What a find! This hidden gem has fresh and authentic american breakfast! Its a small place old fashioned decor and it transported us as we were in a country town. The servers were super nice and helpful from the moment we came in and also to help us pick what we wanted to order. The menu has a lot of variety and we loved everything we tried! The american coffee was freshly made and it tasted good like smoky and with a lot fo flavor. We tried the fresh ricotta and blueberry croissant, breakfast burrito, farmers omelette and white chocolate pancakes, all the food was delicious and homemade. The side of potatoes on the omelette was also soooo good... Portions were big, we took half of the food to go cause we were full! So if you are looking for authentic American breakfast don't miss this place! Ps: they also have specials on a white board so make sure to ask for those ;) read more

Nothing to write home about! Run of the mill breakfast food, nothing was outright bad but not amazing either. The quality of the bacon and eggs reminded me of ihop. It's not super close to me so I probably won't be back. I was impressed by the size of the pancakes and the service was extremely fast on a Sunday morning. read more

We love breakfast places with my husband. This one wasn't our favorite. Service was hectic, they kept forgetting my husband's coffee. Omelette didn't have any salt in it and did lack a flavor. A classic style cafe spot. Comforting, simple, and delicious. If you're tired of the overpriced modern cafes that have taken over and you just want a cozy spot with comfort food, this is it. The service and food were good but let me just say... as someone who's not a big pancake person, I'm going back just for those pancakes. They are fluffy and moist and I don't know how they're made but they just taste so good. Mind you, the size.... I could barely get past one of them which means I get to take some home too. Great little hole in the wall. The food is homemade and the portions are large. The wait staff was friendly and super efficient. My waitress kept checking on me to see if everything was as ok or if I wanted more coffee. Thought the pricing was very reasonable. They have a $.50 up charge per egg during the bird flu shortage. There is also a 3% svc charge for credit card payments. Overall, the place is cute with a super large menu. They even have early bird breakfast specials before 10:00am as well as daily specials. I was in the area and decided to stop in here. It's a small place but plenty of seating and everyone I came in contact with was really nice. I decided to get takeout which I had ordered over the phone. I got the homemade corn beef hash, and eggs that came with grits and I opted for English muffin. When I tell you that homemade corn beef hash was amazing, I came back the next day for some more. I love the fact that I can tell that they seem to use cracked eggs and not anything from a box. The best comfort food that I've ever tasted! My dear friend put me on to this gem. Food and service were top tier. I can't wait until the weekend to visit again. Inside was very homey with a dated feel. I felt like I was in my grandmothers dining room. We were seated within a minute even though inside was packed. Our waitress came over to take over drink orders and have us a few minutes to go over the menu. I knew exactly what I wanted- that fried steak was calling my name. MONSTER PANCAKES... For years people kept telling me to check out this old southern charm breakfast and lunch restaurant to eat the giant pancakes located in Davie, FL. Today, I finally got the urge to take a peek at this legendary pancake. As soon as I stepped inside, a calm aura surrounded my body. This pleasant soft spoken woman named Cindy approached and told me to sit anywhere. I took temporary refuge in a relaxing booth and excitedly pondered through the simple two page menu searching for today's highly anticipated blissful offering. I inquired to Cindy about the "Anna's Choice" single giant pancake $4.25. She explained the several mouth watering topping options and decided on chocolate chip at an additional $1.75. I thought, how was this deal even possible? Within ten minutes, a massive ultra fluffy chocolate infused pancake was on my table begging for immediate consumption. I heavily poured maple syrup onto the center and watched as it slowly dripped over the edge. Without further adieu, I took a generous bite, very impressed by the hidden chocolate chips buried inside instead of the all too common weak top sprinkle. I took a second bite, then another, again and again until this mammoth pancake disappeared into the depths of my now happy belly - gym today for sure. As many times as I have been here in the past years, I was surprised to see that I had not written a review. As far as my previous experiences, they have always been good. Today was no exception. Good food and good service. There's not much to talk about today. My wife had Leo. She said it was a little heavy on the onions, but otherwise, it was very good. I had something easy. A grilled cheese with ham on wheat bread, with a side of onion rings. It was good. I also got some of their "suck it up salsa." It was great. It was really hot, but it still tasted really good. It went well with the onion rings. I really loved their salsa. I really need to eat here more often. read more

