We were served complimentary fried wild Alaskan cod, then proceeded to order a cup of their New England clam chowder which tasted fresh, but was on the spicy side. I ordered a shrimp po'boy, which was simple but tasted delicious! Very filling too. I suggest you request to have it cut in half. Ended our "linner" on a sweet note, with their house made key lime pie. We both ordered cold lobster rolls- the bread was fresh, however the lobster needed more seasoning, and it was a small amount of lobster for the price. Have had much better lobster rolls in the past, which was disappointing (especially because so many of the reviews of the restaurant were positive). Also ordered the hush puppies- which had NO seasoning on them. For the 2 rolls and the hush puppies my order was close to $75- way overpriced for what the food was. read more

Tin fish is one of the very few restaurants that I personally know makes food with real fresh caught fish. So fresh that they actually bring the whole fish to your table before they cook it and they weigh it. I am so serious. With the head , tail and everything. This is another gem found through yelp and I'm a fan. It's a small restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating in a plaza located with New York mart and beside Doris Italian bakery. Plenty of free parking because it's in a plaza. They offer many variety of fishes to choose from, from snapper to grouper to swordfish and etc. If you order a whole fish, they price it by ounce. They bring out the whole fish to you to show you and ask how you want it cooked-fried or grilled. Then if you want it topped with Asian sauce or Mediterranean. FYI the sauce is extra and the whole fish dish doesn't come with any sides. My group ordered oysters, fish and chips Alaskan cod, whole fried red snapper and whole fried hog fish both topped with Asian sauce, Phil's world's best fish dip and sweet potato fries. Both of the whole fish were good- to which my co workers devoured. The whole fish was each served on a massive serving plate then the sauce was poured on it. My co worker finished and loved her oysters. If I recall I think it was 8 pieces more or less. My Alaskan cod was a bit disappointing because it was a bit bland but the fish itself had a nice texture. The sweet potato fries were topped with cinnamon sugar. It was real tasty. The smoked fish dip was pretty good but I wouldn't say world best good. The service here is great. The servers were attentive, fast and enthusiastic. Attire is definitely very casual. On weekends they have one man acoustic guitar live music going on. It's nice. Welp my first visit had me wishing I gave this place a shot sooner. Truly a neighborhood gem! We were welcomed in by the owner and immediately seated by the hostess. It was 6pm on a Friday evening and there were a few other parties seated but it seemed slow inside. I guess we made it just in time to beat the dinner rush because it picked up a lot by the time we left. I always see this place packed whenever I pass by this plaza at night! The inside is decorated like a typical seafood restaurant, you would think you were right by the beach! There was a gentleman playing the piano in the back and the live music gave a nice ambiance to the place. Our waiter was wonderful in recommending crowd favorites for us first timers. We decided to go with the open fire grilled oysters and tuna poke to start. Our food came out quick. Oysters were delicious and the tuna poke was huge and enough to split happily between three people. It could've been a whole meal for just one person! It seemed like it was baked pita served with it and it was so warm and fresh and made a thick enough chip to heavily scoop the mountain of tuna/avo served. I decided to go with a lobster roll which I thoroughly enjoyed and the coleslaw was a refreshing side, not coated with mayo and dense like you would get at other places. This place came recommended to us by multiple people. So we tried it out and it lived up to its reputation. As an appetizer we had the conch fritters and Kaboom Shrimp. Both were very tasty. For our main course we did a Whole Yellow Tail snapper fried, 2.5 lbs, topped with a medium order of the Asian Pan Sauce. Been here a few times, reviewing first time. The review is based on this particular visit. We got there at about 9pm. Got promptly seated and got a drink orders quickly. My wife got up to use the restroom but the place was filthy, clogged and unusable. She did tell the waitress, don't know if they did anything about it. We ordered spicy calamari, raw oysters, mixed seafood grill blackened and for my son from children's menu we got poppy shrimp. Spicy Calamari was awesome, very flavorful with a little kick. Oysters were super fresh and delicious. Grilled fish was done to perfection. I usually never get fish grilled, but this made me a believer. I the roasted vegetables that come along with mixed seafood were really good as well. My son's popcorn shrimp was the only thing I thought tasted like it came from Walmart. For the food I would rate the place 4 stars, for cleanliness I maybe a 2, service was really good. In the past I have had multiple 4+ experiences. This is an amazing gem hidden in a strip mall. You Florida residence are extremely luck to have this in your neighborhood. So I stop by here to get some quality seafood and let me tell you I was NOT disappointed. First off got a couple of oysters in a half shell garnished to perfection by the chef behind the bar. My order of the conch chowder and clam chowder came out and it was really tasty. But sadly I ordered it to try it. Realistically it's just too hot for soups. Lol Had a small order of hush puppies. Really good. Not overly fried where all you get is the greasy taste of the oil. Then my order. The mixed grilled fish. Holy cow. Lightly season fish grill to perfection. Order came with Mahi, Tilapia, and salmon. If you were to ask which was my favorite I could not tell you. They were all excellent. Accompanying the fish was fresh tartar sauce and a vinegar based Cole slaw which both complimented the fish very well. G/f had a fried fish taco which was a healthy severing of food for $7.95. Let me be clear......Tin Fish is probably one of the best placaes for fresh seafood....period and end of story! Food is amazing. Get there early because you will be waiting in a long line for a table. The food is so fresh, nothing in my opinion is from frozen other then the crinkled fries and even those are great with the seasoning they sprinkle on it. I truly just love the gator bites and the fried calamari......freshly battered and tender. I had the fried Mahi and Shrimp platter and it was just great. Fried shrimp are fresh, taste like it was caught that same day. Draft beer is the perfect temp and most enjoyable. Came here on a busy Saturday night with some friends and they had live music. Bonus! We were seated fairly quickly and the service followed suit. We were helped immediately, food came out quickly and the server was on top of our refills. The food was good. Nothing spectacular. My husband had the fish and chips and I had the tacos. My tacos were bland and pretty watery. They had hot sauce and a bunch of grilled meat juice on the bottom of the tacos, which didn't make them appetizing. My husband said his fish n chips were probably the best he's had locally around plantation though, so there's that. The restaurant wasn't great looking but the atmosphere really made up for that and the service made up for that. The live music is great and like I said my husband really loved his fish n chips. I would say the prices are definitely not a selling point either. They are Bonefish grill prices without the same quality. Three stars because of the food and prices. I live their food, but this time only complaint conch fritters were very dark on outside but but I'd say half done on inside. We ate them anyways because never been an issue before. I have been to Tin Fish many times and have always had a great dining experience--except for last night.! We arrived around 5:30 and there were perhaps 3 or 4 others already dining. The restaurant was relative empty and we had our choice for seating.Our server was a slightly older gentleman who was trying his best to be attentive. He was extremely patient with us, I knew exactly what I wanted ,. but my two guests were taking their time deciding, he assured us we could take our time. Joe, who I know, wasn't in the restaurant so the staff was running the place without him. I ordered a dozen oysters 6 "granpa" and 6 "dirty". Though the pricing was higher than some others, the special character of their preparation was familiar to me and I considered this to be my only selection with a bowl of chowder My guests had their choice of anything on the menu, and our drinks came, and our servers allowed us to sample a stew , which was delicious. Our server(whose name wasn't given, and I do wish servers introduce themselves, it would make it easier when trying to get their attention, or thank them) I asked for the oysters to be served first then my chowder. about fifteen minutes passed, my guests had been served their dinners, and I was still waiting for my oysters. The server apologized for the delay; another ten, fifteen minutes passed. I could see the person who was shucking was doing the preparation, the entire time. The restaurant was not that busy; and I didn't see any other orders coming out of the raw bar.A different server arrived with my chowder but I sent it back having told our original server I wanted oyster to be served first. After about a half hour, my oysters arrived. I remember seeing blue points in the Yelp photos and they were large and looked succulent; those that came to me were as small as cherrystone clemas, and perhaps the larger ones were out of stock, or the larger ones were not chosen to satisfy specific demand for the larger oysters; which I often do specifiy.but in this case i did not, relying on the Yelp photos I saw whih were why I didn't specify. I was so disappointed, I cancelled the chowder because my guests had already finished their dinners and I didn't want them to be kept waiting. My experience this visit was very problamatic for me, my oysters were not consistent with what I have experienced in the past, the price point hardly reflected the quality of what I was served. read more

