The folks that take care of the place are super friendly. Checking in 5/5* At check-in, there are complimentary sugar cookies and they give you a doggy bag which includes a tennis ball, Blue Buffalo dog treats, and a poobag. The lobby has cute lights, a rocking chair and a coffee station area serving local brewed coffee. The service is great and the sweet ladies always ask you how the room is to your liking. Location 5/5* Location is great with lots of free parking. It's close to the freeway but in quiet area, although the Mexican restaurant next door can get rowdy on weekends. Maverick is next to Starbucks and walking distance to a market, eateries, osen, and giftshop. Rooms 3.5/5* The rooms have all your basics: free wifi, tv, mini fridge, microwave, hairdryer, coffee maker, and shower amenities. There's a clipboard with rules and a free postcard. The bed was clean and comfy with a fluffy blanket and pillows so floofy that my dog tried to claim them. The corners and cracks aren't too clean, but it's a probably a small business, which was ok as long as the bed and bathroom are clean. Considering it's dog friendly and my dog didn't try to mark all the corners of the room, that's telling me they're doing something right with the cleaning. Conveniences 5/5* The convenience and extras are what make this place. They have smores ingredients to roast on the front patio fire pits 5-8pm Friday & Saturdays. The fire pits are turned on any time you're out there, without curfew. The breakfast area inside the lobby is open 24/7 to grab cereal, granola, applesauce, or granola bars. Breakfast is from 5:30am to 10am, which is so convenient for us when leaving early for hiking and for the last day when sleeping in. Although they are grab n go, there is a small rotating hot breakfast menu: biscuits & gravy or sausage omlette. And check-out is awesome at 12pm wow! I asked my doggo and he said he gave it two paws up. He loved his tennis ball and the easy access the the strip of lawn in the parking lot.

You must step up into each unit and the office. The bathroom door is narrow; you might be able to get in sideways with a walker, but not a Rollator. There are new low-sided tubs, and hooray! they provide a no-slip tub mat. So happy I didn't have to use mine. But no grab bars. I used the towel rack, but this worried me, because i could easily see it coming off the wall. Soap, shampoo, and conditioner is provided in the shower. But someone wasn't thinking during the bathroom remodel. The mirror over the sink was mounted above the tile. At 4'11", all I can (barely) see is the top of my head. If I need a mirror, I have to step into the hallway and use the big mirror on the closet door. But the only lighting comes from the bathroom, so putting on makeup is a crapshoot. I just hoped each day that I'd applied it evenly. The sink faucet ran endlessly unless you turned it way to one side. The toilet paper holder was right under the towel rack. Thank goodness the beds are not crazy high. I was able to easily get in and out. The mattresses are on the firmer side, but not rock-hard. Plenty of pillows are provided. There's a light blanket on the bed, another blanket in the closet (along with a safe and a suitcase rack). Rooms have mini-fridges and microwaves, and a small desk and work chair. There was also a big upholstered chair. There's plenty of lighting, and an A/C - heating unit under the window. It quickly cools or heats the room, but it doesn't reach the bathroom. The large-screen TV is nice, and gets lots of channels, and yet I had trouble finding anything I really wanted to watch. I didn't hear much noise from outside or other rooms, but no one was in the unit next to me during my stay. It's one story, so no upstairs, and there's plenty of parking. There are a couple of places outside where you can sit, and a soda machine. A continental breakfast is available in the office. A couple of fast-food places (Four Guys and Jimmy John's) are about two blocks away. Downtown Eugene is a few blocks away.

It's like he didn't know how to make conversation at all. Which is fine, whatever. But he "forgot" to tell me that you have to fill out a form for your breakfast order. He didn't say anything about it until I asked. Because of COVID, things are different so I wasn't sure if they even served breakfast. He also could not show me the direction of our room when I asked, so we walked around the hotel looking for the room. He acted as if we had been there before and knew our way around. Place needs to be updated. I get the old school hotel feel but the shower/bath tub was old. Best part was, I took the elevator at one point and found something that looked like a cigarette butt on the floor in the elevator. Looked closely and it was part of a joint! Weed! Came out and let the man at the front desk know, and it didn't seem to phase him. I guess it's normal even thought they don't allow smoking at the place.

We waited and hour until they told us. "The plane battery wont hold it's charge, we can't fix it. It needs replaced. The part will be here tomorrow. Your next flight is at 10am, go to the front desk area for more info." I rushed to the line in the front. And we waited and waited and waited for someone to even show up. It was probably a solid 45 minutes to an hour. Then she told us, you'll be getting $175 for the flight comp but no hotel. So I booked the closest hotel. 6 miles away, $110 for the night. This Hotel! The plane was full and half of the plane didn't even wait in line, they waited for ubers and lyfts. And by the time I requested an uber they took all the ubers on the road and it's now past midnight. I requested a refund within an hour of booking to cut me some slack! I now have a hotel room waiting for me that I can't even get to. So I wasted $110 from the $175 they gave me. Couldn't get an uber. Also, NO FOOD. I'm starving!! I purposefully didn't eat so I'd be hungry when I landed. Everything was closed except for 2 vending machines. 1 machine was for drinks which was OUT OF ORDER. And I was dehydrated. And the other was junk food. So for dinner at 1am I had a bag of chex mix. Slept at the airport for 3 hours since it was so cold. It was just an awful night. I then wake up to a charge of $110 for the hotel that nobody slept in. So thank you Budget Lodge Eugene, you guys were awesome! So awesome that I'll be sure to never book again.

We tried to get clean towels the second day but could not get housekeeping's attention. We stayed two nights, picking this hotel because we could walk to The Cuthbert and it had a pool. But when we arrived we were told there was an overchlorination issue, and someone would come around 9am to address it. Our room was next to the pool, so we watched and checked, and waited. But no one came. And when we asked again they said that the pump was broken. And later some other man that works there made the comment that "it always happens on our busiest weekends". We could hear the pump humming and see the water circulating in the pool. I assume that we were not allowed to use the pool because of a distrust of the hippie crowd, most of the people staying there were going to String Cheese Incident. I don't really know, maybe there was some other reason, but we didn't feel like they were honest. The other thing to note is that this hotel comes with "continental breakfast" which varied from day to day. One day was prepackaged Danish, yogurt, and bananas. Another day was bagels and cereal. There was hot coffee with real half and half both days. The AC was cold, but noisy, and kept us comfortable. Honestly, the pool was a big issue, and would have earned this budget hotel at least one more star. We travel to Eugene often for shows, and are more likely to stay at Guesthouse Inn and Suites (in Springfield) next time. We stayed there the weekend before and were 100% satisfied.

The air conditioner worked well in our room (109), but was loud -- and we needed to run it all night. The vinyl floor in the bathroom was dirty and stained, there was mould and dirt in the corners, and rust in the tub. The old tile had been painted over, but the paint was flaking off. The internet was good when it worked. On our final morning, we reported to Britney at the front desk that the hotel Internet was not working at all, even though we had a good WiFi signal. She said that she would try to fix it by restarting their router. An hour later, nothing had changed, and I went to see if things worked any better in the office -- they did not. It turned out that Britney had actually done nothing, because "the internet works fine on my phone". I had to explain to her that her phone had its own internet connection over the cellular network, and wasn't using the hotel's connection, which I demonstrated was not working in front of her. I don't know if she took any action after that; we had to leave before we got Internet.
