Coconut shrimp with fries and coleslaw
    Christi R.

Food: 4 Service: 4 Ambiance: 3 Fish Grill wasn't our first choice for dinner, but was recommended by a server at a nearby restaurant. Our server, Brian, was friendly and able to make recommendations. We shared a cup of clam chowder (4.5), then I ordered the Scottish salmon with the veggie OTD (broccoli) and a baked sweet potato. The salmon was cooked perfectly (5)! My husband ordered coconut shrimp, fries and coleslaw. The shrimp were overcooked and not very good (3). The restaurant could use some updates but OK.

Saw this place as I was leaving FLL and decided to stop in for lunch. The staff is super friendly, including the cooks who came out (it was early so I was the only person inside). I ordered 1/2 dozen oysters, and twin lobster tails with broccoli. They only had one lobster tail so I subbed it for shrimp per recommendation of one of the cooks. The food was seasoned very well and the presentation was nice. Also had a margarita which was strong and tasty.

Food and services were excellent. Had calamari. Salmon, two manhattans, waiter and waitress at bar were excellent persons. Calamari was perfectly cooked and my salmon was perfectly medium rare as I requested.

I was driving south on Federal Highway in Dania Beach, when this corner restaurant caught my eye. A Fish Restaurant? I have to try it. They have good parking behind the building so we started out great. We encountered a cozy atmosphere that feels as if we were in NY. We were greeted very nicely and prompted us to the table. The waiter, Jim, was very polite and patient. He gave us a little background about the restaurant, and their concept. Very interesting that nothing is frozen and the fish are all cut and prepared in house. If you get there after 9 some fish might not be available. Everything that we ordered was spectacular. By the way they have a full menu and their burger look amazing. Will have it next time.

Lunch fish and chips. Tartar was so good!

Walked into a cute little corner spot. Parking behind building. Seated right away with a nice greeting. Came in for some lunch before we got on our plane. Wow! I got the fish and chips and my husband got the mahi mahi burger. The fries came out hot and crispy. The cod was lightly fried and so hot and fresh. His sandwich came out hot and delicious! We asked about the clam chowder bc we heard it was amazing on the other reviews and he brought us a sample and it was very good! Rod was our server and he was fast and friendly! Knew the menu and made sure we had a good experience! We will come back everytime we come back to Ft. Lauderdale. Highly recommend! Clean and quaint!

We ate here as we were desperate to eat something after traveling. This was literally across the street from our hotel. We sat down and ordered crab cakes, and the fried clams as our appetizers. Seafood was fresh and was good. Sauces didn't reinvent the wheel. We ordered an encrusted swordfish to share as an entree but that took a long time so we decided to order a soft shelled crab that was breaded and fried similar to the fried clams. The swordfish came out and it was not what I was expecting as there was more sauce than maybe fish and lacked salt. I was expecting more pistachio and swordfish but had a lot more balsamic vinegar flavor than those. Water wasnt refilled quickly and took a while to get a top off from my first cup of water. If anything, the food was more of a 3 to me because I thought and I know you can do more with a sauce other than tartar sauce. Breading could be lighter if they dredged in panko and flour. That way you get more seafood in the bite than batter flavor. Ultimately I gave it a 4 for having some good seafood and some I don't see on a menu too often.

This restaurant was recommended by my hotel concierge as it appears to be a local favorite to many. I checked previous reviews and felt confident I'd be able to enjoy my meal here. It was 50/50 but there's no 2.5 rating. Seated promptly upon entry and the server was ready within minutes to walk me through the menu and provide recommendations. Service deserved a star even though from observations the owner was relentless in directing her staff. Not sure if everyone was new and she was training them or she just micro manages due to lack of confidence in them. Aside from her chaotic leadership the staff managed. One even admitted to me that she does run a tight ship. The food, the food, the food...Where do I start? I had the calamari as an appetizer which was fried to perfection but was seasoned aggressively. Border line salty. I had the beef burger ordered medium well but had to return it for it to be cooked longer. The patty was raw on the inside. Clearly they use frozen patties in their preparations...and unfortunately that makes for a tasteless burger. Absolutely no juiciness and a very dry bite. Half a star for the calamari which I would recommend once it's slightly seasoned. Oh...and if you order ranch on the side that's an additional charge. There's also a fee for paying by credit card as well. Ridiculous!! I can't in good faith recommend the burger but maybe the other menu items are prepared better. The Bahama Mama that I drank was great. Another star there. That brings me to 2.5 star.

We went strictly off of people's yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. My wife is more of the seafood person than me. I had a bacon cheeseburger. How is a hamburger so good? I have no idea but it was. We had the clam chowder and my wife had the lobster roll. She said it was fantastic. Service was absolutely fantastic as well. When we're back in town, we will absolutely come back.

This was our second time here in a week. Funny we got the same seat. I was glad that were opened at 2:45pm on a Sunday. The New England clam chowder soup was delicious and really hit the spot on a cloudy windy Florida day. I ordered the tuna melt...again because it's one of my favorite and they know how to make it perfect. Beware: if you decide to go with the salad, you might need to sit inside and eat your way out because they give you that much. The service is great. Extremely friendly and helpful. There is no place better in the area.

    Blackened mahi mahi
    Jan C.

Brian was our server and he was great. server. Decent menu choices are available. We thought the Bang bang shrimp was weird . The sauce had too much mayonnaise and not enough sweet chili sauce. It basically tasted like mayonnaise. The baked potato came absolutely plain. Not even butter? Blackened Mahi mahi was great. Fresh and well prepared.

