Pretty so-so experience. We live closeby and wanted to check this place out, we love seafood. I waited at the hostess stand for 10 minutes while 5 different employees came by and none of them even looked in my direction. It was like I was a hassle to deal with. Anyone in customer service knows that all you have to do is say "we'll be right with you" but flat out avoiding me was just strange. Finally we sit down and our server was awesome. She was all over it. I had a spicy margarita for $16 that was basically saltwater so I wouldn't recommend that at all. We had the mahi fingers which were relatively good, but had to ask for lemon wedges and hot sauce which saved the day. The homemade sauce was honestly the best part of the entire meal. I then had a grilled snapper sandwich on an OK bun. Again, tartar sauce stole the show. The fries had to have been frozen from a plastic bag, but they were not the worst. Overall, we won't be back because of the value. Prices were so high for what you get it was almost shocking, especially for a spot in Sunrise tucked into a strip mall with a view of the parking lot. read more

Best oysters ever. New England Clam Chowder qnd fish sandwich were yummy and so were our drinks.Service was fantastic! No complaints.

Nice outdoor seating and live entertainment. The grouper was great as well as the Alaskan cod. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. I have to return to have their famous fish sandwich and their variety of seafood tacos. I didn't give it 5 Stars bc the misty fans ruined my hair. read more

Tin Fish - Live music and outdoor seating. Can't wait to try the food. So far our server is great! - New American Near Me - Sunrise, Florida

Over priced, poor quality, at $60 for lunch for 2 before tip, it was my first and last trip there. I met a friend there for lunch. He had a grouper sandwich and I had a fried cod and clam platter. The cod was closer to tilapia, the clam strips were tasteless. The fries we DISGUSTING. Everything needed salt and flavor. Pro tip chef, throwing some Old Bay on the fries doesn't count as seasoning the fish. My friend had to take his "blackened" grouper sandwich home so he could try to add some flavor to it. I left most of my meal behind. A disgusting meal ! read more

Great food Very fresh and well prepared in good weather great place to sit outdoors

Always amazing. The conch fritters are my favorite. Addictive! The owner and the team makes this spot feel like your home. You must try the snapper! Wonderful atmosphere. read more

Unfortunately the food was just ok and the service was just ok too. The waitress was new, so that's ok but looks like they were short staffed and disorganized. Sometimes we can let that slide especially these days, but the Ahi tuna was fishy. We had to send that back. We ordered Mahi tacos that someone else in the party was eating that were very good-unfortunately they took 30 minutes and we had to.pack them to go. Overall the food was ok. The service was not. read more

The food is quite good. We had gator and catfish platter, my child actually got the burger and he said it was juicy, and I got the kaboom shrimp which was very tasty. We urge you to be sure that your food is prepared correctly as my son's burger came with mayonnaise and tomatoes on top and no pickles at all on the plate when we order pickles on the side and new tomato and mayo. It took a very long time as one dish reserved and the rest of the food took 20 to 25 minutes to show up. So don't plan on eating together. The service sitting outside was good although we think he would probably get better service if you were inside and seen more often. Once we had a problem and we were annoyed with waiting for our food because we were hangry the server tended to get rather flustered. So we definitely would recommend a food and if we could give 3 1/2 stars for the service we would. And as soon as we were done we waited quite a long time to get our boxes to go and the receipt. Again we think there would be better service sitting inside. read more

Dont hesitate due to the bad reviews. I can see where it might be hit or miss on the service but that's because of how busy they can get because of how good they are. It also depends on your attitude! Sit back and relax. Enjoy a drink. Chat with the waiters! Ok. On to the food. The lobster bisque and Kaboom shrimp are a must. Hubby order a dozen different oysters and he said they were very fresh and tasty. Hubby had the Catfish and he said they were good. I wanted to order the whole fried fish but after the delicious appetizers I was already very full so I ordered the Mahi tacos. They were good but not mind-blowing. But it also could have been that I was so full. Did I mention that they have a decent wine selection? Or I could be saying that because they had a bottle of J Pinot Gris which happens to be one of my favorite Sonoma wineries. Hey! Tin Fish get some good Sonoma reds on the menu, I'll share my selection with you. Remember I told you I was full...well, when our waiter (omg I forgot his name, maybe I'll remember before I finish this post) starting describing the most delicious dessert ever, I ordered it. I don't think he ever said the name but when you see the pictures I'm sure you will order it. Keep in mind, the custard like cream in the dessert is truly mi d-blowing! It's not your average pudding tasting stuff. It's what dreams are made of!! By the way, we sat inside but the outside patio is very nice and felt pretty cool despite the high temperatures. It's got lots of fans and misting fans. We will return and I plan on tasting several martinis that went by us and looked delicious. We will also try the fresh whole fried fish. Hard to find a good laid back seafood "joint" as Chef called it. By the way, Chef came out to meet us, took pictures and was waiting on tables!! Totally hands-on!! That's when you really know his "joint" is going to be phenomenal!! read more

