This was a wonderful find for my wife and I! We met some friends for dinner and enjoyed the deliciously fresh fish and shrimp tacos. The entire menu looked great and the ambiance was Wonderful! They had live music playing and the place was packed forma Friday night. The next day, we were in the area running errands and decided it was so good we wanted to return for lunch! This restaurant seems like a locals joint. Easy parking, plenty of indoor or outdoor seating, and casual vibe. We sat outside and listened to live music, which was very entertaining, giving you that easy-going, happy mood. Since we had never been there before, they give you a free sample of cod over slaw (the Tin Fish way) which was excellent! Our server were very knowledgable and kind. We ordered appetizers, conch soup and house salad, which came quickly but our meals took about an hour to arrive. We expected this though because it seems that there are only two main chefs, one of which is the owner. Their fish selection is nothing special... The basic mahi, salmon, tilapia and cod... So this little gem is tucked away inside a strip mall. It offers outdoor dining as well as indoor seating and an oyster bar. They have live entertainment while you eat and enjoy the fisherman type aesthetic. The decor is awesome! The staff run around in tie dyed shirts with the company logo. They are casual and friendly. The owner can be found behind the oyster bar, hand plating each individual order of oysters. He is always with a smile and you can tell that the employees enjoy the atmosphere as well. The food is delicious. First I ordered their famous New England clam chowder. It was soooo creamy. Then we ordered their fried Brie with strawberry compote. That is my number one favorite! For the entree I ordered the double taco plate. One famous fried fish taco, and one shrimp taco. It came with their delicious homemade come slaw and French fries. So good. My boyfriend enjoyed the fried snapper sandwich with Cole slaw and fries as well. Everything comes served in a plastic basket with green and white checkered wax paper. Simple and comforting. Cool place, nicely decorated although its a little small inside. Great sea food. We started with the New England clam chowder, it was thick , creamy and loaded with clams. It tasted as good as it looked. Then we had fried alligator bites. By the time I got to my meal I was already full. I got the mixed fish . it was shrimp, salmon, tilapia and mahi mahi . I got it blackened with fresh vegetables. My wife had fried shrimp, it was really good , and my kid had fried cod. I tried it and I liked it better then the blackened fish I got. read more

Food was ok, I was excited about the dirty dozen but I found the toppings took away from the oysters. Won't get them like that again.Liked the portion of the tuna entree but didn't enjoy the taste, and I really like seared tuna, it came in a bed of cabbage it was overdone. The fried shrimp was good, it came with fries and coleslaw. I wanted to like the food because we like the fish tacos from the Tin Fish at Imperial Beach every time we go so we may give it another go. I have been wanting to visit Tin Fish for a looooooong time. It's so close to home and I'm always in the shopping plaza it's located in. Two reasons why I waited so long: a) it usually looks packed and b) seafood restaurants aren't the most budget-friendly. ANYWAY, finally stopped in on a Friday night at around 6-ish. There was one available table inside and a few outside. We chose inside because there's not much to look at if you sit outside (view of the parking lot), but when we realized they have a live singer/guitarist - we were kind of bummed (you can't really hear it from inside). Also, the table we were seated at inside was against the glass, and on the opposite side of the glass is where they had their little "busboy trolley" (I have no idea what you would call that, so enjoy that term). We had a lovely view of the waitresses scraping food off of half-eaten plates. It didn't ruin the experience or anything - maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it - but also maybe the restaurant can do something better? The inside of the restaurant was HEAVILY themed, and a little crowded. They really packed in all the fishing/nautical stuff they could. They have an Oyster Bar when you enter, which also has a small section displaying fresh fish on ice. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. She asked if it was our first time and went through the day's specials (including what fish was freshest that day). She checked in throughout the meal and was quick to bring (or have someone bring) anything we needed. The food - it was GOOD. I started with the ceviche appetizer (cup, since my boyfriend doesn't eat ceviche), which comes with homemade "chips." Firstly, I wouldn't call these chips in the traditional crispy-fried/baked snack way. They were more like puffy pita bread slices (I think they were fried). They were amazing. They were totally useless for scooping the ceviche, but they were amazing so I didn't really care. Because I'm in a phase of ~let's be healthy~ I ordered the Mixed Seafood Grill (please note that despite my having just eaten an entire cup of ceviche and more than my share of those chips, I still consider having ordered the largest grill platter on their menu as ~being healthy~). This baby came with 4 ounces of mahi, 4 ounces of tilapia, 4 ounces of salmon, and 3 shrimp on a bed of cabbage. It also came with a side of sauteed veggies (I remember green beens, squash, potato, and carrots), and vinegar coleslaw. I was thrilled that my plate was so long it spanned half the table we were seated at, and took two separate photos to capture it's seafood-y beauty. The sauteed veggies and the salmon were my absolute favorite. I wasn't thrilled with the tilapia or the coleslaw. Next time, I'm going for that 10 ounce grilled salmon plate! (FYI my plate was literally so big I couldn't finish it. I boxed half of it and ate it the next day. It was still good.) My boyfriend ordered the double taco plate that comes with fries. He chose to go with blackened mahi. No photo, but the fries are crinkly, the tacos are pretty loaded, and the shell is flour (these are important things for me to note). A small stored space that is expanding. It's my mother's favorite restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale and we go whenever we visit her. Fish is almost always fine although sometimes the sides and sauces can be underwhelming. But the atmosphere is always convivial and the owner is often there; he treats my mom like a queen and always stops by to say hello. Wine selection is good and the fritters are my favorite. Fresh fish in a cool atmosphere! I've been looking for a good, affordable fish restaurant in Broward County and Tin Fish is a winner! I've eaten at this location several times (they have multiple locations around the US) and have enjoyed every meal. They are located in a shopping center, next door to Doris' market. Food that I've tried: 1. Raw Oysters- shucked at the Raw Bar and we're really fresh and tasted great. 