About 10 years ago, we used to live in Eugene. My wife has family that lives in the area and we come to visit on a regular basis. Usually, we stay with family. This time we decided to stay in a local hotel. We typically try to stay with the Hilton brand and chose to stay in this Tru location which is convenient to both Interstate 5 and stops in Eugene or Springfield. It is also convenient for those in town for campus related events at the U of O. We booked our stay online and as usual, checked in via the Hilton app. When we arrived, we decided to get keys from the front desk, primarily because our past experiences with using the digital keys to unlock doors has been a miss roughly 10 to 20% of the time. The entry, lobby and outside appears to be well taken care of. We stayed here for a total of five nights. Our experience was quiet, clean and comfortable, everything we look for in a hotel.

We booked this hotel last minute for a memorial service and the price was *really* high. The Ducks had their spring game and the Eugene Marathon was that weekend (ran right by and not too far from the start/finish) so I get that it was demand. To be fair, Motel 6 was only advertising rates about $60 cheaper and this was by far a better deal. The hotel is dog friendly so there were a lot of fuzzy guests. This means that there is little carpet so people with allergies likely need not worry. Our room overlooked the Willamette River and had a gorgeous view. It was an accessible room (literally the only one left) which meant we had a lot of space because accessible rooms are designed to make sure chair users can get around. It also meant the tub sides were low and there was a shower chair and grab bars. They also had a blackout curtain shade in addition to the curtains. Room had a small fridge. The staff were really great. Check in, check out, and bag pick up (we left them so we didn't have them sitting in the car during the ceremony) were super easy. The breakfast staff were so nice. A friend came by w her kids and we were in the lobby chatting just after breakfast and they gave them little treats. Breakfast is plain yogurt out of a machine, a pancake maker, oatmeal, and we had sausage and egg both mornings. There are cereals and a variety of breads and pastries. Milk and juice are also available. However! The coffee is super strong. Parking later at night was tricky because some of y'alls need to learn to keep your wheels in the line, especially when hotels are at capacity. It abuts two other hotels (Candlewood and a Fairfield) with a long parking lot. Parking was free. I would stay again.

We had an over-night in Eugene and booked the night before arrival. Our room had comfy beds and a clean room/washroom. The breakfast station was decent, all the usual offerings.

My stay at Tru was AMAZING!! I stayed here recently with my boyfriend and we were welcomed in the first morning we got there! John at the front desk was very accommodating to us and very very kind. The lady helping out with morning breakfast was also amazing! She really out here soloing everything and doing amazing at that! I also wanted to say how friendly nightly staff was at the front desk, everyone was so kind to my boyfriend and I, and I can't wait to return someday! Thank you everyone who we saw and introduced ourselves to!

I usually find it suspicious if a hotel offers free breakfast. The food quality is typically not worth ingesting. However, Tru had a decent breakfast sandwich comparable to something from Starbucks. Bold lavazza coffee brewed properly, real cream and orange juice that was not excessively diluted we're all good. For a quick breakfast this was not bad at all. The rooms remind me of IKEA but I think it is a nice non-luxury concept - there's no wardrobe or closet so your clothes stay in your luggage. I liked the soap and shampoo dispensers instead of those arcane little bottles. The A/C was super cool and shower head had good water pressure. Parking access and proximity to the elevator was efficient. Nice European hostel-esque lobby.

I enjoyed this hotel. I liked the hard wood floors for the room, the spacious bathroom and the vibrant colors which gave off a young modern vibe. I would stay here again when visiting.

    It's the Willamette, dam it!

I've seen the light, and my hotel choices for the future are pretty much Hilton or Best Western properties now. Tru is consistently good - probably because the properties are among the newest in the Hilton portfolio. Really good views of the Willamette as well from the upper floors. Only drawback is the small fridge and no microwave in the room, otherwise, great rooms and great service.

They also have a happy hour with regional wine, bubbles, and local beer for really reasonable prices if you just need a refresher after getting back to the hotel. Check-in was smooth, and the staff member who greeted us was genuinely pleasant and cool, giving us some extra water and few green bags of goodies (returned the next day), promising to wave the parking fee. That's where the positives ended. After a long drive, we dropped our bags in da rooms and went out for a dinner without inspecting our rooms a bit closely. When we returned later that night and checked the beds with a UV light, we were shocked to find stains on both beds. It was darn disturbing (photos attached)! We went down to the front desk to report it. The night staff told us there was no one available to change the linens and no other rooms available to change at full occupancy. Instead, we were handed a set of sheets and sent back to deal with it ourselves. After 10 PM, exhausted, we had no real choice but to accept it. In the morning, we raised the issue again with the new front desk rep. The replacement sheets were not much better, and despite our complaint, the response was limited to verbal apologies only. We were still charged full price for the night, plus a $20 parking fee for overfilled parking lot that's essentially had open access from the street. This is not the level of cleanliness or service expected from a Hyatt. Do your due diligence and do not assume standards are being met. Check your room carefully before settling in. Breakfast on the other hand was great! Variety of eggs, milks and healthy choices beat other Hyatt locations we stated at the next day in Portland. Loved it, and that what basically got the stars.

Not mentioned in any reviews that I read prior to staying here: a mainline of the Union Pacific Railroad is just three blocks away. At least three times during the dead of night, trains came through with the horns blowing loudly at each of many crossings through this part of Eugene. Unbelievably loud!!! People living in this area must be able to tune it out, but we were NOT used to this. Because the Campbell House is up a hill from the railroad, it seems that horns can be heard unimpeded by other structures (despite the massive 18 floor Ya-Po-Ah Terrace building nearby). I would suggest wearing ear plugs during the night. Nevertheless, I would consider staying hear again if traveling on my own, but my wife would probably veto it we were both traveling. We left sleep deprived to begin our 7+ hour drive home.

If you complain to the desk about this the desk tells you to email Parking Management or call them. They "do not answer" their phone and they do not respond to emails. A lot of guests told me they park on the street instead, which is a little dicey given the number of homeless that prowl the streets at night. Unless you are staying just 1 or 2 nights it feels like a rip off to pay $15.50 per night to stay in a non resort hotel. This place has really gone down hill. I could say many other things but I won't because the staff is good, the breakfast is nice, and I like the fact that it is easy to take a nice walk from this location but be prepared because there are many drunken and crazy people walking the streets.
