I wanted to like this place a lot but the service is a bit lackluster. The food is decent and portions are large. My pancake was a bit undercooked. This place has a lot of potential if they can tighten up their service game.
I will always enjoy dining here. It's simple menu items yet so fun to eat. Our waiter was great he was attentive. It's always a good vibe in there. Food delicious as always.
I was really excited to try Toast 101 with some friends for breakfast on Saturday morning (we got there around 9), and overall it was a good experience with a few minor hiccups. I originally wanted to order the donut flight, but they were out of donuts, which was a bit of a bummer especially on an early Saturday morning. I pivoted to the cinnamon roll board instead. The cinnamon rolls were amazing! The orange zest garnish instantly took me back to being a kid and loving those orange cinnamon rolls from the can, except these were next level and beautifully presented. The ooey gooey frosting topping was generously applies and so yummy! I also ordered the French Toast Flight and it was awesomely delish! I chose the New Yorker, the Nutella Overload, and the Banana Foster. The cheesecake on the New Yorker was chef's kiss. The Nutella Overload had the best granola garnish that added such a great texture. The Banana Foster with the maple rum butter spread and caramel drizzle was top tier. Everything came out on a really cool board that made it perfect for sharing so everyone at the table could try a little of each. I was especially impressed with the quality of the fruit. The strawberries were plump, juicy, and sweet, and the bananas were perfectly ripe and not mushy at all. The kitchen timing was a bit off, the rest of the table got their food but my board didn't come out until well after, so that could be improved on. Also a quick side note that I tried the biscuits off of a friends dish and they were really good. It was interesting because they're actually grilled or toasted on the grill and it made for a really tasty crunch. I was a little skeptical at first because of the size, but don't let that fool you and try them because they were tasty. The gravy was also pretty good not my absolute favorite, but it did the trick and the biscuits really made it shine. The interior has a cool vibe. I loved the faux green walls and the modern (and sometimes cheeky) decor. We were able to get a table right away because we went early, but the place filled up quickly and it's easy to see why. The food really is good. The exterior is a bit funky, peeling paint and faded signage and could use a bit of work. Service was so-so, our server was trying to be one of those funny/snarky personalities except it caused him to miss a lot of what we were saying...so lots of repeating and having to ask twice for things. He had accidentally entered and served an incorrect dish on one of the tickets at our table, and said he would remove it, but it was still on the bill when it came out. I appreciate personalities, but just a focus on the basics of service would have honestly made it a better experience. Overall, a decent experience with great food and just a couple issues. I would definitely go back, and next time I'm hoping to finally try that donut flight :)
Great service. They only have deep fried potatoes. No other options. No hash browns. No pan fried potatoes. Ugh. The over easy eggs came out ice cold. Like out of the fridge cold. They made another batch. One medium the other easy. But warm to hot. Corned beef hash was not crispy on the outside. Kind of soft and runny. Maybe because there were more potatoes than corned beef. Lacked flavor. The country fried steak was delicious. Gravy good. Biscuit. Pretty good. Pretty expensive for what we received.
I came here last Saturday with some family and order the Carnitas skillet, which was amazing!! my husband got the country fried chicken and he liked that as well. Someone else at our table got the chorizo skillet which they did not prefer. I tasted it and it wasn't bad, but I felt they could have added some peppers, some egg, etc.... My skillet next to that one was so much more evolved and delicious. Our server had great energy and was fun, I can't remember his name though. The only disappointment came from the bacon Board trio, and which one of the bacon flavor seemed to be charred to oblivion. I almost didn't even seem like meat. I thought about sending it back but others at the table felt they could still eat it so I let it go. But if you look at the picture of this bacon compared to the last time I ordered it, you will see the very vast difference.
Dropped into Toast 101 for brunch on a whim. We had a 20 minute wait, but the waiting area inside was nice and the 20 minutes flew by. The "Good-enough-to-go-back-for": Bloody Mary flight (Bloody Pickle for the win!); Irish Iced Coffee; French Toast with Cinnamon syrup; our booth. The "Skipping-that-on-our-next-visit": Chicken & Waffles. Loved our booth and will request it again if it's available. A note: Most people with gluten/wheat sensitivity/allergy might instinctively stay away from a place caleed "Toast 101." Even our server said something to that effect. There are very few gluten/wheat-free options. Even the potatoes have wheat. So keep in mind that the options may be limited to basically eggs, bacon and fruit.
First I'd like to say my husband has been wanting to come here for such a long time and I was always undecided about it. Well.... We will 100% be back soon. We were greeted right away and shown to our seats. They have different areas which is nice because our first booth was too cold for me. Our server was on point and always made sure our drinks were filled. The food came out fast and everything was delicious, hot and fresh! The seasoned country potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My waffle was tasty with their house syrup. You can't go wrong at Toast 101.
The service was great here! The tater tot's with my BLT were so crispy and delicious. The New York cheesecake French toast is very sweet so you have to have a sweet tooth for these. I myself have a big sweet tooth so I did enjoy these. My boyfriend really enjoyed the hangover skillet and the charred jalapeño was a nice touch. The place overall looks a little dated and run down in my opinion but overall good food and good service.

