GG's A nice quiet charming place and waterfront. We had a simple lunch. Seafood primavera tasted great with a generous amount. The sauce was delicious for dipping bread; the ribbon pasta was perfectly cooked with a bit chewy texture. Oysters were ok but half of them were pretty skinny. I don't think it's a right season to have. Salad was fresh and good. Internal decoration was elegant but yet not too fancy; outside seats looked comfortable; window seat has gorgeous view from ocean. There was a fish-head sculpture on a wall in the parking lot. It looked funny and real. We saw many people took a photo there, and we did too. This is the gold standard of what a dining experience can be - so much so, I wish I could give it 6 stars. The food was delicious - from the tuna crudo and smoked fish dip, to the bread with hummus and their popular dish, the POW POW shrimp. The White Sandgria and French 75 drinks are equally tasty and refreshing. The service staff was attentive, knowledgeable of dishes, and quite personable (they definitely deserve a raise) - thank you to Robert (I believe our server's name was, sorry if I misremembered), Nico, Sarah, and Valanya (definitely butchered, my apologies again!). The food doesn't compete but complements the beautiful waterfront location. The outdoor waterside seating area (which I highly recommend making an effort to get seated in) is a bit tight, and my only criticism is that the tables should be a bit bigger) has an atmosphere absolutely bolstered by the natural beauty and lively watercraft, which only makes the dining experience more special. Otherwise, flanked by a road, which makes it a bit hard to get to, but it's well worth the visit. The site is limited to valet parking, which deprioritizes vehicular circulation in an effective manner. This eatery, being so close to a walkable, easily accessible, multi-modal area including Hollywood Beach and the Broadwalk makes it an absolute gem of not just dining in Hollywood, but in all of South Florida. read more

This seems to be a very popular place, and after being there this past Saturday, I can see why. 4.5 stars! Would have loved to sit outside, as they have a wonderful sunset view, but wait time for that was about 1hr, so we decided to sit inside. We were lucky to get a table with a view still, so was able to know when to go outside and get a great picture and enjoy it. Table next to ours was a big group, and loud, which took a bit away from the experience, and their wine selection by the glass was not great, I had a Bordeaux that tasted almost like table wine, but obviously not priced as one. But, putting these two things aside... a place I would come back to. Service was excellent, water constantly being refilled, server checking in on us to make sure we got we wanted and needed, they even brought a slice of cake (on the house) when they noticed we were celebrating my friend's birthday. Very nice touch! The food was excellent! We started with the brussels sprouts and we all loved them. The octopus was good too but, if you don't like a strong fish taste, this one is not for you. I ordered the seabass, by recommendation of our server and so glad I did. Fresh, light, delicious. The salad my friend had with the salmon was a winner too. Dessert is something you should not skip here. Their Chocolate Bar was heavenly, and the affogato just a perfect ending. read more

This is the highlight of all our diners while on Spring Break in Hollywood beach! Probably the only true upscale place with five start cuisine and ambiance. We actually loved it so much that we wanted to come back the following night however they had the entire restaurant booked for a private event. I guess that means we will have to return again. The views at this place are stunning and I highly recommend sitting outside if you aren't coming with super young kids. The outside deck area is stunning. We sat inside thinking it would be too hot but we highly regretted that once we saw the patio. The food was absolutely mouth watering from the bread, to salad to entrees. They offer a full grilled fish which everyone that joined us had it and raved about it. I had the grouper.grilled which I really enjoyed . I am not a fish eater if a dish of pasta is near by but this satisfied me and was delicious. Beautiful outdoor dining with great service, reasonable prices and good drinks. We went to GG's not once but twice during our recent vacation in the area. Each time we were delighted to be able to sit outside and enjoy the amazing views. The servers were extremely attentive and friendly. We loved how they worked as a team. The food was delicious, and it is one of the few places we will miss. We highly recommend making reservation reservations. Two words of caution, sitting outside at certain times a day can be extremely hot if the sun is on you. And we're still getting used to the included 18% service charge. Granted we always tip more and did add the additional tip, but that is very uncommon for where we are from to have gratuity added no matter how small your group. read more

