Wow! What an amazing local place! We were invited to Thompson Brewing by our neighbors who have lived in Riverside for many years. They love to eat local and are always talking about this place. Well now we know why!! We came in on a Friday close to opening time and it was already getting busy. First Thompson is located close to the 91 freeway in an industrial section. I believe this is so they have room to do all the delicious beer brewing they need to do. Well the location is just perfect. When you walk in, you head straight to the counter to start ordering. I am not a beer person at all but I said I would give it a try. I ordered the tangerine ale, the veggie burger and fries, my hubby got some type of bbq sandwich and the neighbors got their items. One you order, you take your beer and number and find a seat. We sat in the back table area near the brewing supplies. Very comfy and cute! Okay now on the the drinks and food. Beer - whoa! I was totally blown away at how good this beer was. It was smooth, tasted delicious and I had two glasses! Burger - I am not lying when I say this was the best veggie burger I have ever had. Hands down! I can't wait to go back for another. So big, so juicy, so delicious! BBQ- my husband loved his entire meal and has brought up the sandwich several times since we went. How have I never written a review of Thompson's? We frequent this restaurant because it's consistently great. The people who own it are super nice, the people who work there are equally nice. The food and beer are top notch. I call it boogy beer and food. They use the best ingredients in everything and you can taste a difference. If they can make it better by scratch they do. From sauces, and french fries, to smoked prime brisket, everything is a cut above. And then there is beer. Most places just make 10 different IPAs because that's what people seem to want these days. Thompson's makes so many beers including some IPAs but also a wide selection of every type you can think of. I love Belgians and they have 3 right now which you can't find anywhere. read more

Went to this place for the first time with the mans and it was pleasantly delicious. We ordered the eggs and tater tots brunch plate and fried chicken tots brunch plate. The layout is you order walking in and then you can go upstairs for seating or walk down the hallway to an outdoor seating area. They have umbrellas and fans so days that are hot (like today at sunny and 93) are a little more tolerable. Service was good, we didn't have to wait long for our food. Their drinks were yummy too! I had their Mt. Dew Seltzer which was yummy and their guava sour was good too. Tangerine wheat drink was good too. Highly recommend this place (try their slushes!) read more

OMG. I found out about this place through TikTok, I love beer and local breweries so it didn't take much to convince time to head over to Thompson Brewing. I ordered a flight with 6 different beers and I can happily say I enjoyed all of them. My boyfriend also ordered a flight and he found his new favorite beer (Coffee Brew)! Good beer, great start. I ordered the Hot Mess (chicken sandwich) and my boyfriend got the American burger. Both were KILLER and a solid 9/10. We upgraded one of our fries to their truffle fries (10/10 would recommend doing that). The atmosphere is definitely family friendly, lots of tables, games, both indoor and outdoor (pet friendly!!!). We brought our dog on our second visit and they offered a puppy patty and water! They have seating in their warehouse/brewing area and I sparked a conversation with the owner! She was so nice and shared a little background of the brewery. All the staff was so friendly and made amazing recommendations. Can't wait to come back! read more

