Stinky tofu
Eric L.

Tofu King does not live up to its name. I read one review saying this is the best Taiwanese food in LA. I disagree. 3/5 Taiwanese sausage rice was maybe the worst version I've had. While the rest of the components are good, the Taiwanese sausage looks like it's been sitting out and reheated several times. Instead of slicing the sausage after cooking the whole link, It looks like they cup all the sausages into slices and then stir fried it. The result is a dry and bland sausage that does not satisfy. The dark color is also off putting. 4/5 Squid thick soup was the best thing I ordered. Simple but delicious. At $16, it's quite expensive for a small bowl. 3/5 Combination plate. For $20 you get 1 egg, 1 beancurd square, and a bed of overcooked seaweed. Not tasty and definitely not a value. 2/5 Lastly the item that made me order delivery from Tofu King. The item that they should have perfected, given their name. This fried stinky tofu barely had any funk. It's was fried to the point of almost cardboard texture. I found myself triple dipping each piece to be able to get some moisture from the sauce in each bite.

Small spot with a parking lot, Zelle and cash only. The server which I also presume is the owner is very nice. He seems so genuine and was very helpful with the menu. I can tell he has a lot of care for his food and customers. I heard they had the best stinky tofu in the area but I didn't think it was that great - at least the fried one. It was a bit hard and not very stinky so I wouldn't come here just for that. However we went back the next day to try the stinky tofu in the pots and it was delicious. What we got: Crispy chicken Crispy chicken rice Spicy wontons Ru Lou fan Stinky tofu Cold noodle 3 variety cold side dish Wintermelon tea All of the above were good. Stand outs were the crispy chicken and the cold side dish. Also loved the wintermelon tea but it could be too sweet for some. The owner said that he makes the wintermelon tea himself and it is not from a can. The spicy wontons were also delicious but do note it's spicy! The cold noodle didn't look like the photo, the noodles were much thinner. However it was still tasty.

We were visiting family in the Pasadena/Arcadia area from Las Vegas and were craving stinky tofu and authentic Taiwanese comfort food. Over our 5‑day weekend, we ended up coming to Tofu King twice because there were so many dishes we wanted to try. We ordered braised pork over rice, stinky tofu, cold noodles, pork chop over rice, marinated tofu, chicken fingers, and several appetizers - everything was delicious. The flavors were spot‑on, the portions generous, and the service consistently warm and attentive. We're used to excellent Taiwanese food in NYC/Flushing, and Tofu King absolutely holds its own. We only wish there were a location back home in Las Vegas!

Quiet, Cheap looking and doesn't seem to have a lot of staff working. I went during lunch on a weekday, there was no one besides the shop keeper. There were a few people who ordered takeout waiting for their orders. But the stanky tofu was bomb, definitely worthy of the name. My taiwanese gf liked it and she is very particular with her stinky tofu. This place seems to be the real deal. Definitely going back!

This isn't a fancy spot, but it's a great place in LA if you're craving authentic Taiwanese cuisine. They had everything I was craving, the oyster omelette and the cold noodles were my favorites. I even grabbed a bento box to go for a late night supper. The prices are definitely higher than what you'd pay in Taiwan, but it's still a solid choice if you want to enjoy a taste of Taiwan without hopping on a plane. Also, I don't think they accept cards.

Taiwanese stinky tofu is so hard to find here in america i think mainly due to the smell. Tofu king makes them perfectly! The kimchi that goes along with it is has the perfect amount of tang. The tofu is crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside. I will always make it a point to stop here and pick up stinky tofu when i make the drive down to socal. It is definitely worth the stop if you are craving authentic taiwanese food. I have also tried the pork rice and the pork fat perfectly coats every grain of rice. The owners are super friendly as well. Defining try it out!

At the beginning, the owner was quite rude telling me he was the only person working and could not gave our party two tables for 8 bc he might have other smaller parties coming. He asked us to wait outside and end up he brought out another smaller table and put the table for us, but when we walked in, he insisted us to wait outside and it's quite hot during that time and we have one elderly and 3 kids in the party. Anyway, we waited and went in when he called us, The menu seems extensive and they are famous for their stinky tofu, so we ordered that, a cold noodles, oyster pancakes, a minced pork rice and some pop corn chicken and veggies to share. The food came out quickly and it's tasty. The tofu had a nice texture and great with the sauces. I also love the sausages too; it has good flavor and texture especially with the garlic. The cold noodles are also very tasty and refreshing. My least favorite is the oyster pancakes...the texture was ok plus not many oysters. The owner end up becoming friendly. During summer, could be hot bc they didn't turn on the ac when we were there, but luckily it's still winter. No water provided, you either get their bottle water or drinks or bring in your own water. The place is small, be prepared if you have a larger party.

