I went to Crafty Crab around 9 PM on a Thursday night after Zumba. The space itself is very big and spacious with ample parking. There were some customers there, but the place still felt very empty and honestly a bit boring. It was very quiet. There was music playing, but we could hardly hear it. The TVs were on, but with no sound, which didn't help the atmosphere. We were seated in the booth area where the other guests were. They had a 2-for-1 drink special, and the waitress was friendly and helpful. She let us know we didn't have to order the same drinks for the deal, which was nice. I ordered a passion fruit margarita, but it didn't taste like passion fruit at all. More tart than sweet. I didn't love the flavor, but I will say the bartender was definitely not stingy with the liquor. My friend ordered a Bahama Mama and had no complaints. I'm not a big seafood person, but I do love wings, and that's where Crafty Crab won me over. I ordered the 10 piece sweet chili wings, all flats, for $10.99, which alone is enough to bring me back. The wings were hot, fresh, and flavorful. My friends also enjoyed their lemon pepper wings and drinks. We originally came because we heard they used to have karaoke on Thursdays, which would have been perfect for the size of the venue. When I asked the waitress about it, she said she didn't know why they stopped. That's unfortunate because this place has so much potential. It's a large venue with good wings and cheap drinks, they're really just missing a vibe. Even playing music through the speakers would make a huge difference. Crafty Crab is never great in my opinion. It's always very loud inside. I simply want crab legs and not all the fillers that come with your order. I don't want corn or potatoes nor do I want so much sauce on my crab legs that I can't actually taste the crab legs. I feel the service tends to be a little slow and if I'm spending over $100 for a meal I don't want to be using plastic ware. Prying open a crab joint with a spork is simply ridiculous. I mean I won't say no if you have your heart set on going there to eat with me but we can do better. read more

I ordered takeout at 10:30pm 5/22/26. 1 pound of snow crab and 0.5 of clams with all corn cajun/garlic fire sauce $50. I believe they gave me old food that was sitting for a while. The crab was soft, it bend like paper. The clams were very chewy, the corn was dry and the season was wrong. It tastes like they put a lot of celery season and black pepper in my food. The receipt on the bag was correct but my order taste wrong. I order my food online while I was already in the parking lot so it wasn't like I took a long time to pick up my order. It was extremely disgusting and disappointing. I called once I realized when I got home but no answer since it was close to closing time. We ordered a dozen oysters, scallops, 2 fried shrimp baskets with fries, seafood lover special and 1 alcoholic beverage. All the food was delicious. The drink was ok. Service provided by Jordon was good. Nice atmosphere aside from some of the news stations. Cons were we were hungry again within the hour and it was a bit pricey but it is seafood. We'd return for the seafood broil only. We don't believe $25.98 for a few fried shrimp and fries are worth it. Although the oysters were delicious they were light air. I really wanted oysters to eat by the Davie area and I thought this would be the perfect place to try some considering it's all seafood. I think this is the place for their crab and shrimp boils not necessarily for oysters. I hope to return and try their boils because their oysters were not it for me. Let me start by stating the obvious, at least in my opinion, this Crafty Crab is not the best crab boil place I have visited in the last year; not in the last month either. In fact it ranks at the bottom of my list. Not really awful, but not great either; just meh. To start, just like this area of University the place is shabby. You can tell they remodeled it, but still rather shabby. The restrooms were relatively clean though which is a plus. And our server. BRITTANY, was fabulous. Wish I could transport her to the Crazy Crab in Davie where I think the food is better prepared and fresher. She was attentive, engaging and seemed like she genuinely liked what she was doing. It made our experience great and is the only reason why I gave two stars instead of one. So onto the food and drinks. I will start with the drinks. You might think this review is extra critical and it probably is. At the end of this review it will all become clear. As far as craft beer, they don't have great offerings. They did have Goose Island IPA in the mix and it was on draft, but Goose Island IPA is not really considered craft, at least not in the microbrew sense. Couldn't find a beer I liked, so I ordered a shot of Crown Royal. It was $10. OUCH! Also ordered a long Island iced tea. It was probably the worst long Island I have ever tasted out. It was either premixed and had gone bad, or their sour mix had gone bad. Sent it back and they tried to make us a new batch which was just as bad. I honestly think the guy in the front who was supposed to be the bartender has not had any formal training, because he made the drink like a friend of mine who doesn't really drink. It was really awful. Onto the food. It was your typical crab bowl fare. We