GG's is a genuine staple of Miami and Hollywood Beach history. It has hosted numerous restaurants over its hundred year history, being known as a famous hangout for New York gangster scene and Frank Sinatra's Rat Pak. Featuring local seafood classics like Stone Crab Claws (in season winter through May), their famous Sea Bass and crispy whole fish dishes, this is a seafood lover's paradise, albeit, a reasonably well off seafood lover. Most dishes are $50+ and of course, delicacies like stone crab go well above that. The crowd is mixed, leaning heavier towards middle age and retiree groups as opposed to being a trendy show off spot for young money. With that said, there are already plenty of places for the latter category to show off, so it is refreshing to get a different scene at GG's that's more on the side of tradition. Of course, a big part of the allure here is the waterfront dining, for which there is an extra wait even with a standard reservation. Watching the bay and boats passing through is fun, although for that attraction, going here before sunset is likely better as the evening saw minimal boat traffic. With all that said, GG's is a staple for a series of reasons. Great local focused, classic food, kind folks on the staff and iconic views. read more

After sitting beyond a reasonable time frame he inquired as to whether I was being helped and quickly remedied the situation. Everything was delicious. We didn't make a reservation - we simply chose this place upon arrival for dinner. It was Thursday evening, and they seated our group of five immediately, which really surprised us. That's a huge plus. Thanks to the hostess and the manager. We had watermelon margaritas - they were good, but the classic one was much better, with a richer flavor. They also paid special attention to our vegan friend - he left very satisfied and full. We'd especially like to praise the meat and the Brussels sprouts - they prepare them phenomenally here. We found ourselves up North for the evening and decided to grab some dinner while in the area. After looking thru a few restaurant options, My hubby and I both agreed that the menu at GG's looked delicious, and we were delighted to relax and have a cocktail or two and some bites over gorgeous water views. Upon arrival we were seated and offered water by our waitress, still or sparkling. We were parched from a hot afternoon at the Hollywood Arts Festival and the tap water has been a little funky lately, so, still it was. An ice cooler was brought over and then not much else. After almost 10 minutes we waived down a manager who quickly made sure we were taken care of, along with a new server. The restaurant was hopping and our server seemed stressed and curt, ready to move on to the next table. We started with the calamari. It was over fried and a bit dry and chewy. Not great. After that I had the mussels with a side of fries, which is always one of my favorite dishes to order anywhere. Not here though. The mussels were tiny, with quite a few mostly closed. It's supposed to be a white wine, garlic, and citrus broth, but I really think the kitchen staff needs to have a taste test, because this dish is not working at all. The tartness from the citrus combined with the dryness of the wine made for a bitter broth which was almost completely unpalatable. My husband who's fairly easy going with food and one of the least picky people I know made a face like I had slapped him after I beckoned him to try a taste....it was that bad! The multigrain toasted bread was also fairly charred in parts which compounded the bitterness. The saving grace were the skinny french fries which were delicious. But so are the ones at Five Guys...so it's not that impressive of a feat. Hubby got the seafood primavera with pappardelle. It was...ok. The seafood was ok. Nothing about it was very memorable. While the bisque it was served in didn't taste bad, it tasted like it came out of a box. We skipped dessert. I think the mistake I made was seeing an elevated menu and thinking this was more of an upscale beachy type place, but honestly the food quality during our experience made it a step above a beach shack. If the food backed up the prices we wouldn't have blinked twice at the fairly pricey bill, instead we left with a disappointing taste in our mouths. read more