It's a local business, good company family ambiance. Staff is great he "owner" will explain you and answer any questions you may have. Thank you Food - delicious Awesome Stinky Tofu - with Garlic Soy or spicy sauce! Check out the images. Don't forget to try the plum sour drink.

Nostalgia Taiwanese food with fresh ingredients (NO MSG) and authentic taste of many home-sick dishes. Definitely try their signature special - Stinky tofu, oyster pancake, beef noodle soup & minced pork rice! The menu is overwhelming with colorful pictures and description. Ambiance is pretty much what you may feel when you go to mom n' pop food stands in Taiwan. Price is worth the taste and how much effort they put in for creativity and insist on using quality ingredients for their food. The owner was trained in Chengdu for 8 years. So, do not forget to also try their Szechuan flavored items! Yum yum

They also closed around 2pm this particular Saturday and that didn't coincide with the store hours. We did try the veg rice roll, curry pastry, egg omelette, mushroom/pork bun, and green onion pancake. There's a self serve sauce bar with chili oil, vinegar, etc. the food is authentic but nothing to write home about. I would like to return and try the mochi sometime

I was disappointed when we first got there because it was only 3 o'clock and they said that they were already out of the purple sticky rice for the item.I wanted to buy... They said they had it in white rice, so I thought, well, since we're already here, let's try it. The girl on TikTok said she wished she would've added an egg, but because we had a language barrier. I couldn't explain to her.I wanted a Fried egg,( I wanted it Wet) she gave me a hard boiled egg and it was an extra $2.50... I was pretty disappointed in this Salted white rice roll. Everything seemed old and soggy it was wrapped in plastic wrap, wasn't hot...and it was supposed to have a Chinese fried donut inside with a very crisp bite to it. It wasn't...it was soggy and flat...very chewy...And also The rice on the outside was not crispy/crunchy at all... Nothing really tasted fresh.... And that soy milk drink, everyone has their own preferences and tastes, but I did not like that soy drink at all... It tasted like wet hay/grass... And it was $4.95... she did ask me if I wanted it hot or cold....So I guess they serve a hot version, My son Bobby said that he liked the taste of it, but I noticed after the first couple of sips, he didn't drink anymore, I asked him did ne want it,he didn't...so i ended up throwing it away.... I also bought an order of the soup dumpling, And I was very disappointed in that because the dough that was around it was too thin, and when you picked it up it ripped, so you didn't get a soup dumpling. You just got a small piece of meat inside the dough. Because all of the juice dumped out when it ripped. Not a single one of them was lifted out onto the spoon, and the meat inside was a very small piece.I should've taken a picture of it , but I was just done with it... for $25.00 +tip I WONT BE BACK. I think i'm going to try the,'Yi Mei" in Monterey Park... I heard there's also one in San Gabriel. I hope I could find purple rice roll and all of its crispiness like that girl in the video , because this place was nothing like that!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND. ALSO I TOOK PICTURES ... of the little cakes and snacks that they had for sale on a counter. We didn't buy or try any of them.FYI

The lady at the cashier was so sweet and friendly. She patiently introduced me to their menu and food, made recommendations. I'm very pleased by her customer service. This one was good and the only thing I would come back for. They had various stuff dumplings. The pork dumplings were a little bland. The beef dumplings were good but were not out of this world. They use store bought skin, probably to cut labor and cost, but honestly there are better options around the area. This is a casual spot. The service was limited. We had to ask for things more than once. They do have a self service sauce station for your dumplings sauces.

Staff are really nice and on top of it. A clean establishment and this Yelper definitely gives it 2 thumbs up.   Tips: Indoor seating only. Accepts credit card. Restroom available for customers. Ask for the sweet chili oil. That's the best, that they keep in a cold fridge. Made fresh and is a great addition to your dishes. Every dish was packed with rich, comforting flavors and that authentic traditional homemade feeling that is so hard to find nowadays. The beef noodle soup was absolutely AMAZING -- the broth was deep, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice and aroma. The beef was unbelievably tender, juicy, and practically melted in the mouth. One of the best beef noodle soups I've had in a very long time. The signature cold dishes were also outstanding -- packed with flavor, perfectly marinated, and incredibly addictive. You can truly taste the care and quality in every bite. What shocked us even more was the price -- very affordable, yet the quality and flavors honestly felt Michelin-star level. It's rare to find a place that delivers this level of authentic Taiwanese comfort food at such a reasonable price. Their servers are super nice , warm and bring you with family feeling ! Honestly, every dish we ordered was so yummy and beautifully prepared. This restaurant feels like a hidden gem with Michelin-level flavors and presentation. Definitely coming back again and highly recommended for anyone craving authentic food!
