JP's is a great casual breakfast in Hollywood. Right next to city hall and the library, the entrance can be easy to miss so keep your eyes peeled. We always call in our order and pick it up via the drive through window on the right side of the building. Anything you order will be way better than Dunkin or Einstein's! I always get bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. It is big, hot, and the bagel is great. Make sure to double check your bag when doing pick up. More than once, something has been missing from my order. Most recently we asked "are the home fries in the bag?" Got the response "yes, everything is in the bag". Get home, no home fries. read more

JP's is small and their kitchen is busy so there's a bit more noise. One of the servers yells around the diner - I don't know if it's necessary but that's how they seem to get things done. Inside is maybe like 10-12 tables but it goes pretty quickly. When you sit down they have the menus on a hook for viewing which I think is really impressive and out of the box. To eat we had the following: Tony's special: I got a blueberry waffle, eggs over medium & sausage. The waffle was crispy and delicious. The blueberries were sprinkled with powdered sugar. I arrived here just before 8am. It's tiny inside, so if you're claustrophobic, you might not enjoy it.. That's no big deal to me. I opted for veggie egg sandwich on an everything bagel with chive cream cheese on the side. The bagel was huge, so I finished half of it and saved the other half for early lunch craving. I saw that it was "too crispy" on that one side/corner, but they're lucky I like crunchy not just pillowy. For those that will say that's "burned", you might want to ask them to "toast a little bit." I asked for an espresso shot instead of the watered down coffee. With all that crema (sugar coffee foam, not cream from milk) -- or some call it espuma, it was delicious. It was a perfect temperature, but that's obviously because it was made right in front of me. I did see that when they were pouring regular coffee to others, the steams from their mugs were noticeably plenty. I like it hot. Casey took care of me. She was cool, but I think I was a little too chatty for her. It was starting to get busy, so I understand. If you want a quick breakfast without the fuss, this is your place. This was my first (and last) time at JP Bagels. The place smelled awful, like a dirty mop, which was a huge turnoff right away. The bagels were not very good, and despite having several people behind the counter, nobody seemed to be working efficiently. It took over 10 minutes just to get a plain bagel toasted to go. It was a busy Saturday morning, I was checked in on multiple times by staff, my food was delivered quickly and fresh right off the griddle, my coffee was piping fresh and stayed full (it was so good I grabbed one to go), and I am walking away totally satisfied. I travel for work for a living, which means I've been to a lot of restaurants. And, sometimes you just want something that resembles what you'd make in your own kitchen, without the fancy frills and crazy garnishes. It was also extremely affordable, which is hard to come by these days eating out. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, and I had a hard time deciding what to get but had no regrets in my choices. I scroll through Yelp almost daily to look for my next meal. I'm picky about service but I'm also pretty low maintenance. They blew my expectations out of the water, they truly set the bar. This one is getting bookmarked, and even if I'm within 25 miles of this place I'll go out of my way to come back. We U-turned and came back around when we realized there's a lane that takes you to the back parking lot where there are a couple more parking spots. We were greeted when we walked in and were told that we could sit anywhere we wanted. The staff were very friendly and our food was quick to come out. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the stain on the side of my coffee cup. My husband's cup also had a stain. They have a pick-up window as well so you can order ahead and just pick it up. The indoor seating is a bit tight and there is a counter with stool seating. Whenever we eat here I always get the feeling of a mom and pop diner where everyone is family including the people who eat there lol. More than once I've noticed the staff calling customers by name and already knowing what they will order which is amazing. Their food is very good and quick. Spending a lot of time in Hollywood lately with a friend working on things for our boat and needed some morning fuel to keep us going.
