After 13 hours on the road it was nice to have a good clean room with a comfortable bed. My husband commented on the bed linens as we thought they must have been new. They had a really nice crispness and freshness to them and just felt different from the normal linens that are usually used. The room also had a nice sitting area. The check in staff was very friendly and nice. The only problem with our room #121 is that it is right across from the housekeeping unit and we were woken up early by the sounds of staff organizing their carts. The breakfast buffet was very good. It was the standard food that is on most breakfast buffets but it was well prepared and tasty. read more

Man at the front didn't seem genuine. Just doing his job. Not everyone can be naturally friendly I guess. He did not say anything else besides "have a good night" every time I walked past. It's like he didn't know how to make conversation at all. Which is fine, whatever. But he "forgot" to tell me that you have to fill out a form for your breakfast order. He didn't say anything about it until I asked. Because of COVID, things are different so I wasn't sure if they even served breakfast. He also could not show me the direction of our room when I asked, so we walked around the hotel looking for the room. He acted as if we had been there before and knew our way around. Place needs to be updated. I get the old school hotel feel but the shower/bath tub was old. Best part was, I took the elevator at one point and found something that looked like a cigarette butt on the floor in the elevator. Looked closely and it was part of a joint! Weed! Came out and let the man at the front desk know, and it didn't seem to phase him. I guess it's normal even thought they don't allow smoking at the place. read more

I was pretty happy here. Is this a five star hotel? No. But it provides a great room (really huge, actually), decent bathroom, living quarters, mini-fridge, microwave, free wifi, etc., etc. at a completely reasonable price. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The breakfasts in the morning are great. They have belgian waffles, which I happen to have a weakness for. The location is pretty good. It is within walking distance to the U of O campus (I stayed here during a conference and walked to and from the Law School building each day). Changed review from 1 star to 3. Booked this over one month ago, received a handicap room. When asked to change rooms as we are not handicapped was told "I don't know why you booked online but we are all sold out" I don't know why I booked online either at this point. Parking lot is quarter full so your telling me there isn't one room we can't transfer too on a first come first serve basis? such a response gives me some many reasons to pick at every experience having made here. I don't know why I booked online, who doesn't book online ? Considering there are no handicap guests can I park in handicap too? Or should I have asked that when I booked online? UPDATE: after a second time urging the front desk to change rooms this is my understanding...When we booked online we booked a room thru hotels.com or some other site(can't remember), it did not specify this was a handicap room. So the rate it was purchased at which was a good rate does not qualify us to change rooms because we purchased THAT room specifically is what the front desk was telling me from my understanding. So when offering to pay more we were still denied unfortunately. So here is my main argument; BOTH the hotel and it's vendor are selling handicap rooms to a non handicap person months in advance at a special rate because it is a less desirable room but shouldn't you keep the room available for a handicap person like you do parking ? Changed the review from 1 to 3 stars because we were able to cancel with full refund but it was a challenge. Handicap persons deserve a better room than that too, right next to the elevator which is noisy as hell and the AC outside the windows are noisy too. I found the property wanting. Starting with the front desk and lobby, the staff seem far more concerned with things other than the convenience of the guests. For example, I was struggling to get a luggage cart through the front door and staff were standing nearby DOING NOTHING to help. Only after I managed to get awkwardly through the door did one belatedly offer to help. Crazy. Check in took way too long. The desk was inefficient and short staffed. The breakfast was weak; not much on offer. the breakfast room did not seem to have dedicated staff to refresh items as used. read more

"Corvo" at the front desk was friendly and helpful in choosing a quiet room and attentive to our requests for extra towels and blankets. Note that my review is particularly low given that I was charged $150 for the "accessible" room, which I was assured was "virtually the same" as other rooms, and which I can't help but think would have been just as disappointing to anyone who regularly requests accessible rooms. I suppose "accessibility" means it's located just alongside the elevator, but for someone who is virtually imperturbable at night, the constant groaning of the elevator's machinations made for a genuinely restless night. The bed was like a swaybacked mare. The window looked out onto ceiling air units every which way, with the merest narrow vista of a freeway. Dismal and dark. Indoor lighting required at all times. I was exhausted and still completely unable to sleep. Hoping to refresh myself in the shower, I found that to the Phoenix, "accessible" means that anyone with mobility issues is inordinately sensitive to anything but substandard water pressure drizzled upon them from a height of 4 feet above the horizon. This was singularly disappointing, as I dislike trying to contort myself for the meek pleasure of sub-urinary aquatic force. A bonus star for the fact they troubled with even having a hair dryer, even if it did get hot as magma and smell like burning hair even from 15 inches away. Also for the petite patio out back where you can take your breakfast plate. The eggs, liquefied and pressed into perfect ovals, were terrifying, but I needed protein, and happily I did not die. No ducks attacked me from the patio. So there's that. read more

