So given that these are times where business is short staffed and struggling through things, I don't believe it's right to be so very harsh with reviews at all. I was in town for a week and Toast 101 was suggested. I made it in on a Friday , and the place is very pleasant to look at inside. Quite a photogenic interior. Lots of seating, and we were in the front. Our waitress (Liz) was a gem. Definitely was very accommodating. I had The Hangover (a hash dish) and it was outstanding. Very good chorizo in the dish. My friend ordered the Brisket burger, but the meat was not seasoned and the burger itself was underwhelming and dependent on sauce. We both shared the Crunch 101 French toast and it was amazing. Food portions were so large it's a good idea to split. Love the energy and atmosphere in the place. Very busy at 12 on a Sunday afternoon. Bar needs a better choice of liquor for the brunch crowd. Walking in, it looks like the restaurant is NOT handicap friendly. All the large tables (that we saw right when we walked in) are NOT handicap friendly. My cousin and I are both handicapped. There is a banquet that has a 3' step to it, and 3'-4' bar stools across from it. All were full with 6+ people in the parties. Long unpleasant story short, we left. Waited over half an hour, with a hostess (who does not have a warm pleasantness to her, at all) told us that "Our tables are for 4 people" (we were 6). Her comment felt politely condescending. After overlooking it, we waited a little longer and then left. No table or service was in sight for us. So much for trying to support local. read more

The food here is great. The service is always quick and friendly. The only complaint we ever have is having to fight the college crowd when U of A has the residents back in town. Summer and school breaks mean no wait which is great for us locals. I only wish they had grits on the menu as it's not easy to find in the southwest. Really wanted to like this place! The theme and atmosphere is on point but it didn't pair well with the staff. It didn't seem like our server wanted to greet us. Quick to take our order and not much suggestions or knowledge on the menu. Although they did seem understaffed it could be an off day. The food presentation for the s'mores dish was amazing! The s'mores was great but way to sweet for me and was short lived. After three bites I was out for the count. Other sweet lovers out there may love it! The flavors mixed well but the graham cracker was a bit stale. The country fried chicken with gravy was pretty tasty! The gravy mixed well with the chicken and was well done. Unfortunately the eggs were not eaten, they were cooked well but either very oily or wet with some sort of liquid. On a side note there was a busser working at the time I went which made the experience a little more promising. He was working fast and was the most welcoming part to my experience. We were in town to visit family. We as a family traditionally go to Sunday Brunch, this time we chose Toast 101. We were so excited based on the pictures on their sight. Everything looked amazing. We were so disappointed in this place! First ... We got here at 11:30 on a Sunday. We called ahead to make reservations yet we were told they do not take reservations. When we checked in we were told to sit in our car and wait to be called. FYI .. This is Tucson and we are experiencing the summer Monsoons, outdoor temperature was high 90's almost 100 degrees. Sitting in the car to wait is not an option. I'm sorry but that is a ridiculous request especially since it took longer than 30 minutes to be seated! My sister is disabled so we decided to wait inside to stay cool. There were many guest (sitting & standing) outside waiting. There is only one long bench to sit on outside while waiting and it was full. There is no waiting area inside. There is more area outside that is unused which could be utilized for more seating while we wait. Second ... There were plenty of empty tables and booths that were available throughout the restaurant. Not sure of the reasoning they were not seating the patrons that were waiting. We finally were shown to a booth. We were lead to the high booths with 2 chairs. Mind you, my sister is disabled. We were happy to get seated that we didn't want to complain about being seated in the high booth. My sister managed to get seated in the booth. The step up was about 2 feet up. Fortunately the table was secured that it didn't tip over as she used the table to brace herself. Third ... it was fairly busy. It took a while before we were given a menu. Our waiter was very polite and helpful. More patrons filled the restaurant. Watching the different groups of 3, 4 up to 14 people get seated was something to do while we waited for our order. We sat right in front of the kitchen so we could see how hard the cooks were working. Then we noticed several tables that got seated after us got their orders before us. Even a large party that got seated way after us was getting