We just stopped by less than 5 minutes ago. We ordered wings and had 2 different beers. The Rating is low for the following reasons. 1) Beer was served in plastic cups. Because "We are short staffed" * This has been noted on several reviews already. Why is this not resolved? 2) After we ordered our food and got our plastic cups of beer - we made our way to outside seating. There were several trays filled with glasses that were NOT picked up or addressed the entire time we were there. Why not take all the glass and wash them to use for the patrons who are paying $7.50-$8.00 per beer? Or - why can't the food runners return with trays of the glasses to give to others to clean? We arrived at 6pm on Saturday evening. And you already ran out of clean glasses but no one was picking up the sorry ones to wash. 3) Everyone working were very young and not prepared to handle concerns. 4) We used the restroom before leaving. Although clean - the trash was over flowing in both men's and women's. Final thought: As we were walking out we saw the photos on the wall. It was nice to see "Brian" on the wall, but it was a little discerning due to the experience we just had. If the establishment was staffed and MANAGED appropriately - ensuring great experiences for the patrons - the photos of Brian would be in good humor. The food was really good- the beer was good too - but this is a BREWERY and we think Brian needs to be present to ensure acceptable customer service/ experience. This is just our review - We want to return. We want to believe it won't just be great beer and great food. We really hope this is the case. We definitely do NOT want our beer in plastic cup next time. I am a business owner and take pride in what I do for customer service. I would want to know if there was a need for improvement. Fantastic brewery and family, friendly lunch spot We were in the area and had a choice between a couple breweries and so we found Thompson was the closest, when we arrived, we were promptly greeted, the lady behind the counter made sure she explained where everything was, and any ingredients that I asked questions about, we sampled a couple beers, made our selections and ordered food, the pub, burger, and garlic aïoli fries are not a disappointment, probably the most solid pub burger I've ever had. We sat out on the patio and it was honestly pretty hot, but we did have the choice to sit inside in the air-conditioning. Food and beer service was prompt and the flavor of everything was fantastic. The only thing I will say from building and touring other breweries is the cleanliness of the warehouse area could honestly be better, I know it's a small family business, so I was willing to look past it. We came for my wife's birthday with a group of friends and their beer selection was crap. They didn't have what we wanted and food took forever to get here. Their system is unprofessional and needs to be addressed. My other friend got his food an hour and a half later. I noticed many other customers did not get their food at an appropriate time. Thompson's never disappoints. As you walk in you immediately order and even sample some beers before you make your decision. There is plenty of seats and your food will be brought out to you no matter where you sit. There is an upstairs and patio in the back. They have games you can play and service is always great! Been here a few times thanks to a Groupon that allowed us to sample their beers and food. This is a local and family friendly gastropub in Riverside where you'll experience great drinks, even better food and fantastic service. Lots of seating indoors, outdoors, upstairs- its a really comfortable, casual and low key environment to enjoy drinks and a great meal. While I'm not a huge beer fan- they have a great selection of seltzer to choose from and I believe they change up their menu from time to time. We each decided to order a "flight " - which is a generous sample of 4 of their drinks. I selected their seltzers while hubby ordered from their beer selection. We both enjoyed our flights- especially the Tangerine seltzer for me! As far as food- I had their veggie burger and its seriously one of the best veggie burgers I have ever had. It was served btwn soft pretzel buns, a secret house sauce, pickled onions and other goodies that made this quite a treat that I would definitely order again. Hubby ordered their chipotle burger which he loved too because he was pretty quiet while we ate and cleaned his plate! Both burgers were served with fries- which as ok. Wasn't impressed at all. I ordered bacon and cheese tater tots and they were brought to me as "deconstructed" tater tots. I was dining in so not sure why that was necessary. Chicken was bland with no flavor. Mac n cheese was just macaroni with a handful of shredded cheese thrown on top. Corn bread muffins had full corn pieces in it. They have a banner out front saying voted best burger in town, I would not agree. Pub burger was messy and again missing flavor. Staff was friendly but overall a odd location for a place like this. Atmosphere was not pub like at all. This was more of a appetizer spot not a restaurant. Update: Owner responded and I appreciate the offer but we will most likely not be back. All the ideas of the food sounded amazing and delicious but it was all lacking flavor. For the tots no one ordered it to be deconstructed. Everything about this place is amazing! The staff are very nice and are patient. I tried the maple chipotle chicken tenders and they are the best chicken tenders I've had in my life! The barbecue chicken in our sandwiches was tasty but we could not find sauce until we were finished with our meal and on the way out the door (the pump style dispenser was only visible when descending the stairs from the second story eating area. The only major complaint we had was the texture of the ranch dressing. It was thick and fatty due to too much mayonnaise in the base. The service was helpful in explaining menu item questions, and had we remembered to ask about condiments I am sure they would have directed us to the bbq sauce. We didn't expect a lot in terms of ambience so we were not disappointed, and were even a little surprised by the board games made available on the tables. Great beer, great food and great vibes. This is a two-story brewery with a backside seating where you can see the actual brewery and hangout on the patio. There are old comic books everywhere. Kids and families hanging out, even on the steps of the stairs. It is a very free-feel vibe and communal in a way. The beer selection includes light lagers, ambers as well as the more robust Belgium and IPAs. There are some seasonals as well. I had the winter ale which was smooth with some spices. The food is no joke. The beef in the burgers is quality and juicy. Even the kids burger is good. The pork is tender, juicy and you can tell someone gave it some love. Yeah don't waste your time. I have been to backyards and home garages that looked so much nicer. But those are Aesthetics and I don't really care about that now the food nothing special. The street corn is a waste of time that was crap the mac and cheese is okay everything else taste like it was bought and just fried up there's nothing original there's nothing outstanding there's nothing even worth spending money on. We were in the area for my husband's work at the college and I found this gem nearby. The customer service was very friendly and welcoming. We sat out on the patio and noticed a very nice atmosphere with many people playing board games. The food was great! Have come back tons of times since the first review and wanted to give credit where credit is due. Food items are awesome, as are the beers again. Freedom fries are now my go to, though the tots are a close second. AND now they allow pups on the patio! So we were able to bring our monster pup and his gf and they had a great time, as did we all - they even have puppy patties!
