I put my trust in blindly following Yelp for rating and pricing, and I couldn't be happier with being led here. My parents had just landed in Burbank from the Midwest and we wanted to eat somewhere nearby. With 4.5 stars and a one-$ price rating, this seemed like a great choice. It is! A very friendly ambiance, ample portions of amazing food and lots of choices, this was a place we are already recommending. read more

Absolutely love the mom and dad they have a great sense of flavors. Humus like all their food is made always fresh for you. The prices are really reasonable. I highly recommend. read more

I yelped healthy food nearby and this place with four and a half stars ( should be five) came up. I asked the very friendly and inviting server for any recommendations, I got the standard "everything" but said that he likes the beef shish-kabab. I enjoyed every bite of the soft, tender and very flavorful kabab. I will defiantly come by again when I'm in the area. read more

Tonir Cafe - Beef shish-kabab plate with a salad - Mediterranean Near Me - Burbank, California

Really impressed with this place. I stopped in after a meeting and ordered the chicken Kebob sandwich. It was only $6.00, so I expected something small. I was pleasantly surprised to find an extremely filling, foot long sub looking, loaded Kebob wrapped in an extra large pita. They wrapped it up for me and I enjoyed it as I sat through traffic after a long day. If I'm back in the area again, I definitely plan on being back and exploring the menu, as well as dining in. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was spacious and clean too. Excellent, yet all-too-brief experience. read more

Holy crap! I'm from Texas but this place makes we wish I lived in the neighborhood. The food was tasty, the service was amazing, and the prices were beyond reasonable. Thanks for repping Burbank Y'all. read more

Based on the positive reviews I was really hoping for something great. The food was "ok". One of the orders kept coming out cold every time it was sent back. I've recently had Mediterranean on the east coast from Lebanese restaurants and it was spectacular. I was hoping for the same here. Instead of being welcomed, I felt like we were intruding on the staff's evening. Our group of 4 wanted appetizers to share but the waiter said that they were included with our meal - when served, they were individual potions and too small to pass around. I would have gladly ordered the larger portions. read more

Wow... I'm so pleasantly surprised! I did a take out order and got the pork kabobs! They were amazing! Some of the best I've had! The hummus and Greek salad were amazing too! Fresh and great seasoning! The staff was nice and quick! It's a great hole in the wall! I'll be back next time I'm in town! read more

This really is a little hole in the wall: but they served tasty and generous amounts of food. Did a pick up as we were staying at the local Marriott for a convention. Weird spot for the restaurant - overlooking the 5 on a fairly barren strip of road - but decided what the hell. The lamb chops were great, as was the eggplant caviar. Got the greek salad with a chicken shish for my daughter. The damn pick up box was HEAVY with salad/chicken. It got a two-thumbs-up from the daughter on flavor read more

Best Lule, everything is freshly cooked. Cozy hidden place, great service, price is a steal for the quality. You must try for yourself!

Good kebabs. There aren't too many mediterranean places close by. They are doing a great job holding down the fort. The service is also very friendly. read more

Wow!!!! Can't believe I've never been here and I work right around the area! This place is amazingly yummmy and super fresh. I got the chicken breast combo (#2) and substituted for a Greek salad instead of rice with the caviar egg plant and hummus as my 2 sides. All for $10 bucks! I will definitely be back to try everything at least once read more

Sometimes you find yourself in Sun Valley driving up and down San Fernando Road aimlessly trying to find something to eat. Don't be scared. It will all be okay. Because of Tonir Cafe. Tucked away behind the railroad tracks next to a business park, Tonir is a sparcely decorated hole-in-the-wall eatery featuring affordable Armenian fare. We ordered their (off-menu) Appetizer Sampler, which was comprised of six of their apps plus a basket of bread: hummus, "eggplant caviar", grape leaves, tzatziki, bean salad and a tabouleh so fresh and beautifully acidic that I asked them to add more of it to my Chicken Lule Sandwich, which was flavorful and delicious. My husband really enjoyed their beef kebab sandwich, which he brought home with him and ate cold hours later. I wouldn't order any of the teas again (iced or hot) and if they get a large to-go order ahead of you, be prepared to wait. We did like that everything was priced reasonably. Service was also friendly. Definitely give it a shot if you're in the neighborhood. read more

A hidden gem in the city of Burbank. The food here is very tasty. I had the lamb ribs with the side of pickled beets and tabule (2 sides come with your entree). I wanted a third side but contemplated between the hummus and eggplant caviar. I stuck with the eggplant caviar, but the waitress surprised me with the side of hummus for free! The portions of the sides were rather small however. I usually order for take-out and the side portions were a lot larger. Next time, I'll just order to-go. read more

