The state ambiance was what is expected from a downtown Riverside restaurant. That is a large, loud, and mix of modern pub style space with plenty of tables and bars. The service for our group was acceptable since it was rush hour during lunch and the group of 10 was definitely a factor. The food I ordered was the steak ribeye and I requested it to be medium rare, but it was more so medium. That is okay, but I wish I just got what I requested.

Have noticed this restaurant for awhile and always wanted to try it so, glad I was able to finally meet a group of friends there! When you walk in, you notice the beautiful tall decorated bar and large dining area. We came for Sunday lunch so there was not too long a wait. The bruschetta was fresh, right amount of garlic and spices on top of the nice crisp toast. The hamburger was so juicy, flavorful with the chips that I ordered another one to go for my husband. The meatballs were moist and paired well with the tomato sauce. The State is easily accessible in downtown Riverside with garage parking options. I will definitely return.

Service is acceptable, the host at the front was not attentive. We ended up at the bar. Ambiance is that of a typical higher end bar, wooden floors, ample seating. The drinks are generous pours, but the food lacked depth of flavor and adequate seasoning. I had the truffle burger, but I could not taste or smell truffles which have a very distinct aroma and taste the chips are overcooked, almost burnt. Good took longer than anticipated. Come here only if you have enough time to dine. Happy hour menu is not exciting.

I came here for a brunch get together and the food and service were both amazing! I love the vibes in this restaurant and the decor! The party I was apart of were already seated so when I walked in, I informed the hostess and she showed me where to sit! I sat down and the waitress came right over to take my order since I was a little late and my party had already ordered! I already knew I wanted a mimosa with pineapple juice and chicken and waffles! The waitress asked me if I wanted a bottle of champagne because it would be cheaper and she was right, the bottle was $12! I was able to share it with a friend of mine! The chicken and waffles were delicious and everything I wanted! I would love to come back and try their dinner options!

We ordered the New York steak along with the pesto chicken sandwich, both were delicious! Our server was attentive and got our drinks served right away. She checked on our table multiple times throughout to make sure we were okay. We had a reservation & were seated right away at a booth. Our drinks for the night were the Agua de Rosalita & Rum to the Hills. That Agua de Rosalita is a little on the sweeter side!! Parking wasn't too bad as we beat the crowds in the evening. Restaurant was quiet, low dimmed lights, and great for a date night!

I met a friend here for lunch. The restaurant doesn't have its own lot but I had no problem finding parking on the street and paid for 2 hours at the meter. The first thing I noticed when walking through the door was an impressive bar. The rest of the restaurant is open and has a slightly swanky feel, yet not pretentious. I'd feel comfortable whether in a suit or jeans (I was in the latter). Our waitress was phenomenal. Very gracious and friendly. I ordered their blackberry barbecue burger, choosing a house salad as my side. I also ordered a ginger ale to drink, which was magnificent - they make it in-house. The burger was excellent. The burger itself was tasty, an "American wagyu beef blend". The brie cheese, thick blackberry bbq sauce, arugula, and candied bacon, all of which topped the burger, blended perfectly for a deliciously unique taste. The bbq sauce had just a tiny bit of heat which I appreciated. The accompanying salad was pretty good too, with the arugula and candied almonds perking up the rest of the greens. The atmosphere of the place made me expect a higher bill than what I got - it was quite reasonable for the food served. I would probably indulge in something from their extensive wine, beer, and cocktail list on a return visit.

On our way back from the beach we made a detour to Downtown Riverside. It's always one of my favorite stops if I can make it today while walking past some of the shops, The State caught my eye. We already ate lunch earlier in Redlands so we decided to check it out and get some drinks at the bar. It was beautiful inside and I knew instantly I would love it. I'm not really a fan of beer or hard cocktails so I ordered a margarita. When I asked the bartender what their best one was, he explained it to me and it sounded delicious. He also let me know it was $25 which I appreciate ahead of time in case I wasn't trying to go crazy but hey, I'm on vacation. I did tell him I don't like the taste of super strong alcohol so he did adjusted a little bit and even took a few bucks off which I appreciated even though I didn't ask him to do that so that was kind the bar seats were cozy. When we got there, there was quite a few people at different tables, but it was still easy to talk. The music was in a good level and I just really love the vibe in there. I made it a few other spots nearby and I'd say this one was the best just from their bar alone.. service was great the entire time and prices were fair. Happy hour specials were good and they had one for every day of the week. They even had Tuesday eight dollar margaritas unfortunately for me we came on a Monday lol

Saturday lunch always looks good around here.

