What a hidden gem! We were looking for a restaurant in our neighborhood with great reviews and we found it at Crazy Cooks. You have to make sure you are there during their lunch hours of 11am - 2pm, but you will be in for a treat! It was our first time so we ordered a Grilled Cheese with Bacon (OMG, smoked applewood bacon - yes please!) along with French fries. We also ordered the Beef Stroganoff with mushrooms and egg noodles and garlic bread as well as the cheeseburger with Tater tots! Loved it all and loved the owners that run this well oiled machine! - Judy and Gianna are the dynamic mother and daughter team who run the front of the restaurant and check in on all their regulars frequently! From the moment I walked in, this place had that greasy spoon look and vibe. The very few people working here seemed nice to the "regular diners" but even after talking the server that we see how busy they were and we were in no hurry, we just wanted to look at the menu which Noone ever acknowledged us to do just that. We sat at the bar counter since there were only a few tables and none available. We were told to "hang tight" as she would get to us when she could. After about 20 minutes of waiting and not really seeing any food get served at the noon lunch hour, we decided to 'walk' because we had no idea even when she would take our lunch order. They were severely understaffed and couldn't hand the 20 people who were already seated and not eating yet. Night husband is off on mondays , so upon doing a google search for the best restaurant for lunch embroid county.Crazy Cooks came up. So we drove to Davie, about a half hour away from Pompano Beach. Drove into a little strip mall on Orange Street. We went inside and we were greeted by Gianna , who was lovely and the daughter of the owner/chefs, met the owner/ chefs, as well.They were all very welcoming! At the first table , there was a couple and they said this place is like cheers where everybody knows your name , and I saw that that was true! My husband had the corn chowder soup, which was delicious.I got a taste. He also had one of their meatballs , which was tasty! Then we each had a special, my husband, Les had\nThe sausage with peppers and onions and a big salad , and he loved it and I ordered the Cajun pork.It came with rice and fresh vegetables.It was delicious!!! I randomly happened in to Crazy Cooks one day a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the great prices and amazing quality food has me ordering there much more often (than I should). The service is great, the specials are amazing! Leaving the Hard Rock Hotel we decided to grab some lunch before we hit the road. As always, I research on Yelp. Had it not been for the great reviews I not only wouldn't have found it, I never would have stopped in. But so glad we did! Upon entering we were greeted with a friendly hello. She gave us menus, grabbed our drinks and told us the daily specials. Larry said he was torn between the pork tenderloin in a homemade onion gravy with noodles and mixed vegetables or the Sloppy Joe with tater tots. Another customer said he gave 2 thumbs up for the sloppy joe. We decided to each get one and share. Larry said it was probably the best sloppy joe he's ever eaten and the tater tots were probably deep fried because they were really crispy, The pork tenderloin was really tender and we enjoyed that too. While we didn't try the other special of chicken and waffles it smelled really good and those customers were raving about it. The Yelp rating pulled me in as always and all I can say is that it was a well deserved rating. These were seriously the nicest and most attentive people I have ever met and it shows how much this family run business is passionate about what they do. The place is bar like in atmosphere but it is obvious this is a well loved local lunch spot. Gianna, the owner/server was so slammed but did it all with the friendliest smile and managed to be attentive to each and every person! They have the best tomato soup I have ever had and the burgers were huge and delicious. If I was local this would be a go to spot for sure!!! There are several reasons to eat at Crazy Cooks. The best reason is the food. I had a cheeseburger that was equal to a culinary orgasm. I barely was able to eat the entire cheese burger. The second reason to eat here is the atmosphere. The restaurant by every standard is a locals place where the servers know everyone. If they don't know, the treat you as if they know. Another hidden gem found with yours truly, Yelp. I was in the area to eat with a friend and this was near his work. We were both found it very impressive. This place is a little off the beaten path and I never would've heard of it without the internet. With a perfect rating and decent looking photos my quest for a good restaurant abruptly concluded with this place and it didnt let me down. The open sign seemed faded in the sun and without anyone loitering outside and a window I couldn't see in, I questioned whether it was open or not but I'm glad I tugged the door as it let me right in. It seemed family owned but we didnt go into the questionnaire to confirm it. But at minimum it seemed like a father /daughter worked there likely with other family members. It was obvious everyone seemed proud of their place and its