    Premium King with Fireplace
    Tina V.

My husband and I spent a night at the inn on our drive back from Seattle to CA. We had been up since 4am and when we arrived to check in, we were warmly and enthusiastically greeted by Hope at the front desk. She gave us great recommendations for local restaurants/bars as well as shops we could visit that were within walking distance. We were also told about the complimentary snacks/drinks as well which were a nice touch. The lobby was very nicely decorated and welcoming. We booked a premium king room which included a fireplace. As the weather was particularly chilly during our visit, the fireplace was so nice to have; I just wished we could allow it to run all night rather auto shut off after 120 min. We valeted our car and the attendants were super friendly and thoughtful. We made our journey back to CA at 5 in the morning and the attendant made sure to warm up the car for us beforehand. :) We are looking forward to heading back to Eugene to be able to spend more time exploring. The people here are all so friendly and the boutique shops had unique offerings I couldn't purchase at home.

The staff was so friendly and welcoming! Everything is walking distance, beds were so comfy! Enjoyed the walk to the coffee shops and restaurants connected to the hotel! I needed some comfortable shoes, I headed down stairs to the small boutique next to the ATM!

A bit late with posting... the best thing this place has going for them was the friendly desk staff. We had high hopes on this scheduled trip to visit my daughter. Decided to try something new and stay at the In. at the 5th...big mistake. The room was filthy! This trip during Covid times when places boast cleanliness this was certainly not the case here. Too bad as the location is perfect and I wish I could make this our go to place for our quarterly visits to Oregon but NOPE! Also they talk about a lovely snack section available throughout your stay and it's just low end candy and soda. How about some fruit, nuts etc. The coolest part was the touch-less room service delivery, it's a separate small door where items can be left available for you to grab from in your room. I really wish the experience was better as I'm so sorry to be writing this!

This is supposed to be an upscale hotel? You would think so, from the prices they charge. I could not believe how dirty it was. The carpets were stained, as was the window seat cushion. The walls were scuffed and there was dirt in all areas of the bathroom. I was actually shocked. The wood cabinets were dry and looked so cheap. I would not have even expected that from hotels/motels charging half as much. We were there for a week and at one point I saw a small leaf on the floor under the desk and was going to pick it up but then thought, oh, let me see if they vacuum there. Sure enough, when we got back to the room, the leaf was still there. Yikes. They give out plenty of free snacks but that would not prompt me to go back. The staff was very polite, and we loved the valet guys. We also thought the bed was very comfortable. But . . . take a look at the photos I took.

Beautiful hotel with a fabulous location. The rooms and bathrooms were great, excellent linens, and particularly enjoyed the fireplace and balcony. Housekeepings attention to detail was nice when they cleared the plate and knife we used for charcuterie they brought a new one. Do be warned however that the internet is terrible! They might as well have dial up! Took 3 minutes to load a docusign I had to get out. And they have totally removed the ability to smart stream from your computer to the Tv and have no streaming Apps at all on the TV so unless you like basic cable the nice big TVs are pretty much decorative. That was a big disappointment as we specifically booked the room with a fireplace for a mother daughter movie night. Felt archaic in this day and age that we gathered around a laptop and at that the buffering meant the movie was impossible to watch with the Internet speed. I gave that a D-...but all else an A!

Check-in was smooth, and the staff member who greeted us was genuinely pleasant and cool, giving us some extra water and few green bags of goodies (returned the next day), promising to wave the parking fee. That's where the positives ended. After a long drive, we dropped our bags in da rooms and went out for a dinner without inspecting our rooms a bit closely. When we returned later that night and checked the beds with a UV light, we were shocked to find stains on both beds. It was darn disturbing (photos attached)! We went down to the front desk to report it. The night staff told us there was no one available to change the linens and no other rooms available to change at full occupancy. Instead, we were handed a set of sheets and sent back to deal with it ourselves. After 10 PM, exhausted, we had no real choice but to accept it. In the morning, we raised the issue again with the new front desk rep. The replacement sheets were not much better, and despite our complaint, the response was limited to verbal apologies only. We were still charged full price for the night, plus a $20 parking fee for overfilled parking lot that's essentially had open access from the street. This is not the level of cleanliness or service expected from a Hyatt. Do your due diligence and do not assume standards are being met. Check your room carefully before settling in. Breakfast on the other hand was great! Variety of eggs, milks and healthy choices beat other Hyatt locations we stated at the next day in Portland. Loved it, and that what basically got the stars.

Not mentioned in any reviews that I read prior to staying here: a mainline of the Union Pacific Railroad is just three blocks away. At least three times during the dead of night, trains came through with the horns blowing loudly at each of many crossings through this part of Eugene. Unbelievably loud!!! People living in this area must be able to tune it out, but we were NOT used to this. Because the Campbell House is up a hill from the railroad, it seems that horns can be heard unimpeded by other structures (despite the massive 18 floor Ya-Po-Ah Terrace building nearby). I would suggest wearing ear plugs during the night. Nevertheless, I would consider staying hear again if traveling on my own, but my wife would probably veto it we were both traveling. We left sleep deprived to begin our 7+ hour drive home.

If you complain to the desk about this the desk tells you to email Parking Management or call them. They "do not answer" their phone and they do not respond to emails. A lot of guests told me they park on the street instead, which is a little dicey given the number of homeless that prowl the streets at night. Unless you are staying just 1 or 2 nights it feels like a rip off to pay $15.50 per night to stay in a non resort hotel. This place has really gone down hill. I could say many other things but I won't because the staff is good, the breakfast is nice, and I like the fact that it is easy to take a nice walk from this location but be prepared because there are many drunken and crazy people walking the streets.
