My wife loves all sorts of noodles, and we rarely get Chinese style noodles especially Shaanxi. We saw this place had Shaanxi noodles so we decided to give it a try. I came here for dinner with my wife. It's a small hole-in-the-wall style restaurant but fairly clean. The staff are super nice and answered all of our questions. The water was self serve. I got the noodle mix with sauce with knife cut noodles, and my wife got lamb organ noodle soup with hand pulled noodles. The food came fairly quickly. I tried a bit of my wife's noodle soup. The soup was very good, and had a rich aroma and taste. Loved it. I also enjoyed my own dish, which I've had at other Shaanxi noodle restaurants in the area before. The flavors of meat and tomato egg and cucumber blend together nicely.

Came for lunch and this plaza gets packed on a weekend. It took us a while to find parking. At the restaurant, you seat yourself. They have water cups for you get get yourself as well. Service was quick and the staff was friendly. We tried several dishes: - Knife Cut Noodles with Beef ($12.99): decent portion with a few pieces of beef. The noodles were chewy and flavorful. The beef was kind of hard to chew but not too bad. There are also some pieces of onions and green peppers. (5/5) - Rougamo Pork ($5.99): like a crispy sandwich with seasoned pulled pork inside. It's cut into two pieces. (4/5) - Shanxi Stir Fried Pork ($12.99): pork was tender and seasoned well. Came with some vegetables like black fungus and onions. It would've tasted even better with some rice. (4/5) Definitely recommend for an affordable meal with good portions. You get the food fast and you're in and out pretty quickly.

The beef noodle soup tastes sooo good. Noodles were yummy, soup was flavorful, and beef had a good proportion of meat vs fat. Also got pork dumplings, which I devoured. Came with a group of 13. Food came out at different times but came out quickly for the most part. Staff was pretty nice and accommodating with us.

I came here plenty of times, all their dishes are delicious especially the fried noodles (very chewy and not too salty). The roujiamo (hamburger) has a thicker bread than other places but I actually like it this way so I dont get overwhelmed by the meat. Sadly, they rarely have the pig's feet though and hotpot must be ordered ahead of time. The service is fast and friendly. I never have to wait for a long time and water is self-serve. There are plenty of tables and it can get crowded weekend nights. But everything is great!

This place deserves 5 stars for sure. Every dish we've ordered has been interesting and so good. Everything is made from scratch. The owner and chef make us new dishes to try every time we come here. My faves as would have to be the liang pi and surprisingly the cabbage (order this!). Service is pretty slow only because they can get very busy but I've noticed they hired more staff. Also, there's a language barrier if you talk to the owner and chef but google translate helps a lot. Highly recommend!

Youmian Kaolaolao: oat noodles with dipping sauce
    Edward S.

Noodle Palace serves a variety of Shanxi dishes such as hand pulled and knife cut noodles, sliced meat and vegetable appetizers, pancakes, and dumplings. I was here for the Youmian Kaolaolao, an item that is not on their menu, which they will make for you if you ask. The Youmian Kaolaolao arrives in a bamboo steamer basket. They are oat noodles that are rolled into short cylindrical tubes and arranged in a honeycomb configuration. You pull off one noodle at a time and dip them in a separate bowl of sauce. The noodles have an oatmeal aroma with a chewiness almost like a crepe pancake in texture. The hollow space catches the sauce, so don't overdo it on the dipping. Otherwise, it can get too salty. The sauce is a mixture of savory minced pork, pork belly tidbits, eggs, tomatoes, and garlic. They also brought out a complimentary dish of pickled cabbages. They are cold, crunchy, salty, and tangy, with Sichuan peppercorns. It's a nice palate cleanser. Dining Area: It's a cozy spot with plenty of tables. Parking: There is a large lot with easy to find spaces.

We ordered togo dumplings, beef noodle soup, and Liang pi ($34.47). Get home and discover that there is no beef. We call up the restaurant and they admit that they forgot to put the beef in. They first ask if I can come back and pick it up, (40 min round trip with parking) except it's 7 pm now and I have to feed my toddler. We ask them to deliver us the missing item and we get call back 5 minutes later and they tell us they can't deliver, but will offer us double beef on the next trip?! We kindly refuse and ask for a refund for just the soup. Instead of refunding the full amount of the dish, they only give us the amount a side order of beef would be?! I guess I should have expected cheap service from a cheap restaurant.

