So, this place was actually really cool and comfortable. We stayed here in March 2021. What I liked was that the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower head was awesome with good water pressure. I liked the retro theme. Heater worked great. Staff was friendly. I liked that there were laminate floors instead of carpet and the parking was good too. We originally booked 2 nights but had no problem adding a third. The room had everything we needed so we felt like we didn't want to go anywhere else. There was a Coffee maker and mini fridge and the price was perfect. read more

I was in Eugene for less than 24 hours and really just wanted a clean room and comfortable bed. This place far exceeded my expectations. It is an older motel that still utilizes actual keys to access the rooms. But it was obviously updated recently. The lobby is cute and has a bar offering local beers on tap as well as kombucha. I checked in after midnight and the clerk was very welcoming. The room was tiny but clean and the bed was very comfortable. Overall the noise level was minimal with most if not all guests abiding to the 10-7 quiet hours. The shower was nice and had a waterfall shower head as well as a handheld option. I was disappointed that they only supplied soap and shampoo no conditioner. The following morning I thoroughly enjoyed the free breakfast. It was a true European style continental breakfast offering hot and cold items. The eggs were prepared over hard which was a nice change from the powdered scrambled eggs one usually finds at a breakfast buffet. They also had a DIY waffle station. Other items offered were bacon, sausage, bagels, pastries, fruit salad, cereal and coffee and tea. This is a great place at a terrific price point. A definite case of what you see on the internet being an accurate depiction of what you get. I take that back-it's even better in person. read more

sister & i stayed here for the first time the past 5 days and we LOVED it! super clean, really nicely decorated, Room 220 (single Queen) recently remodeled bathroom. big screen TV, lots of cable channels and quick working heater. helpful, courteous staff and excellent, central location to everything! definitely staying here again. read more

We were just passing through Eugene and stayed in Timbers Inn. Very friendly staff, great selection of breakfast food, very elegant yet minimalist sustainable front office design, very clean room, great design and homey, comfortable bed and pillows. Definitely you get way more than what you paid for. And this is also important - it is family- owned. I highly recommend this place. Will definitely stay here again . read more

Had to find a last minute room in Eugene and I'm glad I found this place (thanks yelpers!). It was super clean, had all the basics and was very close to UO campus and walkable to other niceties like restaurants and cafes. The only mild gripe was that the wifi strength depends on which room you're in, mine was very weak. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Was searching for a quaint cheap hotel/motel. Found this place, very modern with a cute continental breakfast in the morning as well. We reserved right when we saw all the modern upgrades plus a cool "Rainforest" shower from the ceiling. The younger gentleman at the front desk went above and beyond to make our trip great. Thank you! We would recommend this 100% read more

My husband, 1 year old and I stayed here on our way to Washington. We liked the place so much we stayed again on our way back to California! Pros: nice comfortable bed, nice linens, 2 blocks from Whole Foods, spacious room, nice landscaping for downtown area, drive up close to room to unload, great food all around. Cons: can't really think of any! Would stay again. read more

The lobby is beautiful. We were given amazing customer service even with a very late check-in. Our room was updated and most importantly, the linens were comfortable and clean. Breakfast felt personal and was very convenient. I appreciate the professionalism of the staff. read more

Awesome place. Friendly and rustic in the nicest way. Has a cabin feel. Great location

This is my second stay here. The first time, we are on at hurried road trip, and all we got to do is enjoy the kitchy but rustic room for a few hours. This time we stayed a little longer, and discovered that they have a full breakfast, not just a prepackaged cereal and pint of milk. I mean full mini-buffet with eggs, bacon and sausage, biscuits and gravy (my wife's favorite) as well as waffles, toast and various forms of pastries. They also have cereal and milk if you want that. Additionally, we notice they have 4 beers on tap (presumably for the evening.) This is now my Eugene destination. read more

I don't write very many reviews but I just have to say what a treat it was to stay at this motel. I chose it because it is in walking distance of the Hult Center and it truly is. The reason I'm writing is it was such a delightful stay. We stayed in room 222. I called before check in to see if the room was ready. They said, sure, come on over! We got our old fashioned real key from the friendly staff. Our room had a living room with a comfortable couch, a nice chair, desk and chair, ottoman, extra folding chairs, microwave and refrigerator. The TV was big and had a great picture. In the roomy separate bedroom, with a door (!), there were 2 comfortable queen size beds and another nice TV. It was a true suite which was nice for my sister and I as we have different sleeping hours and I could get up and watch TV, make coffee and use my iPad without disturbing her. We were able to walk to the many nice restaurants and shops downtown. Great parking too! All for $89 a night. Ok, the continental breakfast wasn't much. Muffins, coffee and juice. Great place, I'd stay there again! read more

