Last week we hit the jackpot with the wonderful server we had. It is sad that most the time he works in the evening , and most our outing are at lunch. So, this time he was our lunch server . His name was JOSE, I can say, after all the time we eat at that restaurant he was one of the best servers, he had nice personality, we could see that he liked Is job, hope next time I go back , that he will be working, beside the great tuna lunch we had , he completed our nice outing . Our server was really nice, attentive, and friendly, but the service in general was very slow. Not sure if it was a server or the kitchen, but the restaurant was pretty much half empty when we arrived. So I didn't understand why everything was so slow. I ordered the steak sandwich. The steak sandwich was decent, but nothing special. There was not enough of the chipotle mayonnaise to actually flavor the sandwich, the ciabatta bread was very small, and the roasted red pepper was more soft and pale than a bright red roasted pepper. The temperature of the food was low, like slightly warm. The biggest issue was the french fries that the cook or kitchen staff chose to sent out on that plate for someone to eat. They were cold, old, and half of them were fried out crunchy pieces. This was not from sitting in the window of the kitchen too long. This is basically pieces from the bottom of a fryer that has not been cleaned out properly. How those fries got on my plate from the actual person, preparing this food, then past the server, and actually onto my table is stunning. To make it worse, was the actual response from the staff when I brought the waiter over and pointed out the fries on the plate. About 10 minutes, went by, then some type of manager or person came to our table asking me what the issue with the fries was. He suggested that they were probably sitting in the window too long, and I then proceeded to actually pick up pieces of the fries and break them in half to show him they were fried out pieces from the bottom of a fryer. About another 10 to 15 minutes, went by before a food runner delivered a new plate of fries. So by the time the replacement fries came, we were already finished eating for quite a while. We decided to stay for dessert and order the crème brûlée cheesecake, which was OK. It took over 10 minutes for the piece of cheesecake to come out as well. I did not want to penalize the waiter so we did tip him well, even though what came out of that kitchen is unexplainable.

I was actually in line two doors down at another burger restaurant, Skinny Louie's which had just opened. The line was so long and I kept getting pushed and shoved by the people moving past me. After not moving an inch for over 10 minutes I peered over to see where some music was coming from. That is when I spotted the buy one burger get one free sign at BurgerFi and it was enough to get me to come on over. It turns out that they were celebrating their five year anniversary. They had a DJ, coloring station for the kids, coupons, and food specials. I thought it was only the burgers that were buy one get one free but they ended up giving me two whole meals with fries and drinks for the price of one cheeseburger. They even brought some ice cream over after. The manager Mark made me feel so welcome as did the other employees. I've had their ice cream sundaes in the past and they're delicious! They even offer ice cream by the scoops (cup or cone), milkshakes/malts, ice cream sodas, and freezes. We stopped by last week after craving a sweet treat on a hot and sunny day. Our son has been into cookies and cream milkshakes lately so we decided to get two milkshakes. What I really like about this place is that they have a take out window for quick and on the go orders. I've dined in a few times in the past which the restaurant is so nostalgic with all the decor. The staff are friendly and efficient. We didn't wait long for our milkshakes. Our son absolutely loved his Oreo cookie milkshake. I have to admit that I've never tried their savory dishes but it definitely gives us a good reason to come back the next time we visit. We will be back!