5/5 food experience. Everything was so authentic, homey, melty, and delicious. You can tell that every dish is made with intention and care. The family running this spot clearly has long-standing recipes that have been passed down the family line. Recipes that can now be relished by hungry folks like us. So make sure that you come hungry because there's so many amazing dishes to try at Noodle Palace! The service is swift and the prices are excellent. Our party of four left with full stomachs, and big smiles.

A family-owned noodle and dumpling gem. The owners are friendly. Service is as expected for a Chinese restaurant, so don't come here expecting fantastic service and frequent check-ins to see how you are doing. Napkins, chopsticks and spoons are at each table - self-serve style. They have quite a variety of items for a noodle & dumpling place. Apparently, they have items that are not on the menu (ie. Kao lao lao), which I have not yet tried. It's supposed to be noodle made with oatmeal flour, so it's healthier, then steamed and served with a side of dipping sauce. I will definitely have to this next time. They have vegetarian appetizers (cucumber with hot sour sauce, dried bean curd, shredded potato, seaweed with spicy sauce in a self-serve bar area in the back). I typically love getting these vegetarian appetizers, but did not this time because I thought $8.50 for a small plate of appetizers was too much. Had I known it was a self-serve, all-you-can-eat salad bar, I would've ordered it. Will also try this next time. Price is also very reasonable. For all 6 items below, our total came out to be $74ish. 1. Special Thick Pancake (4/5) Very unique pancake that I have never seen anywhere else. The concept of it is similar to those well-known Chinese "Silver Thread Man tou/Steamed buns." However, the flavor is more similar to that of Fried Ramen Noodle snacks. Very unique and well-worth the try 2. Homemade Tofu (5/5) Each tofu slice was packed with savory sauce and some notes of subtle spice. Pairs well with rice. 3. Potato Shredded with Hot Pepper (5/5) They gave a generous portion of this. Very flavorful - vinegary with aromatic spices, but not spicy. The potato was fresh and had a good crunch to it 4. Cat ear noodle (Beef) (4.5/5) One of my favorite types of noodle dishes. Don't let the name fool you -- you are not actually eating a cat's ear. It's just noodle/dough made into the shape of a curled cat ear. The dough is chewy and when coated with sauce, it's addicting. The beef was super tender. 5. Pork Dill Dumpling (3.5/5) The dough of the dumpling was too thick in my opinion, but the filling inside was good. The pork was not stinky and the dill flavor was very strong. Paired with their home-made garlic-vinegar-soy sauce, it takes it up a notch. They do sell frozen dumplings that you can purchase to cook yourself at home. ($30 for a pack of 50 dumplings) - reasonably priced 6. Shan Xi Stir-Fried Pork (4/5) Cooked with woodear mushrooms and stir-fried with vinegar and soy sauce mix. I couldn't tell it was pork... thought it was chicken. Good on its own or with rice Will be back & highly recommend this place to others.

Lamb dumplings and pork and leek dumplings

My girlfriend and I wanted to try a new place to eat, specifically Asian noodles. We found this place via yelp and decided to give it a try. The inside is clean and very welcoming. Our server didn't speak very much English but was able to use her phone to translate our questions. Wow! The food was amazing. A lot of the reviews said to try the stir fry cabbage and we did. It was the first dish to arrive and delicious! Next our lamb and pork/leek dumplings came. I enjoyed both but have had dumplings else where I prefer more. We also got the house special fried noodles, hand-pulling long noodle with beef. The flavors were delicious. They really mean hand pulling long when it comes to their noodles. That provided an extra amount of effort while eating but the experience was fun. We also got the lamb organ noodle soup again with the hand pulling long noodle. Soup and long noodles....again that required some effort but tasty. I've had lamb noodles from another place a prefer more but overall really good. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. I would recommend and come here again!

