Toast Review I'm giving 1 star strictly for the lack of cleanliness. At this point in my review I haven't received my food, but upon entering the restaurant at 7:05...5 minutes after they've opened the floors were dirty and so were the seats. When were taken to our first table there was hair and food all over the seats so we asked for a different table which had the same results so we asked our server to wipe them down. In times like this CLEANLINESS should be the first priority! If you can't keep things that customers can see presentable, what does the food storage and kitchen look like. On another note, the staff looked like they were scrambling to finish with prep work. If you're the business owner or manager and you're reading this, you have to do better, be more involved and find some people that care enough to keep this place in tip top shape, this is a sure shot way to lose a lot of customers. After receiving my food it looked great, tasted great but it wasn't hot, Luke warm at best. This is the SECOND time I've been here and each time I've received lukewarm/cold food. The line cooks either need to figure out how to time the food down or find a way to actually keep the food hot while it's waiting to be brought out to the table. It's pretty disappointing to say the least. This restaurant has A LOT of potential and some great items on the menu but they don't know how to deliver. read more

I went for my birthday lunch this afternoon, and I was really excited because it looked like a super cute restaurant. We were seated at the bar? Even though they were multiple open tables, but okay. We ordered two avocado toasts, pretty simple, and we waited about an hour before I started getting upset because servers and management were simply standing around talking to each other, not serving or talking to guests, including my group who hadn't gotten anything yet except for some drinks from the bartenders (who actually had great service). The manager made some excuse that the ticket got lost and took half off. I gave three stars for the bartender service, decent food, and the apology discount of half-off the meal. read more

Very cute! Loved the atmosphere and probably would go back. Don't recommend the iced mocha but could be preference. Wide Mamosa variety!

This was our first time here. On the surface, cute place. Decor is great. But our experience was less than subpar. We sat for 20 minutes before even our drink order was taken. Food took almost an hour and my chicken fried steak was served cold. Cold gravy was gross. The breakfast shot sat at the bar for 15 min and was served warm. Warm OJ is disgusting. I will never be back. Save your money. read more

Food portions were so large it's a good idea to split. Love the energy and atmosphere in the place. Very busy at 12 on a Sunday afternoon. Bar needs a better choice of liquor for the brunch crowd. The cinnamon roll board was a disappointment due to being so dried out we couldn't eat them. I will give the place a second chance because the main meal was so good. read more

Wow, Great Food, Fantastic service with Joseph. Wide selection of food. 3 adults 2 kids (age 7). I ordered "The Veggie" and it was delicious and more than enough. Lots of veggies and the potatoes were seasoned nicely. I also ordered "Loaded Breakfast Tots". Joseph told me that the veggie was enough and that the Tots were also more than enough. He was right, but thankfully I ordered the tots to share. Everyone, even the kids loved them. I forgot what my wife and daughter got but they said when we stop by again in Tucson we have to stop there for breakfast or lunch again. The kids got their French Toast creations and they are creations that not only look great but also taste great. They allowed me a bite of their "S'Mores" french toast since I shared some of those wonderful Tots. It was very tasty. Joseph was a fantastic waiter, he gave us time to look over the menu, was very good with the kids. He truly explained the different menu choices when my wife and daughter were not sure what to order. Best of all we are heavy coffee and water drinkers and he always came around to check up to see if we needed more. To sum up, GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE! We are in Phx but drive to Tucson and are very happy this place opened up. I wish the picture I took of the S'Mores french toast was from a better camera. It really was artistic but most of all was delicious to me and my grandaughters. read more

Toast 101 - S'Mores French Toast Creation - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

When we entered, the first thing I noticed was that the floors were sticky, and looked filthy. The same went for the booster chair and highchair they brought us. The waitress came and asked us for what we wanted to drink. We let her know, and then watched her socialize with her coworkers for the next 10 minutes until she finally brought us our coffee. We ordered the donut board, and when it came out to us, the donuts were insanely greasy and tasted like they were burnt. The sausage patties were also very greasy and cold. I had the sunrise avocado toast. Everything on it was cold and the avocado spread was brown. The pancakes were mediocre, definitely not light and fluffy. The eggs were also very rubbery. I will definitely not be returning. read more

We so want to like this place. The food is good, and the ambiance is cute but there's always an issue when we go. They really need a manager in there to keep the place functioning. It usually takes 15 minutes to have someone acknowledge us when we walk in the front door-and that person usually has an attitude. Just to give yesterday as an example-our drinks were sitting at the bar for 15 minutes before we finally asked for someone to bring them over. The bathroom was flooded. Our kids food didn't show up until after we were done with ours... After giving this place so many tries, we've decided it's more frustrating than it's worth. If the owner is reading this-please get a manager and a host. read more

