First off my co-workers at Kaiser have been customers for over 30 years. We used to frequent a few times a week, but since a few of us have retired we usually make it for the Taco Tuesday special. Food has always been good, and the service from the waitresses has always been great. Now your wondering why the one star rating. Yesterday my friend and I entered for the lunch. Only one other person was in during this so called lunch special. We sat down at a table as the waitress came to our table for our order. Joe the owner who we've seen and known for decades starting yelling that he should kick us out since we brought our personal drink containers. Which we have done for years without incident. We always order drinks, and only bring in the containers so the homeless people around the bar has nothing to steal. Joe's rant continued for almost a minute at which point my friend and I decided to leave. For over 30 years myself and co-workers have supported this bar even before Joe opened the bar which was previously Sires. For a group of Kaiser employees who used to spend at least a couple hundred dollars a week, the group has decided to find another establishment. If your looking for a bar where you can have a conversation without yelling this if the place. The average customer is at least 60 + years. I'm sure Joe is feeling the pressure of a Bar in decline, but chasing customers out is not going to help. Even John Taffer would not be able to save this establishment. read more

the bar tenders are very friendly and accommodating but their KJ seems to be new or something we went on a friday night and the kj is playing 4-5 songs between karaoke signups. we were there for an hour and a half and there were only about 4 people singing amazing place if you like dive bars but if you are looking for any type of fun and excitement you might as well go to Laws down the street. two stars are from service only. thought it was weird that there was a staff member who is play fighting one of the customers who was so blasted that he couldn't see or walk straight and yet they are still serving him. not very responsible for the bartenders to allow him to get like that and continue to serve him read more

After patronizing Joe's for over 3 years tonight I had an itch for their Prime Rib Special. Upon entering into a full bar, mo tables occupied and only the barmaid was waiting tables. I found an open booth, sat for 15+ minutes without any service or drink offered. Finally the barmaid asked me if I wanted a menu and I told her that I knew exactly what I wanted to order. She abruptly informed me that "she was all alone and I'd better be patient and to be prepared to wait 20+ minutes"! When I smiled she barked "if you've got a problem with that you can leave"! Not saying a word I got up and walked out. Not for a FREE MEAL would I be talked to like that! Dive Bar? More like toilet with a bar and a kitchen attached! When I went the bartender was lazy to make a blended drink saying they don't blend but my friend said she clearly saw a blender and the server was an old white women who just looked like she didn't want to serve us and my friend and I just felt out of place not feeling welcomed it was definitely giving a little racist vibe along with annoyance bc we are young ladies but polite. The server took forever to get back to our table and just ignored us while she was new tables so we just left. Food is average, cheap and processed. While I did get my beer, I never was asked for my lunch order, something I explicitly stated that was the reason I was there (I love a great burger). I watched her seat and take the orders of other regulars, and when she FINALLY cam back to me, she asked if I wanted anything else and I mentioned, that I did want to have lunch, but now I had no time. I've been coming here regularly for about nine months. You really get a wide range of people--old, young, rich, poor, black, white, Asian, Latino, smart, dumb, gay, straight. I come to watch and listen. Don't expect to be seated by an arrogant old man in a tuxedo; this is a relaxed hangout for landscapers, nurses, claims adjusters, and linesmen. Nor should you expect the bartender to be wearing a bathing suit. She wasn't hired for ogling purposes (although some of them are definitely qualified for an ogle). The bartenders are friendly, efficient, and skilled. On busy nights there is a second server working the dining room so the bartender can stay behind the bar. Plenty of different beers, five on tap and dozens in bottles. Liquor selection is decent; they don't stock 467 different brands of bourbon, but there are options, and if you want a mixed drink the bartenders can usually accommodate. Most days the kitchen is open until 9, and the food is good enough to seem a bit out of place. I mean, you look around and see 70's decor and worn carpet, and you would assume that their signature dish is a microwave hot dog, but in fact they make a bomb chili verde burrito, the size of a 40-oz drink. Tuesday is taco day and its pretty obvious from how busy they are that the tacos are good, and also obvious how inexpensive they are because the place is full of senior citizens. The music is at a medium volume, which I like because I enjoy conversation. Depending on the bartender, it's usually classic rock, country, or hip-hop. The jukebox uses AMI (so you can put on music using your phone). You could play LA Philharmonic or Chuck Mangione, but don't expect anyone to be happy if you do. And don't tell anyone it was my idea. Karaoke on Tuesdays and Fridays, starting at 9:30. Not gonna lie, there were issues with the smell a few months ago; the stench was unfortunately coming from inside the wall of the men's room, which means the building owner should have been responsible for fixing it. After months of nothing getting done Joe was pretty furious and hired a pro to take care of it. Like an annoying ghost, the aroma comes back every once in a while, but now Joe knows what to do about it so he can exorcise it pretty quickly. read more

