Tucked away on its own near a business park (which is always a good sign in my books) this place has all the right retro vibes, from the atmosphere to the menu. The food was even better than expected. The beef brisket was fantastic! Packed with flavor and super tender. The meatloaf sandwich was just as impressive, seasoned perfectly and stacked with a generous double slice of meatloaf that made it extra satisfying. The beef brisket open sandwich (sensing a theme?) was smothered in gravy which was very good. They're also known for their huge cups of coffee, though we skipped it this time. The food here has always been excellent. Been coming here over 20 years. Bagels are always fresh and must come from a local bakery. Crispy and fluffy on the inside. I get breakfast every time I come and it never disappoints. One time I thought the waitress wasn't listening and I thought she got our order wrong. It was my mistake to even think that because not only did she nail everything on the order, everything was incredibly delicious! Not to mention cheap! I love how cute the inside is and I always get a nostalgic feeling when I see the giant coffee sign outside at night. Can't beat breakfast all day! read more

I arrived after a few delays to Fort Lauderdale airport and went to the car rental place but the car rental place was closed so as I tried to kill some time and mull over my options I decided to get some food. We got there maybe around 1 AM on a Saturday morning, and as you can expect it was pretty slow. They were maybe 15 people here chatting lowly to themselves minus the group of ladies in my section who I'm not sure were ending or just starting their night. When you walk in there's two sides - one to the right and one to your left and straight ahead is the bar area with seating. The menu was pretty good. It offered quite a few different options from Greek to Italian to American. There wasn't a ton of options in each category but a good variety of cuisines. The food was simply alright. We ordered: Greek Burger which was topped with melted feta cheese, sliced cucumber, tomato, onion and house Greek sauce for $14.99. We ordered it with a side of coleslaw and that was really good actually. Perfect balance. I needed more of the Greek sauce for it to really stand out. Otherwise it didn't really taste special and I would have went with a different option. We also had the Greek combo which had the baked spinach pie, baked moussaka, baked pastitsio, stuffed grape leaves, served with rice all for 18.99 dollars. We mostly picked around on this place. The spinach pie was a hit! The moussaka we were split on if it was good or not. The grape leaves were solid. The pastitsio we both gave thumbs down to. It felt like it needed some more juice from the meat. It looks like there aren't a ton of late night options to choose from. So you might end up here or one of their other 3 locations across the area. If so my advice is to stick with their breakfast items. Looking at other plates, they looked a bit more pleased with their food than us. After all the food you eat you pay at the end up up front right by the entrance / exit. I wish I went to Lester's sooner. I'm a real fan of Diners and this is one of the best! They have real pies, Southern (charm) service and almost anything you could want on a menu. I had a tuna melt with cheddar cheese on the bread, a pickle, and coslaw. We then ordered cherry pie a la model and a black and white cookie. I had relatives visiting from out of the country and I wanted them to have a diner experience. It's been a while since I've been to this location and I was impressed. The interior has been renovated and it was clean. It took a little for our server to come to our table after we were seated. We were thinking that this wasn't going to be a good experience but she showed up a few minutes later and thankfully, we didn't have any issues during our visit. I ordered a sausage, egg & cheese on croissant. The croissant looked almost too pretty to eat (you can't tell from my picture). My husband and cousin ordered the Lester's 2-2-2. Our family went out to connect over the holiday season. I appreciated the diner vibe and it seemed that the place was popular- it was pretty full for a weekday morning. The server was personable, though I wished we had been checked on a little more. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't good to me. I got the tuna melt as this is one of my favorite "nostalgia dishes," yet was completely underwhelmed. The tuna tasted as if it came straight from the can, no flavor or variety of ingredients added. My niece got a kids grilled cheese with fries, and her entire plate was cold (you could tell it had been sitting). The server took it to the back and brought it back the same way. They use some kind of pasteurized cheese slice instead of squish, and most of the meat was grissel, they gave me water down south island ,no Russian. Just ate breakfast here with a friend. Chose this location for old times sake. Food was horrible and very expensive. But since we were really just there to catch up I would let it pass. BUT then at the end of our meal a bug (small Cockroach) crawled across the table. Honestly, my first thought was why would this bug want to eat this food? So sad. Never