Ally's Comfort Cafe - 136th and State Road 84 in Davie I really did not want to leave this review. I tried with all of my might to do everything I could to not leave this review. Ally's comfort Café has been a staple in Northwest Davie forever. *Now, Ally, moved away a little while ago and new owners took over. They kept the same recipes which made us hopeful that things would pretty much remain the same. But little by little all of the staff that had been there for years started leaving. I think there's only a couple of the longtime staff left. We'll get back to the staff in a moment. My wife and I go to Ally's every Saturday morning. We go there have a great breakfast and then go to the Publix next-door to do our weekly shopping. There's obviously going to be hiccups when new owners take over a restaurant. We totally understand this. But some things are just not improving. They open at 8 AM on Saturdays. But, between 8 and 9 AM there's only one waitress and one bus boy this didn't always used to be the case. They used to have the full staff and someone at the door to take names. He would also help out by getting you drinks or more coffee if you needed it. It worked really well for the small family restaurant. The new owners took over and at some point they decided they only needed limited staff between 8 and 9 AM on Saturdays. And of course, every Saturday my wife and I go in there. It gets packed and the waitress is running around like her head is cut off and the busboy is overwhelmed. This isn't a one time thing it has been constant since they made the staffing change. It's completely unfair to the waitress and busboy and it's also a complete turn off to patrons who have to wait sometimes up to 10 or 15 minutes just for the poor waitress to come and take their order this morning. A couple waited 20 minutes before their order was taken. Also, the owner/manager doesn't get there until almost 9 herself, which means there's no management in the restaurant to help with the register or put out "fires." It. Is. Not. Working. Ally's has been known for their specials for years. They always have amazing special pancakes and special French toast. It's one of the main reasons we still go there. It's our little weekly treat. Lately the specials have been very monotonous. Some sort of jelly put on some French toast or some sort of cream put on a pancake. Not real imaginative for instance, today was banana cream and chocolate pancakes. It was a dollop of banana cream on a chocolate pancake that had little taste. One could've added some fresh bananas, or maybe some whipped cream on top of that. Meanwhile, the special pancakes and special French toast are often made wrong by the staff. This happened this morning. It took them twice to get the pancakes right and three times to get the French toast, right. Again, this is not a one time occur occurrence. We never complain. But we were surprised to still see those items on the bill and not discounted at all, but that's OK. The thing that really drove me to write this review, is that I waited for more than 10 minutes to speak to the owner/manager on our way out. I thought the best way to handle our dissatisfaction would be to speak to her personally. She disappeared into the kitchen, and even after the waitress went to tell her we were waiting to speak with her, she was nowhere to be found. No I understand things come up in the kitchen, but she could've at least came out and said hey I know you're here, I'm dealing with a problem, I'll be right back. But we waited and waited and waited and nothing despite all of the above, that's what irked me the most. I will say this. The food is still very good. And the waitresses and buses are amazing. None of this is their fault. They should all be paid more in dealing with a kitchen that can't get right and an owner that can't seem to figure out good customer service. We will certainly give them another chance, it's part of our routine. But after biting my tongue, I had to let everyone know what was happening at one of our favorite spots in Broward County. read more

I had the BEST breakfast today (9/23)! I was trying to find someplace different than where we normally go and as I was looking at their website, saw that they had Sticky Toffee Pudding Pancakes! Guess where we were going, lol. There were 3 parties ahead of us when we arrived but the wait wasn't bad. They won't seat you if your party is not complete. Our waitress was very nice. Food came out pretty quick and was steaming HOT and fresh! You can see the steam coming out of the coffee cup even after I added some creamer to it. The Sticky Toffee Pudding Pancakes were DELICIOUS ! I'm so bummed because I found out that they only have them about every 6 months. My husband's Caprese Benedict was cooked perfectly as per his request. The only thing he thought was odd was that you had hot eggs but cold cheese. It obviously didn't bother him that much because he cleared his plate. Parking isn't a problem as it's in the Shenandoah Plaza off of SR84, just west of Flamingo. I've been here at least five times already. I really like their breakfast. They have great bakery options as well. My go to is the western omelette special. The down side is a regular breakfast sandwich (ham, egg, and cheese), will cost you about $10. Ally the previous owner has since left. I hope they retain the same quality food etc. Service is always very straight forward but kind, wait time is reasonable. Maybe now that Ally is gone they will switch up the decor to reflect kind language :) we'll see! read more