First time experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our Friday fish dinner out at Tin Fish. We sat on the patio because my son brought his dog and this place is dog friendly (the flies outside were a bit much). The waiter even brought us a bowl of water for the dog. They had a singer on the patio with a great music selection and a good voice, he was very entertaining. They also have items for the dog to eat like a puppy burger and chicken. As soon as I sat down, we were attended to. Our waiter, Brandon, was extremely efficient and he was an expert on the menu. Our beverage glasses were always filled (that is a pet peeve of mine). For starters, we had conch fritters and the the sloppy fish appetizer (house specialty). We ordered 2 salmon salads, one on top of a Cesar salad for my daughter in law and my wife had the small salmon on a house salad. The salads, even the smaller version were very large. I had a grouper dinner over homemade slaw served with mixed vegetables (extremely fresh) and my son had the 3 piece fish and chips dinner (as a personal preference, I like a beer batter rather than the batter they used on the their fish). The total bill was $75.00 including 2 bottomless, fresh brewed glasses of ice tea. We have eaten here a number of times and came out last week because I was hoping for a lobster roll. Most of the food quality remains decent, but the service has taken a real hit. It is hard to pay four dollars for tea when I brought my own teabag and was never offered any real sugar, just a container with three types of artificial sweeteners. no refill on the tea was ever brought, despite several requests, when my companion was getting additional soft drinks and refills on water. When our food was delivered, we requested salt and pepper, and only pepper was provided before we had finished our meal. The fries were cold with both our meals, and we pointed that out to both our server, and the person who delivered the food. While it was mentioned, that replacement fries would be coming, they never arrived, and when I mentioned that to the server, he stated that he had asked the runner to bring them three times. I can't say who's to blame for that situation. The server did offer to get the manager, he said that it is impossible to get good help these days as no one wants to work in the food industry. I don't know if anyone wants to work in the food industry, but I certainly agree with him that there was not good help. the manager was kind and offered us a credit on a future visit, and I will have to decide if we are going to be back. If he had offered the credit off the current bill, I would definitely have returned another time. Good luck, tin fish. read more

The food is excellent but the service brought you down a star. No greeting when we came in...no sign to be seated. The waitress had to keep going to the kitchen to answer our questions about the menu. Ordered a vegetable in place of french fries on the platter did not get vegetables and did not get french fries. When server was asked about it she had to go to the kitchen again and did not come back with an answer we stood up and asked what was going on and she said well they said they're sorry no offer of anything to replace it or credit. Maybe we'll go back when servers have been trained better. read more

After I wrote the below review with two stars, I discovered something. So, I am changing it to one star. Our waitress doubled my tip and charged it to my credit card. I know my tip wasn't great, but there were some reasons why. I can't believe that she changed the tip amount. She may be doing to others, too. Please check your credit card statement! Be careful! I love seafood, so I was looking forward to trying their food for a long time. Finally, I visited this restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is well decorated, and our waitress was very friendly in the beginning. I ordered grilled fish combo - and after I ate one bite, I soon knew I would not like the fish. All of the fish were so dry, no taste - I think I can grill better than that. There was no sauce - or very little seasonings - so, there was nothing special about the fish. They were on the top of fresh cabbage - who eats fresh cabbage with fish???? That was so weird. The drink comes in a plastic cup, and everything looks so cheap - but, their food are not actually cheap at all! The waitress was so slow, and I had to wait 20 minutes to get my check! Definitely on of my favorite places to go and get fish tacos! I even enjoy the side of fries. It's different from your Florida seafood spot down by the beach, because well for starters there's no beach. Second, the food is actually good. Really good! I surprised my girlfriend here on a date and she enjoyed it. She's usually a very picky eater, so when she told me that this was a new favorite spot, I smiled a little extra hard! When we come here during the day, it's usually empty. The dinner hours is when it gets a little busier. However, we always dine outside and it's still pretty intimate for us to enjoy a casual evening dinner. Go for the fish, stay for the drinks! read more