The food tasted good was delicious I ordered a zuppa di pesce, which they had a different name for it on their menu and my date had pasta primavera. My meal was excellent, almost exactly like you would get in New York as far as flavor and the seafood was cooked perfect. We did order mocktails which was carrot/orange/turmeric/honey/lemon... something was just off with it when I sipped it. Didn't like it. Poor Management and Inaccurate Menu Extremely disappointed with our recent dinner at GG. We ordered the $240 seafood tower, but the items delivered did not match the menu descriptions. When we pointed this out, the manager refused to provide the promised crab, offering only "complimentary" dessert or oysters instead. We made it clear those weren't what we wanted, but he was completely dismissive. It's a "scenic" spot, but the hospitality is nonexistent. Adding a mandatory 18% service charge to a meal where the kitchen failed and the management was stingy is unacceptable. Save your money and go to a place that stands behind their menu. This was my second time at GG's and they didn't disappoint. Wonderful ambiance and delicious dinner! Tonya was our waitress and she did a phenomenal job! I love a knowledgeable waitress! I had the Burrata & Roasted Beet salad with salmon. I asked for the salmon to be medium and it was overcooked but seasoned well. My friend had the Faroe Island Salmon and she said it was also delicious, except her salmon was overcooked also. Lastly, my French 75 was spectacular! I have to say it was the best tuna Bowl I've ever had. The fish was fresh, the ratio between rice and fresh greens was perfect. My family got the prime rib sandwich and they all loved it. They definitely recommend that meal as well. For dessert we got the key lime pie. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of key lime pie but oh.my.gosh. This pie may have changed my perspective. It was creamy, not too heavy and the lime wasnt overpowering. Very very yummy, I'm quite surprised. We all got martinis, I got the sunset martini and it was delicious. Not too sweet and very fresh. My family got the Watermelon Cosmo and they all enjoyed it. The atmosphere and ambiance was fantastic. We sat on the balcony and watched the boats and birds. The view here is beautiful. We arrived in Hollywood for a 5 day stay, tried another restaurant recommended by the hotel Concierge which turned out to be a major disappointment. Searched for something more upscale and GG's came out at the top of the list. Menu and descriptions looked great so booked a table and arrived on time for the resy. Once seated on the nice patio overlooking the water, we were served promptly and Brandon was very attentive and took good care of us. There was a DJ playing and the music was great and brought a lot of energy to the patio without being overwhelming. The vibe was great and other patrons were clearly enjoying the music and ambience of the patio. We met some patrons and tipped the DJ and returned to our table to order a desert. This is where things got strange. For background, I am a business leader for over 40 years, focusing on building strong leadership teams that are committed to taking their businesses to the next level. My partner and I are also entrepreneurs who assess and evaluate many business ventures while also enjoying top-tier restaurants across the US and Europe. At 10:00pm, we saw the DJ wrapping up and the music switched to a faint sounding in-house sounds track that completely changed the energy on the patio and patrons began closing out their tabs and headed for the exit. We inquired on the closing time of the restaurant and were informed us that that they close at 11:00pm. We spoke with the DJ as to why the early stoppage and he let us know that he was contracted until 10:00pm and directed us to management as the decision-makers. Since we, and other patrons were enjoying the vibe on the patio, We offered to pay the extra hour for the DJ to continue playing so we could enjoy the last hour of the day, and the onsite management refused the offer. The first person who came to explain their refusal was Neil, the beverage manager. He sounded apologetic and when we explained the business opportunity to have another hour of DJ music AT NO COST to the restaurant which would keep patrons there, sell more food and drinks, and give people a better experience to bring them back in the future, he could not "authorize a change in policy" but said he would raise our concern with the owner. This is exactly what we address in our business advisory service, the difference between "managers" and "leaders". Leaders are empowered to make decisions that make sense for the business and don't need permission for obvious revenue generating choices that are within the parameters of the business operation - we weren't asking for anything more that another hour a great DJ music. Yet, the onsite manager could not see the value of that. (Apparently the GM TJ was not onsite this night). So, the patio emptied out and by 10:30pm was mostly empty. The music was barely discernible, and the experience left us and other patrons with a bad taste that will factor into future visits. I do want to say that the food and table service was excellent and worth the visit. But with managers that are just following the rules, there is a limit to how great the restaurant can be.