We ordered the Corned Beef Hash, expecting something similar to the photo on the menu. Unfortunately, what we received looked and tasted exactly like canned corned beef hash. The presentation and texture were nothing like the restaurant's photo. When we mentioned this to our server, she initially said that maybe the recipe had changed. We explained that the dish didn't resemble the menu picture and seemed like canned food. She then said she would ask the chef, and later came back saying the chef told her it was "homemade." However, it really looked and tasted like the canned version. The most disappointing part was that we were not allowed to return the dish or have it removed from the bill, even though it clearly wasn't what we expected from a restaurant plate. On a positive note, the New Yorker French Toast we ordered was actually very good. However, the overall experience was frustrating. On top of everything, a processing fee was added to our bill, which made the situation even more disappointing. Ordering a restaurant dish and receiving something that seems like canned food, with no option to return it and additional fees added to the bill, left us with a very poor impression.
We decided to give Toast 101 a try last Sunday and were surprised how busy they were. We were after a simple breakfast but most of their items were their "specialty" dishes. We chose the 101 Stack which featured pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries. Our waitress, Da, accommodated my request for heated syrup (wish it was real maple) and provided an ample glass full. This dish really needed the syrup. We would taste rate the pancakes average for Tucson and filling given their ample size. Da was superlative in keeping our coffees full at all times and the coffee was a decent quality. She made the visit enjoyable. The ambiance was better than we expected from the outside view but the interior was somewhat crowded.
I'd never been before. We arrived 30mins before closing and initially took a little bit more time than I'm used to waiting. Nonetheless our server came over and because we knew it was so close to closing we were ready with our drink and food orders. Our food was brought out within 10-15 mins of ordering. The plating as seen in my photos was amazing and added to the overall experience. The overall taste was even better! We had the New Yorker, Nutella, and Crunch toast needless to say there were no survivors. Same with the bacon board! All in very decently priced too. Was definitely great food, great experience and oddly very different look and appeal from the inside out vs the outside in. Can't wait to go back!
Great place for brunch. The restaurant itself is modern and open, they have lots of seating and booths (which I love). Their menu is huge, and they serve both breakfast and lunch options all day. Plus they have many brunch drinks, next time I want to try their pickle Bloody Mary and Cinnamon Toast Crunch shot. I had the veggie skillet with bacon, and my boyfriend got their cook try skillet. Both fantastic! Only thing is their wasn't much gravy on his skillet, but you can easily ask for a side! We will be back!
We visited here on Sunday March 21st ---the place has been opened about a month now. Our wait was about 40 minutes, but we had already been warned that there may be a wait. We grabbed some menus and browsed them as we waited. Upon being seated the waiter greeted us right away. It was myself ,my friend and my teenage son. The waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable on the food as well as a great sense of humor as he joked with my teen. The food was amazing to see as it was carried out to the different tables--the portions were HUGE! We each got something different so we could try each others. If you have a sweet tooth--this place will quick become your favorite place! The owners of the establishment are none other than Tucsons' very own Kalvin Jarvis and his girlfriend. I did have a moment to talk with him as it was busy-but he took the time and was so friendly. For sure will be making the drive back "into town" to eat here again! Almost skipped due to 3 1/2 Stars. Glad we did not, not sure what happened to everybody else, but we loved it. Little bit of wait, not too bad, and starting with Hostess to our Server the service was great. The food was unique, and we both loved our choices. The first time I came here I was stunned by the amazing decor and vibe of the place. Beyond that their prices were much more affordable than I imagined due to how much people were raving about this place. The service was amazing and since I went on my birthday they gave me a free mimosa which was super nice! Their greek avocado will be my go to from now on it's a combination of all my favorite foods and you have to have a side of their maple bacon as well. We really wanted to like them! The wait was 45 minutes (no online reservation mechanism) which I understand. They are brand new and still feeling things out but the wait didn't end there. Once we were seated, our waitress was pulled in so many directions and we waited for water and couldn't get her when we needed something. They were out of the matcha latte and hash brown waffles, which we understood. They don't know their inventory needs yet. I ordered the cinnamon roll waffles, potatoes, bacon and I split the mimosa flight. My friends ordered the Chilaquiles & the Hangover Skillet. The cinnamon waffles were hard but decent, the potatoes were FIRE, probably some of the best breakfast potatoes I have ever had, the bacon was basic and the mimosa flight wasn't good. We couldn't tell the difference between flavors, they were super small and I couldn't tell there was champagne in them. Tucson has enough places offering flights with full bottles of champagne and bottomless mimosas. When the food arrived, they mixed up the chilaquiles with the skillet and my friend doesn't eat pork so she was worried. Because the skillet had a jalapeño, we knew to ask for clarification. The chilaquiles also didn't have full tortilla chips, they were strips and that also gave into the confusion. When the check came, I gave the waitress $10 and my card. I assumed she'd run the money first and put the difference on the card but instead, she took the $10 for a tip. Great place for Breakfast in Tucson. Would definitely recommend for a friend or family of 4 or less. There is indoor/outdoor/bar/high booths/low booth seating. The decor is so pretty. The staff was awesome today. Sailor was our server and he did a great job. Food presentation was exquisite and I see the effort. The Tequila Sunrise and the Manmosa was delicious. The eggs were cheesy and great with the bacon. They probably have the best bacon I've had at any breakfast spot. I had the New Yorker Toast. I am a fan of cream cheese and strawberries so it was perfect for me. The portion sizes were great. The food came out timely. For 2 drinks & 2 meals the total was $40+ which is not bad at all. read more

