Great place ! Good location, staff is very friendly and helpful. Service is the best, and the food is just incredible. I ordered the beef lule sandwich and it was so good that I had to order another one (with chicken). I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to try exceptional Mediterranean/ Armenian food. Big thanks to Loris for being attentive and helpful with assisting me! read more

I work next door to Tonir cafe and for the last 3 years, this place has been the best tasting chicken kebab period! We Order from tonir cafe atleast 2 or 3x a week religiously, because they're chicken taste so good. Always flavorful and juicy! Compared to bravo cafe or mini kebab, this place serves very good quality meats and exceeds expectations. Trust me, Thank you for great food and service! From-JR. Easily one of Burbank's hidden treasures. The food is delicious, price point and portion size are great and the staff are all friendly and attentive. I was introduced to this place by my sister and i haven't stopped coming. Their chicken is super tasty as well as their stuffed grape leaves. Give this place a try, you will love it. read more

This is my favorite Armenian restaurant. Great food and service. Good prices. Definitely go!

Great place to eat Mediterranean food. Recommend the chicken and the Humus....so good!!

Amazingly fresh and super tasty Mediterranean food. Quite possibly the best I've had. The chicken shish and lule were so juicy and perfectly seasoned I'll definitely be back! read more

Had the Beef lulu and chicken. Great combo for a newbie. Armenian food is similar to greek food. I loved the greek salad as well. So flavorful. The jalapeño hummus has a kick! read more

Tonir Cafe has a pork chops kabob hot plate $8.95 that is mouthwatering good. Two nice size thick pork chops seasoned perfectly, pita bread, rice or salad and two sides. I like their rice with hummus and tabule. Great place to order take out or grab a bite for lunch. read more

I normally don't write bad reviews; however, tonight's experience was rather troubling. The wife and I decided to order delivery... So we did. 30 minutes later we get a call from the delivery person advising they are out front. Which they were. Just at the wrong house. Now I understand that mistakes happen. I've made plenty of those... However when returning a missed call from Tonir, the girl who answered essentially said I gave the wrong address. This may be a half truth, but 1. I know where I live. 2. We've ordered from the PLENTY of times before. I'm incredibly perturbed that she couldn't just apologize and move on. I was essentially blamed for her ineptitude. Last time I checked, accurate customer service is incumbent upon the vendor and not the customer. Pretty sure I'm going to be giving another Mediterranean place my business moving forward. You've had better days tonir! I hope you return to your prior glory. read more

Ordered the chicken & beef kabobs combo plate with French fries, hummus and Greek salad and baklava for dessert . I placed my order for delivery to my hotel room since im on a business trip and didnt have a rental car. They were super friendly & helpful, since it was my 1st time ordering form here (haven't had Mediterranean food in 15 yrs!). The food was brought to my hotel fast and it was super AMAZING!!!! Definitely coming back on my next trip. read more

The other reviews are true, the hummus is phenomenal. I ordered for takeout and the food was hot, delicious, and quickly prepared. Here's what I got: Beef Shish Kabob, Chicken Shish Kabob, Combo beef & chicken kabob, flattened chicken plate. Sides that were included were fries, rice, tabbouleh, hummus, bbq tomatoe and pepper, and ikra/caviar (an eggplant dish). Everything was pretty good, but the best was the beef shish kabob... next time that's definitely what I'm getting. With fries, hommus, and tabbouleh. That's what I'd recommend b/c the meat was tender and succulent, perfectly seasoned. The chicken and stuff were good too, but the beef was the best. Since I'm new to the are, this is definitely gonna be my go to place for Armenian takeout. read more

I found this place last year here on yelp. When we first went, we were a little skeptical because of the location, and it doesn't look like much from the outside. And, walking in, the decor wasn't great, and we were the only people there. That all being said, TONIR IS AMAZING. Seriously. All of their food is amazing, and its very affordable. We usually come for lunch, and always get the chicken kabob, hummus, and yogurt and cucumber with lavash. Delicious and more than enough food! Definitely work the trek for us coming from Silverlake. Come eat here! You won't be dissapointed! read more

I dont know what happened to the food here. Rice was super bland but not as bland as the pita bread and the chicken was dry. Ordered my usual chicken kabob and beef kabob plates. Very disappointed. Did this place go under new ownership? Did the kitchen change staff? Whatever it is, I'm not coming back. Used to be my favorite Mediterranean in Burbank especially for large take out party catering orders. So sad. read more

So came here 2 weeks ago with my gal cousins and absolutely loved the place. It takes a bit to get your food BUT it's because it's fresh. You can taste it with the first bite. The hummus is great, best I've tasted in the area. The girls that work there are so helpful and friendly. It's a hole in the wall that needs a tad renovations but they try really hard to make it quaint and homey. Anyways... Came back today and it was the same. As long as they are consistent I will be a loyal customer...bye bye zankou chicken. read more