Went in recently after a hot day and was pleasantly impressed with the fun and refreshing decor. Faux greenery is lined on the ceiling making a fun and refreshing take from our typical southwestern theme places. Of course, the nice cool AC is also a big plus! Hostess greeted us immediately and stated it would be a 5 min wait while she got us a clean table, it was nice to see they were still implementing a COVID - social distance rule. So, safe establishment. We had a moment to run to the bathroom to wash our hands and was impressed with the cleanliness, not super fond of the sink - seems like there is allot of splatter, but give them effort for trying. Table seems to be the old Korean BBQ tables they just vamped up the top part, so the bottom makes it a bit uncomfortable to sit since you have little to no leg room. However, since I'm pretty short that didn't bother me too much. Service was friendly and prompt. Refreshments including water was refilled diligently. We decided to partake in a "pickle theme Bloody Mary" and it was pickly delicious!!! I decided on the Chicken & Waffle ( nice brunch staple ) with the bubbly waffle. Yup, you heard me. Bubbly!! Makes for a fun new texture in the common waffle game, however they do offer Belgian Waffle for those that like the good classic comfort! The chicken was a bit spicy which I absolutely dig!! And was nicely sliced, so easy to dine and enjoy. The waffle itself was okay, not amazing, but good enough. My husband enjoyed his breakfast sandwich and was too busy inhaling it to have much of a conversation -so, needless to say he quite enjoyed it! The few cons that make this review a 4 star... -Food is a bit salty. Like, everything is salty.... entree, drink, and sides. Makes you constantly chugging down some water while you eat. I would recommend to try and order something fruity and fresh to help balance everything out, but that was my main complaint. It's not that the meal was inedible, just more salty than average. -Price was above average . 2 adults came out to roughly, $40 for 2 entrees & 1 alcoholic beverage. I understand that seems to be the ongoing trend, recently in Tucson, but that's why most business usually fails... once the hype is gone, people tend to avoid the steeper price gauge. -Location is also less than favorable, but giving them the leeway since they are connected to a large parking area in Sprouts shopping center. - Bank statement shows 7ounce Steakhouse. Which, I get it's from the previous establishment, but they should really fix that technical error so people don't get confused - especially if your new in town. I would recommend this place to family and friends, but with the restrictions that I mentioned above. I did see that they had a separate room to "reserve private parties " which, I'm a big fan of. read more

The service is horrifically slow, the place feels dirty, the condiments on the table...salt, ketchup, etc...are empty, the iced tea is rancid fountain tea, not brewed, the place is dumpy, like eating breakfast at a bad Goodwill.the food is awful, snotty looking eggs, rubbery bacon, home fries that had been deep fried, and toast that hadnt been toasted. Today was my third, and final, visit to Toast 101. The bad far outweighs the good, they are over-priced, and service is absolutely terrible. They need a serious intervention....like a close down, re-train staff, update/simplify the menu, change the layout sort of intervention. Today, I paid $10 for a cold scrambled egg, 2 slices of cold half cooked bacon, and potatoes cooked in the deep fryer. I can go to several mom/pop breakfast places in Tucson, pay about $7 and get a fresh, hot, and delicious breakfast. The music was very loud, so loud that it was not background music and made conversation difficult. Add to that, being seated by their open concept kitchen where they were playing completely different music, I left with a headache .... literally. The front patio/enclosed 'porch' has been allowed to decline. All the plants are dead and the tables are in disorder. Even if it's not in use, it's visible when you enter and stand at the host stand, and does not set a very good example. Clean it up, remove all the dead plants, or close it off so it can't be seen. ......and the service....as mentioned above, there needs to be an across the board retraining of staff. I never received the water I asked for twice, was not offered a coffee refill, no one checked in after food was delivered, and we had to ask for the check. Layer on top of that no smiles and no eye contact, it felt as though we were intruding on their day. Toast 101 has a pretty good concept, but it's apparent the owners/managers are unable to execute effectively on that concept. I predict that by the end of this year the restaurant will either undergo major changes or they will just close their doors. read more