again. I was in town for a few days and decided to try a local diner. Lester's looked quite popular so I went on a Wednesday morning at 7:30AM and I loved my dining experience here! The place was clean with friendly servers, and the service was super fast! I ordered a latte and I am not lying when I say this was the best latte I ever had at a restaurant! One of the servers was also constantly making his rounds to make sure your coffee cup is always filled which I thought was wonderful! I decided to order the El Greco Skillet. I loved how they added Greek inspired options along with the typical breakfast food you would usually find in a diner, and the Tiziki sauce on the side with the gyro and potato hash mixed in the skillet really hit the spot! The waitress had warned me that it was too big for me, but I thought "that's fine I will eat the rest for lunch!" I ended up splitting it into lunch later in the day and breakfast the next day and still couldn't finish the rest by the time I had to leave Fort Lauderdale. For someone with a big appetite you can might be able to finish it in 2 sittings! I am still dreaming about the latte and want to keep going back to try more of their breakfast options, but I guess that will have to wait until next time! read more

Lester's has been open since 1968 (in its original location) and has been a staple. I tend to stop by here after picking up people from the airport or flying in myself. Obviously it's a diner so don't expect fine dining. But I think it's a great place. The last time I went I thought I took a pic, but guess not. I got the build your own omelette and I added tomato onions and mozzarella. I also ordered hashbrowns well done with rye bread. It was so good but I was so full I could not eat the bread. The Napoleon and eclair cakes tempted my mom so she bought a couple pieces to bring home. Sarah L took care of us and she was great. Im usually not a diner kinda girl. I enjoy my little bakeries and. cafes on the regular but this place was highly recommended by a good friend so we went to try it out. Long behold, we have been to Lester's a couple of times. At first we did not know what to expect but the menu consisted of mainly American food and some Greek/Mediterranean choices. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of selection on the menu. There is definitely something for everyone in there. The couple of times we were there the servers were very attentive and warm. They tried their best to give you the best service while also having small talk and makes you feel very welcomed there. This dinner feels like a neighborhood, in a way which you just feel like you're eating there with your neighbors. Very homey feel. A few years ago my stepdad introduced my hungry kids to Lester's when they got off the airplane. My youngest has been dreaming about the fort lauderdale (a foot long hot dog topped with our homemade chili, onions and cheddar) ever since. We landed once again at FLL and my youngest was very torn. between Lester's foot long hot dog or the insanely large ice cream sundaes from jacksons. Decisions, decisions. Lester's won. I could hardly stomach having this hot dog at my table so certainly wasn't going to indulge in it, but fortunately this diner has a very large menu or other items. I opted for an omelette, which filled me up quite nicely. And my son went to ton on his hot dog, which doesn't look too appetizing to me, but he absolutely loves it. I was eyeing the delicious looking carrot cake on my way out, but knew we would have plenty of good desserts in store for us in South Florida over the next week. I visited the diner three times very late at night after clubs, and every single time it was packed - obviously very popular, and locals know exactly where to go for good food at that hour. The diner was always clean whenever I visited; and I really like its simple but cute and classy American design. There are plenty of parking spots around the business. The night-shift staff were always nice and friendly, plus very quick - which they had to be with so many people to serve. Honestly, sometimes it was hard to catch a waiter if I needed something extra, because they were so busy and didn't really check on me often; but it wasn't a big deal, since eventually someone always came and helped. The diner's menu is pretty big and has a good selection of meals. I tried several things - Lester's Signature Skillet, Fort Lauderdale Hot Dog, and Pork Chops. I have nothing negative to say about the food I had - everything came out fresh and tasty! If I had to pick a favorite, I'd definitely say the Pork Chops. Another favorite of mine is their dessert Orange Sunshine Cake, which has a very rich orange flavor. I ate it twice - the first time it was super fresh and moist, just perfection! The second time it was one of the last pieces left, so it was dry, but still tasty (just not as amazing as my first experience). From drinks I tried their iced tea and a strawberry milkshake - both had great flavor; and the free iced tea refills are a big plus! Prices at the diner are reasonable for all items on the menu. Usually my bill was around $25 (for one main meal, a piece of cake, and a drink). The business accepts all major credit cards and Apple Pay, which is another plus.
