Came here for the first time today. Beers, food and service are good! They have indoor (up and downstairs) and outdoor seating (small patio area with turf and about 15 picnic benches). I had the regular burger (BOMBBB.com) mac and cheese with brisket and truffle fries (which imo are regular fries with a side of garlic aioli for $7). You can't leave a tab open so you pay as you go. I sat in the patio section with my baby and dog (a golden retriever) and when another patron passed my dog he said "EWWW" as my dog went next to him, very obnoxiously and it left the most sour taste in my mouth. I've never in my life witnessed another decent human being do that about any dog around me/them. Probably won't come back and will just go to other breweries in the area if this is the kind of customers they attract. read more

My wife and I were there today and there's really nothing special about this place. It was a waste of money, the burger was lacking flavor, the fries were disgusting drenched in oil. The tots were hard and gross. The service it's okay. I honestly rather go anywhere else instead of this place. Like someone else mentioned the Yard House. $20 for a burger and fries that disappoints. Not worth it. I don't think it really matters what kind of burger was it. It was the regular original cheese burger. Do something to fix those greasy fries at least. We also heard the people sitting behind us talking about how bad the French fries were. read more

Thompson Brewing is a tiny brewery located near the 215 and Van Buren in an area I almost never drive by. It's in a nondescript building but once you're inside it feels like a well-hidden secret. I only saw the first floor but it's a reasonable sized casual dining establishment focused on craft beer, burgers, and brats (and tots!). There are essentially no healthy food options (some salad, but don't come here for that), but the comfort foods they offer are all designed to go well with beer. Speaking of beer, they offer flights of 6 beers for $7.50, which was a nice way to try a bunch of different beers (and they have a wide selection) on a first visit. I'm not personally much of a beer drinker, but I heard many of the diners comment on how much they liked the beers. My favorite was the Ginger, which only slightly tastes like ginger. The food was fine although served a little slow for what it is...perhaps it was during the dinner rush. The side of tater tots I had with my burger was huge. The bratwurst wasn't particularly juicy but with the standard condiments was pretty tasty. Everything comes on pretzel buns, which adds a nice touch. I wouldn't come here just for the food; it's the atmosphere, friendly service, and little amenities like a kids play area and free board games that would get me to come back. read more

We had the brisket fries which were really good. However the service wasn't that great. We walked in and this was our first time and wasn't sure where the patio was and no one said hello or even acknowledged us. We finally saw the signs and went outside because the inside had no A/C and was very hot and I had a baby with me. The weather was only 78 degrees, I can't even imagine on a hotter day. The patio was small and people left their trays and trash on the tables. A girl picked up a table in the shade for us but did not wipe it down and was dirty. We took out a game of checkers they had and it was incomplete so then we got dominos which was also incomplete and very filthy. There was no music or TV. My husband liked their Thompson Lager. If it was cleaner and had A/C it would be better. Don't think I'd return. read more

Visited today to learn that they now proudly fry everything in beef tallow. The reasoning behind this as stated is because it is a more natural oil and healthier. This couldn't be further from the truth. If it were truly for health they would have chosen a heart healthy olive oil, or sticking with canola oil. Not to mention the tallow they use is most likely just as processed as bad vegetable oil containing more trans fat, which is not healthy. They might tell you that beef tallow is the way to go, but it's less sustainable for you, and the environment. They literally disregarded a whole part of their customer base in vegan and vegetarian because the guy with brain worms said it's better. Beef tallow is not better for you, not cleaner, and they will not see me there again. Studies in The Lancet and in Circulation say it all and you can learn the truth there. read more