We absolutely love Tonir restaurant. Their dood is top quality, always fresh and consistently amazing!! The staff is super nice as well, Armenian own, no bullsht. Unfortunately they are closed Saturdays and Sundays otherwise I would cater their food at my events. read more

We ordered some office catering for 9 people to be delivered. I was told to order the Family Feast 2 which came with 3 skewers of Beef Lule Kebab,3 skewers Chicken Lule Kebab, 3 skewers of Chicken Shish Kebab, Rice, Green Salad, Grilled tomato, onions and peppers and pita bread. I asked for some hummus and tabule. I hoped it was enough and oh boy there was more than enough of this delicious, fresh food. I am now a huge fan and so are my co workers who actually recommended I try and order from Tonir Cafe. The lady I dealt with was great and the food arrived packaged nicely and did I say plentiful!!!?? read more

This place is definitely off the beaten track. I read about it on Eater LA and knew I just had to try the lamb ribs. I went by myself and was one of the only non-middle Eastern people there. Everyone was friendly and I got a table but later it filled up fast. I got the lamb ribs and a beef kebab. The food cake kind of piecemeal so I got the ribs and then the kebab way later. I really loved it, I've never had lamb ribs before but I would certainly go again. I'd like to bring my parents there next time they are in town. read more

Our company orders from Tonir often and their chicken and beef kabobs are always excellent, but I'm writing my review based on one dish I had for dinner recently - their baby back ribs! I cannot remember a similar dish in recent memory that was as juicy, succulent, well-marinated and MEATY as these ribs! They were very lightly sauced in order for you to enjoy the seasoned meat. FYI a full rack has 12 ribs, and a half rack has 6 of these babies! Bear in mind these will take about 30 minutes to cook from when you place your order, but the wait is more than worth it...Thanks to this memorable meal, I am now faced with a dilemna, how can I order anything else from their already excellent menu that ISN'T these ribs?!?!? P.S. They serve a bottled pear lemonade soda that is from Georgia (the country) and is unique and delicious....Can't recommend it highly enough:) read more

Amazing!! Just moved to a new office and I saw this place on yelp and walked over thinking. It's gonna be whatever and little did I know the food and service was amazing! Got the chicken breast plate with fries and 2 side for a really good price. The wraps looked really good too. I will be coming back here! read more

I just went to a Mediterranean place that had 350 yelp reviews and 4 1/2 Stars. I ate maybe half of the food, and my stomach is rumbling. I got the chicken and beef kabobs, house specialties. The chicken had gristle and a spongy texture when slicing it. The beef was like cheap stew meat, full of stringy gristle. Stew meat is good when it's cooked a long time. This was just mushy and gristly. Ugh, disappointed. read more

Excellent value for money med/Armenian/Persian cuisine. It's not super delicious like Raffi's in Glendale, but it's also half the price. Super clean venue, good selection of the basics and very nice and efficient service. It's conveniently less than 5 min drive from the food option black hole that is the Burbank Bob Hope Airport area. Good for a pre or post flight meal. They also have a couple of large screens playing sports and what not, and appear to have beer on tap and alcohol service - pretty sweet! read more

My roomate found this spot for us to eat at one night. I thought she'd sent me on a wild goose chase because the location is so in the middle-of-no-where..but it's a nice lil hidden place!. Great prices - and the food was great. The portions are big enough to have a second meal for leftovers! The restaurant itself is very small and cozy; nothing extravagant. Owned by a family - it has that "ma & pa" indie feel - which I love! read more

This is likely the best Mediterranean/Persian food you're gonna get on the way to catch a flight out of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena (aka Bob Hope, BUR) airport. (They don't get 5-stars only because I've had much better, but that doesn't mean they're bad... far from it.) For some reason, they don't use the normal Persian food terminology. For example, instead of "kubideh" or "koobideh," they call it "beef lule kabob," and "eggplant caviar" instead of "babaganoush." I came in on a weekday late afternoon (530p), and the place was deserted, so if you're doing takeout, that's a good time to swing by. So I ordered both of the above, and the server was kind enough to seal it in extra plastic wrap because I told him I was taking this on a plane. Perfect meal that's so much more savory than a bag of peanuts or pretzels! I caught more than one envious glance at the wonderful scent that was emanating from my foam boxed meal while nom-nomming at 29k ft. :-) read more