Honey mustard dressing ~ really good !

Encrusted swordfish was outstanding! French fires were HOT and crispy. Home made honey mustard salad dressing was really good, I don't usually notice that. Key lime pie was excellent. Kind of an old school vibe. Excellent service!

We live in the area for the pass 20 years , and 2 or 3 times a week we enjoy going out for our meals ,to change that I don't have to cook everyday , so we try different restaurants in the area This time ,because we had not been there for awhile we went to The fish grill in Dania I wish I could had gave them five starts , because the fish and chips was great, the mussels, presentation was fantastic but yes they were in wine and butter but ,they could had cut in the butter down, a little less butter The food was fine , about our server, name ROD, big tall man , I have never had a bad server like that He came to our table , Gave us the menus. my companion order the drinks , then he stood there did not give us the chance to study what they had on the menu, Like it is a normal thing to do. Then I saw the photo of mussells on the menu , so coming from New England area , I know fresh fish . So I decided to order some mussells , so I asked if they were fresh His answer " I have been her for 5.5 years.and nobody ever complain. Then I asked, " Are they fresh or frozen " Answer. " How would had know" If I would not have been for my companion I would had walk out . So, I can say,I am not ready to go back there . From 5 stars ROD our server brought it down to 3 stars

Be careful when you're driving by because if you blink you'll miss it. It's a restaurant and they also have a section with their baked goods for sale. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and I immediately walked over to the area where there was delicious baked goods in a display cafe. I had to remind myself that I had gone in there with a mission to buy cinnamon buns and to not be swayed by all the goodies they had to offer. Donuts, apple fritters and cakes were among the items trying to tempt me. The cinnamon buns came unfrosted or with frosting so I got the ones with frosting because who can pass up homemade cream cheese frosting? These were some of the best cinnamon buns I've ever had, you can taste the love they put into making them. The restaurant section was busy with people eating brunch on an early Sunday afternoon. The staff I interacted with were very nice and I look forward to going back to eat at the restaurant and to getting some other baked goods.

The service was good at first then fell off after we ordered our food- which was strange because it was not busy at all. We ordered the screwdriver & peach Bellini to drink. Steak & eggs and the Untoasted breakfast + side of ham. The screwdriver had an odd taste & the ham was extremely soft/squishy/seemed uncooked internally. The steak was not cooked well- but acceptable enough to eat. Our server never checked on us after we got our food which sucks because we needed a few things. A different server ended up walking by much later and asked if we needed help which is when I told her I'd like to send back the ham and screwdriver- both of which I barely took a bite/sip out of. I just told her I didn't like them and she got a bit of an attitude and wanted specifics as to why I didn't like it. I just reiterated i didn't like it and won't be consuming either so please take it back. We finished our food and no one ever came to our table again- while the workers were walking around helping the 5 other tables or talking amongst themselves. After sitting for 15+ minutes with our finished food, I just went to the front and waited for someone to check us out. I don't recommend this place and will not be back.

It also seemed like a healthy place which helped to influence us in heading there. The Fresh Squeeze is located in a strip mall and upon entering you have to turn around to look at the menu on their front windows. Besides that there is a cooler for drinks, a place to order and 3 or 4 tables, a 4-top and the rest 2-tops. After looking at the menu I ultimately decided on the Fire Bird which the menu described as Roast Turkey Breast, Provolone Cheese, Smokey Chipotle Aioli, Hot Diced Cherry Peppers on Grilled Ciabatta Bread while my wife went with the pressed pesto. After I had ordered mine he confirmed that I liked things spicy due to the cherry peppers on it and I confirmed that I did. Then while the sandwiches were being made, he engaged me in a nice conversation. Once our food made it to the table, I dug in. It was good as the flavor of turkey and provolone was in the front. Then the chipotle aioli added a nice bit of moisture to the sandwich and the cherry peppers added some good flavor and a little bit of heat to let you know they were there. Finally the ciabatta bread held together well and I was able to easily eat my sandwich without it falling all over the place. My wife also enjoyed her sandwich, especially the pesto and chicken on it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our food here and were happy with our choices.

Unfortunately, the service has been very inconsistent -- truly hit or miss. The food itself is adequate overall, and the breakfast buffet (which is included) has been good. The buffet items are fresh, and the past two mornings we've had a lovely server who was attentive and pleasant. However, other aspects of the service have been frustrating. Despite being here multiple days, staff have repeatedly struggled to pronounce a very simple name -- JILL -- instead calling out "Geo" or "Byron." At one point I didn't even realize they were attempting to call me, and we were passed over. It's a small thing, but after several days, it starts to feel careless. One evening I ordered a cheeseburger -- just cheese, well done. I clearly and politely stated (three times) no onions, no peppers, no pickles. The server didn't write it down. The burger arrived undercooked and bloody, loaded with onions, peppers, and pickles. I had to send it back. That kind of mistake is avoidable with basic attention to detail. Another night, despite the restaurant being half empty, we were told the kitchen was shutting down for an hour because it was backed up and they didn't have enough wait staff. It was a holiday weekend -- one would think staffing would be planned accordingly. As hotel guests, we're somewhat of a captive audience, so that was disappointing. Overall, the breakfast buffet has been the highlight, and when the service is good, it's very good. But the inconsistency, lack of organization, and poor communication have left us frustrated. Lesson learned -- we'll be dining elsewhere for the remainder of our stay. Oh the view is great !!!
