I was in the neighborhood with my dog. So I found this dog-friendly restaurant on Yelp. I like how spacious the covered patio area is. It has a direct access to the patio from the parking lot. The service and food are pretty good. The waitress brought extra jar of water for my dog and some bread. I had the Santa Barbara Egg Benedict with a side salad. They were delicious. The latte is a bit sweeter than what I like. But it's not bad. read more

Absolutely a great place for breakfast. It has indoor and outside dining. Healthy options, good portion size, with friendly service. The staff is very welcoming and constantly checking in on you. This location is also pet friendly which is a huge plus. If you decide to try this place make sure to reserve a table because there will be a long line, however, if you don't mind waiting it's worth the wait. I used Yelp to reserve a seat and it worked out great. It's a breakfast place so waiting is a given. read more

Pumpkin pancake is one big pancake. I added two sides for plus $5, scrambled eggs and country potatoes. Everything was more than perfect except one thing, How they dont have maple syrup though???... . These eggs taste like some quality chicken period menstrual cycle, i swear to you. the simple french toast was bomb too, nice and moist inside. I try not to do the manmade stuff, powered sugar, whipped butter, whip cream, etc. Place is located in a complex connected to other stores on the end. Outdoor seating is pretty comfy. I favored the pumpkin pancake over the french toast, & i love french toast!. You just got to come and see for yourself. They got a lot of fives, so i rate a 4.9 bc of the no maple syrup. This place isn't what it used to be. It's very unorganized and understaffed. We made reservations on yelp Turns out they weren't suppose to be open. We wrote our name down we waited 40 mins. They sat us to only have us wait 20mins for water. Took our order and took an hour to bring our drinks. We are currently still waiting over an hour to get our actual meal. This is just inexcusable. I feel for the staff but this is ridiculous! This all falls on the owner / management here. Hire more staff or don't take the people you can't serve . read more

Another breakfast joint down, with a unique and different twist. My husband found it on Yelp and had bookmarked it, but due to the cost of some of the items, we kind of waited. Looking for something new to try for breakfast, we went ahead and gave it a shot. We over estimated the time arrival, and ended up arriving fifteen minutes early. We decided to sit outside on the bench about five minutes before it opened on a very hot day, and started to melt outside even as early as before 8:00am. At about 8:02 they said a few more minutes, but then decided to let us inside where we picked a seat. I really enjoyed the look of the restaurant. It was a bright, unique feel. I started out by ordering a blueberry lemonade, due to a mention of it off one of the pictures on Yelp. Turns out, there is no such thing as a blueberry lemonade, and there never was here. Fool me once, shame on you. Thanks yelper. They do however, have a variety of other lemonades. I decided on a rose lemonade. They did not have rose lemonade at this time. Looks like my luck was going well. I ended up with an iced jasmine green tea. My husband went with an iced white tea after being unsure of the uniqueness of the black tea flavor options. They bring it out and let it steep in front of you, where you pour it into a pitcher of ice and then your glass. I like the uniqueness of that. I wish I saw the lavender and rose latte options but it was too late. Perhaps next time. Some of the pricing is a bit steep. There are sweet and savory options and different items, but I was focused on trying out the toast. The sweet options were tempting, but I waited. I went with the balsamic toast which consisted of avocado spread, mozzarella, tomatoes, and balsamic vinaigrette. I chose the toast a la carte on squaw. Otherwise, you can get toast with eggs and o'briens, one toast or two. My husband went with the el ranchero toast with the one toast option and scrambled eggs and o'briens. I thought the eggs always came on the side but all of his were on top of the toast. Service was okay. A lot of young friendly workers. Service was good for the most part. The place was pretty much full by the time we left. A little pricey for what you could get, but I would come back and try more options. Yes, I can also make a lot of these items myself for much cheaper, but I may not feel like it and things never turn out as well when I do them. Oh well, my problem, right? read more