The friendly dork working in the lobby did NOT want us in there because he was too busy playing minecraft, posting on reddit and probably looking at porn. The television is blocked by the bar tap; which is an odd design. read more

Would not stay here. Horrible customer service, unresponsive manager. Was planning a long stay here, going to stay at the Hilton instead for only a few dollars more. Pricey for tiny rooms. read more

We are impressed with the quality for the price, and we really like the downtown location. Usually when you ask for 2 beds, they are crammed into a room for one bed. Not so here! We were given a spacious, newly referb'd room that is nicely appointed, very comfortable and SPOTLESSLY CLEAN which I love! This place get's my vote for a great place to stay when you're in Eugene. read more

I was totally surprised by how adorable the room was. It was pristinely clean. Room had a mini fridge, microwave and flat screen TV. Best part was the wood floors, vaulted ceilings and exposed solid wood beams. It was gorgeous but at a really budget price. I can't imagine getting a better value at this price point. It's really, really nice. read more

This is my favorite motel in the Eugene area. The location couldn't be better as it is within walking distance of the UO and right out the door is downtown. The rooms have been upgraded over the years and unlike some older motels they have flat screen televisions, excellent selection of cable channels, curtains that keep out the exterior light which most motels have too much of, and very friendly staff. Plus no other motel has the amazing variety of hanging baskets of colorful plants plus curbside plantings. It's like staying in a garden and the people watching is lots of fun. read more

Who would have thought that a motel would have beautiful wood floors, a new flat panel Samsung TV on the wall, new furniture. This is a great find, very comfortable, quiet and was a good night sleep. The decor is very nice. The bed was a little stiff and the pillows were a little flat but we slept well. The staff are very friendly and were helpful aboutthe information and site seeing in the area. The price was very good. Only $60 for a night! read more

People refer to Timbers Motel as a "gem" but I can assure you that is not the case. I was immediately declined service because I seemed "twitchy" and "like a weirdo" in his exact words. The hotel manager said he had "a bad feeling" about me because I intently requested a room that did not smell like people had been smoking in it over the phone. There was no questionable content to our conversation. Bad "vibes" are normal when you are in a service profession, when you have made your job servicing random people coming through town. Hotels have a certain standard, you pay for the room, perhaps you pay a deposit for the room, then you stay, at least if you've already booked. It's a business and it's not realistic or necessary to try and assess every customer on a case by case basis. It's also invasive to attempt to psychologically evaluate every customer upon meeting them. He insulted the state I came from, and said he has been in Eugene for over ten years and for almost his entire life. To me this explains his very insular and almost psychotic behavior. I requested wifi access after he canceled my plans, and he refused wifi access. I spoke to a representative at my booking service and he stated that the manager is not allowed to refuse service after service has been paid for simply because of "bad vibes" or having a personal dislike of someone or someone's personality. He canceled on me the same day I was supposed to stay there, when I was checking in. The manager "sized me up" inappropriately and at length, so that it was quite easy to feel nervous and uncomfortable in his presence. Perhaps if you looked wealthy you would not have this issue. Regardless, this behavior is not something people who book online are expecting to deal with, or are prepared to deal with, or SHOULD have to deal with. People don't come into a business to receive a pre-paid service to be turned away only because they've been harshly judged. He has random customers/staff just hanging out and chatting him up inside his very small office where he "greets" customers. Unfortunately, it is normal to feel uncomfortable with people you feel you are unlikely to have much in common with. I think the manager noticed this and became angry. The manager also mocked me at his desk by laughing at me for claiming to be harassed "often" and therefore uncomfortable in his small office where people were just lurking randomly-- with no apparent purpose. It IS a little creepy, and smiling and trying to bond doesn't really make that behavior any less creepy. Most businesses are able to handle basic transactions without demanding intimacy from clients, as the manager of Timbers Motel did from me. In fact, it was the weirdest and most unpleasant interaction I've ever had. I became quite rude with this person because I had been getting poor sleep and had too much caffeine, but still this guy was literally the most unpleasant and vindictive person I've ever met. He felt the need to flex his power by abruptly canceling my stay, simply because I was not comfortable in his presence and was not acknowledging him to be a good person rather than just "a person I don't know" or particularly care about. I said nothing of significance to this man and he canceled my stay because he said I "twitched" and had bad "vibes." The manager is not able to maintain normal and business-like boundaries. It was clear he only interacts with people who accept an inferior status to him. To support this I was immediately lectured at the desk and told I needed to be "Kind" to people, after he had just refused service. This is not a business, so I highly recommend that you don't come here. It honestly seems more like a dating service than a business. Eugene is a strange place where mainly white people feel entitled to be smiled at, flattered and complimented. You will be interviewed upon arrival at TImbers Motel by a random man who thinks he knows how people should act in every situation with which he is involved. I've never felt more dominated or insulted in the service profession. Not a "gem" at all. A joke. This "business" is a joke. read more