Horrible. Do not waste your money. I went a few months back for breakfast during the week. Very unorganized, server didn't know what was or wasn't on the menu and the food was forgettable and overpriced. Fast forward to today.... I figured "give 'em a second chance" and that's where I made my mistake. I walk in around 10:00 AM for breakfast. A young man is kinda'/sorta' standing around the host/hostess stand with his back to the door. I politely wait a few moments when he turns around and says "can I help you?". Not "welcome to Toast 101" or "good morning" or "how many for breakfast"...... just, "can I help you?". Fine. I said "one for breakfast" and he proceeds to take me to the bar. He didn't ask if I wanted to sit at the bar, like every other restaurant does. He walked me right to the bar and sat a menu down. There was plenty of other seating options throughout the place, so I'm not understanding this procedure. Regardless, he was preparing to walk away when I asked If I could sit somewhere other than at the bar? He says, and I'm quoting here, "whatchu want den"? Yeah, exactly. I could tell this was going to end up exactly, if not worse than, my last trip here. I said "no problem, forget it", did a 180 and left. I didn't get pissy or say anything nor did I leave slamming the door behind me. I just left. My suggestion is: If you like to be spoken to by some bratty, thug millennial, as if you were one of his "homies" then this is the place for you. If not, try one of the many other places in Tucson that have professionals working there that also WANT your business. read more

Super casual, super chill vibes. Came in looking like I just woke up on a Monday afternoon and was greeted with a smile and seated immediately. It was so much food! Denny's food with Prep and Pastry prices. It's like IHOP quality food disguised as a foodie or hipster place. Honestly not worth the wait or the price. Coffee was not good. The food was cold. If you order the chilaquiles, they aren't what we're used to in Tucson but in the worst way possible. It's shredded pork with eggs and tortilla strips sprinkled on them, like if Taco Bell made a chilaquiles dish. Service was mediocre. Felt bad for our server. I could forgive a place (even after having two bad experiences here)but the reason I'm leaving a review is because... During breakfast we could hear the cooks making sexual remarks about some of the guests, and coming out of the back to go and check out a group of young girls seated near us. While we were leaving, they start blasting some music and singing "I love bad bi***s that's my f***ing problem, and yeah I love to f**k I've got a f***ing problem"... you can't make the stuff up. I get it bro, but this is a restaurant, not a strip bar. You creeped out my wife and 16 year old daughter. read more

Writing this review as I am waiting for my food. ITS BEEN AN HOUR. We also did not get our drinks refreshed once. My husband got one cup of coffee and we only had one glass of water for the almost 2 hours that we were there. When we finally got our food WE went to the register (where our server had been the entire time) to pay and another server told us that we would pay at the table and that our server would be there shortly....guess what? Our server never came so we literally went back there and paid at the register! Our server was still doing who knows what there. Like come on! Send someone to check on your table or something but for almost two hours? Leave your table waiting??? We were shook! Worst service we've ever had! Not to be cliché... but if I could give 0 stars I would only because of how the manager/owner handled an issue they created. Reservations made for 13 for 11am show up and 1st impression - "sorry table not ready, party at table we were going to reserve for you has not left". 30 minutes later they sat half of our party and left the rest to stand. Constantly reminded by wait staff that us standing are in the way and constantly having us shift in an overcrowded restaurant. The manager/owner offered to take our drink order (am I confused or does that not come with being sat at a table- or is she offering first round on the house for all the inconvenience). However only tool drink orders for those sitting. Those of us standing finally were able to order our drinks at noon when we were able to finally sit. Fast forward... mimosa flights ordered showed up warm...water had an aftertaste... coffee came without cream and sugar... out of condiments such as hot sauce and ranch... table bussers clearing tables while breaking multiple glasses... and yet we shrugged it all off. Then the bill came and nothing special - every item ordered charged... we ask our waiter if the first round of drinks were being comped due to the issues we had with our reservation and he went to the manager/owner to ask. Ask they spoke about our table- which they made obvious with the rude gesture of pointing she sent back our waiter to relay her managerial decision of "no - they (us at the table) had misunderstood". We then proceeded by requesting to speak with the manager instead of "he said/she said" going back and forth. This is where it made our experience go to to zero stars! The manager came to our table not to rectify a situation but to justify and help us understand how we misunderstood. We attempted to explain to her that there were multiple issues beyond the "misunderstanding" and allowed her multiple opportunities to fix our bad experience. Unfortunately her reply was " I can only offer $5 off one check". Based on principle, I declined the offer and gave another opportunity for the manager to add light to our bad experience and she once again declined and preferred to stick to her original offer over our returning business. There is no need for the manager to reply as we gave multiple opportunities in person to rectify and she declined to do so. As I, declined there $5 discount, I save more not returning there ever again. read more

