Everything was awesome! I honestly don't remember the names of the dishes as we ordered three different plates and shared it all family style between two adults and three kids. Beef kabobs were tender cuts of meat seasoned and cooked perfectly. We also had a ground chicken "kabob" that was simply perfect. However, my absolute favorite entree of the night was the stuffed grape leaves! They weren't heavy or greasy like you find in many Mediterranean places. Just the perfect lightness of being steamed and all the great flavors with a hint of lemon that makes the Armenian way the best way in my humble opinion! Awesomeness! I just discovered my new place to hit whenever I have flights in and out of Burbank! The chicken and beef combo lule kebab ($6.75) was exactly what I look for--affordable, a large portion, and offers variety with a range of choices between rice (perfectly fluffy) and fries as well as a sampling of two of their appetizers. I went with the eggplant caviar because I'm a sucker for eggplant and was especially pleased with this smooth and smoky preparation. The yogurt and cucumber was also very refreshing and offered a creamy complement to the sharp onion and savory meat. The service was friendly and well-paced. I ordered and the estimated delivery time said about an hour, I wasn't too happy about but they surprised me by showing up within 20 minutes of placing my order!! Definitely true about having outstanding food. I always order their greek salad. It is by far the best greek salad, or salad in general, that I have come across. I can't believe a place like Tonir exists in the valley! I love Mediterranean food but unfortunately have had too many bad experiences that I had to stray away from it for a long time. There are too many places that serve dry, overcooked meats and charge you double the price for it. Tonir is not that place. I love lule kabobs so I went with the beef the first time. It came with a large bed of rice, hummus and grilled peppers as a side -- The plates all come with two choices of a wide variety of sides, along with a pita bread, or rice. The Lule Beef was tender and flavorful!! Sooo good. The rice was warm and soft. The hummus was good and the grilled pepper was charred and delicious! The food came promptly and hot. I fell in love. You get a lot of food at an affordable price. Second time we ordered, I got the Chicken Breast Kebob plate. Got the same delicious sides I did last time. Chicken was juicy, seasoned and lightly brushed with some lemon juice with the perfect little zest. I recommend this place to anyone who wants some yummy, affordable Mediterranean! When my friend showed me the location on the map I was very curious because I was unaware there was anything other than commercial buildings in this area. When we arrived there was only 1 other patron in the place so we had free reign on where we sat. We took a table by the window and were promptly greeted by the server. I ordered an Armenian coffee and the combo lule plate. The coffee came out first and it was delicious. Shortly thereafter the lule plate came out. The chicken and beef were good but a little salty for my taste and a tad rubbery, the fries were also good but some were cold, the rest of the food was really good. Could have received the 5th star if there was more value in the meal. I bought the Chicken and Beef Shish combo plate and only got 4 pieces of beef when I should've been given 5. Aside from missing that piece of beef I was also given maybe 2 spoonfuls of Tabule. You'd expect a fuller plate as the partition on the plate could've easily held at least 4 times the amount given. Especially when I look at some of the photos posted by other Yelpers, seems like they received a lot more than I did. As far as the quality and taste of the food, I can't complain. Definitely delicious, but you could get so much more and just as good, if not better, at Zankou Chicken paying a few dollars less. This is a family-owned and operated restaurant that makes everything from scratch and never disappoints. Came here with a coworker at lunchtime today, thanks to the positive reviews on Yelp and the fact that I was really craving some Mediterranean food. It's definitely a "blink and miss it" type of place because the storefront is so non-descript, being in an industrial area. But we were pleasantly surprised. Interior isn't much to write about, but it's clean and comfortable. There was a pool table, and a TV broadcasting the Travel Channel at the time (which was okay by me!). We both ordered the chicken kabob plate and some sodas. At $6.75, it was the most juicy & flavorful kabob I've ever had, at a truly reasonable price. Along with that you could pick from two side dishes, or grilled tomatoes & peppers, plus rice or pita. I went with the grilled veggies; my coworker opted for hummus & eggplant caviar, both of which were divine. If we could lick the little bowls they came in, we would. :-) Nina, the lovely girl who helped us, was delightful and super accommodating. She kept our drink glasses full and even gave us dessert -- chocolate cupcakes -- upon learning it was our first time there. And she even took our picture with the "Most Interesting Man in the World" standee that's curiously displayed in the dining room. Ha! I can't say enough about discovering local holes in the wall. I've only gotten take out, but the restaurant itself is nice and clean. I usually get the chicken shish kabob plate with rice, greek salad, and hummus. The chicken is always very moist and tender. I found this as a terrific lunch place as it use to be close to my office. My daughter and I order here almost every Saturday...if had pretty much every chicken dish and the lamb chops (which are my fave) cucumber yogurt is amazing too !!
