummus but never encountered it bland. There's only like 4-5 ingredients in hummus but if you're just gonna puree chickpeas and call it hummus, you're missing the mark. Maybe some more tahini or garlic or salt or quality EVOO, for christ sakes! Seriously, you gotta almost go out of your way to make such bland hummus. If you want good hummus just head up the road for about 1/2 a mile and get it from Yanni's; 2) Falafel. Nice crunch, little flavor, coulda used some salt in the dough; 3) Jerk Chicken. Plenty of "flavor" if heat, in and of itself, is flavor. This was hot chicken, not jerk chicken. Don't get me wrong, I like heat but this heat overpowered the jerk seasonings to the point it was just hot. It was tender but it wasn't jerk chicken. If you want good jerk, Ena's is a couple miles down Cleveland Ave and their jerk will not disappoint; 4) Chicken Shawarma Wrap. The only saving grace! It was good, not great and a little more chicken would have been nice. It was the best part of the meal but the bar was set pretty low at that point. Palm & Spice - Beyond the order mishap and the mediocre food, I don't know what this place is. Are they Greek? Italian? (yes, they even have spaghetti offerings) Jamaican? American? Moroccan? I know you don't have specialize but there's just no identity with their scattershot menu. I guess this is fine approach to a restaurant but the food has to at least be good and taste like the cuisines you're attempting to represent. read more

I drove by the old Tim Hortans building on Cleveland and seen this little restaurant. Not many reviews so I figured meh, I'll try it. Under $10 for 6 chicken legs and not the lil chicken wings we can get all over Ohio. Delicious with a lil heat. Definitely will return. Don't miss out on this. Just one to share a good review as I hope small businesses like these prosper. For the price, i think we received great value for the meals ordered. The seasoning in the jerk chicken especially was surprisingly better than the few Jamaican restaurants I've ordered from in town. The fries were nicely fried as well - crisp on the outside and soft inside. I'll certainly come back at some point when I'm in that part of town. read more