This was our first time visiting Tonir Cafe. We ordered the lamb chops/pork lule plate and the pork kabob/chicken lule. Both plates were very tasty and the meats were done just right. The portions were large, so we had enough left over for another smaller lunch. The staff were all very nice. read more

Fresh, damn good food for not a lot of coin. Seriously, the portions are huge and they don't skimp on quality. Best hummus I've had outside of Israel. Online ordering is easy and fast too. read more

The lentils soup was average but the kabob and eggplant caviar were the best in the area and so is the customer service Definitely worth a visit read more

Tonir Cafe met all of my expectations, I expected authentic Armenian flavor done well and a relaxed atmosphere which is what I got. My son had the chicken shish with French fries and I ordered him the pickled vegetables and Sorna or stuffed grape leaves as sides which were more for me than him. For myself I ordered the green salad with chicken shish kebab. The wait for the food to come out seemed to be a little long, possibly due to how hungry I was but long none the less. I would have appreciated the sides coming out while we waited for the chicken shish and salad with chicken shish to be ready. I understand that it takes time to cook the chicken but the other sides are more than likely prepared earlier. My son gave the chicken shish 2 thumbs up. He's not into onions but he was fine picking them off the top. The French fries had a savory seasoning on them that was nice. They were crisp and hot, but not overcooked. My Salad was incredible. The dressing that they tossed it with was savory and spicy with a smokey finish and the chicken shish kebab that they chopped and added to the salad, made it the perfect size for a meal. The vegetables were fresh and crisp and cut to a good size. Tomatoes, romaine lettuce, and cucumbers round it out. The Armenian coffee that I finished the meal with was exactly as I remembered from my trip to Yerevan. Strong and hot. The strawberry cheesecake my son and I split was ok. It was frozen in the middle though. All in all a good meal at an affordable price, $28.30, $34 after tips I took off half a star for the time with nothing to munch on between ordering and getting food, and a half a star for the frozen center cheesecake. read more

Best Mediterranean for the $$$!!! The pork kebabs here are the best! Juicy and tender. The chicken thigh kebabs are awesome too. One of my favorite things at Tonir though is the jalapeño humus. Love this place!!! Addicted! :) read more

Tried this place based on other helpers reviews and I was happy to say that their meat is very good. Hummus is authentic and garlic sauce is very fresh with a good bite, not too greasy. The meat is seasoned very well and juicy. Lentil soup was a bit bland though. It's a family run place with friendly service. A bit of a wait for the food but you know its fresh and made to order. First things first -- the hummus was really quite good! As to other things... well, they didn't have some items on the menu. We found out after ordering, waiting for our order, and then being informed that said item was unavailable. Um, OK. Would have been nice to know beforehand. The pita was OK. Not fresh at all. Not even warm. Whatevs. I got the eggplant something, which was good. I just wished the pita bread had been better. I probably won't be back. read more

This place looks like such a dive on the outside. But on the inside, the only part that looks divey is the pool table. It actually looks really nice and serves some great food. This is a full service restaurant, but what surprised me about the menu were the prices. They are really cheap for what you get, and it's quite a bargain! The chicken breast kabob plate was only $7.50, and the lule kabob plate my friend got was $6.75. Any kabob plate also comes with two sides, and I highly recommend getting hummus as one of them. After all, you do get pita bread as well. The only thing that I didn't like was the salad I got. It was supposed to be a green salad, but the lettuce was anything but green. However, that is only minor and I had plenty of other food to not even care. I highly recommend checking this place out. It's cheap eats and you're guaranteed to leave full and happy! read more

Really good food here! The restaurant is easy to miss if you are driving by. It's right next to a boat repair shop along side the I-5 freeway, Its a small family fun restaurant. The place is really clean including the bathroom. Just real plain looking, nothing fancy about the place. But I didn't go there for the look of the place. The menu is pretty simple and the prices are very reasonable, Lets get to the food. That is why this place got 5 stars along with the great service. My wife ordered the pork chop plate and i had the chicken kabob plate. The flavors were really good to where you tasted the seasoning but still tasted the flavor of the meat itself. You were able to pick two sides with your dinner plate. We tried the hummus, eggplant dip, and the stuffed grape leaves. The sides were small but super tasty. My favorite was the grape leaves. All in all a great place to eat at and cant wait to go back. read more

Ordered the chicken and beef lule for takeout. I ordered it with salad, yogurt and cucumber, and roasted pepper. I arrived early and it was already prepared waiting for me to pick up. The lady who gave me my order was very sweet and welcoming. I would love to dine in sometime as the place looks much nicer on the inside than out.