My mom and I came to Toast 101 on a Thursday. We were given two seating choices: the high tops right in front and a smaller booth in the back left. We went with the booth, but later I would see if you walk deeper into the restaurant they have two adorable seating areas with plants and fun paint colors, which I wish I would've been shown at first. I really loved the decor once we walked through, it has a really fun atmosphere. Our food came out quickly and the service was good. I got the veggie skillet and the eggs were cooked perfectly! My mom got the Crunch 101 which was also delicious: everything you know and love about French toast but make it crunchy! The bacon trio board included classic, jalapeño and maple bacon. I was impressed by the jalapeño flavored pieces, but the maple bacon seemed like just your average bacon with maple syrup put on top after cooking and the classic was as good as bacon you'd make at home. When I get a bacon flight, I'm expecting unique flavors and great cuts of meat. The bacon was good, but could've been better. We both had Yellow Brick Coffee and enjoyed it thoroughly. I ordered the super bowl to go to bring home to my partner. I would've preferred to order her a skillet but there were no plant based egg alternatives, so I went with the super bowl. The food here is a rather disappointing. For a place that is called Toast 101, I thought that their bread/toast would be amazing, but it was honestly mediocre. I ordered the sunrise toast, which was an avocado toast with bacon, sprouts, roasted tomatoes, and poached eggs. Even with so many things, there was not much flavor and it was lacking... I also did not like the mix of temperatures of all the ingredients, the tomatoes were very cold while the rest of the ingredients were room temperature or warm. I also ordered their matcha latte, which had more milk to matcha ratio diluting the matcha flavor. With so many other great brunch places in Tucson, I don't think I would recommend coming here. read more

I had a very poor experience here. I was very excited about this place and have been wanting to go for a while. My parents went early to put our name down and after waiting an hour and a half they said we will be seated in about 20 mins, only to be seated another hour later. We waited for almost three hours and after being seated we waiting 30 minutes for our waiter to take our order. The inside floors were dirty. The menu looks incredible however the food was not very good. I ordered eggs Benedict- one egg was popped by the time I got it and there was NO Hollandaise sauce!! (The best part!!) also all of our food was cold. It took so long to get the food but my guess is it was just sitting out because our food was cold when we got it. The french toast was good, but the other two we ordered didn't have much flavor. read more
Well I can see why this is a three star place, the service is lacking but they're trying! Couldn't tell you what our waiters name was because he never mentioned it but he was definitely stretched thin. He gave me water with hair in the cup and it took me about ten min to get his attention to get another cup. The menu is all over the place, most items seemed ala carte and swapping things isn't an option. I opted for the Breakfast of Champs: breakfast potatoes, eggs, your choice of meat, toast, biscuits and gravy or a pancake... My scrambled eggs were cold, my bacon was pretty crunchy and the pancakes could've used a lil more moisture. Needless to say I wasn't impressed. read more

Found on TikTok and it lived up to the hype. The service was very good, our server recommended a chai latte and it was to die for. Our food was done quickly and it was pretty reasonably priced for everything we got. Not pictured was a breakfast quesadilla and OMG it was yummy! I highly recommend this place for brunch! Everything was so good and the atmosphere is quite trendy (very instagram friendly ;)) Our server was super friendly and accomodating. Inventive menu with lots of options. Our server was friendly and mostly attentive. We were seated right next to the main server station/computers by the kitchen window. Unfortunately, that meant we could hear all the server gossip. Nothing too offensive, but they did complain about some diners/tables. Had us wondering if they'd be talking smack about us when we left. Our breakfast was good. Filling portions. Favorites were the banana pudding French toast and chilaquiles. The chicken and waffle was rather sad in comparison. The mimosa flight is a fun and interesting twist on brunch drinks. read more

Gluten free options?
I never asked if there are gluten free bread replacement options but there are some delicious meal options, bowls, skillets, etc that are gluten free. I had a sweet potato skillet that was delicious.
Is there call ahead seating?
I think you can call ahead because the hostess told us there were some tables that were reserved.