ordered crab, shrimp, clams, green mussels and sausage between the 3 of us. We all got our own separate boils. I got 1/2 lb of clams, shrimp and green mussels with sausage. The boil came with potatoes and corn. I opted for the garlic butter sauce with a medium canjun seasoning. The butter sauce reminded me of the butter you get at the movies. I honestly have had better crab boils. So here is really why I couldn't give Crafty Crab on University anywhere near a good rating. About an hour or so after I ate their food, it went right through me. And that was quite an unpleasant experience because I was shopping at the Sawgrass mall and their bathrooms are like hot stinking saunas. Ummm, yuck!!! Crafty Crab on University, no thanks, but l would happily be willing to be served by BRITTANY anywhere. And just as a suggestion, try finding a bartender who can actual mix a good long Island iced tea. I promise you it is not hard to make a decent one if you follow any recipe you might find on the internet. read more

A complete 360 from our first visit that's why sometimes we can't base our reviews solely on one visit. But wow. I just had to find the time to applaud the turn around. Our server, forgot her name.. but mentioned she had 7 kids was a doll. She provided impeccable service. First off, she had a persona and energy that reflected off her that was contagious. She provided us with a set up and asked if we wanted butter and lemons (things you usually have to request) and she gave us premium gloves that were wayyyy better than the flimsy ones. She laughed with us and had great convo. I normally go on Wednesday nights because it's pretty quiet. Location is awesome and central on university. The steamed oyster are to die for. Don't play yourself and get a dozen. I got them mild seasoning and boy did it have a kick. I don't know if the bartenders are heavy handed for fun or it's a requirement because WOW. I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Crafty Crabs that left me appalled by the unprofessionalism and rudeness displayed by one of their employees, Savannah. I feel compelled to share my negative review to warn others about the appalling treatment I received during my visit. Upon entering the establishment, I noticed Savannah, who was supposed to be at the front of the house, sitting outside and engaged in a personal phone conversation. This immediately set the tone for my visit, as it was clear she was more interested in her call than in providing a welcoming atmosphere for guests. When I placed my order, instead of the usual warm greeting one would expect from a front-of-end staff member, Savannah questioned why we didn't greet her first. Her response was not only rude but entirely unprofessional. As paying customers, we should not be expected to initiate the pleasantries. However, the situation escalated when we requested to speak to a manager about her inexcusable behavior. Savannah's response was nothing short of shocking. She became aggressive, yelling and growling in the middle of the restaurant. Her behavior was utterly inappropriate and embarrassing for both us and other customers. The manager who eventually intervened admitted that he was not usually responsible for front-end operations, which raises concerns about the overall management and oversight of this establishment. It is clear that someone with Savannah's demeanor and lack of customer service skills should not be entrusted with greeting guests and taking their orders. The most disturbing part of this experience was Savannah's response when we asked for an apology or some form of resolution. Her reply, "you ain't getting s**t," was not only offensive but completely unbecoming of someone in a customer-facing role. It's disheartening to think that we, as paying customers, were treated with such disdain for no apparent reason. In conclusion, I strongly advise against visiting Crafty Crabs and subjecting yourself to the appalling treatment I endured during my visit. It's truly disheartening when you're spending your hard-earned money, only to be met with such disrespect and hostility from a member of the staff. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the establishment as a whole. My son and his girlfriend ate at the Crafty Crab last night 7/28/2022 and they saw a baby roach in the soda cup hanging on to the side of the cup that was half empty. They brought the roach to the waitors attention, they apologized and didn't charge them for the meal. Afterwards they called me very grossed out at the thought of what they might have eaten, that i feel it's my responsibility to write the report about what you might be subject be attending this restaurant. The restaurant said they had been treated for pest control 3 days before so I was concerned about contamination and that it would appear they have an infestation. I will say, they were very apologic and said they would cover the cost of a medical exam to make sure they were ok, i am concerned of what the state of the kitchen must be to have a baby roach clinging to the inside of a soda cup. My girlfriends and I went to Pompano Beach for a weekend get away and wanted boiled crab bags. We looked this place up and tried it. OMG!! When I say it was absolutely fabulous I am not lying. It was so good we had to come back two days later before heading home. I'm still craving it.