their order. This was now upsetting. We asked for the manager. She came over and apologized. I have worked in service my whole work career. One thing you are taught in management is to never make excuses, you accommodate the customer. We were told the system had a cliché due to the storm the day before. We were also told that larger parties get prepared first. That is not good business practice. I was always taught "FIFO" ... "first in first out". Forth ... We were a party of four. Eventually after the tables around us got served we finally started getting our orders brought to us. Three of our plates came. The forth one came 10 minutes after the others were served. We ordered, Avocado Sunrise, Maple Pecan pancakes, Brisket Burger and finally Eggs Benedict. The manager said the Eggs Benedict were late because the initial ones broke so they had to remake them. When I broke into the eggs they were a soft boiled egg. Finally ... Everything looked amazing, the young staff were nice, unfortunately our food was disappointing. Two of the four of us were happy while the other two were unhappy with our meals. We finally left after three hours and needless to say we won't be back!!! The service was also very disappointing. Their apology discount was no charge on our coffee, tea and water. The best way I can explain this place is that it has a lot of moving parts that seem to not move together. Ok ya'll, I decided to take one for the team :) played hookie from work and went to Toast 101!! Where to start.. Fresh OJ, perfect. Basic coffee, you would have thought It was something premium. Avocado Sunrise.. beyond yummy Banana Foster.. Maple rum and candied bananas says it all New Yorker French Toast... A twist on cheesecake I will dream about . Loaded Breakfast tots... Chicken Carnitas with scramble eggs, was such a pleasant incredible twist!! SERVICE - Elizabeth and Neil... Elizabeth was so helpful, funny and extremely attentive. Neil (first day on the job) was right on que, paid close attention to us, our drinks and even our 17 month old who had not been in a public restaurant since he was born. We sat at the window that looked into the kitchen, and our very curious toddler loved to waive at all the staff, who waved back (over and over). Some restaurants do not do so well on opening... Toast 101 truly knows what they are doing. Great set-up (lots of thought went into this). Inviting atmosphere and excellent food. GO TRY IT!! and guys, go on a weekday if you can, restaurants for breakfast are slammed on the weekends and that is no reason for a bad review :) busy is business. Luckily, this restaurant is close to my home. I liked the vibe as soon as I walked in. It's decorated nicely and they play great music. They offer a creative menu with tons of options for food and drinks. I enjoyed the Hangover Skillet. I've eaten from it twice and still have some left. My son scarfed down his waffle and shared some of my meal. He also ordered a strawberry soda; it was delish! Service was wonderful, from the hostesses to the servers. I'm writing this solely because I was blown away by the type of service we received and the ambiance. Mind you I myself am a server and work at a very busy Brunch spot, so when it comes to understanding and leniency of certain things I am your person to have at one of your tables. Upon arrival we waited at the door/host stand for a solid 10 minutes. The same female server passed us 3 times before acknowledging us and letting us know she'd be with us in a moment. At this point I already wanted to leave but was staying hopeful. She guided us to the first table near the front door, I asked her very nicely to move us to a different table since it was very much at the entrance and she angrily grabbed the menus back from the table making it obvious that I was an inconvenience for her. Which I felt was very unfair considering we waited 10 minutes just to be seated, by the way the restaurant was NOT busy whatsoever. Upon being seated a different male server finally made his way to us. I got one water during the entire meal. No refills. Our order was put in and the server went to the bar area and put since headphones in and danced around the bar while our food sat on the window for nearly 10 minutes. By the time it got to us it was close to cold. I was honestly really surprise by the immaturity of their servers and honestly couldn't believe it coming from the customer service industry myself. Would I come back, honestly not at all. And I know that may not matter since I am only one person but at least I can let others know what they are getting themselves into. I went to brunch at Toast Sunday Oct 6 2024 the server of 25 years was great to start, Myself and my guest both ordered the Mimosa Flight, we received our drinks however they were flat we then informed the server, she replied we have been going thru them all day let me see what the manager has to say, she then came back to our table and said that when the flights were made a new bottle