food. They recommended their burgers and I'm glad I got one. Its size and appearance reminded me of a mondo burger from the old school Nickelodeon movie "good burgers" minus the roids. These are confirmed legit and tasty. Cooked to perfection and served on the softest bun, it was nearly (not literally, but darn close) to die for. The patty melt was reportedly EPIC as well. We went to this restaurant based on the reviews - and we were not disappointed. Don't let the appearance from the outside deter you!! It's small and a little dated and dark inside, but very clean. The minute we walked in we were greeted with an enthusiastic smile and told to have a seat anywhere we liked. The service was excellent and the food was just as good. We had the chicken corn chowder soup, phillys, an Italian sub, and a chicken fajita sandwich. All of it was superb! Also, not sure how they cook their tater-tots, but they were very crispy on outside and tender on the inside! We have one who is gluten free in our party. They worked with us to find options for her. Like every single Wednesday, I decided to try a new place to lunch. I found this place very close from the place I was working. I arrived around 1PM. There was plenty of parking. The restaurant is located in a small mall. Very accessible. The place was packed and I decided to seat by the bar. I was immediately greeted and given the menu. The waitress was super nice! I decided to order the American burger with french fries and freshly brew ice tea. I did not have to wait long. The burger was juice and very well prepared. Everything tasted fresh. Even though the place is not "fancy" at all, the customer services was great and the food was worth it. This is place is an absolute dive! Thank you Yelp for this one, it's a family owned restaurant and the family is there the whole time. When you walk in, it feels like an old bar you would find in Boston or Philly. It was so awesome and the menu has the best choices. My wife and I had no plans to go to Crazy Cooks. We weren't even going to be in the area that the place is located! We were planning on going to Flamingo Gardens, which isn't even that close to Crazy Cooks. Alas, our newborn son created some delays, and we changed plans mid-drive, and started Yelping for lunch spots. The photos looked good, and the reviews were great all around. That's pretty much where we set the bar when impromptu Yelping while driving 65 mph down the highway. It seems this place is in an industrial area and serves the people working at businesses locally. The sandwiches here were awesome. The burger was so good, it's the kind of delicious where a few days later, you still don't really want a burger because the burger at Crazy Cooks is still fresh in your mind. The staff is very friendly, and originally from New Jersey, so there were lots of discussions on NY/NJ vs FL. Despite the fact this place isn't really on the map going anywhere, we will probably come back because of the quality of food and quality of staff. read more

The Crazy Cooks family must be from the Philly/South Jersey area because they make an excellent cheesesteak. It's perfectly seasoned and grilled, with mozzarella cheese and grilled onions. I get it with marinara sauce mixed in for delicious pizza steak. The menu is filled with hoagies, sandwiches, burgers (all 10 oz!), and some salads. The daily soup and specials are posted on a white board. Each time I eat at Crazy Cooks it seems the regulars are mostly ordering the specials. Hmmmm. They might be onto something I haven't yet discovered. If you're looking for a modern, hipster, ethnic fusion, clean lines, trendy place, Crazy Cooks is not for you. Alright, first off the burger was really, really good! It was ideally seasoned, prepared quickly, and cooked to a perfect medium rare. It hit all the bases. That's not what this review is about, though. I normally don't care about service, but I do have to make a special exception in this case. My wife left a small bag at the table before we left. It was a hectic day and we had to get some stuff done before running to the airport. By the time we realized her bag was gone, we were already in the terminal getting ready to check bags. I called the restaurant and asked them if they could potentially ship it to us, as we don't live in Florida. The man on the phone responded kind of ludicrously when I told him we were at the airport about to leave - "Ship it?! Why would I do that? I can just bring it to you!" I tried to tell him this was wholly unnecessary. This wasn't acceptable to him. He explained that he lives close to the airport and was leaving with the bag anyways. He got our number and this chef BROUGHT THE BAG TO THE DEPARTURES TERMINAL FOR US IN HIS TRUCK. Like holy hot damn way to earn a customer for any meal we have in the Ft. Lauderdale area forever. It was pretty good. Strange dive bar vibe but it's mostly just a restaurant now. Feels like one of those random truck stop restaurants when your driving across the country which is what makes it unique. The owners daughter takes your order and deals the scoop on the food and specials. The food was made quickly and consumed even faster. My sweet cuban sandwich was good but my gfs open face turkey sandwich was stellar. Even the veggies and I don't eat veggies. Will return soon. read more
