This is a special gem hidden inside a local strip mall, exceptional fish dishes that are sure to please all the seafood lovers in your family. We had the poke which was VERY good and although relatively expensive it was a huge portion of fish. We loved the fried pitas it was served with. We also had multiple variations of the lobster roll, excellent yet again with plenty of the sweet and succulent lobster meat. The next time I visit south Florida I'll be stopping by again for the poke and lobster rolls! read more

I love the fish at this restaurant. We had three different dishes. Standard fish sandwich with cole slaw and side of mixed vegetables. Salmon plate and the Mahi Salad. All three dishes were delicious. I always order the same sandwich. Joe the owner gave me a piece of fish off the plate of another table. The is an energetic fun guy who takes his business seriously. Service is always excellent. Prices are fair. Decor could be updated due to wear and tear. Plenty of parking. read more

We randomly stopped by to satisfy some oyster cravings we were having, and oh boy! this place is ah-mazingggg. We had the raw Florida oysters and also tried the grilled oysters. They were shucked just perfect, and tasted fresh as can be. We will definitely be back for a full course meal next time around. read more

Food was delicious, but it bit pricey. The soups were very good but way overpriced. $13 for a bowl of soup was ridiculous. I don't care how good the soup is. And they should have more vegetables to their menu. Just french fries doesn't do it. Fresh vegetables and salads would do a great justice to the restaurant. read more

Good little local fish restaurant located next to Doris market in sunset strip. Appetizers (shrimp and fish dip were excellent)! Stella Beers were served very cold and in a nice glass. Fish tacos were average not as tasty as anticipated (over cooked blackened) Also, served cold. Our waitress although new was sweet and delightful trying her best...unlike the manager of the restaurant (lady) who kept being very rude to her. Carrot cake was exceptionally moist and delicious . read more

We had our company holiday dinner party here on 12/11/2024. EXCELLENT all around! From the start the GM Mike worked with us on a set menu and food options. He created a beautiful menu for the table which was placed for each guest as we arrived at our seats. Our table was located in a nice part of the restaurant off to the side and was perfect for a large table of 12. The restaurant itself is very pretty inside. We had appetizers, entrees, desserts and beverages. Everything was delicious and service was excellent. Nick and Ben, our servers both were very attentive and adding to making the experience enjoyable. Swordfish, Salmon, Chicken Parm and Filet are some of the dishes we had. The heated romaine salad appetizer is my favorite highly recommend. We all loved the dishes. There is a dining room side and a bar and table side. Great atmosphere for either type of dinning preference. Looking forward to going back for dinner! Highly recommend. read more

Good fresh food, good people, casual neighborhood place. I've seen some big fish being delivered whole, fresh off the boats. Nice new bar they added recently. Chef/owner is usually around and makes sure everyone's happy. We don't get to go too often because they close early and we tend to go out later. A little music and a happy hour would make it great. read more

Went here for the first time for lunch today for my anniversary. First of all, the server Heath was amazing. He was very attentive and personable. The gentleman that helped him was also great. The food was also very good. The seafood was very fresh. We had Kaboom shrimp, grilled oysters, clam chowder and a whole fried snapper with Asian sauce and grilled asparagus. Everything tasted excellent. I will definitely recommend this place. read more

What a cute restaurant! I loved the entire atmosphere/vibe of it. The service was extremely nice, the live music was awesome, and the food was good. Crab chowder- it was good, but extremely salty. Very creamy but in a good way. A little less salt and it would have been perfect Lightly battered shrimp appetizer was awesome. I loved how you could really get a taste of the shrimp bc there wasn't tons of dough on it Whole fried branzino fish. Omg! It was so good. Flaky and so melt in your mouth. The Asian ginger sauce is to die for. I highly recommend this! Can't wait to fly back to Florida for this place read more

Cute little place if you're looking for some good seafood for lunch or dinner! I'd heard lots of good things in the past and glad I finally checked it out. The staff is great, very friendly. I will say the service was a little slow (wasn't that busy), but it was worth it. There's a bar inside, indoor seating and a outdoor patio area as well. They have a cool selection of cocktails, but didn't have the chance to try. Definitely doing that next time! I had the Cesar Salad with Grilled Shrimp and it was absolutely delicious. The shrimp was juicy and fresh. The conch fritters and clam strips were delicious too! I am eager to come back here and try some more of their food (and cocktails)! read more

Horrible horrible service came for lunch and took about 15-20 min to get greeted not too mention how long it took once we got seated & then till we got our drinks and menu . The food took forever to come out although, everything that came to the table was great the service lacked and took forever for things to come out & for our drinks and refill to come back.the server was also a bit rude when I asked why the baked fish would take 2 hours to get to the table it shouldn't take a baked fish 2 hours to hit a table we then settled for a fried fish it took an hour we left canceling the fish cause of how long it took deff not a place for a lunch break be prepared to be here 2-3 hours. read more