was opened and that she could take them away from us but would have to leave them on the bill... We found that interesting seeing that we never asked to have them taken off the bill we came there specifically to have a drink, she then informed us she was just the message delivery person and it was Not here decision. It's restaurant 101 if a customer has a problem with the food or drink the Manager should come to the table themselves and correct the situation by offering something else or we All know how much a bottle of Prosecco cost just open a New one re pour! To say that you have been going thru them all day or that you opened a new one when you made our drinks does Not meant it wasn't Flat when you poured or opened the new bottle supposedly. What should have been an easy fix ruined our brunch experience and made us feel unheard and the management Really did not care At All! We arrived and were told 20-30 minutes and they would call us. After 40 minutes and watching people who arrived after us get in, we decided to leave. Listen up Public: If you're looking for a place that serves food with dirty dishes this is the place. Toast 101 is the absolute perfect place that will keep you guessing and wondering if they even wash their dishes. This is how it went. The first cup of coffee was served on a cracked and chipped cup with stains. The server walked up and commented herself and apologized and replaced the cup, only after she caught me staring at the chipped and cracked mug. The second cup of coffee was delivered with a full set of red lipstick stain on it, server then again apologized and was kind to replace immediately. Sever then replaces again, "third time is a charm" as she delivers the third cup and was super apologetic. As I am finishing my cup of coffee she asked to refill which is perfect! As she grabs the cup to refill it we noticed at the bottom something floating. A wrapper from a straw sits floating at the bottom. PUBLIC: Do not waste your time and take your money to a place where they have a little bit more pride of their establishment. Listen up Business: if you don't have the time to properly wash your cups and care for the cleanliness of your dishes just keep your doors closed. Did I enjoy my breakfast absolutely not, not an ounce of my breakfast was enjoyable. Who knows if my breakfast was served on a clean plate. Who knows if you're cooking with clean utensils, and for management not to even show face and cover or comp any of my food. Well this shows how much they care. Every Sunday morning there is a huge line outside of this overpriced mediocre breakfast joint. Many of the patrons are so lazy and inconsiderate of others as t.o park their cars in the fire lane, despite there being ample parking in this strip mall, maybe 20 feet further away. The management of this place has been informed of this ongoing problem by myself, by the mall security guard, and by the fire department, yet they have not even posted a sign at their entrance asking their customer to not block the fire lane. read more

We so want to like this place. The food is good, and the ambiance is cute but there's always an issue when we go. They really need a manager in there to keep the place functioning. It usually takes 15 minutes to have someone acknowledge us when we walk in the front door-and that person usually has an attitude. Just to give yesterday as an example-our drinks were sitting at the bar for 15 minutes before we finally asked for someone to bring them over. The bathroom was flooded. Our kids food didn't show up until after we were done with ours... After giving this place so many tries, we've decided it's more frustrating than it's worth. He didn't ask if I wanted to sit at the bar, like every other restaurant does. He walked me right to the bar and sat a menu down. There was plenty of other seating options throughout the place, so I'm not understanding this procedure. Regardless, he was preparing to walk away when I asked If I could sit somewhere other than at the bar? He says, and I'm quoting here, "whatchu want den"? Yeah, exactly. I could tell this was going to end up exactly, if not worse than, my last trip here. I said "no problem, forget it", did a 180 and left. I didn't get pissy or say anything nor did I leave slamming the door behind me. I just left. My suggestion is: If you like to be spoken to by some bratty, thug millennial, as if you were one of his "homies" then this is the place for you. She told us the wait time was 10 minutes to be seated and proceeded to seat 3 other parties prior to us. Once seated no one tended to our table for over 15 minutes. In which a waitress brought us water and told us someone else would be assisting. We waited another 15 minutes before seeing a waiter who assisted everyone one else around us. We decided to walk out as there was no sense of urgency or customer service. We came as a group of six and they forgot one of my friends meals and it took another 30 minutes for her food to come in.