Unfortunately no longer on our list of places to dine at. We came here all the time with out of town guests as it was close to our house. The service and food quality has gone down horribly. I feel like I leave too many 5 star reviews, but there isn't a chance of leaving less than 5 for the experience we had tonight. As we left I told the server, "This is the best service and best food we've had in a while." I meant it, and I eat a lot of food. I found myself complimenting them among us throughout the night, and to be fair I didn't show up starving or with super high expectations either. From the moment we got there, the hostess promptly offered us the option to dine in or out. It was drizzling and although outside seemed very nice, there was live music inside and nobody else was outside, so we dined in. The only thing I pre-planned was the gator bites, but after being handed a menu I was even left speechless with literally a tin-plated menu. I haven't seen that one before. (I overheard a conversation of a waitress asking another if she had a clean towel, she said no, she was cleaning menu's with the one in her hand. That happened later in the evening but just hearing that they clean their menu's means they're a notch above most and figured I'd share that). Within 20 seconds, a waitress informed us she wasn't going to be our server that night, but she'd love to take our drink order while we wait. We opted to wait but that's one of many indications of rare teamwork and customer service that is hard to come by these days. Just a moment later, AJ shows up and introduces himself, and from the moment he did until the moment we left he seriously was the best server I can remember ever having. Super knowledgeable, super personable, and he seemed extremely genuine and interested in his job. There wasn't a single second he was off point. After reading other reviews and their company info, I'm sure he isn't the owner, but his excitement about being there and helping customers would convince you otherwise. If I could think of anyone who deserves a raise or at least recognition it's AJ. So, we did order gator bites, and as we reviewed the menu about what to order for the meal, it arrived. A perfect portion and cooked to perfection. If you're a party of 4 or more it might be an insufficient amount, but for 2 of us there was plenty. It was served on cabbage which was possibly garnish but we ate most of it since it was fresh and tasted great. As we ate that, we kept flipping back and forth between everything on the menu, but finally decided on: Lobster tacos: We shared the meal of 2, and even though we had different requests on how they were prepared, the cooks did an amazing job and they came out perfect without us having to modify them ourselves. Super flavorful. Although the only option for lobster was fried, it was hardly breaded if at all so the guilt was minimal. Pictures don't do justice but I was just happy I had enough discipline to wait 5 seconds to take the picture before digging in. It included perfectly cooked fries with old bay seasoning and garlic salt which was a perfect combo and not overboard. It included freshly grated cheddar, house made tangy garlic sauce and salsa. Home made vinegar based slaw was included The "small 5 oz grilled mahi". Thats how I ordered it and thats how I was charged but it must've been bigger than that, I feel like after sharing it equally we each had 5 ounces. That was also cooked to perfection and included tartar sauce and a side of veggies. It also came with home made vinegar based slaw which was unique yet awesome. Even though we were full, dessert was tempting since I wanted to see what else they had up their sleeve but we didn't want to push it. I must include that the live music was outstanding and very tipworthy, All of the staff was very cooperative with eachother, and although I mentioned it before I must stress AJ was the best server I can remember ever having. From his jokes to his knowledge, to even interpreting our reaction when he told us about specials and either going into more details or ditching the idea since he knew we didn't want it, he was on point. The drinks never got half empty. When I return I'll make a point to request him. The price wasn't cheap but wasn't expensive either for what we received. The size of the restaurant wasn't too big or small. I am assuming their service is consistent since the table next to us appeared to be regulars and super satisfied as well. In a nutshell if you don't read any the above, superior service and superior food! We left just over a 50% tip and felt like we should've left more. read more

I'm picky when it comes to fish. And I've tried several places. Most are expensive and the others are just ok. Tin Fish was not to expensive, the portions were small but the SEAFOOD was fresh and tasty! We enjoyed- Appetizer: Fried Calamari (wish they offered a better sauce than cocktail sauce) great taste regardless. Entree: Shrimp Tacos (2) comes w cabbage, salsa, cheese and juicy shrimp. Our first visit to tin Fish was on 2017, nothing has change since then 10 minutes waiting for the server when the restaurant was almost empty after 2:30 PM on Sunday, she didn't bring water, I was craving New England clam chowder as I tasted one a few weeks back at Kelly's Landing and it was amazing. But this chowder at Tin-fish was not good, it needed more seasoning and honestly needed clam flavor. My dish, fried snapper and chips was very bland and came before my son's chicken. The server said the chef put the chicken back because he was not ready I guess he put it back in the deep fryer and forgot about it because it came overcooked and dry. I had to ask the bosboy to call my server to bring water and to bring lemon she never came back to our table. Oh and I visited the toilet I couldn't use it because you know it wasn't working as someone needed to fix it with a plunger just disgusting. Waste of money read more