Perfect spot right downtown near all the local flavor. Inexpensive and ready to service those late night partying needs. You know you've come to the right place when the old woman at the desk says "Please no partying tonight " Rates seem negotiable if you rent more the one room. Try forrthe second floor as the first level is ground level with no gate or protection from the busy street nearby. Cable, Ice, clean and ready. read more

I stayed at Timbers while on a trip to Eugene for a conference. At the pre-conference supper meeting, a local resident expressed horror at my staying in such a seedy part of town - going so far as to give me her cell phone number with instructions to text when/if I arrived safely. I'm from New Orleans and live in Portland OR, so I was really expecting a bunch of creeps stalking me at check in - didn't happen. Apparently, the worst of downtown Eugene is... well, what the worst of what you'd expect a small city called Eugene would be. As far as the motel: PROS: *Decent rate ($65 after taxes) *Cool beamed ceiling (don't know if it's really a plus, just an Oregon kind of cool) *The TV - a flat-screened beauty. I hardly ever watch TV, but it was nice to have in the background as I worked. *Interesting retro feel that isn't cheesy. The furniture and drapes are totally 70s, but not in the creepy "we haven't updated since the 70s" kind of way. More like "we stalked retro shops for this cool lamp" kind of way. (Really. I was looking at the lamp and wishing I had one, and I'm not really into retro.) *Room was clean but for a few carpet stains. *Room seemed a bit small (small queen), but I wasn't bothered. If Mr was with me, the bed might have been an issue. I'm not a good sleeper, especially when away from home, but the bed was very comfortable and I had a lovely night's sleep. *Free WiFi that worked the first time and was comfortably fast. *Saving the best for last: excellent staff. Check-in and check-out was friendly, accommodating and swift; both clerks were very personable. CONS: *Side street was a bit noisy earlier (around 10PMish) - but I don't know what kind of magic they work in these rooms, because that was the only loud sound I heard in the 4 hours before I went to bed. *I was put in a smoking room and oh, boy, I could tell as soon as I opened the door. The room REEKED. I had a bottle of Febreze in my bag, so I turned on the AC, sprayed the room, and left for a few minutes to gather the rest of my gear. Came back to a Frebeezy smoke-smell. If you're a non-smoker, or someone with allergy issues, ask for a non-smoking room. *Chairs next to the small table (that I used for a desk) were excruciating. I sat down to work, and found myself stretching my neck less than 2 minutes later. I put one of the bed pillows on the chair, which helped, but no by much - I finished the night with a back ache and sore shoulders. The chair seats were thin and sagging; I'm a relatively small person (around 5'3") and found myself leaning over just to type. *Ice machine (whoa, who knew they still did those?!) was a bit wonky, overflowing my bin. The vending machine didn't work at all. *Refrigerator wasn't on, but there was a note stuck to it with instructions on how to turn it on if was off. I would recommend Timbers if you're looking for an interesting, "non-motel" kind of stay. The excellent staff and super-comfy beds alone are worth more than your standard Motel 6. read more

The clerk was very rude. I asked him if i could stay in the lobby for an hour while i waited for my bus, he said i had to buy a room. I was freezing and scared and i had no where to go. He was unnecessarily rude to someone who just needed to warm up and stay safe from all the drunks while waiting for their extremely late bus rude home to Grants Pass. read more