Went to the Tonir Cafe tonight to listen to a musician friend sing there. Never expected to fall in love with the restaurant. Ordered the beef lule and got hummus and sarme sides. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe the level of deliciousness in the food I enjoyed. The food is top-quality, very flavorful and well-prepared. But, even more unexpected was the staff. Courteous, attentive and efficient. I was so blown away that I actually signed up with Yelp just so I could write this review. I live about 25 minutes away from the restaurant but will definitely be returning on a regular basis despite the drive. The one thing I don't know that any other review has mentioned is the price. 2 generously portioned entrees complete with 2 sides and 2 beverages were under $25 -- a steal of a deal. The food was tastier than Zankou (their logical competition) and less expensive. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for someplace quiet and unpretentious offering great food. I can't endorse their food enough. read more

Amazing is an understatement. The food is amazing. Staff are great and friendly. Prices are extremely reasonable. My family orders from here at least once a week, and we have never been disappointed. Food is consistently delicious and most importantly FRESH! This restaurant's service has always been wonderful. This place is a staple in my family. PS: I highly recommend to try their Kebab plates! read more

Walked in with the Rolex Senior and the Conny (my parents) around 3pm on a Saturday and there was no one there but a smiling Armenian lady. Usually I turn around and leave but the Catholic guilt pulled me back in. Glad we stayed. My dad had the beef kabobs, my mom her usual, safe chicken dish, and I had the pork. We picked at each other's food so we all had a taste. Everything was delicious including the hummus, tabule and side salad. The prices were even better. The bill was under $40 with beverages. I charmed the waitress to change the TV channel for us. I explained to them we didnt understand Armenian TV so they switched to Univision to accomodate the Rolex and his strange love/hate relationship with the Mexican Soccer League. This is a great hole in the wall place with very good food and fair prices. read more

The Tonir Cafe is an excellent find! I was visiting Burbank today, and found this gem. The location is a little out of the way, BUT definitely worth the side trip. I enjoyed the delicious chicken kabob plate with Hummus, greek salad, rice and pita bread. The chicken was so moist and yummy with the perfect blend of spices. The hummus is excellent as everyone has said! The rice with the sumac, and the salad were the perfect compliment to round out the meal. The waitress was friendly and helpful. I loved the food so much, that I ordered more to go! Great service, quality and value. Stop by, you won't regret it!!! read more

Tarragon soda. Say what???? Yes they have this as part of their fountain soda drinks. Tried a little sample from the nice lady and it was quite refreshing. Found out it is a popular Russian/Armenian soda drink. I had the vegetarian sampler platter which was not on the menu but requested since it was a hot day and wasn't willing to eat hot entrees. The waitress let me choose 6 items from the appetizer menu. I had the jalapeño hummus, red bean salad, Greek salad, eggplant dip, pickled veggies, and tabboule. Came with a basket of pita bread. Everything was delicious. And all for just $6.50. What a deal. I also sampled my coworkers chicken kabob and it was very juicy and tender albeit kind of lukewarm, not hot. I ordered iced tea and explained I had just walked 3 miles and that I would be asking for alot of refills. She brought out a whole pitcher of ice tea for me. Thumbs up! The crazy thing is I drank the entire pitcher which was about 72 ounces!!!! It definitely quenched my thirst. read more

I work around the corner and our entire staff is so happy that Tonir moved into the neighborhood. Friendly, courteous staff. Food is delicious, fresh & tasty. It looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but the best places usually do. And the Beef Lule Kabob plate is enough to share which makes it a bargain at $6.75. Plus, I think they have the best hummus around. You won't be disappointed. read more

This place is amazing. First - absolutely delicious and high quality ingredients. Second - very reasonably priced (I would say "cheap" but that doesn't do it justice because the quality is A+). Third - Great staff who are friendly, quick, and efficient! I recommend their plates. I usually go for the chicken breast kabob or beef kabob and I love the variety with the sides - sometimes I go hummus, sometimes I go salad, sometimes I switch it up with cucumber yogurt, if I'm feeling feisty I go jalapeno hummus - all delicious and perfect compliments with the juicy grilled meats and fluffy rice! I'm lucky that this place is down the street from my office, but even if it wasn't I would continue to order from here weekly! Excellent Mediterranean food for lunch or dinner... sometimes both (don't judge). Highly recommended! read more