Hosted an event here last night with about 20 people. It was a surprising challenge to find a space that would accommodate a large group and have a variety of food/drink for people to choose from. So happy I found Thompson's because not only did they provide such a cool spot for us, but everyone had a great time. I contacted a number of vendors all over Riverside and Thompson Brewing was not only the most responsive, but also, the friendliest. We set the menu a week in advance and everything was good to go the day of. Everyone had a good time enjoying their selection of beers, the sweet kale salad, the sliders, and chicken tenders. I was in town to see my parents and they suggested this spot. I am a huge fan of breweries (home brewer myself) and always love experiencing them. They said they had good food so I figured we would give it a shot The selection of beer was through the roof. It was crazy to see such a small brewery with that many taps. Unfortunately, I am not drinking right now so I didn't get a chance to sample any but the lady behind the taps was super welcoming and ready to pass out glasses or samples. It was dope to see. I kept eyeballing that sours that they had. They sounded great. We ordered a hot mess chicken sandwich, two brisket sandwiches, and two kids burgers. The kids burgers were worth the higher price. The wagyu beef patty was super juicy and tasty. My pops and I split the hot mess and brisket. Brisket was tasty. Super tender. Added some onion, pickle and sauce on it and it was chefs kiss. The hot mess sandwich was tasty, messy and worth it. The maple bacon almost jam was so good. Chicken was crispy and moist. The sides we had were beans, slaw, fries and potato salad. The potato salad was good. Had a nice pickle flavor to it. The slaw was whatever. It wasn't super sweet or super vinegary. I like a bite to my slaw but that is me. The bean were awesome. These are a must grab. We all fought over them. All in all, I will be coming back here. Looking forward to when I start drinking again so I can sample some beers. They have a plethora of beers to choose from! Whether you are into porters, brown ales or IPAs; they have it all. Our group stopped by Thompson Brewing for some grub and a flight of beer. When first entering I had expected the same industrial yet rustic vibe as other breweries in the SoCal area. While Thompson's is definitely in an industrial building, the feel is a little bit different with bright lighting and open seating. It might look tight upon first glance, but there is also a variety of seating upstairs and in the back with a view of the tanks. Thompson's has done a great job of making entertainment available with darts, tic-tac-toe, corn hole, board games, and comics - it's definitely the most kid friendly brewery I've visited. Since we were about to get our brewskeys on, I decided to start with the German Soft Pretzel, served with creamy thick cheese and stone ground mustard. This appetizer came with two average sized pretzels and was perfect for soaking up the alcohol. I also decided to experiment with the $6 flight of six beer tastings: Bavarian wheat, Cherry Bavarian wheat, amber ale, cranberry trepal, Irish red, and chocolate coconut porter. You order your food down stairs and eat upstairs. I had the pink slushy it was ok. I had the messy chicken sandwich row pieces of chicken tenders with bbq sauce on them. Not really good. food was not warm fries were cold. There is not a lot of seating is kind of odd there a couple of long tables you share with people. But the service and the looks you get from here can kill the vibe real fast . came in after looking at the Yelp thirsty and ready to eat. They have seating upstairs, and outside on a large patio area. You could bring your own board games to play or they have some available to use. Their Pub burger is the best burger I've ever had!! This review starts more than a month prior, where I was planning a charity event and visited Thompson Brewing and instantly fell in love with the vibes upstairs and I knew I had to have my event here. I reached out to the establishment via their web portal and the owner Martha continually kept in contact with my via email to make sure to be accommodating to my situation and let me reserve a couple of tables for my event. As my guests came in they complimented on a few key points: 1. Well-ventilated and air conditioned 2. Food was delicious (especially for a brewery) 3. Drink options were great (especially the slush) 4. Staff were extremely friendly! So this was really a perfect experience for my group and I. I will definitely not hesitate to reach out again to the Thompson Brewing family for future events!! This place is amazing!! We had the San Fran, the Pub Burger, the truffle fries and the jalapeño tater tots. Every single thing tasted great!! Homemade 1000 island on the San Fran and you could taste the quality. The Pub Burger was high-quality beef with a homemade aioli and pickled red onions that really complimented each other well. The truffle fries were legit! And the spicy jalapeño tots had a jalapeño cream sauce that was out of this world!! It's in a little strip mall that you would never even notice even though you might drive down the street every day. It's not a fancy establishment but the people are wonderfully nice, the craft beer has a wide range of flavors and the food is bonkers good! Just to highlight the beers a little, my wife and daughter do NOT drink beer BUT they both found ones that they truly enjoy! I even sampled a few that I never would've ordered and loved them, too. Thompson helped us host our puppy party on the patio and everything from coordinating with Martha ahead of time, to day of, was so great! The staff is super friendly and their food is incredible. The service is friendly but the place is always dirty. The first time we went, we sat outside in the back and it was decent. When they brought our food out, I asked about the trash and the waitress was rude. She made a remark saying I needed to be an adult and clean up after myself. I wasn't asking her to clean for me, just where the trash goes when we are done. The food was delicious and drinks were a hit so we came back for a second try. This time we sat upstairs....BIG MISTAKE! There were only two tables occupied, which made it look super empty but all the tables had trash on them and were dirty. There were used napkins, torn up books/cards, tables were sticky from spilt drinks.... We were there for an hr and nobody ever walked up to clean anything. Sucks cus the food/drinks are great but the environment needs some attention. read more

My favorite things about this place include but aren't limited to the fact that it is family owned and operated. They take pride in their place and products- and it shows. The fact they have a kids area- this little nook has a doll house train table and wall mounted gears and puzzles. Not to mention the board games, comics and lawn style games out on the large patio. They always have a deal available on Groupon! Tonight my husband and I had 2 beers EACH and chips with beer cheese for $23! They were very kind and their service was fast. We ordered our food, waited less than 15 minutes, and it was out and ready! The atmosphere is definitely a chill little place. You can choose to eat outside or inside. Outside is definitely a little vibe. They also have games that you are able to bring out if you are chilling with friends. While dining there, I noticed that a group reserved half of their outside area for a small intimate baby shower.