Tucked at the very end of a strip mall between 2 popular strip malls, this is the definition of a hidden gem. Our Mandarin was rusty, but thankfully my friend and I teamed up (she did most of the work) for our order. Here's what we got: - ROUGAMO BEEF: They asked if we were ok with pickled mustard veggies and a bit of spice inside -- both of which elevated and distinguished the taste from other beef/pork rougamo we've had elsewhere. The bun is not the same as special thick pancake, but rather thinner. - PORK & LEEK DUMPLING: Juicy, stuffed pork and fragrant leek wrapped in a slippery skin. This only gets better with their homemade dipping sauce with vinegar, garlic, soy sauce, sugar, scallions and of course some chili. The sauce was full of umami and makes me drool just thinking about it! - SPECIAL THICK PANCAKE: It is similar to the textured mantou bun that we had in our childhoods, and sometimes fried and dipped in condensed milk in HK places. I liked the crispy and soft noodle-like bits and paired it with the chili oil at our table. The sweet lady working there asked if we wanted soup to pair it with, which is what they usually do. - CAT EAR NOODLE W/ PIG INTESTINE: Again, drooling here. My friend and I love pig intestines and there was a sauteed dish, but we also loved noodles! The lady was able to custom order our dish and it was so well-worth it! The pig intestines were cooked perfectly with a little bit of funk and paired well with the very slippery and chewy cat ear noodles. The peppers on the plate weren't hot, but they had a bit of chili. The sauce has a savory soy taste, but relies on the garlic and wok heat to really make this special. Definitely give this place a try! There were many online/phone orders so you have no excuse!

My soup didn't arrive until 15 minutes after that, and the Dau Cha Quay? We had to ask four times before it finally showed up -- by which point we were nearly done eating. As for the food itself, my Hu Tieu Thap Cam was a disappointment. A large bowl that was mostly noodles, with just two shrimp, a single slice of liver, barely a teaspoon of ground beef, and a few thin slivers of chicken. The veggie toppings were just as sparse. For what's supposed to be a hearty noodle soup, it felt like a bowl of afterthoughts. I hate writing reviews like this because I genuinely used to love this place. But the combination of slow, uncoordinated service and underwhelming portions makes it hard to recommend.

The pork sandwich bun was decent (4/5) since the beef was tasty but the sandwich bun could be better. We also had the traditional beef noodle soups with either the wide flat and triangle ones. You can't go wrong with these freshly made pulled noodles, and they are very hearty portions. Flavor is good and the beef is very tender. The smashed cucumbers were decent also (4/5), but nothing spectacular about them. Service is very quick, attentive and pleasant. This is a good go to spot for a quick meal. The dining room doesn't seat a lot of people so try not to come during busy dining hours on weekends to avoid a long wait.

Hidden Gem in Alhambra - Finally Tried It After 4 Years of Driving By!…read more I've lived in Alhambra for the last 4 years and drove past this place almost every day, always assuming it was just another hot pot spot. It never looked super busy, so I kept putting it off. Big mistake--don't let that happen to you like it did to me! We finally went in and ordered a bunch: the Spicy Beef Shank Rice Noodle, Rattan Pepper Sliced Beef Rice Noodle, Popcorn Chicken, Sesame Balls, Popping Brown Sugar Rice Cake, Fried Milk Rolls, and Fried Taro Balls. Everything was outstanding. The noodles were amazing--fresh, chewy, with high-quality ingredients you can really taste in every bite. The broths had that perfect spicy kick without being overwhelming, and the beef was super tender. My wife and I couldn't stop eating; literally everything we tried was delicious. She especially loved the Fried Taro Balls--they were crispy outside, soft and flavorful inside. The sides/snacks were all hits too: the Popcorn Chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy, the Sesame Balls and Popping Brown Sugar Rice Cake brought great texture and sweetness, and the Fried Milk Rolls were a fun surprise. Service was top-notch--shoutout to Icey, who took such great care of us. One of the best and most attentive experiences we've had in a while. If you're in Alhambra and love good food, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't go wrong here--highly recommend! 5 stars all the way.

One of my favorite noodle spot in SGV area…read more My go to dish would be tomato sliced beef rice noodles- the tomato soup base is the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The portion rice is very generous, I can never finish and would end up taking leftovers. Parking: they have a lot next to the restaurant, I never had an issue with finding a spot. The only downside is they don't have their AC on during the summer. I remember one time I was sweating while eating and it was very uncomfortable.