Good to have this casual seafood option out West where many restaurants tend to be chains and too many independents are subpar. Tin Fish brings a city meets Margaritaville vibe to it's NE corner of a strip mall location in Sunrise. It has traditional chip shop design with black and white colors and wood, an iced counter with day's catch on display, a bar. The menu is well thought offering efficient price tiers such as taco without a side as well 1 or 2 taco with sides. The platters state the type of fish or seafood along with ounce size. A choice of fried or grilled. Prices are fair for the above average taste of the food. The cole slaw is fresh in a natural vinegarette vs a mayonnaise base. The conch fritters are a hit-run appetizer with pieces of natural corn. Kaboom shrimp has balance of sweet & spicy flavor, is not overly battered, but is appropriately crunchy. The lobster roll rivals Luke's Lobster; yummy, warm, soft and buttery bread with plentiful hot lobster chunks that transports you to a New England summer; it's hard to find good ones even with all the restaurants that offer it. The wild caught Alaskan cod crust is both fried light and the perfect subtle taste. Crinkle fries with Old Bay dust are a must; even the ketchup is better than normal. My strange barometer for good seafood is how it reheats; as I live in downtown Miami when eating here with my family that lives in Broward, leftovers or the extra take home order is just as satisfying. Mojitos are a South Florida staple drink that is prepared inconsistently; the Tin Fish Mojito holds it's own among the best in the land and freshly made upon request. Here is where you eat good seafood in the neighborhood. read more

So in regards to service- 5 stars! We had Ariel as our server and she was great. She was helpful, friendly and super bubbly! I ordered the fish & chips cause I was craving something crunchy and delicious but they were OK. It was more like breadcrumbs vs a beer battered fish. Chips were good though (aka fries!) My friend ordered a veggie taco and she didn't finish it- it was lacking a little flavor. I ordered the Kaboom Shrimp too and it was also OK. Nothing out of this world but not terrible. I don't live in this area, was at the BB&T Center and it was near Tin Fish and was craving seafood. But I don't think I'd go back. sowwee! Wasn't my jam. read more

We have been to this restaurant a few times and each time is the same....absolutely horrible. This weekend was my final chance for this place and they blew it. 2 hours for overpriced fried food and trash service. How this place is still open is beyond me. Here's my breakdown of this place: Location: Convenient and in the neighborhood that's why we keep giving this place "one last try". Outside seating is a great concept for any restaurant. Outside seating on the sidewalk with a lovely view of the parking lot in a strip mall not so much. That kind of seating works for Chipotle not a "restaurant". Service: Horrible service and staff. Period. Slow and painful. Watched one server bare hand a fish with flies all over it to a table to show the customers. Gross. Food: If you like bland over priced fried food this is your place. Most everything comes in a plastic basket and is usually cold. Price: Prices are outrageous for what the food is. $28 for a fried fish basket is insane. Also watch your bill. Our last experience they had one lobster left so the two people at the table that wanted lobster agreed to split it. When they gave us the check they charged us $30 something for one half and $40 something for the other. Seriously. Save your time and money and don't bother giving this place your business. You can go right across the street to Bonefish and get better food and service for half the price. read more

I finally got a chance to go here. It was a good place, not great but good. The margarita I had was good, I could taste the house tequila and it tasted cheap but I did get a buzz off one drink and once I let the flavors set in it got better. Started with the sauteed octopus and I've had better. Now I've never had it sauteed but the grilled was $6 dollars more, I could not understand why. It's the same dish just cooked different yet they charge $6 more for the technique...stupid. The octopus still had a bit rubbery to it it wasn't all that, I bet the grillesqpuld have been better but I wasn't paying $6 extra dollars Next I had the Cod and Shrimp combo. The fries were super fresh and yummy, it could use more seasoning the fish and shrimp were ok. There is sso much on the menu that it gets overwhelmed but I will definitely try this place again. I have high hopes I will find something o the menu that wows me. The staff was pleasant. My waiter (forgot her name) must have been the manager she was a bit much. The way she spoke to the workers was more of a annoying yet kind way. If so .nething wasn't right was talking to other employees about what the other employee didn't do kind seemed like a bit gossipy. If something is wrong to talk to the one employee then leave it be and for goodness sakes don't do it where the customers can see and hear take it to the back. read more

Tin fish is one of my favorite seafood restaurants. Small and cozy with both indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of options to choose from the menu. Today we started with the conch fritters...not the best I've had but they were decent! I had the warm lobster roll with a side Caesar salad (substituted the fries for salad). Very tasty!!! It was my birthday and my mother in law asked me if I wanted a cocktail for my birthday...the waitress over heard her say that and when I finished having dinner she surprised me with a slice of cheesecake. It was delicious as well and made my heart very happy thank you read more

Food was amazing and so was the service. Very rare quality to find in the industry right now

