The Stable is a sit down restaurant with waiter. The ambiance is pretty nice. The building is only a few years old and it represents a great upgrade from the old Barn. Most universities don't have this option of a kinda upscale dining on campus so it's a bonus. The food is quite solid. They just updated their menu so I haven't tried everything yet but everything I've had is solid. My favorite is the chicken Mediterranean salad and I get it almost every time but the brisket is good too and the waffle fries and pizza at happy hour are great. Even though it's nice, I guess it's almost all UCR folks and their guess. I'm not sure people off campus would come since the only public parking is paid.

The serving staff is very kind, attentive, and customer service oriented. I appreciated that they were on hand for any questions, concerns, and overall smiles for the event. There is a stage for performances, 2 bar areas (inside and outside) and also enough space to have corn hole and other outdoor games setup. I could see a wedding (ceremony and reception) in this great space. Great work UCR at preserving and providing The Barn, an iconic venue in Riverside.

The vibe of the place is hip and very inviting to yuppies, millennials, and people working in the area... They have a patio seating and a number inside as well since this is a food hall. Food wise, got the breakfast sandwich with spam. Bread was good... and everything was perfect. Pretty heavy as it should be ... partnered with onion rings too. And they do refill drinks.

The burger was also meh but serviceable. The Cuban bean soup I got with it was tasty but too salty. Desserts were both good (see photos). The ambiance is actually surprisingly nice. Well lit and most of the clientele are professionals out for lunch. I will end on the most important point, which is that the prices are really cheap compared to sit down meals pretty much anywhere else you would go.