This was a pretty decent stay. The pros: They left us alone, bed was very comfy, there was breakfast layed out in their common room area, cereal, juice, eggs, donuts, etc, it was a very nice display. Hot tub in the room worked well, staff was nice. There was wifi, computer, pool, workout area, elevators, soda machine right outside our room, and again, they left us the hell alone. The lobby was inviting, open, and easy to navigate. The cons: Bathroom the size of utility closet with little to no ventilation. Minor stains on carpet, damage to front door, rust in bathroom. The sound of every other door on our floor slamming at all hours. Screen on our window was all jacked. Smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag from previous guest, I presume they smoked inside and did not want to get caught? I was told they are remodeling and I think that's a good idea. This was a nice place overall but could stand a bit of sprucing up. Still provided us with a great, safe, warm spot to spend new years eve together. We will return after renovations to stay again. read more

For $109 a night, this one of the best roadtrip motels I have stayed in. Pool/jacuzzi were relaxing, bedroom was nice with a good firm bed and great couch and even a little kitchenette! Free breakfast just right too. All in all, just right. For Comparison, we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express for $160. Fake fireplace was a waste, no couch, no kitchenette, the staff were totally overwhelmed at breakfast. read more

I pretty much know next to nothing about hotels, but I CAN say that I've been to many, many 5 star luxury hotels. This is the favorite one I've been to. Maybe it's the home-y feeling, or the way the staff greets you cheerfully with a tray of peanut butter cookies on the counter, or how the room graciously offers you a large space with a large window. The Phoenix Inn is my favorite place to stay (and my parents' favorite place to stay)! The only time we stay anywhere else is when the Phoenix Inn is all booked up. I usually stay here with my parents at the beginning on the year during the days that they help me move back into my apartment for the school year. The hotel staff is incredibly accommodating! We always request a ground floor room to make it easier to move all my stuff around and they always make sure they can accommodate our request! We always look forward to the complimentary continental breakfast in the mornings available from 6-10am. It's also the perfect location if you're in town to visit the University. My parents were able to walk from the hotel and easily meet me on campus within 10-15 minutes. The hotel also has a very convenient shuttle service for airport transportation. read more

The staff at the Pheonix Inn is SO friendly, and the close proximity to campus is unbeatable. I was also able to park my car there for my weeklong stay with no issues whatsoever. Every night, they make cookies and leave them by the receptionist. So good! I also used the hotel gym, which was adequate. The continental breakfast was not as good as I was expecting. Everything tasted "off," but I'm really not sure why that was. I also think that the bathrooms in the rooms could use renovations. Our toilet seat was chipped and the shower looked like it had seen better days. The shampoo and body wash came out of a soap dispenser attached to the wall, which felt less than homey. Still, though, this is not a bad place to stay at all. I enjoyed my time there. read more

I have stayed at the Phoenix Inn 5 times now and feel I can give it a proper review. Good 1. Great Location: It's right between downtown and the University of Oregon so you can walk to events rather easily or use the nearby public transportation. 2. Decor: Clean, simple, non fussy. 3. Comfortable Beds: I have always had a great night's sleep in each time I stayed there. 4. Transportation: Cab service at this location is pretty quick and the bus is very close by. 5. Food: Large grocery store less than 5 minute drive away as well as many restaurants. The hotel also has free breakfast in the morning. 6. Parking: Free, need I say more 7. Staff: Friendly and quick. 8. Lobby: Comfortable and welcoming. You can sit and wait for your ride or read the paper and feel quite comfortable. 9. Price: Provided it isn't a Duck Game Weekend, the prices are very reasonable. 10. A lot of the rooms have a little bar with a sink, mini-fridge, and microwave for those nights when you just want to relax and enjoy a meal in the room. So handy! Not so good 1. Parking spots are narrow. 2. Some of the showers have really slow drains (had slow drains in 3 of the 5 rooms I stayed in) 3. No lotion. There is soap and shampoo though. 4. Slow Wi-Fi. Fine for checking emails and surfing but not so much for streaming video. Other than a few tiny things, I am very glad to recommend Phoenix Inn as a reliable and comfortable place to stay for both business and recreation travel. read more

