Anytime we visit Dania; we come here with my in laws. My in laws and husband love to get breakfast there. They have had pancakes, omelets, home fries and toast. They always love it. We went to Jack's Hollywood Diner after reading the reviews on Yelp. The diner has a classic look both inside and out, and the atmosphere really delivers that old-school diner feel. Unfortunately, the food itself was average. With so many great breakfast spots in the area, they really need to step it up. Our food came out bland and greasy, which was disappointing. That said, the service and atmosphere were the highlights. The waitress was excellent at her job--warm, attentive, and clearly loved by the regulars. She hugged her older customers who came in every day and made sure they were especially well taken care of. I stopped in here over the holidays for a hangover remedy. The hostess was polite and directed me to the bar. The waitress was efficient and the food came out fast. Overall, everything lacked seasoning and flavor. I had very high hopes, but unfortunately I was disappointed. Also, the staff seemed very overwhelmed and the place wasn't even packed. I saw several servers yelling at the cooks. The service was okay. Nothing to rave about. The waitress on break sitting next to me ordered a waffle and it looked and smelled delicious. My husband and I ate here and although my expectations were really high unfortunately it was a letdown for both of us. To start with the positive, the servers were very nice although our original server did disappear for awhile after giving us menus. There were only 3 other tables occupied when we were there and she wasn't with any of them so not sure what happened with her. I ordered the eggs Benedict with hash browns and my husband ordered a pastrami sandwich with fries. The food came out within a reasonable time. My eggs Benedict were average, nothing great and the sauce was very thick and the English muffin overcooked so much so that I had a hard time even cutting into it. I couldn't eat the hash browns because of the old oil taste. Not a pleasant taste at all. My husband didn't enjoy his pastrami much at all. They toasted the rye bread making it hard and the meat tasted like it waspackaged pastrami from a grocery store or something and his fries had that same old oil taste to it. Sadly this is definitely a one and done for me but I was glad to have finally tried it after driving past it for years and wondering how it was. read more

Fastest service ever. Lulu and the other servers were all friendly and attentive. The food was light and delicious. The free refill on the coffee is perfect. The place is very clean and perfectly located next to the bus stop which goes straight to Ft Lauderdale airport. There is enough space in the back section of the restaurant to store luggage and there is also an outlet to charge the phone while I eat == FANTASTIC. The place is quite open with a view of the bustling street outside. I highly recommend !! read more

Decent diner with classic breakfast options. I visited with a group of six, including two kids, on a weekend. There was a mix of tourists and locals enjoying a meal. We had to wait for a table, which is understandable, but the staff would loudly complain about how tables would not leave. Once seated, we were quickly helped and served. Although the menu is large, there aren't many options with vegetables. When asking the staff for their recommendations, we were bluntly told "everything is good." I ended up ordering an omelet, which was just okay. We added hot sauce and black pepper to almost all of our entrees. Nonetheless, the kids enjoyed their eggs and waffles. Prices here are decent, not extremely low or high, but comparable to other diners and casual breakfast spots. read more

We had an errand to run nearby on a Saturday morning, so we stopped by Jack's afterwards. This place is a quintessential diner! It's really large - there is an addition to the original diner. It's quite dingy inside - I have a pretty low bar for stuff like that, but it could use a just a little upgrade! Regardless, there was no wait, so we were seated right away! The menu is huge and filled with diner classics. We opted for the corned beef hash and the French connection. The food was good. It's a diner, so it just has to be filling and comforting. I was regretting ordering the French connection just because the pancake / bread combo was SUPER filling... I managed to eat about 1/4 of the dish before hitting my limit! The service started off friendly enough but then deteriorated. It turned basic and then very, very slow. There was a server circulating with coffee for refills and she seemed to be avoiding our table. I get super twitchy when the coffee levels get too low! I've had an annoyance with certain restaurants on how they made their French toast for a few weeks now. I visited Jack's Hollywood Diner last night to see if their French toast is as good as I remembered it being a few years back. There were a few people dining inside when I entered the restaurant. I greeted an employee and placed an order for the super French toast which was served with any style eggs (scrambled), Canadian bacon, one sausage link (omitted), and two strips of bacon. As soon as I received my food, I jumped into my vehicle and hurried home so I could feast on my late night breakfast. Once settled at home, I immediately ate the strips of bacon and the Canadian bacon which was tasty. Next I ate the scrambled eggs which was cooked nicely. Added a bit of salt and pepper for flavor. After a couple of bites of the French toast, I immediately realized that it did not taste as good as it did a few years back. Looking more closely, I noticed the bread didn't have an egg batter coating. It was just bread cooked on the griddle. It had such a dry chewy texture that I only managed to eat two slices. This is the third restaurant where I noticed their French toast is not coated in egg batter, but is cooked on the griddle nonetheless. Could the price increase of eggs be the reason? I can't do this anymore and I will not be spending any more money on "eggless French toast". read more

This was the go to place for me. I'm a breakfast at all hours of the night guy... The food taste is still good and the staff is still great, however, the home fried potatoes have gone away and the artificial deep fried "potatoes" has taken its place. This place is great if you're looking for a nice Denny option. The best part is open 24 hours. Remember running to a restaurant at 2am and then going back to the disco? If you do then this place will bring back memories. Prices are reasonable, food quality is what you would expect (good to very good depending on what you choose) and a huge surprise: they offer valet parking (how crazy is that?) Another brunch spot that we found by luck. Albeit great reviews on Yelp but you never know. It doesn't feel like an old school diner, it IS an old school diner and has all the same charm. We've eaten multiple times since and have not had a single bad item. That aside, the pricing is fantastic. I stumbled across this hidden gem while looking for brunch near my stay. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted and allowed to choose my seat. Krystal, my server, was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the 'Your Healthy Choice Omelet' with home fries and added a bagel with cream cheese on the side. They need to hire nicer servers. We were insulted by a waitress and her attitude. We asked her.to behave nicer and she told us she was never told before that she was rude. Another diner came to our table to thank us for pointing out this incongruity. This was a week after two waitresses had a high volume conversation across the length of the whole establishment. Wait staff was amazing and had us seated and ordered mins. I had the country fried chicken and mashed potatoes with corn bread. Chicken was fried fresh / crispy / and seasoned to perfection. Definitely top fried chicken. Mashed potatoes was definitely savory and delicious. Corn bread was a little on the dry side but was ok. Recently moved to the area and discovered Jack's. The menu is huge and I enjoyed the food but after a few bad experiences with poor service and extremely rude service. I find myself not wanting to go. I used to go several times a week. Then one day while enjoying chicken Parmesan the server told another table right beside me it was disgusting and she wouldn't eat it. Then went on to say she wouldn't eat anything in the restaurant. I informed the morning manager who didn't seem to care. Most recently went there two days ago and when I asked the French server for jelly she said I get what is in my basket if it's not in my basket I shouldn't ask her for it. I told her that seemed harsh and she said "That's how it is in France!" I love the food just wish they had better service. read more