2. Oyster and Shrimp Po' Boy (I've had both and also mixed 1/2 and 1/2, which I highly recommend) served on great roll with sauce on the side. 3. Calamari- lightly breaded and fresh 4. Lobster Tacos- awesome, must try! 5. New England Clam Chowder- creamy, but not heavy with lots of clams. 6. Grilled Chicken Sandwich- juicy and perfectly done (good choice for those who don't like fish) Note: they also serve burgers and chicken, which I haven't tried, but good alternate choices for those who don't like fish or if you want to switch it up. Staff: the staff was super friendly and attentive, which made the overall experience great. After reading several reviews of the Tin Fish I found myself in the area for lunch and decided to check it out. I'm glad I did. I ordered a grilled dolphin (mahi mahi) sandwich with fries and coleslaw. The dolphin was cooked perfect, the sandwich was simple which made it great. In my humble opinion. My only regret was, I did not order more coleslaw. I won't make the same mistake next time. To sum it up the dolphin sandwich was great. I have now been to Tin Fish 3 times. Each time with different people and each time a different experience, what keeps me coming back is always the food. First trip was with my husband, mother and 6 yr old daughter. My mother and I both had the fried shrimp plate which was very good. My daughter had the kids fish bites. It was a generous portion and I used the leftovers to make fish tacos the next night. We had the gator bites as an app, and it was very good and very tender. The sauce that came with it was very tasty. Husband had a mixed grill fish dish which he liked. While other tables were offered samples, we were not. Service was just okay, nothing to write home about. Second trip was with a friend who is pescatarian, so we knew this would be a good place to celebrate our birthdays. We started at the bar with Sangria. The bartender was super friendly and double checked about the fruits because my husband is allergic to mango (no mango, Sangria awesome). We watched as the hostess almost gave our table away, she quickly fixed her mistake and the other party was very nice about it. This time we had a newer waitress. She offered us samples of the cod (which was delicious). I had the octopus special for my meal, but it came out as if it was an app (remember our waitress was new). My friend ordered conch fritters. My husband and friend enjoyed it. They were too spicy for me. I was wanting the cornbread but since it contained jalapeños, and I am not a spicy girl, I passed. My husband ordered the famous burger (yes I know it's a fish place). To me it looked undercooked but my husband liked it. Our friend ordered the full fish. She requested it be filleted, and our waitress told us there was a $4 charge. She was fine, and then she came back and said she was wrong it was $8 to filet. She offered to pay for it and my friend understood and said not necessary. Out came the whole fish. Face and all. Uh oh. It was sent back with no problem and another server (who was potentially a manager) came to make sure that the order was redone correctly. She also tried to keep our waitress from coming over to apologize, which she did anyway and we appreciated. The manager made no real apologies. Visit 3: our most recent. The chef made me baked clams (YUM). The waitress (again a different new employee) charged me for 2 dozen when we ordered 1. She also only brought out 3 samples when there are 4 of us. Oh yeah, she also charged us for a lunch portion of fish and chips when we didn't order it. CHECK YOUR BILL! I had the octopus. Again delicious. My husband ordered the whole snapper, Asian style, filleted. The fish was brought out to see if the size was good. The chef then came out to make sure how he wanted it cooked. It came out delicious. Our friends both has sampler liked dishes. They enjoyed them. The fish dip was a bit wetter than we have had before, but it was very good and very fresh. My husband mentioned the hot sauce was very good and the chef said we could purchase for $6. Bill came and it was $8 but we didn't feel like arguing over $2 Each we have totally enjoyed our food. Delicious! We went in a group last night and had a wonderful dinner. Great selection of beers- we tried the Mango IPA and it was very refreshing, similar to Blue Moon. The appetizers were wonderful: Smoked Fish Dip, clam chowder, Kaboom Shrimp, oysters (on the half shell, Rockefeller and garlic parm- all delicious). Dinner was fabulous- we had famous fish sandwiches, gator tacos, lobster tacos, shrimp tacos, oyster po boys, shrimp po boys, and a 2.5 lb lobster stuffed with crabmeat! Going in a group is great because we got to try a lot of the menu and it was ALL DELICIOUS!! The staff was very friendly, the decor was beautiful and Chef Joe is wonderful; he came out, checked in on us and thanked us for coming! We are so happy to have found a great place so close to home. One of our favorite restaurants. I hate doing this, but I've emailed the chef twice with no response. The cole slaw was brown, the hush puppies were refried/reheated, the lobster roll meat was rubbery and slimy, the kaboom shrimp had added hair, and they blamed the delivery guys for this one - the tuna poke salad had no dressing at all. We go nowhere and order from these guys at least once a month. I called about the hair shrimp and got a $25 gift card, but I felt the chef should know about all the mediocre food. Nobody bothered to respond. I don't want a thing out of this except a response he was informed. Mediocre is common. Fabulous is rare, and Tin Fish is becoming mediocre. read more

The live music makes you feel like your sitting in the Keys and the service makes you feel like your at your family barbecue. Used to be one of my favorite last minute dinner spots. Friendly service, quiet environment and great food. But a lot has changed since COVID. Famous hot lobster roll is now 2 oz of shredded lobster, on a hotdog bun, if that. No more coleslaw, and fries are simply that all for a cool $26. They now nickel and dime you and charge for credit card processing fees on top of it all, as COVID tax, while they build out another 1250sq feet of new dining space. I'm truly disappointed in my last visit and hope this will not be a downward trend of one of the better hidden jewels in Sunrise. read more