Where shall I begin to describe this dining experience? Soooo lets begin: small, super casual, loud place. 1. We were seated in a table inside which felt much like being sat in a table in the middle of time square! Near misses 100% of the time. Servers rushing, carrying food, drinks, others picking up food orders in the same spot, walking in/out of the kitchen - I did ask to be moved , and they graciously did so. Thumbs up for that. 2. Food was fresh. And by fresh I mean the fish. Cole slaw has good reviews for others but I must say when eating coleslaw one should not stop and say - hmmmm what is in that? The taste left much to be desired. Fried clams - mediocre. 3. A hostess literally grabbed a whole fish, put it over her head to show a patron , put it back on the ice and proceeded to continue serving others with dirty hands!!! 4. Staff conversation right behind us of who slept with who? WHAT???!!!! Exactly. 5. Last but not least which is something I found strange and a bit disgusting - if u like your meal, you ring a bell - okay I can live with that. - However if you liked it a lot - you get to walk into their kitchen (with no hairnets, etc) and thank the chef??? Wait? Isn't that a restaurant code violation??? The chef should come out and greet the diners if need be - just bizarre that they'd do it in that way and that it's acceptable. We saw 3 ladies walk into the kitchen!!! 6. We wanted to like this place as it had many good reviews....but.... read more

Relied on trusty Yelp to find us somewhere to eat and it did not disappoint. Our party of 7 arrived at 8 pm on a Friday and while the restaurant was busy, we were able to be seated at one of their outside tables in 10 minutes. Their fans did an excellent job and you couldn't feel any of the humidity that South Florida is known for. We started off by ordering their Spicy Calamari which was delicious. A sweet and spicy sauce covered the calamari and cabbage and wasn't overly spicy at all. Then we ordered the lobster bisque which was very good as well, with a decent chunks of lobster. To round it off we ordered a dozen of the Cedar Key Oysters that were large and fresh. What we didn't order, but was a great gesture, was a shrimp and mahi grill combo that was given to us because the kitchen made an extra! It was seasoned well and enjoyed by the table. Another great gesture was that you can order one(or more) of several selected fish in the whole, in which our waitress brought out the tray voluntarily because one person in our group was interested. We saw several other tables in the restaurant order these whole fish and had them fried and served with either an Asian(soy, ginger, green onions, sugar) or Mediterranean (garlic, olive oil, tomatoes, onions) sauce. Additionally they come out and pour the sauce on the fish which makes for good pictures/videos. For main course those at the table ordered: "Big Fat Cheeseburger," which was large, Mahi Tacos, which were tasty and filling, blackened mahi, which has more flavor than just the grilled version, Shrimp Po' Boy, which was delicious and served on bread that seemed to be freshly baked, their "famous fish sandwich," which could satisfy a very hungry appetite, and fried catfish, which the person who ordered said to be delicious as well. In fewer words, you can't go wrong with anything available. We then ordered a slice of salted caramel cheesecake and carrot cake which were both quality and did not disappoint. Overall, Tin Fish is a restaurant with a great atmosphere, wait staff, and menu. We will surely be back! read more

Delicious fresh fish! Friendly and helpful service, food arrived quickly! The KaBoom Shrimp taco was sweet and spicy and crunchy and cheesy and delicious, fat, hot crinkle cuts fries and a vinegar-based coleslaw completed the tasty basket. Just dined last night and had a TERRIFIC meal! I was concerned about the wait time. The hostess would only tell me how many parties were ahead of me, I guess that's policy, so my date and I ate at the bar (which is my preference ) Well the staff was very friendly and the food was terrific. It's fun, just serious enough, just casual enough to really enjoy and relax. I've been a little stressed then spent a bunch of time at sawgrass mills and this place was the medicine I needed. I'm uploading three pictures. The raw oysters were terrific and the horseradish is fresh grated from root! The fish was delicious and the staff recommended the amazing carrot cake. Check it and and enjoy! read more

Was in Sunrise, so I figured I'd check this place out. Overall the experience was decent! Sat at the bar since it was full up (Sunday night) and the place is kinda small, only a handful of tables indoors. The outdoors tables were empty given the heat, but they have fans and misters to mitigate that if you prefer outside where it's quieter. Speaking of, it's pretty noisy, given the small space and the live music they often have in there on the weekends. The food was pretty tasty, I ordered the Sunrise Special, which is their fried tilapia sandwich with house made tartar sauce, hot sauce, slaw, a soft drink, and fries for $10. The sandwich was good, had a nice fresh bakery bun, the fish was crispy, hot, and not overcooked. With the tartar sauce and hot sauce, I'd say it ranked among the better fish sandwiches I've ever had. The french fries were nothing special, just crispy crinkle fries with old bay on them. The slaw was very well put together, but a little sweet for my taste (I prefer my slaw less sweet). I should mention the soft drink they gave me was a bit watery, I think they don't pay too much attention to how well their machine is mixing the soda water and syrup. If you're into alcohol, they certainly have it, as their bar was overflowing with bottles. The bar is not a great place to sit, between the small counter and the fact they keep live lobsters on ice right there on the counter, expect to be treated to the sight of crustaceans thrashing and struggling around getting ice chips everywhere. Atmosphere wise, it's your average crowded touristy place with looooots of fishing items all over the walls. Overall? Great place, I'd definitely eat there again. Next time I'll try their alligator tacos. ( Also, I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about, not once did I see any guests going into the kitchen or ringing a bell at their tables. That's kinda weird. ) read more