The theme here is: a secret almost too good to keep I have to give them their yearly review because quite actually one of Broward's (yes, all of Broward) best kept breakfast/brunch secret. The food and the specials are almost always 10/10! The classic items definitely have that unique Ally's touch as well. We are frequent customers and while we don't dine in always, service is quick, friendly, and attentive. The inside is a little small but almost always packed and bustling with movement. I have had Ally's on my radar for a long time and just got around to going there. We went on a Sunday after church and arrived a little after 12:30. The place looked crowded, and there were people waiting outside. But we only had a 5-8 minute wait and got a table. The place seats around 40 in close quarters. Hubby ordered the special mushroom and brie omelet (with home fries and toast), and I had the French toast. Of course, we shared both entrees. The omelet was very good; the brie added a nice flavor to mushrooms, which were plentiful. The fries were tasty, but the toast was so laden with butter it was droopy. (Next time we get butter on the side!) Although the challah French toast was decent, it didn't soak up enough of the egg/milk batter. So, we ended up with more of a bready/toast taste. We liked the food, and the service was excellent (with Kim as the main person and others bringing our plates and picking stuff up left and right). We want to go back to try the legendary pancakes and perhaps some of the luncheon fare. P.S. There is a small charge for using a credit card, which we were not told about. (I saw the extra charge after the card was run.) The person I asked about the extra charge said there is a sign at the register indicating the surcharge. Hash browns are iconic--a golden, crispy masterpiece that defines what breakfast should be. Home fries are just sad, cubed potatoes trying to be relevant. Hole in the place with big impact! When you first walk in it has a mom and pop place feel to it. If busy you can walk towards the cashier and put your name on the list. For a weekend it was busy and waited 20 minutes but it didn't feel that long. This is a big plus for me since not many places do this they have iced coffee & it has REFILLS! For breakfast I had the chicken biscuits with homefries. The chicken was moist and super flavorful. When they first but the plate down it looked like the biscuit was dry but when you took a bite into it - that wasn't the case it was warm but not too hot and paired well with the chicken after adding grape jelly. Home fries were cooked crispy and had amazing flavor to them as well. All the staff were super attentive to us the whole time. They really work as a collective, you have your main server but when any staff member walks by they always asked if we needed anything which was a plus. Can't wait to come back! read more

I found this place by searching the map app because a friend wanted to meet for breakfast and I don't like the place he usually picks. I'm not saying what it is, but I don't like it. Anyway, I found Ally's and thought I'd give it a shot. Here's a tip; if you're going on Sunday, don't go late. This is more for my friend than anyone else, because he wanted to have breakfast at 10:00, which is almost lunch time as far as I'm concerned, so we comprised with 9:00. It was still too late. The place was packed. And Bobby (my friend) was late and they won't sit you until your entire party has arrived. I gave the hostess/waitress my name, and she kept checking with me to see if he arrived yet. When he did (finally), she sat us very quickly. One star is for her. Everything else was okay. It's breakfast food, so it's good, but I didn't find anything that was so amazing I'd rave about it. It was just good food. And you won't go away hungry. The portions are ample. One thing that would be nice would be if they gave you endless cups of tea like they do with coffee. For those of us who don't drink coffee, it's not really fair that we have to keep paying for additional tea bags when the coffee drinkers aren't charged more for additional coffee grounds. Typical diner food. Reasonably tasty. Service was friendly. Perhaps the main problem I found with Ally's Comfort Cafe was caused by my choosing to dine there for the first time on Good Friday. I arrived at 11:40 am to find a full restaurant. I was seated 15 minutes later. Drink and food order was taken and drinks delivered shortly thereafter. Then the waiting began, with the food not arriving for nearly an hour. In total, from arrival to departure, was 1 hour 45 minutes. I didn't see them handling any takeout orders and they stopped accepting new customers an hour before their regular closing time. They simply couldn't handle the flow of orders from a full restaurant. Perhaps the lunch time crowd isn't normally this busy. read more

We arrived about 11am on Sunday morning. There were several people waiting outside when we arrived and we could see the countertop bar area was open. We asked if we could sit at the counter and they happily said yes. The ladies were all quick to offer us menus and took our drink orders. We looked over the menu and my wife chose the Denver omelette with sliced tomatoes as her side and I decided to try the pizza burger with fries. Our meals arrived quicker than we expected especially for how busy they were. Everything tasted good but it didn't blow our socks off. Good, yes; really good, no.
