Classic breakfast and lunch with a classic look. You definitely take a travel back in time stepping into this jewel. This place is hidden away in Hollywood and Taft. The Ambiance is very welcoming and service is top. classic diner food with great price. We will definitely be stopping back in the near future.

One thing you can't deny about Taft Street Cafe is that the staff works incredibly hard. They were running around at top speed, managing a very large crowd of diners. I wish their hard work translated to excellent customer service and delicious food, but the whole experience left us underwhelmed. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the dated decor. Dont get me wrong, the place is clean, it's just more of a dive than a diner. More important than the ambiance is the food. None of it was seasoned at all, not even with salt and pepper. I'm not sure what that sauce was on the eggs benedict, but it surely was not hollandaise. Plus, the English muffin wasn't even toasted. It was so off-putting that when my husband gave me a bite, I wanted to spit it out into a napkin. He was hungry, so he ate it. We would have mentioned something to our server, but nobody ever came back to check on us after the food was dropped off. I ordered the spinach and feta omelette that was on special. The omelette was way overcooked and so dry that it split in half (a clean break) when they tried to fold it. This place has all the classic dishes and it looked like it was well supported by the locals. I'm sure it's fine by most standards, but as frequent visitors to the area, the food just wasn't good enough to earn a repeat visit.

Have you ever been in the mood, for a good ol' classic tuna salad sandwich? Taft Street is just that. Classic, friendly and efficient! Just close your eyes and picture yourself in an 80's dinner restaurant. No frills and thrills, just good tasty food! Total meal cost $13.10!! Tuna salad was delicious, French fries were cooked just right (no oily or greasy after taste), coleslaw was fresh and also full of flavor. Don't expect a fancy place but do expect it to be clean and surrounded by memorabilia from the 80's including all decor. If you're in the area, swing by but you do need to come early. Everyday of the week from 7am-3pm. Plus they serve breakfast all day!

The staff is friendly and attentive. My coffee cup never went empty. The customer service is top notch and the food makes you feel like your grandma made it for you. Excellent all around.

As soon as you walk in, it feels homie; you're welcomed by smiles and staff ready to serve. Very casual environment, with tables inside and a couple outside. The meat is freshly sliced right in front of you, and sometimes even tossed down the line to hook up somebody else's sandwich. And talk about a packed hoagie?? Loads of meat and all the fixins you want! Definitely worth the $10 do that small. I was so eager to eat mine, I forgot to take a pic, but once again, that turkey hoagie was just like I remembered it! I will definitely make sure not as much time passes the next time I stop by.

Also reasonable price points for a combo sub to quick pick up for you or the kids. I also had the Mexican Street corn chicken sub ( not pictured) which was surprisingly good. Everything was made fresh to order and I could see all the grill action from my seat. Which I loved. The clanking of the metal spatulas on the grill is a core memory. Sunny's Famous Steak Hoagies in Hollywood has been my ride-or-die for meatball subs for as long as…read moreI can remember. This place wasn't just a sandwich shop. It was a core memory factory. Fresh bread, perfectly sauced meatballs, just the right amount of cheese. It was the kind of sub that required both hands and zero shame. So when the craving hit recently, I went back expecting a reunion tour of my favorite flavors. And... it felt more like a cover band. The meatball sub just didn't have that same punch. The flavor was kind of muted, like someone turned the seasoning dial down to "polite." The bread, which used to have that perfect soft-but-holds-it-together vibe, was soggy enough that I started eating faster out of structural concern. Nobody wants their sandwich collapsing mid-bite. It's still good. This isn't a disaster. But it's not the "I'm texting three friends about this sub" experience it used to be. And that honestly hurts a little. When you've had years of greatness, the bar is high. Three stars, and it pains me to say it. I'm rooting for Sunny's to get its mojo back because I'd love nothing more than to upgrade this review after my next meatball reunion.