This is the perfect place for a family if you choose not to go the AirBNB route. The staff was phenomenal. The rooms were 4 stars. What earned that 5th start was the continental breakfast. Breakfast was really awesome! For a family of 6, the breakfast alone saved us $60/per day. Best part of the stay for the kids was the indoor swimming pool (small but well kept). This hotel is the perfect place to stay while visiting UO for a duck game since it is both walking distance to campus and Autzen Stadium. Plus, during some game weekends where other hotels require a minimum two night stay, you might be able to get a room here for just one night. Somewhat recently renovated, the Phoenix Inn has spacious rooms and helpful staff members. I once forgot my phone charger and the front desk staff was able to lend me one for the duration of my stay. Also, stop by the front desk for cookies and coffee. There is usually an abundance of both. Room rates are generally reasonable ($105-$125 a night unless there is a special event) and have mini fridges and free wifi. There is also a continental breakfast available. Parking is free, just make sure to ask for a parking pass when you check-in. read more

I've thought about this review for a couple hours. Many issues during my very short stay at the Phoenix Inn Suites. 1. My daughter and I arrived late and I was told that they didn't allow dogs. My daughter has a letter from her provider stating she needs the pet for emotional support. My daughter ended up driving home which is an hour away. 2. I asked about airport shuttle. I was told that I had to schedule that 24 hours in advance. Many people arrive at hotels just to sleep. Making it nearly impossible to give 24 hours. They were not interested in providing any other help. 3. It was incredibly noisy. Traffics noise outside and hallway noise with people. I spent exactly 6 hours at this place and I will not return. I travel a great deal for my job and stay in hotels frequently. There is a reason why this was one of the few rooms available in the town. read more

We loved our stay here! Beautiful room on the top floor overlooking colorful trees and cute little creek. The room was very spacious-- had two flat screens, a king bed, and a couch. The bed was so comfortable, I could've stayed in it forever. Tons of channels, too. The front desk people were helpful and very friendly. We mentioned visiting some of the breweries and they gave us a list of all of the breweries with their hours and addresses. Cool. They offer hot coffee/tea/hot chocolate 24/7 and as we were grabbing a cup, the front desk woman brought us out fresh chocolate, caramel cookies- to die for. The continental breakfast is a little questionable (I don't recommend eating the eggs), but they have a variety of things, as well as a patio to eat on that overlooks the creek. read more

A relatively new "suites" motel on the northwest corner of the UO campus. The rooms are large and clean. It has a large breakfast room with ample breads, waffles, eggs and sausage in the morning. In nice weather, the breakfast room extends onto a patio above the campus Millrace. The king size beds are fabulous. I'd want to spend a weekend on one. The drawback in a suite is that you can't really see the small TVs from the beds. They're tucked in an amoire facing the little sitting areas in the room configuration. The other gripe is that the bathrooms have a very loud fan connected to the light switch. So if you're staying with another person, they're going to hear a small jet engine when you get up in the middle of the night to use the facilities. I consider that a drawback when comparing this property to a Comfort Suites or similar competitor. Also, in fairness, I tried to use the hotel's website to relay these comments to the manager but their web e-mail was down. read more

Thumbs way up!! I checked in very late after a long day of driving and was really just looking for a decent, clean place to lay my head. When I arrived, this far exceeded my expectations. Hotel lobby is very clean and hotel staff was very kind and flexible. (For example, I was booked on 4th floor originally, but was so exhausted from travel- I didn't want to have to lug all my luggage to top floor. The front desk staff helped me get a room on floor 1 and also close to my car.) The room was large with two queen beds.. VERY clean and nice quality furnishings. Equipped with all the basics of course, microwave, frig, hair dryer, flat screen TV, but I noted too the temperature regulated synthetic down comforter on the beds. I love those! I slept well and I would definitely stay here again!! I didn't utilize it- but they have indoor pool and hot tub too. read more