Today was taco Tuesday and as always everything was excellent including the freshly made Pico de Gallo. I have eaten lunch many times over the years as it is located right across the street from the hospital. Their Large Shrimp Cocktails are available every day of the week and I highly recommend that dish as welll. read more

We went to Joe's for date night; worst experience! The food is horrible, frozen boxed shrimp appeared to be warned up in the microwave, old lettuce bartender does not know how to mix drinks, they don't replenish your utensils after soup or salad and they have an apparent bug problem. We've been here twice now and have decided that we're going to be eating (and drinking) out more frequently just so we can come to Joe's more often. It's got that fantastic, relaxing, hometown bar vibe, but the food is outstanding too! You could tell a lot of the people sitting at the bar were regulars who had obviously found a great place to hang. Big, juicy, perfectly cooked, fresh-off-the-grill burgers, thick, crispy-on-the-outside, tender on the inside fish, and if there are more perfectly crafted piping hot French fries, I haven't had them. The bartender is awesome, the on-tap beer ice cold, and the music in the late afternoon was just the good stuff from the 70s played at a volume that didn't intrude on conversation. Prices are really reasonable too. We're looking forward to coming back soon. read more

Worthy to note is that this is the one establishment names "Joe's" that's actually owned by a guy named Joe. Because I'm the asshole always on Wikipedia looking up stupid facts, I appreciate this tidbit of information and it influences me to spend a night at Joe's. I'm glad I did. I'm glad because of a guy named Jeff. Jeff, you are a fucking rock star. I rarely cuss in reviews, kids. But Jeff, you are the fucking man. Jeff danced and fondled everyone who got up to sing karaoke that night. Even me. I wasn't gonna wash the sweat off, though, I think it was alcohol escaping from his body than simple presparation... Jeff and his wife celebrated their anniversary and the poor guy fell off a table at one point. I mean, really. That's some kind of entertainment. As with most bars, I have a checklist for quality control purposes. Let's see how Joe's stacks up: - Salty Jaded Broads who can't sing? Check - Rotund, heroically proportioned women who CAN sing? Check - Drunk guy hitting on everything with two legs? Check - Capable tiny and mighty waitress to lay down the law? Check - Asshole singing Puff the Magic Dragon? Joe's is a bar I come down to relax. A place I don't have to try and dress up. Also I don't have to pay $12 for a dirty Stoli martini, I love their prices. They seem to always have karaoke going which is fun to watch, people loves them some karaoke! You even have to cheer for those god awful singers, more power to them since I'm too much of a coward. Decided to stop here while driving down the street. I got tired of eating at restaurants such as tgif, Applebee's and wanted something different. I gave it 4 stars because I walked in and could not see anything. The inside was super dark and eyes had to be adjusted. The food was good but salmon was just a bit dry. I ate it with my mashed potatoes which made it better. The portions are generous, but I am willing to try something else the next time I come here. Also, they do have $1 taco Tuesday's! I visited Joe's for the first time on a Saturday afternoon early evening. Upon entering it seemed like your typical bar. It has one pool table and plenty of seating. It also has several flat screen televisions which I can only assume during football season are showing all the games. The mixed cocktails were good and the food was decent - I only ordered the chicken strip appetizer but their menu is quite extensive for a bar and the prices seem led decent as well. The staff was very cordial and I was surprised to see the Joe of Joe's actually behind the bar working. I would definitely visit this establishment again. read more