Toast is definitely a fun brunch place to eat in the Whittier area. As their name implies, Toast's specialties are mainly their open faced sandwiches, but they do offer other typical options one would expect from a brunch place. But for a guy who eats peanut butter sandwiches everyday for breakfast, a nice open faced sandwich is a welcome change! There are several options in how you can enjoy their toast creations: two toast meal (includes 2 eggs as you like) $$$, one toast meal (includes 2 eggs as you like) $, and two toast without the eggs $$. I have tried the smoked salmon ceviche and the cucumber ceviche. What I really loved is that they use avocado to provide the creamy layer instead of cream cheese which provides a nice earthy contrast to balance. I was worried that the cucumber would not be too filling but they flavored the cucumbers with acidity and provided a good amount. To pair with their wide selection of breakfast fare, they have a pretty extensive drinks list including coffees and juices. While I have only ordered the coffee, I have been tempted to order some of their other drinks because they actually sound really tasty like their watermelon lemonade. In terms of parking, there is plenty out in front of the store. The customer service was friendly and very attentive. Wasn't the best I've ever had. Have been wanting to try this place for some time but there's usually a long wait. On Saturday, checked Yelp and there was no wait time...perfect, let's go. Get there and the parking lot is packed to the point where cars are double parked, still don't know the reason why since some of the other businesses in the same plaza appeared to be closed. No biggie, there's still no wait so we walked right in and were seated on the patio. Server comes over fairly quickly to take our orders and the food comes out fast. Oops my toast for my bacon avocado toast is burnt and I don't like the taste of burnt toast so I send it back. My friend's omelet looked good but the cheese wasn't melted, not sure if they don't use real cheese or what. Did love the idea of adding jalapeños to the breakfast potatoes, gave it a nice spicy kick. Anyway my bacon avocado toast finally comes back but the toppings are missing, what happened to the bacon (which was one of the main ingredients) and the red onions. Again, no biggie, I let the food runner know and he brings me a plate of bacon, which was delicious. The avocado toast was just ok, too much lemon/lime on the avocado to the point where it overpowered the entire meal. I've eaten here a few times over the past few months and each time the food is exceptional. I've tried at least half of their menu at this point and they don't disappoint. I haven't ordered a single dish that I didn't like! Their pancakes are ginormous and the taste is amazing, especially the chocolate velvet pancake. The chimmy steak toast is flavorful, and their strawberry cheescake french toast is a great dish to share with my friends when we eat here. Lastly, my favorite part of their menu: the benedicts. No matter which benedict I order, I know it won't disappoint. The egg is always cooked just the way I like and the hollandaise sauce is amazing. I've had benedicts from a lot of breakfast places and the ones from Toast are definitely in my top three. In addition to the main dishes, the sides that come with them are pretty good also. I definitely recommend the country potatoes, especially with the benedicts because they taste great when dipped in the hollandaise sauce. I definitely recommend this place. The line might seem intimidating as you are walking in but I can assure you the hash brown chips will be worth the wait! The chilaquiles are authentic and well portioned. Not to mention they offer just egg for anyone with a diet preference. I started scrolling thru their pictures and menu and thought me and my friend would check it out. I ordered the Filet Miñon Benedict with potatoes and my friend ordered Bacon Avocado Benedict . My steak was cold and so were the potatoes. I ordered orange juice and latte and it was ok. For the reviews it has, I was very disappointed . For 3 meals I paid $102.00. So it wasn't my first time dining there so I was excited to go. I'm on my way driving from 35 mins away so I checked in on Yelp just because I've done that before it seemed to work. BUT NOT TODAY! That wasn't the case. They don't know how to manage both Yelp and in person check ins because when I was first up in Yelp it was when I arrived on time but still had to wait another 25 mins. We get seated and the waiter brings us water that honesty tastes disgusting. Not even sure how you can make water taste bad but the accomplished doing so. We didn't have a choice to sit outside or inside. It was inside. There is no more social distancing they literally are so packed in there that the waiters kept bumping into my chair even dropped a water cup and spilled water on me along with broken glass next to me. We placed our food order and it took between 20-30 mins to receive. It was good but it wasn't great. Saw that the manager or owner whoever she was was walking around the joint without a mask. She was also very rude to the customers and employees. So there needs to be some adjustments there. I'm assuming the workers are over worked. They definitely deserve a better leader cus from the beginning to end it wasn't a pleasant experience like it used to be. Just like the name Toast is serving breakfast food and mainly toast with different toppings on top of a crisp toasted slice of bread. It seems pretty boring but the toast has so many different and unique toppings. I ordered The Cali style which has avocado spreader all over the toast and chopped up mini tomatoes. Also ordered an eggs Benedict with sauce on the side. Overall the portion side was very large so large that we had a lot of leftovers. This is pretty much simple and easy item and the taste pretty much what I would say is California style. The menu is pretty confusing to me but thy do tell you if you haven't been here how to order your food. There are a lot of options on how to order which I kind of didn't understand the first time the server said them. Also waiting was pretty long and never got a refill on my cup of coffee. I'm going to break my review in two sections: FOOD: the food here at toast is SO GOOD! Everything that was going out looked great and everything my table ordered was delicious! I was pleased with the variety of options. My whole table ended up getting different varieties of their Benedict and every single on of them was great! I even got to order a side of avocado toast; Which was great and their slices of bread are massive!! Well at least the squaw bread is hehehehe I would totally come back if I could get my food to go. SERVICE: I was pretty bummed at the service I was given here. I honestly could not tell you who my server. There was 3 different people helping us and I get like I was being ignored but I understood it was busy. Our waters were being refilled but it took forever to just talk to a server. I ended up having to get up and find a server/worker to get my check which was a big mistake. He didn't know who I was or what table I came from and he ended up charging me for the wrong table and had to refund and charge me again. He was really nice about it but he kinda blamed for the mistake which was off putting. Met up with a friend here for a late Sunday brunch. We made use of the Yelp waitlist function which allows you to join the waitlist within 10 miles. We checked in and were seated in about 5 minutes. I ordered the smoked salmon cucumber on marbled rye with a side of scrambled eggs ($14.99), and my friend got the house eggs benedict with bacon and country potato as sides ($14.99+ $2 for adding a second side). The smoked salmon cucumber toast was refreshing and delicious. The smoked salmon paired with the chopped cucumber salad was a nice match. The marbled rye came nicely toasted and surprisingly maintained an enjoyable chewy texture underneath all that was piled on top. My friend enjoyed his house eggs benedict with the perfect runny poached eggs and licked his plate clean. Honestly I was hesitant to spend more than $10 on avocado toast, but Toast's good flavors and generous portion well justify it and make me want to come back! Seemed weird to me that there was such a long wait even though there were plenty of tables available. The food was okay. My boyfriend and I each got different toasts. I got the salmon and he got the ranchero. They were both okay, but nothing amazing. Its just your average breakfast place with a cute name.