Don't believe their delivery hours! Willing enough to take my order (through Eat24), willing to process my card, quick enough to issue a refund after the restaurant says they don't have a delivery driver, gonna take up to 5 DAYS for it to get back to my card!?! Welcome to the 21st century! Disappointing. That food looked good. Now to find another place ready and willing to deliver to my office on a rainy night. read more

This place is great for lunch! We always call our order in and come to pick it up maybe 10-15 later. They are very quick and also deliver if you're close by. I always get the chicken shish kabob plate, which comes with rice and two sides. My favorite sides are the hummus and yogurt/cucumber. They are kind of hidden since they are located near a lot of warehouses and across from train tracks, but it's a quick affordable lunch if you need. read more

Stopped in the area for a late lunch. I ordered the combo plate chicken and beef luleh with French fries, Greek salad, and jalapeño hummus. Everything looked amazing and tasted even better. The meat was so flavorful .. The French fries were cooked just how I like.. The hummus tasted very traditional.. And the Greek salad was a nice compliment. The owner Gayane even brought out some extra eggplant caviar to try . Definitely have to come here when I'm in the area!!! read more

Tonir Cafe - Greek salad, chicken luleh and beef luleh combo, with French fries - Mediterranean Near Me - Burbank, California

The quality of the meat of this restaurant is outstanding, plus they really know how to give it flavor and life. Everything I have tried so far has been amazing, including their Shish kebab, fries, beets and the baklava is really fresh and delicious. The only thing I did not like that much was the hummus. Also make sure you call ahead of time to place an order, it does take about 20 minutes to be ready, on the flip side if you are close by they have free delivery! read more

Near my work place so I decided I should try this place out. Ordered from EAT24 and it was a very easy process chose everything I wanted. The yogurt & cucumber & baked tomato was great with it. I've tried better but it was still good! read more

Tonir Cafe - Chicken Breast Kabob with Rice. Sides: Yogurt And Cucumbers Green Salad - Mediterranean Near Me - Burbank, California

Great Mediterranean joint! The basmati rice came out tasting fragrant and buttery (though I don't think they put butter in it, it just had a nice buttery flavor, delicious!) The shish chicken and lule chicken combo was delicious. Same as the beef lule. Meats all cooked to perfection. Moist and tender and grilled to the T! The sides- cucumber & yogurt was absolutely delicious, creamy with fresh dill, jalapeño hummus was fresh & on point with a mild kick. The eggplant caviar was very authentic and tasty. The tabouleh was more of a simple parsley version for my taste. Perhaps I will order another side next time. Greek salad was zesty - loaded with everything from the feta to Kalamata Olives. French fries were hot, fresh and crisp and seasoned. Gayane greeted us with a smile. Service was quick, efficient & hospitable. I highly recommend this place. I'll be thinkin of this place whenever we return to the area! Yum :) read more

Coming to Tonir Cafe was fueled solely for my love of tasty Mediterranean food. Plus I was getting tired of eating greasy fast food and being at restaurants where you're just a number. In other words, I wanted to try something new in Burbank! I drove by Tonir many time prior but never stopped by. So I decided to do myself a favor and try a new place. And this place doesn't disappoint. Tonir is not ideally located and the neighborhood can be a put off to some. The exterior of Tonir was not much to look at...in fact it looked rather dark from the outside. But once you walk in, it seems like being in another place. The cafe itself was rather spacious, very clean, orderly, and flowed pretty well. It almost looked like a museum on the inside; a museum with a full size billiard table in the back corner. The evening I visited was a slow night. Only one other table was occupied but that didn't deter me. I had the Beef Lule Kabob combination dinner with came with two sides; I picked hummus and bean salad. The hummus was pretty delicious and creamy which was just perfect for pita bread. The bean salad was good also; baked beans with onions and red peppers. Very good! The Lule was especially good; good sized chunks of seasoned ground beef which came with basmati rice and pita bread The beef was not dry at all; the amount of food that came on the plate made the price of $6.75 a rather good deal! In fact every item in the menu was deal considering the amount and quality of food you get. At the end of my meal, I was stuffed! I will certainly return. read more

I just had dinner here for the first time. Small little restaurant, however it is a place to try! I really enjoyed the lule and shish kabob. I will be bringing my family back next time. Thank you for the good food! read more