Today we tried burgers , not your average burger either , Wagyu meat burgers. Truffle is my new favorite . Service here is consistent in being friendly and respectful. Love the ambiance , right noise level, atmosphere here is always good.

Was in Riverside for some family stuff and headed in for eats and libations with my BFF. The food was pretty yummy, cocktails were well prepared and genuinely balanced and yummy, and our server was super sweet. We came in for a super early dinner, and it was pretty quiet. The place filled up quickly and was lively with a nice mix of people enjoying the vibes and bites! Service slowed a bit once the place was hopping but I still felt the service was good enough. Would return.

We had a mostly nice experience here from start to finish. Our server was Vanessa she was pretty on it. We ordered Brussels sprouts, street tacos, kids grilled cheese , kids chicken strips (took longer than usual since they said they burnt the first batch) and also a friend chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce. Everything was delicious mostly. The chicken strips were kind of sad though they were dry my daughter said. The buffalo sandwich could use some seasoning on the chicken portion. But the coleslaw and bread were very tasty. Overall Sando was good! Didn't get drinks this time. Would definitely return another time and try something else!

Now open in the downtown area. Perfect location among the business buildings. Been here a few times and luv the downtown atmosphere. The vaulted ceilings bring that added business district vibe. Spacious, clean and organized. Make a reservation online or walk in. Happy hour available. Service was awesome. Welcoming and personable, down to earth you'll want to come back again and again. Food was great! Nice menu options. Bar area was a bit more crowded so make a reservation if you're wanting that experience. Street metered parking. We've frequently visited the other locations in Redlands and Rancho Cucamonga. Can't wait for a speakeasy to be at this location.

For the most part it seems to be a place for an older crowd who wanna get away from the loud sports bars like yard house. I can agree with that sentiment. It is a nice reprieve from the otherwise packed areas of Victoria gardens as it is on the outskirts. The food is delicious and it prides itself on being low in calories. For how good it tastes you would expect a higher price, but that's another reason people like coming here. You don't feel overstuffed and you don't feel like someone robbed you for your wallet. Drinks are on point! The only gripe I have about this restaurant, is the old fashioned!!! They need to get a better cocktail glass for that drink and stop serving it with a bunch of ice. Just get the sphere or cube ice. Please! The staff are always friendly and accommodating!!! But when The State makes a mistake, that's where it falls apart. Last week, I was handed the wrong debit card. I only noticed after charges from someone else started appearing on my account. I called and spoke to Juan; no follow-up. Called again, spoke to Austin: still no resolution. It's been a week of silence. Meanwhile, I had to cancel my card, wait for a new one, and update all my accounts. This was a major inconvenience, and the restaurant has not shown any care. 1 star for food: still good. 1 star for drinks: always solid. 1 star for atmosphere and standard service. Beautiful decor, upscale vibes, moody lighting, and every corner feels intentionally designed. It's definitely a place that looks like it's about to deliver an incredible dining experience. Unfortunately, the food just didn't match the atmosphere. The crab cakes were decent, about a 6/10. You get two larger cakes, but they were a little bland on their own. The jalapeño aioli carried most of the flavor, but even as someone who loves spice, it leaned overly spicy. The wedge salad was surprisingly disappointing. The lettuce wasn't very crisp, and they added ham on top of the bacon, which felt unnecessary and honestly gave the dish a cheaper feel. We ended up removing the ham altogether. The fish tacos had nicely cooked fish, but again, lacked seasoning. They also came with more jalapeño aioli, and the portions felt awkward. The fish pieces were huge compared to the tiny tortillas, so eating them turned into a full taco explosion situation. The biggest letdown was the chimichurri sea bass. For a $52 entrée, we expected much better. The fish came out completely overcooked and dense like a brick, which was extra disappointing because the chimichurri sauce and mashed potatoes were actually delicious. On the bright side, the drinks were fantastic. Refreshing, flavorful, and probably the highlight of the meal. Service at the bar was also great across the board. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the night. This place truly has so much potential because the ambiance and service are already there. We really wanted to love the food as much as we loved the vibe, but unfortunately it just didn't wow us this time around.