Update from our 2nd stay: Ugh!!! No sleep due to the noisy neighbors that were talking loudly all night and were constantly in and out of their room. Still awake from noise at 3:15 a.m. The noisy neighbors must have left briefly as I fell asleep finally and was awakened around 5am to the woman screaming "help" and then heard her run to the street shouting loudly. NOT pleasant. I contacted the front desk in the morning to let them know what had happened. Their response was a bit ho-hum. Will not stay here again. Noise seems to be an issue in the building in general and mix that with an undesirable neighbor.........really unpleasant. read more

A cheap motel looking place from the outside, the rooms are clean, updated, and well laid out. The bed was comfortable. The shower always had hot water. The TV was well situated. The wi-fi was decent. Housekeeping was great and put a yogurt I'd forgotten out into the mini fridge (Thanks!) The location is great, within walking distance of everything you could want. My only complaint is how chilly the room was when I first got in, but I curled up in bed until the heat kicked it. Great stay, especially for the price. read more

This place was excellent for a short stay. It was much nicer than any other places we stayed on our Oregon/California road trip, and was also the cheapest. It's been really nicely updated, and the rooms feel really comfortable (with a recliner near the TV!). They feel much nicer than the low price would suggest! The service was also really good. I would definitely stay here again. read more

For the same price as a compact room at a national name hotel, we enjoyed a spacious room at Timbers. The hardwood floors are much easier on lungs than wall-to-wall carpets; the dual shower heads are a luxury; the walls seem freshly painted, but not in a smelly way, just clean. Small details, like a printed TV guide so guests don't have to scroll forever in the remote and handy plug-in sockets in the lamp base, are thoughtful. The WiFi is good and breakfast great. Personnel are friendly and helpful. read more

ONE STAR - I used Yelp to access their web site. And every day was sold out! I wanted to stay the 17th. On the phone I was quoted (We are almost sold out was the exact quote) $109 with tax. It was close to my Church meeting on Sunday. Various reviews said this was an inexpensive motel with $69 price paid???? Upon my arrival home their web site 'still' says sold out. However, Expedia has 2 rooms and a price of $69! Very clean but saggy beds. I will stay at 'Campus Motel next time, and use Expedia. Also they DO NOT accept AAA.(I didn't find this out until checking in at 8pm.) The saving grace was FREE WIFI. read more

Twice as good (at least) for half the price. Clean, comfortable, well laid out, with everything needed. Shower head is great. Flat screen tv is entertaining. Just tried to make a reservation at this hotel for October 15, 2017. 31/2 months from now. There is a Jimmy Buffet concert close by. They tell us they aren't taking reservations that far in advance! IF I COULD GIVE THIS STUPID HOTEL A 0 I WOULD !! After an 11 hour drive i get to the hotel and i'm ready to check into my room only to later find out it's not available after them overbooking , then she told me it was a 50$ deposit and after asking about visitation she then told me the deposit was 100$ and no visitors allowed , she then charged me 300$ for the 187$ room i was left with and she told me to watch it because there was security cameras and she would take my 100$ deposit if anyone was caught going into the room , as i'm about to leave she looks at me up and down and tells me that there is no partying allowed (i am a person of color with braids) she then proceeded to raise her voice at me telling me i cant move my car and i will be fine where i am . as i'm settling down in my room the toilet doesn't work , the shower is disgusting . the lady at the front was incredibly rude and snappy with me , DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE ! go to another hotel even if it's a couple extra dollars more , waste of money and waste of time , customer service is shit and staff is disrespectful and racist. the next night got even worse , they kicked my 16 year old niece out of the hotel because she didn't have ID and she was a minor and not 21 , she had to sleep in the car but sneakily and alone in eugene oregon , this place is nasty , staff is snappy and racist , don't ever come and waste ur money GOOD MF BYE ! read more

We love this place! It looks outdated from the outside but you wouldn't know it once you step inside your room. They are nicely updated and very clean. I love that the floors are wood instead of carpet -- no hotel smell! Staff is friendly. They offer a basic continental breakfast (bagels, bananas, coffee) and it's ready to eat early -- we checked out at 6:00 a.m. It is in a great spot, right by downtown but quiet. It is within walking distance to breweries and bakeries. Love that it is pet friendly. The parking lot has reasonably sized parking spaces.