Terrible food. Low quality junk food type foods. Tasted like frozen food. Eggs not cooked well or correctly. Almost raw yolks. Slow, slow, slow and incomplete service. They were not busy at all. Got seated immediately but getting to us was extremely slow. Food coming uncooked, forgotten items, straws, etc. also very slow. Will never go back. I went to brunch at Toast Sunday Oct 6 2024 the server of 25 years was great to start, Myself and my guest both ordered the Mimosa Flight, we received our drinks however they were flat we then informed the server, she replied we have been going thru them all day let me see what the manager has to say, she then came back to our table and said that when the flights were made a new bottle was opened and that she could take them away from us but would have to leave them on the bill... We found that interesting seeing that we never asked to have them taken off the bill we came there specifically to have a drink, she then informed us she was just the message delivery person and it was Not here decision. It's restaurant 101 if a customer has a problem with the food or drink the Manager should come to the table themselves and correct the situation by offering something else or we All know how much a bottle of Prosecco cost just open a New one re pour! To say that you have been going thru them all day or that you opened a new one when you made our drinks does Not meant it wasn't Flat when you poured or opened the new bottle supposedly. What should have been an easy fix ruined our brunch experience and made us feel unheard and the management Really did not care At All! Drove ALL THE WAY FROM PHX to try this place and man we should of just gone to IHOP or Dennys. Or just stayed home. Arrival: We were told there was a 30/35 min wait. Okay, cool we will wait. We waited over 35 minutes to be seated, as we were getting seated we were told the kitchen staff was behind on orders so it would be a longer than usual wait. to get our food. Whyyyyyyyyy couldn't we be told this BEFORE waiting to be seated?! We sat down, we quickly ordered or food to avoid the long wait. Which we thought would help. .. WRONG We waited over 45 minutes AFTER ordering our food. I finally had the waiter get an update on our order. He told us they still had to fulfill other orders so it would be longer to where he'd have to put in on a To-go box. WHAT THE HELLLL!?!? At that point we decided to leave. Hell with the order and the wait. So no, can't tell you what anything tasted like because we didn't get to eat. For future reference if anyone still wants to give this place a go, HERE IS SOME ADVICE. Eat breakfast elsewhere, then come here and you'll be in time to be served lunch by the time they get to you. I reviewed all these Yelp reviews before entering mine. All I see is the owner apologizing to everyone and hoping to gain their business back, but by the looks of many recent reviews, not sure if the owner cares enough to actually correct the real issues. Looks like nothings changing. I feel bad for the waiters working here. Someone with prior experience running a place, this one sure lacks staff and a caring owner who can run this place and stay on top of it. It's a beautiful place inside and nice decor to lack attention from whoever runs it. read more

Highly recommend! We were reluctant to try because of the Yelp score... but people are haters - this was a great experience! We enjoyed Tiffany mimosas, a bacon board, avocado sunrise toast and Nutella French toast. Portions are HUGE. Everything was over the top on presentation... and very delicious. This is unlike other brunch experiences in town, flavors are different and decadent. Go with someone who is willing to share so you can try the sweet and savory items. Very bright and clean place. Hit the brunch crowd around Noon, so we decided to place a to go order. Staff was very friendly and attentive. This was just not good at all start to finish. We tried to give this place a chance because of being new in a pandemic, but it failed in almost all areas. The server was mediocre at best, she took a while to take our order, bring our drinks and she kept dropping stuff off of the table, including a full entree. Maybe she was having a bad day, but it was uncomfortable. We ordered bloody Mary's and mimosas to start, it took 15 minutes to get the drinks. The fruit on the mimosa was brown. The dill Bloody Mary was so salty and flavorless at the same time it was impossible to take more than 3 sips. The food came out at different times, our server said she accidentally pushed send before she finished putting in the order. Everything was sloppy to look at and the hangover hash was greasy and flavorless. There were 4 of us at the table and not one of us thought the food had any flavor and no one liked the drinks. We wanted to give this new place a shot, and the table collectively wished we had gone somewhere else. read more