I was really disappointed tonight when, for some inexplicable reason, the night clerk would not let my adult son book a room. Three generations of my family has stayed there many times over the past few years, and have always had a pleasant experience. Tonight, my son's car broke down on his way to Portland and he tried to book a room. The woman was rude and would not assist him in any way, even to do as little as to suggest another hotel. I was so surprised when I heard about her behavior, I called them myself. Sure enough, the woman was rude and offered no help and no explanation. Reading through another review site, I realized we're not the only ones who were treated rudely by the female night clerk. We won't be staying there again, and I'll be filing a formal complaint. My son needed a place to stay, and what has always been a safe haven was nothing like what we'd come to expect. VERY disappointing! read more

We just got back from a wedding in Eugene. I found a GREAT rate on Hotwire and went with it. The service was great - the staff was always friendly. The fresh baked cookies in the afternoon were a nice touch. The breakfast was OK - according to another reviewer they served bacon and sausage at one time? Well, not during my stay! They only served funny square eggs that were a bit cold along with tortillas and cheese which wasn't too bad. However they also had HORRIBLE salsa in a packet - DO NOT GO THERE, people! They also served biscuits, gravy, dull pastries, etc. The coffee (with real cream!) was pretty good and they had a nice selection of juices and teas. Stick with the instant oatmeal and cereal, fruit, bagels & English muffins - you can't go wrong with that. Moving on to the room - we stayed in a double. There were two sinks, which is a bit unusual and most welcome! Very nice. There was a love seat in the "living area" along with a large desk. The beds were absolutely FABULOUS!!!!!!!!! I have never slept so well in a hotel room in my life! Really comfy mattresses - not too soft, not too firm. The decor was fine. The room was clean as was the bathroom. Coffeemaker and coffee, along with a microwave and fridge, which we did not have the opportunity to use. The only issue I had was on the last morning we were there. I had breakfast BEFORE taking a shower. BIG MISTAKE. There was no hot water left. Luckily, I don't mind cold showers, but really, how does a hotel run out of hot water? I did not let the staff know as it wasn't a huge deal and I was in a hurry. Also, we got two 5:30 am wake up calls that we did not ask for. That was not fun, but since the beds were so comfy it did not really matter - we were able to fall back to sleep. All in all, nice place, especially for the price. The rooms on the street side are a little noisy because of the commuter trains, but the creek side rooms are more peaceful with a nice view. They tried to con me into paying $98 one night- and then $160 the next night (not a weekend) after telling me it was $98 a night and the check-in process on it own was a nightmare and she didn't even mention that the rooms would be different prices until I said something. Staying here was a struggle each step of the way to the point where I had to be super on guard and defend myself because nobody knew what was going on-even though I had called in before arrival and had everything all set up. I'm afraid that this place has my credit card number. For a super basic and outdated room you should at least provide decent customer service to compensate for the very "meh" vibe of everything else here. read more

If you believe in cannabis, cannabis freedom, or cannabis medicine, DO NOT stay at this hotel under any circumstance! When I checked in, the room smelled like a bad combination of vomit cleaned up by chemicals. I had legal cannabis oil that I bought at a legal store that I left open on my dresser to cover the smell. Someone complained about the smell and I got a knock on my door from hotel staff, There was no smoke in my room which their employee confirmed. However they kicked me out of the hotel at 9:00 p.m. saying they were zero tolerance. the hotel said I was not allowed to have any cannabis on my person even if I was not smoking in my room. I said I would put it in my vehicle, however that was not good enough for them. I am 47 years old and travel all over the country with cannabis medicine. I have never ever had an issue anywhere. No warning, no courtesy call, just kicked me out on the spot. Cannabis is completely legal for adults in Oregon. The hotel is completely out of line. No one that believes in cannabis or the rule of law should ever stay there. Shame on them read more
