Wow! This place was recommended to me by a wonderful Korean woman visiting Florence. I was skeptical. I was wrong. Parking is a jumble. This quaint neighborhood has several diverse kiosk type shops. Tiger Mana is the "sit down" exception. The food, smells are dwarfed by the AMAZING hospitality. I started simple with spicy pork Biminbop. (I know a typical choice). But the sides, the crisp bright Asahi... but the warmth and friendly staff... it is cool outside, rainy and gray, but inside it's warm, bright and DELICIOUS. Came here for the second time with my boyfriend, a bit disappointing this time compared to our first time. We got seated quickly however we didn't get water, or veggies to start? Bit weird. Every other table around us had a pitcher of water and the veggies, we didn't. We ordered, I got the k-ramen with bulgogi, which is an extra add on, didn't actually get the bulgogi in it, still paid extra for it. Boyfriend's bulgogi udon was alright honestly, the broth wasn't that amazing. Took my daughter here for a feast after hearing all the rave reviews. My expectations were high. Everything looked beautiful, unfortunately the taste was not quite there. My poke bowl was DRENCHED in sweet sauce. All the purple rice was glopped together from the sauce. The server came by and gave us the check without checking if we wanted dessert. When asked about the dessert a few items were not available. We wanted to try the shaved ice binsoo dessert. They didn't have any that night. We were most excited about the KFC- Korean fried chicken. Again so SWEET. Totally doesn't check for me. Kimbap was mid. After the check was given to us he asked how everything was. I told him my poke bowl had way too much sweet sauce dressing. Best rice cakes I've ever had!! Plum hot Sake is a must and their Bulgogi dish is delicious. Service is okay until they get busy, then you'll get neglected a bit, but food is awesome! Some tables are a bit smaller and hard to fit all your order. Unless you just order one thing, then you'll be fine. So so good! I just moved to Eugene and thought i'd give this spot a try because I love Korean food and saw the great reviews. I've been here twice now, and have not had a bad dish! I've tried the mushroom bibimbap, curry udon, tofu japchae, tofu and mandu jjigae, buchu jeon, unagi gui and all have been hits in their own right. If you can't tell the options for vegetarians and pescatarians are plentiful! My one criticism is that the first time I came, we were given some banchan including kimchi, cold tofu, spinach, etc., and this last time we were not. I hope that was just a fluke because I found the banchan to be incredible and really think it's a staple of Korean meals! read more

This was our first visit to Tiger Mama at a request by our daughter who was curious to find there. I made a reservation for a party of 9 (celebrating our daughter's birthday), we arrived and were seated immediately., Our server was awesome and kept in touch throughout our dining experience. The food came out quickly but in a bit of a broken fashion with some waiting to begin while they waited for the remainder of the table to receive their order. The food was excellent with a lot of flavor from those who had plates to those, like myself who ordered bowls. We ordered bim bop as a starter which I highly recommend, although the entrees are quite filling. The atmosphere was charming and rustic, although the neighborhood can be a bit. I'm so happy a place like this is finally in Eugene! There's a limited number of tables indoors, and a large patio with heat lamps throughout. It was a bit loud inside, but I expected that - outside would likely have been more quiet. We were greeted immediately by our server upon entering, and seated within a minute or two - I made a reservation earlier in the day based on other reviews, but it wasn't really necessary on a Tuesday evening. For banchan, we were provided cabbage plus carrot and cucumber crudités, which came with two dipping sauces (one was gochujang based I think - but sweet, and the other seemed to be a doenjang base), as well as very small portions of kimchi, pickled daikon and carrot, some marinated steamed spinach, and tofu with sauce. I would've liked to have had more of the kimchi, and likely could have asked - but I agree with some previous review in that the kimchi wasn't great. We shared an order of kimbap with beef bulgogi, then my dinner date had japchae with bulgogi, and I had the kimchi hogar with pork belly. We were mostly impressed! The kimbap was interesting, though I'd order something different next time. The japchae was good, and I'd recommend it - especially for those less familiar with Korean food. For me, the kimchi jigae hit the spot. I miss this dish and soondubu jigae the most when thinking about KTown in LA, and while neither are particularly difficult to make - it was great to get to have the opportunity to get it from a restaurant here in Eugene! Could is have been spicier? Yes, but they did provide some slices serrano when I asked. I'll definitely be coming back here, and hopefully soon! read more

Stopped by for lunch and my first impression was very cute interior and exterior. The metal chairs inside were industrial and did not seem to follow the theme and were not comfortable. Server was prompt and knowledgeable. I ordered the Doshirak Bulgogi Box and my fellow foodie chose the Spicy Pork Noodle Bowl. We received standard banchon dishes but first time I ever was served a small block of tofu in sauce with green onions which was underwhelming. The seaweed salad was good as well as another dish. The house made kimchi was far sweeter than spicy. The bulgogi was barely warm and the spicy pork bowl was barely spicy, on the sweet side and very greasy looking and tasting. I have been to many Korean restaurants and never noticed the distinct sweetness as I did in these dishes. The ginger and lemon tea was very good. I was not a fan of the sweet tastes in the foods. There's a lot of outdoor seating areas and a pretty big indoor space too, most of the tables are put pretty close to each other so it's not the most quiet place to get dinner but they're going for a pocha vibe so it fits. Easily walked in for a table for 2 on a Friday night at 6 pm. Tough area to find street parking, ended up a few blocks away. Restaurant cute and lively. Wait staff friendly and attentive. They start with free veggies with sauce and also get free kimchi and soft tofu. That was my favorite part of the meal! Ate there last night for the first time. Wonderful ambience and food was delicious. The owner stopped at our table and chatted for a few minutes mostly about how high quality of the food is how he determines to buy his meat, fish and produce. Went here for the first time with my honey tonight. We went around 6pm, seated right away. It was very busy and all the tables were packed but the staff was hustling. I think they're still ironing out the kinks, but we would definitely be back. The restaurant is cute. It's a tight space, so I don't recommend for more than a group of 6. Would definitely recommend carpooling here because parking is very limited. When we left at about 7:30, there were a few groups waiting outside. There's no host stand so you just have to wait until one of the staff sees you. It didn't look like they had seating at the bar even though there were chairs there. What we ordered: * Dolsot bibimbap 9/10 - Let rice sit for a little bit so it crunches up before eating. The bowl is sizzling hot. I asked for a side of gochujang sauce for it as well. * Soft tofu soup 2/10 - The tofu was cold * Seafood pajeon - It was soggy in the center but I love pajeon so I would give it another chance to see if they get it right next time * Peach soju Next time we plan on ordering the japchae and fried chicken.