My girlfriends and I had just finished a fitness class and wanted a healthy dinner afterwards. We chose Tonir Cafe because it was close by and we are glad we did. The food is healthy, delicious, and at a very affordable price. I almost passed it up while I was driving because it is hidden among a business area, although it is on the corner. There is ample parking across the street. I ordered the chicken kabob with french fries and two sides. I chose the eggplant caviar and the tabule. My girlfriends friends had the lamb chops and the chicken lule with rice, hummus and the yogurt with cucumber. Usually I hate ordering chicken when I am out because I eat chicken breast on a daily basis and the thought of a cheat meal with chicken in it almost makes me cringe. The chicken didn't disappoint me or make me regret what I had ordered; it was tasty and juicy on the inside. The french fries were made perfectly - crispy on the inside, soft on the inside and lightly seasoned. The tabule was refreshing and not overly sour. The eggplant caviar wasn't as appealing as it almost tasted like a salsa to me, but my friend enjoyed it so much she finished hers and whatever I had leftover. The yogurt with cucumber was equally as refreshing as the tabule and was my favorite side dish of them all. It was the perfect ratio of yogurt to cucumber and it wasn't too runny nor too thick. A perfect dipping sauce for the pita bread. The texture and taste of the hummus made it yummy and it went well with the pita bread that wasn't too thick or burned. I also really enjoyed the rice. I'm Asian and grew up with white rice with almost every meal so I can get picky when I eat rice outside of Asian restaurants, but it was soft and equally as delicious! My girlfriends enjoyed the lamb chops and the lule which I didn't try because I was so content with my meal and their side dishes. My chicken kabob meal was only $6.75 and our check ended up being only $33 for the three of us and we all ordered a drink. What a deal for Mediterranean food! The only reason I give it four stars is because we were only one of two tables at the time we were dining and the service was very slow. It took a while to get the diet coke and hot tea served. read more

Great family owned and operated local establishment. I was introduced to Tonir Cafe by a friend who I also happen to work with. Everybody in the office loves their food and we constantly found ourselves ordering for delivery during lunch. My coworkers have sampled a whole bunch of things from their extensive menu, but I always stick to my chicken thigh kabob with hummus and tabouleh! My sister now always orders at her work place. It's great for delivery, to-go, or even to sit in. Everybody is so nice and welcoming. A big plus is that the actual restaurant is soooo clean! Oh and it doesn't hurt that they keep their prices very affordable! read more

We were dropping a friend off at the Bob Hope Airport and we pulled over and yelped for "dinners". The first thing that caught our eyes was Tonir Cafe. Driving there was a bit unnerving as we passed closed warehouses and dark, ominous streets. The only lights were what looked a bit like a dive bar -- Tonir Cafe. If not for Yelp, we would have passed by. But, ditching our fears, we walked in to the nearly empty place (8:00 on a Friday, surprisingly), and were greeted by a wall-size TV showing Ultimate Fighting Championships -- not an auspicious beginning. But, the large selection of beers on tap lured the girl friend, and the table cloths and linen napkins were inviting. We were warmly welcomed. The food is FANTASTIC! We had humus and eggplant caviar and salad and the most delectable beef kabab I think I've ever had. It's truly a five star food experience. The hummus was so creamy. The eggplant was piquant and refreshing. The Armenian coffee (much like Turkish -- though maybe dangerous to suggest so), was excellent and sweet (even without sugar). The only reason I don't give the place five stars were the large competing TV screens and heavily mirrored interior. They seem like they want to be a dance club. Oh well! Thanks Yelp -- next time in Burbank, we're coming back. read more

A true hole in the wall. My friend took me here for lunch as is it right down the street from where she works. You can barely tell it's a restaurant from the outside and even inside the decor is very simple. I had the chicken plate. For less than $7, you get pita bread, a choice or rice or salad, and two sides/appetizers. The portions are very generous. And the food is incredibly tasty. The chicken was so well seasoned. I was so full but just had to finish the chicken. I've realized I'm not big on hummus, but the yogurt and cucumber was good. The appetizers come in pretty decent portions as well. The service was very friendly and fairly quick (easily in and out within the lunch hour). Overall a great lunch spot! read more

This place honestly has the best hummus and ikra(eggplant caviar) ever! I always order the chicken shish or beef shish with a grilled tomato. They even have really good rice, that they sprinkle onions & greens on top, dont forget to add some butter and the juice of the tomato on top of the rice, wow tastes even better! read more

Some of the best chicken shish kabob I've ever had! Knocking off 1 star, as both times I've got Tabule as a side, it's been very dry.

We ordered delivery through Yelp (via the Eat24 partnership). Food was very tasty and came quite quickly (Eat24 estimated 60 mins. We got our food within 40). BUT we ordered two extra garlic pastes for $0.50 each. They came in the little containers - one was full and the other was only 1/4 full. Felt totally gypped - we love garlic paste. i guess if I was eating there, we could just go up and tell them. Since it was delivery, there was nothing we could do. Oh well. read more

Wow, I consistently seem to forget about this place, but am happily reminded whenever I'm in the area. I got the chicken kebab with fries, pita, tomato, and pepper for under 8 bucks.
