D/T speaker not working so place order at window and asked to park in front. Option to call in order ahead of time for faster pickup. Associate was very pleasant and efficient. Can't express enough the joy I get from eating from this establishment. The service is "OKAY" they need to update their menu if something has changed when you come to order. Looking at 10 piece shrimp price $6.99 everywhere and I get to the place to get charges $7.99. I tried them and was totally disappointed. I ordered two meals; one with fish and one with chicken tenders. Each came with fries. I had a side of onion rings and a side of hush puppies. To top it off, I bought a slice of lemon cake and a slice of strawberry cake. Well, neither cake looked like the photo on Grub Hub. The food was cooked well done in old grease. No golden brown color just a recooked color and let's move to taste. I could not eat the fish or chicken. The cake was dry and stale. No telling how long it was in the restaurant. HORRIBLE experience on 7/4/25 at the Sunrise Hooks. I asked for shrimp to be separated due to my husband's allergy. The woman was rude and said they don't do that, even though I've ordered it like that many times before. After 5 minutes on hold, she says the chef will do it. I had a really good experience here on a relatively slow mid-day takeout order during the pandemic in August 2020. They require masks and the floor is social distancing marked with x's to stand. There are plexiglass barriers between the cashier's and the public. I sat in my car after placing my order. They might bring your food to your car, I'll have to ask for the next time. I ordered 3 fish dinners to go. All dinners were prepared fresh and hot. When we got home, the dinners were very tasty. Omg. Hook Fish & Chicken is just like the Snappers Fish & Chicken locations but me personally prefer Hook well at least I like them better than the Snappers in Broward. Hooks get a lot of business and their drive thru line is usually always long. Its been times where the drive thru line extend to where the Lakeside Condos is at. Hooks is located right off of 441 and is next to a Laundromat in Lauderdale Lakes. I usually get the chicken wings, catfish nuggets are delicious and sometimes the fried conch or fried shrimp. They have a good lunch special that stops at 2pm. I don't like that one time I was in the long drive thru line and arrived before 2pm but they didn't honor the lunch special for me so I left even after telling the girl I was in the long line before 2pm but she didn't care. The food is good at hooks but I can conquer with the other Yelpers that the customer service sometimes is not that good. Between the type of restaurant it is and the workers you really don't expect much. But I know how to not spend my money where I am not treated right. Hooks offer a wide variety of delicious seafood and chicken wings. They are fairly priced and most meals come with fries unless you get the family meals. I love the white lemon pepper seasoning and they sell it on the side in a cup for 50 cents. Each time I go here I always do the drive thru I have never ordered inside so I am unsure on how the restaurant looks inside. The reason for five stars, is because where else can you get 10 wings for $12?! And it's not 10 tiny pieces, it was 10 full wingette and the drums and fries! It wasn't cold. It came right out of the fryer. The breading wasn't thick- it was nice and light and super crispy. The seasoning on it, I felt was nice lemon pepper (but I'm not too certain what it was) but I did like it. There wasn't an up charge for ranch or hot sauce to dip in. Fish is nice and crunchy, decent flavor and fries are dusted with a salted powder, it may be laced with something because you will be craving to come back to this place. I've been here twice and had the fish combo which included 2 fried fillet snapper, 3 fried oysters, and fries and a drink. The price was reasonable and the portion of the food will fill you up. If you want heart attack and high blood pressure food then this place is cool. As for Inside and outside of the building it does look run down and customer service is blah. The food was good. We are on vacation and we love to try local restaurants. We order shrimp with fries and then wings and shrimp with fries. We ordered crab cake and waiting on the side to sample. Pros of this restaurant would be the location, it's very centrally located. Secondly it has a drive thru and then they bring the food out to you. I liked that. I love supporting black owned businesses so I don't go out of my way to give negative feedback. I will however have to be honest. Firstly the menu is somewhat expensive for what's being offered. Not so much the combos but the ala cart menu. The crab cake wasn't good at all! It was imitation crab meat mixed with some sort of relish. Truly truly truly dissatisfying. This place is a real sleeper. Yes it's on busy Sunrise Blvd. In an area not known for great restaurants. Get past it - The food is awesome. The owner Sam had a very successful restaurant in Chicago where he did great fried food. He's brought his secret seasonings and breading/batter to South Florida and just kills it! Constantly filtering his oil, although it's fried food, it's clean and not at all greasy. I have been all over the Caribbean and Hook's conch is the best I have ever had.