Just came back from Tin Fish. I was shocked to see a dog on a chair and on the table; also walking around the restaurant in the location of the owner. I questioned the presence of the dog inside-- there is a very large outside eating area-- and was told the owner feels it his place and he can do what he wants. Took a-picture of the dog roaming the restaurant on a leash On leaving a young server stated " Don 't come back". Of course I will not return but am appalled by this crass individual. The laws on Florida state that service dogs are allowed -this was not a service dog- and the dog should be on the floor at all times and outside. There are other fish places to patronize and if you have a dog that likes to eat with you this is the place for you and if you are concerned about cleanliness look elsewhere. I do not need to spend my hard earned money and have rudeness through in my face. read more

This neighborhood restaurant is super friendly and serves amazing seafood. Sit at the Oyster Bar and you will enjoy watching Dennis (yes he's back) shocking oysters. He is an artist, order them dirty and you will not regret it (caviar, sour cream, horseradish.. yummm) Chef Joseph enjoys mixing drinks for you (great Bloody Mary's) Don't miss the Sloppy Fish, delicious freshly fried cod chunks over a bed of sweet coleslaw, sour cream and hot sauce. I'd been to the Tin Fish in San Diego and liked it, and, knowing that there was some relation to this one though they're apparently owned by different entities, I thought it was worth a shot for a good fish sandwich. Yup. Quite good. Fresh fish prepared well, with extremely friendly service. Pleasant vibe that'll make you forget you're in a nondescript Sunrise strip mall (though it's also one with Doris market and New York Mart, so you can have a nice lunch and load up on fresh food to take home to cook, too). read more

Not only do I recommend Chef Joe's Tin Fish in Sunrise, I highly urge you to go as soon as possible! The sooner you get anything he makes on this incredible menu in your mouth the better you feel! I was in Florida for some training and after the day of expanding my mind, went looking for something different for dinner and found this place. I ordered the Gator taco after a recommendation by our wonderful waitress. I was hesitant when it arrived, but it looked and smelled great, so I dove in. It had a texture and taste that was similar to clam and shrimp and it was quite enjoyable. The decor in this place is kinda odd and dated, even for Florida, but as I've said in the past, I don't go to places for the decor. All in all I enjoyed it. Pricing wasn't bad either read more

I love this place and it has easily become on of my moms favorite places. The fish sandwiches are amazing. Nice big pieces of well seasoned grouper, Mahi or Alaskan cod. I also love the coleslaw that it's served with. I found out that they soak it for a day to incorporate all the flavors. They also have a full oyster bar inside with a bar and while fish to purchase from whatever catch the owner can get. I'm waiting for a special occasion to try the hog fish fried and cooked Asian style. Sometimes they also have live music outside which is always a bonus as it's hard to find those places in west Broward. The service is always excellent and on point. I feel like if you live in a coastal city like south Florida, that the fish is fresh should really go without saying... but it does not. The Fish was very fresh and prepared simply - grilled, blackened, or fried. Sauces (tartar, aioli, cocktail etc.) were made in house and tasted good. Portions are generous. Chips were prefab but hot and crispy and they do NOT taste fishy (meaning they are not re-using oil Full bar. Oyster bar. Fisherman's wharf decor conducive to groups and families or couples. Indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant serves raw oysters, ceviche, lobster, shellfish, snapper, octopus, mahi, cod etc AND it does NOT smell fishy ( going back to "fresh"). The food was very good as was the service. What they do here, they do well. I had mahi fingers which were super yummy and a meal on their own. Munchkin had veggies. We got a cod fish and chips, half of which I asked to be fired w the grilled octopus I took home for hubby. Octopus is tricky. Unless it's prepped well (massaged) it gets chewy almost as soon as it is cooked. It took 20 minutes to get home. Hubby ate half when I got home and half about 2 hours later. It never got chewy - which evidences very good preparation. That alone would merit a 5 star review. read more

Haven't had the pleasure of dining in but I've order takeout twice from this establishment. I order the shrimp po boy which was amazing.