I was trying to give a new locally owned place some business hit not very impressed.. Excellent food but our server was slacking. Asked for things and never got them. Ordered coffee asked if wanted flavored creamer or half in half said vanilla but got half in half. Coffee came with no way to stir it. Asked for a knife 10mins later still waiting for a knife. Apparently you don't get silverware here. My mom tried to ask an option as she was trying to decide between 2 items wait said guess you don't know what you want I'll come back and walked away. My mimosa flight took forever to arrive and when I asked what the Caribbean flavor was the guy said it's tropical. I figured it was tropical hit there are many tropical fruits so that wasn't helpful. I loved my skillet, hangover and my mom enjoyed the breakfast burger. However slow service really effects your dining experience and right now with covid dining out is a real treat and this just kinda dampened my experience. Hope this guy was just having a bad day and is better to other customers. I'd recommend here to localsbut probably not to those here for a short time incase the service quality isn'tjust a one off. Silverware is kinda necessary to enjoy food but at least they gave me a fork with my entree. Ordered the unlimited coffee but if your server never refills it not sure how good of an offer that is. Also apparently you must specify which coffee you want. My mom order coffee and they charged 3.50 not 2.50. I was confused and asked, guess they have 2 coffees a regular pot (2.50) and a yellow brick road (3.50) if you do not specify they charge you for the more expensive coffee. As an edit our waiter saw I was writing a review and asked for feedback. This actually made my experience more enjoyable as he really seemed to want to better the service and gave some insight into his day. After this interaction I'd definitely come back, he is a really nice guy. I have recommended this place to 2 of my friends in Tucson. read more

Very disappointed in the food, wait, and service. We arrived and put our name on the list. Nadia was the hostess and she asked for our phone number so she could call us if we were going to Wait outside. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait. We sat outside and waited. After about 15 min we went inside and waited another 15 minutes. I noticed a party that came in after us was seated before us. I asked Nadia how much longer and she informed me that "somehow your name was crossed off the list". We were finally seated. Our waitress, Casey, was very nice and friendly. We waited over 45 minutes for our food. The food was very disappointing. The bubble waffle was dry (we ask for a side of strawberries and whip cream to go on the waffle). We each had omelets. The jalapeño bacon was good, but that was it: I had a side of corn beef hash and it tasted like tuna. I had high hopes for this brunch spot, but I was very disappointed. The decor is nice, but the service and food was not good. Our server said that she informed the manager of our complaints, however, no manager ever came to our table to speak with us read more

All of the other reviews nailed it. The food was amazing, however, they could do better with their sausage selection. The sausage patties are eerily similar to the floppy Great Value frozen patties, very processed and not very meat-like. But who is going to Toast 101 for the sausage? Not this lady. We ordered the New Yorker french toast and let me tell you, I was blown away. The sheer size of it was breathtaking, but even better, the taste matched. The French toast alone made the experience worth it. Now, let me tell you about the experience. The wait on a Sunday "Brunchtime" morning was to be expected. We waited 45 minutes for a table for 2, so please prepare yourself. Especially because Toast 101 seems to be a place where people like to linger. My qualms began when they called us to let us know they had a table. When I put our names on the list, I had specifically requested outdoor seating, however, when we were taken to the table, it was indoors and had no social distancing. The restaurant was packed. Every table was filled and given the varying levels of vaccination, I could only assume was present, this overcrowdedness was definitely anxiety provoking. The server appeared to be distracted by other "going ons" around our table instead of taking our order, which probably explained why our order was entered incorrectly. It took another 45 min for the food to arrive and when it did, we were presented with the Fruity Pebbles French Toast. I must say, they were beautiful as well, but not what we had developed the craving for. The food runner offered to just take the toast or take the whole board back. Not remembering if we were actually able to decide, he opted to remove the whole board and leave us with a plate of fried potatoes only. Having waited for 1.5 hours at this point we started munching on the potatoes. 12 minutes later......our toast arrives. From that point it was music to our stomachs. So fellow foodie beware, take snacks, eat a light meal prior if you can, because it WILL take time....but oh is the toast worth it!! Happy Eating!!! read more

Opening weekend for this mid town breakfast/lunch establishment. Modernish interior that features bright colors. Industrial type ceiling, so it can get a bit noisy inside. Lots of friendly staff available for anything you need. Our food came out quickly and was properly cooked and hot. The staff were all wearing masks, however, quite of few of their noses were frequently uncovered; and the layout of the seating (booth and counter) makes proper social distancing almost impossible during busy periods. For example, we were seated on the Eastside of the main dining floor. This area features three rows of three booths each. While they do have the middle row closed off, they seat tables back to back with no plastic partitions in between. Counter space appeared to be completely unregulated. So, it's a one star rating due to covid precaution issues. We'd be willing to come back if theses issues are resolved. read more

Ordered an avocado toast with scrambled eggs and bacon and it was very good. They serve you so much food that you could feed two people with one dish. The avocado toast and bacon with cream cheese and greens was very tasty. Service is excellent and the order was ready in little time. Menu pricing is reasonable with the quality of the food and service. If you are looking for a good place to eat breakfast in Tucson you will appreciate Toast 101. read more
