We saw this place from a post on social media. Micheladas at 6am? We had to check it out for ourselves. Exterior - It's a large property with lots of parking. The bushes and hedges are car shaped which was really cool. There's a spot for Veterans parking. Interior - cool decor. Lots of tables everywhere. The bar area is roomy and there are tables on both sides of the bar. Fans overhead was a nice touch. Old gas pumps really fits in. Really cool vibe they got going. Food / Drinks - I had the breakfast burrito. It was a good size and a good burrito. Nothing out of the park but definitely worth the price and I would get it again. Wife had the taco combo plate. Chicken tacos were good but she wasn't too thrilled with the carne asada. Said it was too grounded up. Maybe if they left strips of the steak? Idk. Fish tacos were really good. Crispy and flavorful. Drinks were fantastic. I had the large Michelada, since it was two beers it tasted a bit light so Laura, our server gave us a cup of Michelada base. Poured a bit of that and the drink was perfect. This spot is an absolute disappointment. It has been shared by food influencers in the IE and comes up often on my ads on IG, I will probably never go to this place again. WHERE DO I START? First Thursday happens every single month in downtown Riverside and a lot of of the restaurants and bars have an influx of guests. After venturing around a friend mentions, they are hungry and suggests this abomination. The set up is cool! There is inside and outside seating, airflow is really solid with fans throughout the space with alright decor! We decided to sit outside and my friend grabbed seats at the bar while I ran to the restroom. Once I joined them at the bar, there is nothing in front of us to include not a single menu! Unbeknownst to me, my friend left ordered a burrito and my friend to the right ordered a Michelada, I would like to add this is at 8:30 on a Thursday night and the restaurant is not busy at all. A runner brings out my friend's food and the bartender drops off the drink, and I am not even greeted or asked if I want a water. The bartender checks in on my friend with food and then stares at me like I'm a moron, so I ask if I'm able to order a drink and food or is the kitchen closed...it wasn't closed... My food was trash. We live in SoCal...how do you mess this up?! I ordered a chile relleno (soggy from oil) and enchiladas (the meat was dry and the sauce was bad, bad) but what do I know. On top of that, there was almost no one on the outside patio, friend to the left ate most of the food and friend to my right was never followed up on for food, but it took us almost 20 minutes to be able to close out. First off, no pictures were taken before I started picking at my food. The person taking our order, she was very nice and very helpful. We asked a few questions, asked about substitutions, and she answered everything. In the end, the order for myself was a 3 crispy chicken taco plate with rice, beans, chips and a drink. My husband got the 2 Gordita plate (asada and al pastor for the meat) with French fries, beans, chips and a drink. The prices were fairly decent, which I don't know why I was expecting it to be a bit more pricier (probably the way it's set up). However, the food was okay. At first bite, I expected flavor and received no flavor from the chicken tacos. My rice was on the cold side and the beans had some flavor and were warm, which I could tell also from the cheese melting. My focus was mostly on the tacos because for me it was a bit disappointing. I added a little bit of salt and salsa to help get some flavor, but it still wasn't reaching that expectation I had based on the look. My husband said his Gordita's were good. He said the meat had flavor versus my chicken tacos, the only thing he said he needed to add salt to were his French fries. Would I personally return? I would think about it, because there were other items I could still try and see how I feel. I'm pretty disappointed with my recent visit to Taco Station in Downtown Riverside. I've been here before for their fish tacos and usually get decent service, but this last time was highly unsatisfactory. We decided to sit at the bar because I really love the outside vibe, but the bartender (whose name I didn't catch) looked bothered for some reason, even though he only had a few customers. It took him forever to take our drink orders. When he finally brought out our two Coke Zeros, they had very little ice, which isn't ideal when it's 100 degrees outside. We didn't even want to ask for more ice because of how annoyed he looked. He then took our food order without writing anything down. I thought maybe he was one of those people who can just memorize a whole order, but nope. He completely messed up my order, which meant I had to sit and wait while my partner ate his food. By the time my correct order finally came out, he was almost done eating. To make matters worse, we were never given napkins or silverware. The bartender spent most of his time on his phone or reading a bartender manual, so he really wasn't paying attention to us at all. I sure hope if and when we go back, the service is much better. I like coming here for dinner. Came for breakfast for the first time and the staff here had zero customer service. It also took 30 mins to get my order cause the menudo was warming up. I was here at 10:25 and the cooks had to warm up the menudo for 20 or 25 mins? That's crazy! Then the workers are touching the screens and touching the food. Wow! out. The vibes are so cool-- it's an old 1950s gas station turned into a taco shop, and they really lean into the theme with the decor and "car part" menu names. The outdoor patio is great for hanging out, and the food came out surprisingly fast even though it was a bit busy. We were driving by and noticed the plants cut into the shape of low riders. We knew it was a spot we had to check out so we parked nearby on the street and walked over. Came here with the boys after work at 6am. They were open and had a full menu and bar at 6am! I ordered the quesobirra tacos. They were good! Not the best I've had but still really good! From the car topiaries to the gas pumps, they do it up right. I love the colorful setting, and we got a bonus of Christmas decorations. Very festive! We have been here to dine in and its always been delicious. This year for Father's day we ordered from their catering menu to go. This is such a great option for occasions like this where you KNOW that if you go to a normal sit-down restaurant you're always dealing with the wait times and crowds, etc. We ordered about a week in advance and everything was ready to go as soon as we walked in! They loaded everything up on a cart and walked it out to the car for us! We got two taco platters, one asada, one carnitas. It's $12 per person and comes with enough meat, homemade tortillas, onions, cilantro, salsa, beans, and rice for each person to have at least 3 tacos each. They don't skimp on the sides, either, so there's plenty to go around. The onions and cilantro are mixed together. So if you're one of those people who tastes soap when you eat cilantro, you can request them to come separate. We also ordered the elote and papas poblanos. So many options on the catering and regular menus! The meat is flavorful and the rice and beans are also really tasty. The beans, especially. I believe they are chorizo beans, yummy. The employees are always friendly and helpful. The place has a gas station motif and has always been clean. There's so much to feast on, whether it be to eat or for your eyes to see in the decor! The inside has a small bar top with 3 or 4 barstool seats and faces the window with a view of the outside. The main seating is outside with plenty of space. There's even a full bar outside that is beautiful and opens early (like 6am, I believe), and stays open late. They have awesome drink and specialty shot options. The duck fart shot is adorable. I was so focused on getting everything situated when we got home that I forgot to take food pictures! But I got some good photos of the inside and out. Exciting return visit! It had been a while since I last visited, but I'm so glad I decided to come back. The menu has a great selection, portions are generous, and they offer a solid variety of drinks and craft beers. The highlight for me was definitely the flatas--thick, meaty, and perfectly crispy. It's amazing how this establishment started out on a small scale and was always very family style and has grown into a medium to large dining/bar style restaurant with the same quality food and drinks.
