I had an amazing time here with my hubby! We stayed at the Mission Inn and we wanted to have some drinks, came downstairs and the presidential lounge was the perfect place to be. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple drinks while we chatted. We ordered: orange blossom martini, old fashion, and blackberry smash. The drinks also have the names of presidents that ordered these. Nice quaint place filled with Presidential portraits, old black and white photos lining the dark walls of a lower lounge with filled with mission style furniture. The upper part has a sit around bar and offers a beverage menu with specialty cocktails named in honor of a few US presidents. There are a few good items to much on, standard menu. Ordered the Blackberry Smash, fruity and strong in taste with a fresh bunch of mint and a fresh berry on top. Eye pleasing. Small for the price but powerful. I didn't wanna drink anything on an empty stomach so the bartender was kind enough to offer me chips and salsa on the house. Kind attentive staff. Good or nostalgic theme music which is very uplifting five flatscreen TVs showing major league baseball. Quiet and unassuming for a presidential lounge. It has more the feel of old simple, colonial vibe, not modern day luxury chic. Casual, comfortable and low-key. The prices are a little on the high side. We decided to go here for drinks and appetizers before going to see all the lights and decor at The Mission Inn. This restaurant honors 10 US presidents who have stayed at or visited the Mission Inn. There are photos of the presidents all over the walls. We ordered a drink from their holiday menu called Snowed In which was made with tequila and coconut. It had a sugar rim. This drink was pretty and super good. We also ordered the George W. Bush's old fashioned from their main menu and this was really good too! For appetizers we ordered empanadas and Tajin fries. I have a small obsession with fries so we tend to get fries to try. The empanadas were super good. Tasty and their mini sizes were perfect. The fries were tasty and came out crispy and hot but I felt it needed more tajin seasoning. They tasted like regular fries. This is a good spot to stop for drinks and even food. It's neat with all its decor. I will go here again when I do visit the Mission Inn. read more

Limited mexican food menu but what we did order was delicious! We opted for the cadillac margarita ($24) to drink and it was so good and smooth! To eat we shared the chicken taquitos, chicken tortilla soup and chips and guac. Everything was expensive, but what did you expect eating inside the hotel? This is my second time being here where the wait time to be greeted was ridiculously long. I was not at the bar top, but at a table. My food was good, but my drink sat empty for over 25 minutes. There is no service flow. When the waitress did have contact with me, she was very friendly, but every time she came out, she handled one table at a time, never scanning her other tables or being mindful of what had arrived and what may be needed. Top tier service! Always a VIP experience with Cam, Ruben and Oscar! I've been a regular for years and it's always chill vibes. I hadn't been in a while because I stopped drinking. I've tried to have it replicated at several other places and it's just not the same. The drinks were so good, I think they only use top shelf liquor, I ordered my favorite drink a Hennessy Sidecar, and they nailed it, it was perfection! We ordered chips and salsa and nachos, delicious! I know it sounds like basic food, but they don't do basic. The chips were freshly fried, the salsa was fresh made and delicious not too spicy, and the nachos were layered with delicious fresh made ingredients, the cheese sauce OMG, even the guacamole was delicious. I came here with my husband a few days before Christmas, since it was a great way to check out the inside of the Mission Inn without being a guest (they don't allow non-guests to enter the inn during the Festival of Lights unless you are a patron of one of the dining establishments). It's a classy bar with historical photos on the walls, honoring the US presidents that have visited. We immediately found a table and received menus. I ordered a merry mojito from their seasonal menu and my husband ordered the Beautiful Lady, a Hennessy and Grand Marnier drink. We waited almost 30 minutes for our 2 drinks, and we would have left if the server didn't take our credit card to start a tab. I understand the holidays are a crazy busy time for the Mission Inn, and my heart goes out to the server who was clearly overwhelmed. But having one server for the whole lounge during the busiest time of year is not ideal! We came to the Mission Inn to see the Christmas lights on the Friday after Thanksgiving and decided to stop in for some drinks. We sat at the bar and the Bartendar immediately took our drink order, she was super nice and attentive. But then we decided to move to a table and found a vacant one but it needed to be cleaned and empties removed. I asked a waitress if she could get our table cleaned and take our appetizer order and rudely told us that this was a self serve area and walked away. She did help other tables but never came over to see if we needed anything! Worst customer service!!! I just cleaned the table myself and moved the empty beer bottles and used glasses to another table. However other waitresses showed up and were amazing, polite, and incredibly attentive! They salvaged our evening, which allowed us to enjoy the rest of the night! The lounge's ambiance is festive this time of the year with tables inside the lounge, a bar area with bar stools, and tables outside in the hotel lobby. The decor is antique style with historical photos on the walls. I ordered a Moscow Mule and it was good. We also ordered appetizers such as chips, guacamole, and flautas. The food wasn't bad for a bar! This would have been a 3 or 4 star review if it wasn't for the horrible customer service we received from the one waitress!! read more

The Presidential Lounge, off the lobby at the Mission Inn has an interesting history. It was originally the Presidential Suite, created for a visit by Teddy Roosevelt, I believe. At the time, Riverside was fabulously wealthy. Seedless oranges had been stolen from Brazil and were being grown here generating incredible profits. Riverside was a "must stop" on the campaign trail. The lounge today serves a nice selection of mixed drinks, wine and beer. Food is available from the hotel's attached La Compana Mexican restaurant. The lounge has very nice charming character and style. A live piano music made the visit even better. The selection of various drinks is really good. You can order beers, cocktails, and wines. I am more of a red wine drinker and would definitely recommend to try their selection. Also, sangria with dash of brandy was very enjoyable and refreshing! The Lounge itself is part of the lobby, located outside the bar and it has plenty of seating. We found it relaxing and servers keep an eye on you. If it wasn't for the portrait of President Kennedy, you could easily call this the Republican Presidential Lounge. Portraits include most twentieth century GOP Presidents, from George W, going back to TR and Taft. Missing are IKE and Harding. After having been a few times (all for dining), I have to say the ambience and decor is great and the food is pretty good but the service is consistently bad. Each time, we waited incredibly long periods just for a server greeting and drink order, the food to be served and especially long for them to ever return to check on us or bring the bill. Last night I was fed up and went to the bartender for help getting a bill and two other angry diners were doing the same. Presidential Lounge is located right inside and definitely gives you that classic feel of what a bar should be. Service was great! They have a list of drinks named after a few of our presidents and I love that the menu tells you when that specific president visited the hotel (seen in my photos). Few years back I met up with a female (my wife now) on our what I called was our first date and she said was a "meet and greet". The ambiance was amazing, comforting, attentive bartenders, which lead to a great evening (started our dating experience for few years), and the drinks...they were just perfect!
